As a 16 year Honda/Acura tech this thing is somewhat indicative as to why there is so much techlonoy in these vehicles. People are so lazy to just press and hold a button if they dont like their vehicle going into idle stop, people were so lazy that they need auto wipers and auto lights..soo LAZY that they are willing to put MORE TECHNOLOGY into their vehicles that once it fails and brings it to me to fix. Get appalled when i charge them for their laziness.
Mine engages even if I dont full depress the brake pedal. My girlfriends Toyota doesnt do it when I stop with a light tough of the brake but my Honda does.
@@DonChicloso Just had my '19 pilot break down in traffic because my wife didn't shut it off. Idle stop engaged and for some reason car wouldn't restart. Dealer tech refused to dig deeper into things like the valve adjustment or starter because of my vcm disabler, despite previous tech installing brand new battery no issue before. Took appox 5mins to install. Randy is awesome, bought this from his store. Great communications, no hassles. This module works perfectly in my '21 RL RTL model.
Hey Randy, just installed the idle stopper on my 2021 Ridgeline! It literally took five minutes start to finish after watching the install video. Thanks for a great product!
Got mine last week from Randy. Shipped directly from idlestopper. I just installed it. Even easier than the video now. No digging into that hole. Unplug the connector from the switch. Plug old one into female on idlestopper and plug the male into the switch. Works perfectly. Thanks Randy and idlestopper!
@Chris Brewer would love to see the trim kit ur referring to. Do you know if they consider idlestopper an aftermarket part, or if it will void any warranty? Currently have bumper to bumper warranty & DO NOT want to lose it, just bought mine last week. Loving it!
It will not void e your warranty but as I tell everyone- regular maintenance leave it in. Check engine light. Remove any bolt on or plug in product to limit the blame factor as well help the tech pin point the true problem.
Thanks Randy for this video. Just installed Idlestopper on my Pilot after ordering from your store. I had a hard time removing the factor black power connector...until I ended up using a long flat screwdriver in 1 hand to wiggle off the connector while pushing on the upside down tab with other hand. Otherwise, it was very easy installation. Looking forward to many years of not having to hit the Auto-Off button.
Installed mine on 2019 Pilot just a tip I used a flat head screw driver to pry the black connector loose just a little only then was I able to get it off; that thing was really in there! Careful when prying though you don’t want to break anything just enough to get it loose. Also I’ll share this because I was confused but when you unplug the black 3 prong connector that then turns into both connections for the black wires on the idle stop module. At first I unplugged the other 2 black wires down there but those you leave alone. Hope this helps good product
installed on 2023 passport touring & it didn't work! Did some troubleshooting & found the multiplug sitting on top of metal plate needed a push to continue bringing 12 volts to auxilary plug in console. Got 12 volts showing on downside of multiconnector & it works now. It does take a second to start working after starting car so be patient. 12 volt supply to this area is orange or light brown wire.

got the "A" IDLESTOPPER. iT ONLY HAD TWO WHITE CONNEDTIONS. INSTALL TOOK 10 MINUTES? MAYBE LESS. SO DARN EASY!!!!! THIS HAD NO BLACK CONNECTORS. JUST TWO WHITE. AWESOME! THANK you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Two other programming annoyances on my 2020 Ridgeline that I would purchase a get-around if available are: 1) While there are steering wheel controls for volume and source, I have to use the on-dash screen to MUTE the radio. On top of that, it takes two jabs to mute: one on the volume icon next to the screen to display volume control on the screen, then a 2nd jab at the MUTE selection below the volume bars. 2) Cars with a key to start have an ACC position to allow the radio to play without powering up the ignition or starting the engine. It would be nice to play the radio without turning everything on.
1) Push the volume knob, that should mute audio. (Yes it's not on the steering wheel, but it's 1 easy press. 2) WITHOUT depressing the brake pedal, push the push to start button two times.
Randy, took my 2021 Ridgeline to the dealer for a recall on the idle stop feature. It appears that sometimes the truck would auto stop and would not start on its own. The dealer stated they did a software update. Guess what …. now when I stop at a light I get a message saying the idle stop is not available! Yay!
I have a 2021 Ridgeline i hate the auto idle shutoff. I will be getting Idlestopper soon. I also have the wireless charger and it doesn't charge the phone. The charging light just blinks on and off. I read that this is a big problem for lots of people. It makes no difference if the case is on or off trying different positions doesn't work either, I will look for updates on your wireless charger..
I just received mine, quick question; I notice on the video you pull out the female black plug and attach it to the male black plug on the idlestopper. I did not see you plugging the remaining female black plug on the idlestopper back in where you pulled the 1st black plug out of. Is this correct? Do I just leave that bit uplugged?
@@CampingRandy Thanks, I checked out the video where you show how to do the install if you have a wireless charger (which I do) and it answered my question that yes, you do plug the idlestopper black plug back in. I just completed the installation successfully within 10 minutes!!! The most difficult part was first knowing how to pull up just the plastic part of the console and not the entire thing, and second, getting that black plug out with the underside tab...that was difficult. The rest was easy, no more annoying idle stop! Now, if you can figure out how to create a normal gear shift kit to replace the push button shifting, I would have no complaints about my Honda. (Which overall I love, btw.)
I noticed that after you had installed it and started the engine, the circle A light flashed, but didn’t give the auto-stop was off message until after you pressed the A-stop button. Isn’t that the way it functions from the factory? Does it take a shutdown and restart to activate the reverse function?
The IDLESTOPPER just switches the default to OFF when you start the Honda. It does not display any notice unless you press the button. Does that answer your question?
There is no sport mode. It’s the S stands for sequential mode - meaning the transmission will go through all 9 gears at higher rpm’s and not skip gears to conserve fuel. You use the paddles on the steering wheel to select gears on the Ridgeline, Passport, Pilot, and Odyssey. Thanks for watching. I hope this helps.
There are a few screws at the front you need to remove. 1. Remove the surround around the wireless charger. 2. Remove two Phillips head screw towards the front. 3. Grab where the storage slide touches the center console and lift up. Let me know if you have additional questions support@ridgelinestore.com
Just ordered both chargers from Honda (they have two different part numbers). Going to see which one we need as well plugs to install. Keep close for updates coming!
It depends on what your bringing the Honda in for. If it’s for a check engine light or malfunction engine issues then remove it before you bring it in. This eliminates the IDLESTOPPER or any add ons causing an issue. If it’s a rear differential or suspension problem then leave it in or an oil change. Sorry, I take these questions as common sense. I’m not going to tell you yes or no if it voids your warranty. That is 100% Honda’s choice. Just don’t complicate things by leaving products installed when you bring it in for similar issues.
Honda shouldve just made em Permanent Disable if u Hold em Down for several seconds instead of being on once u start truck up again. I guess they believe they made something that will save gas
I actually like the feature of auto off and on. I disconnected the battery to inspect the AI assembly and when I reconnected it I noticed it stopped working. I have a 2021 Ridgeline, any idea on how to get it back to normal?
According to my local Honda service department, it will only void your warranty if it breaks something somewhere else in the car. So it could theoretically void your warranty.
For the 2022 you don't need to unplug that difficult plug. You just unplug the panel plug for the Auto/stop button and plug that one into the new module. It's an inlibe plug system. Very easy!
I test drove a 2021 Ridgeline last week. I turned auto start on and off. I couldn't tell the difference. Does it really cause any significant damage over the life of the vehicle??
If you didn’t notice a difference, it didn’t work. When you are at a complete stop with a hard press to the brake pedal, the engine shuts off at the red light. Once you lift the brake pedal the starter starts the engine back up “hopefully” before you hit the gas pedal. Sounds like you had a great salesman with you that did not educate on the Honda Features. SORRY - sales people who don’t know their product or explain how features work, really gets me. Did you know you have a locking tailgate on a 2021 Ridgeline?
This is common for the Auto shutoff not to work. My 21 Ridgeline's auto cylinder shut off has never worked actually. My wife's 21 Passport works as intended though. There's something like 1500 (give or take a few hundred) different conditions/checks that have to be met for it to work properly. So in theory, many of these come with their own shut off kill switch lol...
