Just installed idelstopper on 2024 Honda Odyssey and found it to be a pain. It didn't work at first so I noticed that the accessory socket wasn't working. I had to take every thing apart again and chase the circuit back the accessory connector. I found that one of blades on supplied connector had come lose and not making contact. They could have supplied a better connector than the one that came with the kit, but everything is peachy now. No more button pushing. Thanks for making the video.
All to save a button press; seems a bit much. I wish they Honda would just issue a software update to save the settings; the car should start in the settings it was turned off in, end of story.
you did an excellent job in narrating the video and well documented the installation i just got a 2024 crv and only am concerned with the warranty. i will definitely install when the warranty has expired thank you
Can not believe this is the solution. Will probably put this on my list to do one day. Well put together video regardless of Honda forcing us to do this.! EDIT: Coupon code no longer works. Will probably go the route of just buying from Amazon for $100 if I find no other solution.
It is very annoying for sure to have idle stop on. Does it cause any additional wear to the to car besides the starter and battery as you mentioned? Seems like it would cause more stress to the engine if it kept turning on/off all the time in slow traffic. Great vid though. Thank you.
Yes. The engine oil stops flowing when the engine is auto-stopped. Most of an engine's wear is done on start-up. No telling how much long term damage that causes. Engines in these cars are designed to handle 2-3 times more stop/starts than regular engines, but there are occasions when people can do up to 100 auto-start/stops on one drive, so they don't make it nearly durable enough to handle all the auto starts/stops. -- Scotty Kilmer has a recent video about these points.
Sorry. Your video is great. I was frustrated that my idle stopper didn’t work. Working with support to see what’s wrong. Keep up the good work on these typee of videos.
Its the idiots in your govt which forces car companies to get certain mpgs for new cars. Has nothing to do w car manufacturers, they are forced w this stupidity
Omfg I have been waiting for this. It's dangerous for me to not have the gas pedal go when I press it. I live on a 50mph rd with limited sight distance. It's also dangerous at stop signs when everyone is in a rhythm but your car takes 2 extra seconds to start going.
u sure make a video for welcome light under the vehicle, like 2021 model they have a accessories to add Welcome light under the car and that looking so cool.
Nice video! It got me most of the way there on the install. The Idle Stopper seems to be a good unit (day 1 of install) and should eliminate a step from my pre-drive checklist. I hate the auto stop feature. And also the VCM. Now I have both disabled!!! Yah!!! Reassembly is glossed over, but will be 90% of your install time. Manipulating the big center trim piece and 4 other loose trim pieces while lining up 10 clips takes much patience even for the most mechanically inclined. You’ll wish you had 4 hands under your mind’s control at times (a buddies set of hands are of minimal use given the multiple panel coordination required). 😀 A couple of edits: 1. Don’t zip tie and bundle up the Idle Stopper unless you are tucking it away near to top just below the auto stop button. If you plan to tape the unit to the middle, bottom trim piece as shown you’ll need the extra cable slack to allow room for reinstalling the 2 Phillips screws. 2. Don’t double side tape the unit to said middle bottom trim piece until the end (you see the unit floating later in the reassembly vs earlier when it is taped). Again this is to have enough bottom trim piece flex space to reinstall the 2 Philips screws. Good luck!
All these headaches can be avoided if the auto idle stop feature stays as selected by the driver, not going back to default mode after engine shuts off.
Hi :) I have a 2016 model of the acura RDX and I have a middle peice on the way, can you do a video on the step by step to disable it on the model I have? thank you so much and great video 🙌
'20 pilot here. bought the $80 harness and installed so that auto stop is disabled on start-up. i have the option of turning it back on if i want to, but i would NEVER turn it back on. major negative on this vehicle. i got stranded twice in busy traffic with a no restart. i just about got hit by a car when i attempted to exit my vehicle on the first occurrence.
I put on my rdx and you constantly see the (A) lights up all the time and when you push the button off when YOU stop you well see warning sign say auto ldle disable, that's really annoying..
Annoying to say the least. My unicorn loving neighbor bought his 2021 Subaru Outback and never test drove it basing the purchase on "green" reviews. He hates it. He did a long term test and even he admitted it didn't increase mpg appreciably to justify pressing the damn button everytime you start the vehicle.
Need a vcm video maybe you opinion on one product I live in California so I cannot purchase most vcm disable components but have some options still .. I agree with the other guy curious if you have a vcm disabler video
I purchased a used 2020 odyssey ex this year and the audio started crackling and cutting off. Have you had this issue and were you able to resolve it? Curious to know if I could take it back to the dealership and get it looked at
If anything you touch in the car that leads to damage, it will void the warranty for that specific or related item. If you are not comfortable doing this work, you can take it to a car stereo shop and have them install it.
No way would I attempt this…I’m sure I’d break something. SOP for me is to crank the engine then press the Idle Stop button. I see no real benefit to this feature…the wear and tear on the starter, battery and engine has to more than offset any fuel economy benefit IF there actually is any real benefit. The engine and the whole car shake when the engine turns off and in in stop and go traffic…that has to be bad for the vehicle.
That's a lot of disassembly. Fortunately BMW disables Auto Start/Stop in the Sport Mode. Also it's a simple task to disable it in the modes using a coding app on my moble device such as Bimmercode , Carly, or others.
I’m about to sell my 2021 accord cause of this stupid thing. Funny how you can permanently disable all safety features, but not an annoying feature that puts wear and tear on your car. I’m getting great gas mileage anyway, nobody needs that feature.
That’s not the way to do it , I’ll post video how to turn it off permanently just need to check if it’s legal with the fricking epa before I get another indictment !
Now I have to modify a brand new car. BS they should be a permanent feature in the settings to turn it off. Thanks for this post

Vote the sky is falling bums out of office...problem solved!
This is some James Bond level stuff. Thank you for this, the idle stop feature is really annoying and counterintuitive. Cheers!

Just got my discount code going. Saved me $9. Thanks homie!!!
Heck yeah bro. Who in the right mind thought the auto idle stop was a good idea?
The marketing department.

I feel like this is so dangerous when I am turning. Instead of just going, my car turns off.
Cool video. It'd be nice if you did something similar for disabling VCM.
I'd like to know why the cruise control goes nuts when you get in traffic
@@johnparrish965 press & hold the cruise button to toggle between speed cruise or radar cruise.

At 4:26 is exactly when I decided to just keep pressing the button on start-up.
Why? Removing the plastic panels?
What a wimp
Just found your channel.

I am using the same item but for 2019 Toyota Highlander. Work Fantastic. Thanks
I wonder if I could get my local shop to install this. Because there's no way I'm doing all that.
You other option would be ask a reputable local car stereo/alarm shop if they can install it. Don't go to BestBuy.
Of course. Car shops like money. You have money. Give it to the car shop. They'll give your car a Swedish foot massage if you just pay them.
Great video. I have 2019 elite also and I'm waiting for you to do a transmission fluid change video.
Thanks for more Ody Content...👍

Would you be able to say if this works on the 2013 Honda Fit GK3 model?
What happens if you just tape the button down on the console so it is always pushed down ? Will that hurt anything ?
the sad reality of the world we live in. we have to modify our new cars to make them run correctly
Amazing amazing!! Thanks so much for sharing.
I use a yellow posty sticker as a reminder to shut off start-stop

This feature changed my mind to buy Toyota camry over honda civic or accord
This would be a pain in the ass to do, I'll give you a simple way start your Honda and just push the Auto stop button once and your finished
I purchased a used 2020 odyssey ex this year and the audio started crackling and cutting off. Have you had this issue and were you able to resolve it? Curious to know if I could take it back to the dealership and get it looked at
I have not had any audio issue. You can have them look at it if it's still under warranty. If out of warranty, then you will pay their hourly rate.
won't it void factory warranty?

Bloody ridiculous that Honda doesn't offer a software patch for this
That's a lot of disassembly. Fortunately BMW disables Auto Start/Stop in the Sport Mode. Also it's a simple task to disable it in the modes using a coding app on my moble device such as Bimmercode , Carly, or others.
Do the coding work on this specific car? I am finding nothing on this besides installing this part.
Too much work. Easier to start a class action against Honda for not providing an option.
he lied... there is no discount code at the end
the discount code is "dial2fast" for $9 off. Sorry, worked for me on 29 September 2023.
You had me until I found out I have to bite into the factory wiring. Don’t want to do that for the sake of this stupid switch

Yup, same thing happens to me.
Idle stop is such a joke!! Its horrible
Everyone hates auto stop/ restart. Cars suck
My 2002 Prius is far more annoying when it's running for no reason than when it stops during light cruising or at a traffic light.
I hate you Honda for doing this to me.
Just take the fuse out
You have any more detail on this? Is there one fuse solely related to this feature?
That’s not the way to do it , I’ll post video how to turn it off permanently just need to check if it’s legal with the fricking epa before I get another indictment !
So you going to let us know the secret?
...and bye, bye, Honda warranty.
Was thinking the same
I installed it on mine and I still have my warranty
Just unplug and uninstall it before taking it into the shop and your good to go
This won’t void the warranty unless that function breaks. Or something related to it. And if it did I’d just take it back out
I have to buy a 3rd party mickey mouse solution??? What the hell???
Ah that wasn't so hard.
Destroy your car. Instead, just press button
Government mandated this idle stop crap
Honda is so un-American. they need to stop this shxt.
Why cant the light be on when its Active... annoying to have a dash light ON for a properly working car.
