Yes, Xiaomi has worse HDR. But when you take picture with iPhone and Sony A9 II, sony will have worse HDR than iPhone. Does it mean that iPhone is better camera? To be honest, I prefer look of the photos from Xiaomi much, much more. They are more natural. Some time ago when pixel introduced that HDR look, everyone was hating it. The pixel is a great camera phone for your instagram and social media ready shots, just like the iPhone and S24 ultra....From a photographers point of view the Xiaomi 14 ultra is in a completely different league, years ahead from a technology and processing point of view - it's the closest thing to a dedicated point and shoot camera that you can get right now.

My original options were between Xiaomi 14 Ultra and OnePlus 12, leaning more towards the OP12, but that camera is even worse. But the overall phone is better. Yes, I agree with you. I feel bad for Xiaomi, they invested heavily in the hardware of the 14 Ultra, I would like to have those lenses and sensors in my phone, but they are a generation behind in the post-processing contest. I already have a point-and-shoot Canon G7X that does almost no post-processing, it's basically the same as the Xiaomi here. Samsung, Google and Apple phones are much ahead in the software battle.

But bigger sensor far better for much tougher conditions.
Pixel still likes to raise shadows a bit too much for my liking. For example, at 2:20 the Ultra preserved the atmosphere better, the Pixel raised the shadows too much, flattening the image and taking the focus away from the main subject in the background. At 2:50 the car's tire is too bright on the Pixel, it's almost white; on the Ultra it's black, as it should be. On the other hand Pixel handled challenging conditions better. At 3:50 and 4:35 the Ultra really clipped the light. I preferred the Pixel in video overall, surprising because video is usually Pixel's weakspot. Night shots were close too, but I prefer the way Ultra handles artificial light, Pixel washes away colour at 8:44, and at 10:15 Ultra handles the light in a more pleasant way. Very close overall though, you can't go wrong with either. Which begs another question, is it even worth going through the effort of importing the Ultra?
@@protoping I don't know how it is on on the newer Pixels, but on the older ones you have to tap to focus to activate it, which is not idea. Plus, those adjustment levers are tiny, and imprecise. From these examples it is evident that the camera raises shadows too much, Pixels hate shadows. It needs to be lowered in auto mode.
I think Pixel is closer to what our eyes see, it is closer to our perception in terms of shadows and highlights than the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. It is a shame, because the hardware in the Xiaomi had a lot of potential
Wow, very surprised to see the Pixel 8 Pro do so well considering the huge price difference here in the UK, there were some situations where I preferred what I was seeing from the Pixel, others where I felt the Xiaomi was technically better, especially if I was to tweak in post but, as a point and shoot, I was surprised the Pixel 8 Pro did so well (computational photography making up for the smaller sensor size?) against a phone camera that everyone's talking about, along with the Oppo and Vivo rivals.
Night Video is where the Pixel Ai algorithm sharpening & lighting adjustment cant keep up on the fly and you see the pixel struggling... Photo is also where the Pixel looks like a phone photo, trying to even out every area while the Xaomi is not shy to over expose area where it should be just like a SLR & what you see with your eye.
Thanks for the beautiful comparison between the 2 phones. It's kinda a mix bag. On one hand, the Pixel is reigning supreme and on the other the Xiaomi is excelling. However, although you pointed out the shortcomings of the Xiaomi, `I'd still pick it up for a few points: 1- The One Inch Sensor and where it's doing a good job at night. 2- the color rendition is much butter on Xiaomi. 3- Pixels uses high ISO therefore, it's images come brighter and more detailed in shadowy areas but at the same time the image quality is noisy. Thanks.
And why doesn't anyone mention how overexposed all the photographs are on the Xiaomi 14 Ultra??? It's what stands out the most and no one says it...I don't understand it. The Pixel 8 Pro is clearly superior and that's without use UltraHDR with the maximum resolution of all the sensors, whose processing is better and more natural, which then literally destroys it, and let's not talk about Video Boost (I don't understand why it hasn't been used in the comparison), since it is superior in every way, especially in low luminosity. If you have resources in the P8P it is to use them, and even without using them, it clearly surpasses the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. In addition, it heats up and drains the battery, on the other hand, The P8P has clean and fluid software, without advertising, with continuous updates and improvements, it does not need a one-inch sensor to be the better, as seen in the video. I don't understand UA-camrs' obsession with not using UltraHDR and Video Boost in comparisons. If they did, the P8P would be even higher. that how I know? Very simple, because I have the P8P, and I bought the Xiaomi 14 Ultra at launch, I compared them and the P8P was better in everything, and when I saw the problems with the X14U, I returned it a week after buying it
I have the P8P, and I am happy to see that in almost every photo case it was by far the best! However, for video I use the iPhone 15PM. I don't know how they do it, but it is light years ahead of the video from the Pixel. Google needs to fix this!!

Looking at the photos from the 14 ultra makes me think how i want to edit them. But the photos from p8p looks like i won't even look twice at them. They are way too over-processed , colors are bad, highlights and shadows don't have any character and let's not forget oversharpening . Hey, no, cause the ultrawide ist a 12mo Sensor compared to 48 at pro. The Front and the Main are the Same with the Same quality except the "pro" Features in Software which where exclusive, pro Mode Foto, RAW and so in.
I like the way Xiaomi controls the face exposure in darker situations although it might not be completely accurate to real life conditions but I personally like it better But when it comes to environmental exposure control there's absolutely no doubt that pixel does it better, it seems every camera has a problem with exposure control, when there's too much light and too little on some parts of a subject the camera just outright can't focus on both areas unlike the pixel, the pixel also keeps focus and precision better, But well done to Xiaomi still.
Looks like Xiaomi has nicer colors, better shadow/contrast handling, and very pretty bokeh, but poor hdr makes daytime photography awful lol Xiaomi easily wins at night

it's weird it couldn't get some highlight details on daylight here in the video. not unlike xiaomi. it captures better neon details at night, so idk what's with that on daylight. maybe the AI has to be turned on. or HDR doesn't get triggered.

Actually the dynamic range of the main sensor on 14 Ultra is objectively better. You can't judge dynamic range with just default capture from auto exposure. If you can't be bothered to adjust the ev to taste then that is not the fault of the sensor.
Yes, the sensor is objectively better, but the computational photography is not nearly as good as Google's. I had no comment. I love using a professional camera and xiaomi is working perfectly to my taste. The colors the dark the contrast the shadows brightness and casual blown out over exposed is similar to a professional camera. Sorry pixel! I don't like too much HDR. but decent users may like it
I'm curious about the battery in Pixel, I heard it's weak. How did the Pixel battery last during a whole day of shooting videos and photos? Will it last all day or did it need to be charged?
Not true actually. Xiaomi aims for more natural light control. In that particular frame, on the left there is a darker area, so exposure is going to balance both. Without that dark area Xiaomi's highlight will give different results.
Pixel is overall better.. xiomi is a little better in low light.. and pixel has googles support and software updates.. xiomi .. not available in the USA. so pixel for me.. !!
По цене Pixel раза в три дешевле Xiaomi, и учитывая что по фотовозможностям он превосходит китайца, выбор очевиден, но у обоих есть минусы перед Самсунгом и Айфоном, у которых в разы стабильнее операционная система, лучше видеосъемка, у Pixel самый слабый процессор из всей четверки, но учитывая что мне посчастливолось купить новый Pixel 8 pro за 400$, я очень доволен. i prefer the xiaomi 14 ultra watching it on my tv, i can see the pictures are much better, there are few cases where pixel did better, but overall i prefer xiaomi and i own both the xiaomi 14 ultra and pixel 7 pro, google has too much processing which sometimes makes your photos look unreal, those who own pixel phones will know, xiaomi is more natural
Pixel is better as Xiaomi always overexposed.
@@jaimepaulgodinez2752 your opinion not mine, just sharing my opinion using the pixel 7 pro for nearly 1& half year and now the xiaomi 14 ultra
Great video 👍
I had no comment. I love using a professional camera and xiaomi is working perfectly to my taste. The colors the dark the contrast the shadows brightness and casual blown out over exposed is similar to a professional camera. Sorry pixel! I don't like too much HDR. but decent users may like it
UW pixel 8 pro
I'm curious about the battery in Pixel, I heard it's weak. How did the Pixel battery last during a whole day of shooting videos and photos? Will it last all day or did it need to be charged?
I use the Pixel 8 Pro as my daily driver since launch. No issues with battery life, even on a day line this, capturing over 100 photos and 20+ videos.
Overall, the pixel is much better.
vivo x100 pro & pixel 8 pro its super
More telephoto shots please🙏
Just install GCam 8.9 BSG and you ll see Pixel melt down
The bokeh on Xiaomi doesn't look natural no cap
Xiaomi have better color and white balance, pixel better dynamic range
Pixel is King of HDR
Xiaomi even sucks in video too. Check 3:46.
Not true actually. Xiaomi aims for more natural light control. In that particular frame, on the left there is a darker area, so exposure is going to balance both. Without that dark area Xiaomi's highlight will give different results.
I'm sorry Xiaomi, but Pixel is still better 🙁
Je vote pour Google
Pixel is overall better.. xiomi is a little better in low light.. and pixel has googles support and software updates.. xiomi .. not available in the USA. so pixel for me.. !!
I'll ultra... and good for the price.
Дякую за порівняння 🔥
How I see - GP8Pro is full vinner.
Thanks
xiaomi 14U is much better than pixel 8 pro
Very simple xaiomi just rag dolled pixel🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Xiaomi wins at the selfie camera, the highlights are smooth and shadows are nicely lifted up.
Pixel
Google Pexel 8pro Winner 🏆
Poxel does better overall.
Xiaomi does better in low-light due to it's bigger sensor.
Wow that^s all I can say
I like the Pixel better in this test..
Xiaomi blows away pixel . Pixel sucks at hardware
Pixel🔥
Why do you guys keep using the pixel 8 pro to compare with much more powerful phones? The pixel isn't flagship level
It's an easy win for pixel.
