      While I certainly would like the price to be lower, this car clearly offers the most among the competition. If you want a car that costs almost as much yet doesn't even offer basic functionality, the Volvo EX30 is your car.
      Also, the BRABUS slogan probably never was "we offer bargain bottom prices". So why do you expect to buy a 3.7s 0-100 BRABUS with more onboard tech that was available in the S-Class just a few years ago now for cheap?

    This ticks so many boxes due to the benefits of the combo of Merc and Geely. Great size and shape, not an oversized suv, has enough rear leg and headroom, interesting exterior styling, good interior build quality, well thought out infotainment and drivers display, good ride quality, reasonable indicative pricing. I look forward to this coming to the U.K. only things I dislike are the 19inch wheels which look like dinner plates, and the cover over the cup holders which looks like an armadillo. Wish this were coming to the US, but the only small vehicle we're getting seems to be the EX-30 but they couldn't even put in a rear arm rest and cup holder for my kid to stow their drink in so I scratched it off the list. Guess I'll have to wait to see what the MINI Aceman offers.

    • @benjaminsmith2287
      @benjaminsmith2287 Рік тому +1

      Or you can pester Volvo to at least put in the arm rest and cup holder in the rear. Seems only small people can fit in the rear of the EX30. I do love the EX30 however. Just wish Volvo made better decisions on some aspects, like the interface, missing driver's display, and rear space/vents/arm rest. I like the Volvo Scandi style.
      This is a different Smart than the tiny one that was once in the USA. Not sure how it would do if it came back. I live in the USA and the smallest cars I see are Minis. And not many of them.

      @@reanult457 The Honda e:Ny1 is indeed quite light but it also has the drivetrain on the front which is not the correct axle🙂 and with only 78kW DC charge speed I would not consider it an acceptable car for long road trips, the smart #3 can charge a lot faster. And at least according to WLTP energy usage data even the 428HP smart #3 BRABUS with AWD is more efficient as well.
      The honda is bigger though, perhaps I should not complain then. But that shows again that weight is not that important regarding efficiency - air resistance is of much bigger importance.

    Loved this review, really, the best and most complete. There are lots of car reviewers on youtube these days, but most of them are not car guys, so they don't get to the point. For a car guy the driving experience is the most important thing, specially in roads like these in the video. How is the acceleration, how is the breaking, how it makes the corners. I 've made a test drive with a #1 Pro Plus and loved it to the bone. I intend to buy one Smart, still don't know wich one exactly. i can reach a #1 Pulse, but I 'm still a bit afraid of how the car reacts as the front motor sudden starts working. Does it go from oversteering to understeering? Does the front still rises at strong acceleration? I'm going to view your reviews again to try to understantd that.

    I particularly enjoyed the part of the review on the mountain twisty roads.
    This Smart 3 Brabus seems to do a similar job to the last hot hatch I had, a 2017 vintage Audi RS3. That car was not fuel efficient, but I did not much care and it seems this one is much the same. So far as I can see it has imported some of the best of Mercedes design without too much of their current star ship approach, though I prefer a bit less of the iPad on a stalk in the middle. What might be a deal breaker is the sun roof without any shade which I absolutely hate. A relatively traditional suspension setup shows you do not need the more complex premium suspensions to have fun.
    I would say Mercedes could usefully learn something from Smart about how to build cars.

    The #3 looks like a really nice car except I really dislike the trend that most manufactures seem to go with the Black and Red accents and styling packages for the “Sporty” versions of their cars. It’s so overused now and I actually think it’s been going on for so long it’s starting to make even new cars look “Tacky” and makes them look and feel old fashioned quicker. Could these manufactures not be a little more inventive with their colour choices?

    We've always been told EVs will revolutionize packaging and allow for more interior space in the same footprint. Well, what happened to it? Focus mk4 hatchback, 2 cm shorter, about the same size boot although with worse proportions, more space in the rear from what I can see. The only thing you're missing is this pathetic backpack-sized frunk. It seems the people promising amazing packaging forgot about aero, crumple zones and attachment to conventional body shapes 😂

    Dein Akzent (Du sprichst Englisch mit Deutscher Intonation) hat sich immer noch nicht geändert...
    Es wäre so einfach dies zu ändern, ein wenig Sprachtraining (mit ner App z.B.) würde schon helfen.
    Auch übersetzt Du oft Deutsche Ausdrücke direkt ins Englische, was einfach nicht passt.
    Es ist übrigens ein GEPARD, kein Leopard...ernsthaft?! Auf Englisch: Cheetah.
    Deine Reviews sind Klasse aber diese Deutsche Intonation im Englischen ist für native Speaker kaum auszuhalten.

    You can tell by the cartoon red who the car is being marketed to: Gen Y (millennials) and Gen Z. You don't even need to get inside to notice all the juvenile gimmicks.
    Actually, it looks more like the new VW ID 7 (lights) than it does a Mercedes. Hate integrated head rests. Leave that for 2 seat sport cars where they belong. I do love the clean center console with slider, and the red seat belts. Although not a big fan of the metallic plastic, or the panoramic glass roof that does not open.

    While i think it looks better than the non brabus #3, anything with red (outside of a fully red car) accents will always age badly

  • @richardhill6985
    @richardhill6985 Рік тому

    Test drove a #3 Brabus earlier today with a mixed experience. On the plus the HUD is great, makes such a difference compared to what a Model 3 offers. Very clear, very useful blind spot indicators and you of course can keep your eyes where they should be. The accelaration in Brabus mode was like warp speed, went from 100 to 185kph on the Autobahn in a blink of an eye. The negatives were I found the driving area cramped, despite not being the tallest at 185cm I banged my elbow a few times against the central console. The Brabus mode felt twitchy at high speed (probably great on a twisty road however) but the worst thing for me is who this car is actually marketed for. The Hastag name and cutesy UI (which looked a little dated to me already so can only imagine how it will look in a few years) indicate to the under 30s but underneath all that there is what could have been a very good EV for the slightly older driver. With a 50k price tag I am not sure if targetting the Hastag generation will prove to be a succesful idea.

    As more or less seen (and also mentioned by other channels): too much, or even everything must be done by the screen. Awful evolution in general. And please: the car is too expensive for youngsters so get rid of the stupid "anime" graphics. The interior however (especially here) I find really great 👍 Just hope the seats aren't too hard because that's one of the reasons I quit driving CLA's...

    • @MaticTheProto

    • @benjaminsmith2287
      @benjaminsmith2287 Рік тому

      This is not badge engineering. This shares almost nothing with the Zeekr outside of sitting on the same platform. And a lot of VW Group cars sit on the same platform like the VW Taureg, Audi ETron, Porsche Cayenne, Bentley Bentayga, and Lamborghini Urus.
      Zeekr is part Swedish, btw.

  • @benjaminsmith2287
    @benjaminsmith2287 Рік тому

    I don't understand the connection between the Volvo EX90, Smart#1 and Zeekr X. Yes, they have the same platforms but platforms are basic foundations of cars. And while it is true they have similar performance, the brands are quite different from each other. I don't think they're siblings unless same brand or related brand. Volvo is most close to Polestar but sometimes both will use a Zeekr as a base, though not often (so far). But Smart is just using the same platform and is it's own distinct brand. It's good to see the interiors and exterior designs are quite different as well, the last thing I want to see is badge engineering like say the Alfa Romeo Tonale/Dodge Hornet or the Volvo EM90/Zeekr009.
    But, yeah, the Smart is a mini-Mercedes and this review gives more insight in to how it is.
    Drive mode switching noise: annoying. Knobs on seats: rather not have them. Interior details: mostly nice and well done. Definitely Mercedes look. EV acceleration now is expected and, well, it's too much. Car seems fine, reasonably sporty alternate Mercedes but maybe for less? But service/dealership experience may be quite different?
