  • Hunting Knife Restoration.
    This hunting knife SOLINGEN was accidentally found in an old German shed and had been lying there for at least several decades.
    The knife handle is broken and I couldn’t restore it, so I decided to remove it and made a new one from olive wood, as the woods’ structure is very beautiful.
    I hope this video will be useful and interesting for watching :)
    I am happy to receive any feedback on my work!

    Надеюсь, это видео будет полезным и интересным для просмотра :)
    Я рад любым отзывам о моей работе!

    Brilliant. My late father left many valuable knife, 3 vintage knifes of solingen, in somewhat similar condition. Wish I could restore them like this. That's beautiful work, mesmerising.

    • @Atelier12D
      @Atelier12D  3 роки тому +1

      Dear Curtis, thank you for a feedback! You are right, in a video I use special punch with a recess for the rivet head to tap in the brass pins. If you stop the video exactly at 7:57, you can see it. The video is speed up and it is very difficult to see this moment. My mistake, I forgot to slow down it.

    Nice work, but why didn't you make the handle scales with the grain running lengthwise rather than across? It would have been stronger that way and less liable to crack.

    Sehr schöne Arbeit. Respekt!
    Eine Sache würde ich gerne mal verstehen: warum kommt die Klinge in Entrosterflüssigkeit, wenn hinterher ohnehin runtergeschliffen und poliert wird? Welchen Sinn macht das?

    • @Atelier12D
      @Atelier12D  Рік тому +1

      Vielen Dank für den Kommentar! 👍
      Ich mache eine Rostentfernerbehandlung, um Rost aus tiefen Poren zu entfernen. Bei der Bearbeitung auf einer Schleifmaschine werden diese Poren durch die obere Metallschicht verschlossen. Die Klinge sieht sauber aus, aber mit der Zeit kann wieder Rost auftreten.

      Михаил, здравствуйте! Спасибо за комментарий. Согласен с Вами на счет боковой нагрузки. Этот вопрос надо задать изготовителю, т.к. я только реставрировал, не внося изменений в конструкцию. С другой стороны, с нарезкой колбаски нож прекрастно справляется, если поломается, то будет новое видео о модификации на канале. :)
