Bought a knife a guy made out of an old used file - it was made to look like a scalping knife about 1750 - my favorite knife I ate cheese and meat and cleaned it by sticking it in the ground - he gave me grief for it and I explained that it would never take a scalp or kill a man - IT WAS A CHEESE CUTTER - still have it and consider it the best knife in my collection - had many a good meal with it
@@patrickfairchild2330 : This type of knife mostly has an antler handle. When used by hunters, it is called Nicker ( Genick- neck), when used in edc use, different names are used. In leather trousers, formerly used everwhere in southern Germany and Austria, there is still a small pocket for such knifes. For weapon law reason
Wrong button! For weapon law reason, you today rarely see someone with such a knife, but in 1980s you could see some older men, carriinng such a knife , being modern dressed.
@@Atelier12D Merecido elogio, usted hizo un buen trabajo y me dió una buena idea para arreglar un viejo cuchillo mío con un cuerno de ciervo como ese con el que yo no sabía que hacer. Saludos
Excellent work! I have many vintage Solingen knives and have restored most of them back to similar condition. I would like to have more power tools, as you, but the end result is what counts!
Thanks for the comment! 👍 Yes, you're right, it's a small niker knife, but I wanted to make a clickable title for this video. 😉 Anyway, this is now my favorite picnic knife.
Thank you very much for your comment, it motivates me a lot! It is good idea. In the next video, I will also make a sheath for a knife. I wish you all the best in 2022!
@@DaemonsBane the one in this Video is a modern dress Version, but even the older ones have short tangs. The knife is not used for gutting or heavy duty cutting but for cutting the spinal Cord between the skull and the uppermost vertebrae.
Поставил лайк и за работу и за отлично накрытый стол. Класс !
Спасибо большое за душевный комментарий!
Никер - отличный нож . Стильный , практичный и хищный.
Спасибо за комментарий! Согласен, это мой любимый походный нож.

Very nice knife, good work, now all that's missing is a good sheath for the knife.

I have one of those, with the original sheath. It must be at least 80 years old. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for watching and commenting! 😍 Yes, you are right knife from the 60s.

i was expecting the knife to be a lot bigger when i first saw the thumbnail
Thanks for for your comment! 👍 Yes, true, it’s not so big, but very useful.
Did you know that deer feet are also used as a grip for this type of knife
Thanks for the comment! 👍👍👍 If I get a knife with a deer feet, I will definitely make a video!
This time I wasn’t personally at testing, so we all have to test it once again 😆
I suggest to test all restored knives this way!!!

Danke für den Kommentar.
Was ist mittelmässig?
It looks more like a letter opner
Thanks for the comment! 👍 I agree, it's a small knife😀. In reality, this is a Bavarian "dress" knife.
@@Atelier12D In reality as you wrote above it is a Jagdnicker - nothing short from a hunting knife.
Seems like an extremely flimsy "hunting knife", but looks fine enough
Thanks for the comment! Yes, it's a Bavarian dress knife. Used mainly for picnic. 😃
It's a "Nicker", used to cut the spinal Cord in the neck of a downed animal. Today it's mostly a dress knife like a sgian dubh or a Dirk.
@@godofhades honestly, I highly doubt that it was ever made for actual use.. it don't even have a tang
