Excellent review as usual thanks Matt. I must admit that I do NOT LIKE all touch screen controls, but if you really can undertake all commands by voice, RELIABLY! that is even easier. I am interested that you prefer single pedal driving and also that nearly every EV review I see on YT gets LESS mileage than the manufacturers quote. You must all be driving in 'divers boots'! I have a 21 reg eNiro 4+ (10,000 miles to date) It's quoted range by Kia is 282 miles on a fully charged 64Kw battery. I am a 'Hypermiler', just for fun. I keep up to all speed limits applicable to the roads on which I am driving, so no slouch. When I charge the car to 100% on my home 7.4Kw charger the car tells me it has sucked in 316miles. If, however. I add the miles covered to the miles still available I am running currently at 330 miles! (Suck that up Mr Musk!) My mKw run consistently between 4.9 -5.2. I achieve this by ALWAYS driving with NO REGEN. I coast everywhere I can and use the column paddles to brake the car to a complete halt whenever possible. Sometimes I do have to brake if the space available is not sufficient for the regen retardation. I would be interest to see the results you could get by driving in this fashion.

For a review that's 90% features over driving, this was excellent. Love it.
Mercedes out here making their own mini countryman
Edit: wrote this comment before mat made this same comparison 😅
Interestingly this car has nothing to do with Mercedes except the visual design. Underneath the skin, partly Volvo probably, but zero Mercedes.
@@markzhang3434I don’t think thats bad
Copies the Countryman E
Agree😁@@momento4666
@@fishfinnersand also the one from EXTREME E. Extremely similar.
The smart car really made an improvement!
Hopefully at the expense of lots of bhp that is.
Don’t be wet, the old ForTwo Brabus would wipe the floor with this performance wise and was a masterstroke of design.
Very cool. All except the range - particularly for the price - is pretty awesome. When they can add another 100 real miles, this would be a great choice.
Na, not for me. Only until EVs can do 83828 miles on a single charge, then it’s right. 🤡
Great review. Agree with the comments about efficiency.
Carwow has consitently proven that you can become of the hottest and high quality car shows on the planet, without being attached to a major broadcasters, and with just a single presenter and a dedicated team. Ever since the chaps at Top Gear decided the BBC could eat it and left, Carwow has become my go-to source for comfort videos (and car reviews).
I'm really hoping for a colab between Drivetribe and Carwow. It would be so cool for the trio and Mat to meet.
Incredible job, carwow team! You've absolutely got this review thing down to a science! Splendid job and yes - I agree with your assessment, it looks like a buy.
I only wish there was some depth to this, but really - absolutely every essential thing was covered, thank you!
i love that fox at the corner of the screen, so cute, then i cried laughing when he talks like a regular man
Affordable drag race! 2008 TTS Vs Golf R Vs S3 Vs Scirrocco R. All have the same engine so would love to see which perform better!! Thanks
Choosing which generation of each car to use would be arbitrary. Unfortunately, I don't think they'd ever do this, and if they do it will be the latest models, therefore not including the Schirocco. Although it probably would include the "R" variant SUVs.
@@SatanDotExe even the newest version of each would be interesting. Surely they could get ones with all the same engine easily enough? I would offer up my TTS but I've just done the stage 1 so wouldn't be a direct comparison.
@@LivingwithPanic I have a MK3 TTS myself so I’d love to see a comparison video for sure.
@@SatanDotExe I actually think the TTS beats them all due to being lighter and slightly more powerful but need some confirmation🤣
Wow, I was one of your first 15k subscribers after you switched from hosting AutoCar I believe. This channel has grown quite rapidly.
Excellent video as always - thanks for that.
I originally wanted to get the EX30, but the #1 is much better equipped and the lease offers were considerably cheaper.
Great review. I really appreciate that you test some real-life situations like putting a child’s seat in.
Thats also came to my mind, I list out Ex30 due to lack of headup display and front screen, this solved it , thanks smart
Like what I see so far. This against the new Fisker would be interesting. Those 2 are my favorites so far of new electrics.
I could not live with that fox. It's like the return of Clippy!
All hail Clippy!
10:57 Yianni has captured the production crew! 😅
I have a 21 reg eNiro 4+ (10,000 miles to date)
It's quoted range by Kia is 282 miles on a fully charged 64Kw battery.
This car looks extremely well made. Kudos to smart, I would seriously consider this on top of my buying list.
Swatch made a good call way back when to have Mercedes make their cars rather than try to make their own- and now with Geely
Smart is known for being a small quirky city car. Wait and the next generation will be an SUV! I think this way it's ruined. Imagine having S class as a supermini!
yep as some one who own a fourtwo and roadster not buying this.
I’m sure smaller versions will follow.
Has a weird amount of MINI vibe to it without being a copy… which is a compliment. I would almost argue this would be a more sensible futuristic approach to MINI styling than what MINI themselves are doing atm. Perhaps just me…
Not just you.
Got my #1 few days ago. Chose it mainly because MINI does not have a similar sized/ranged EV available. That is 5 doors, 4-5 seats and a range of ~400km.
My other car is a MINI Cooper 😎
Cool... I love the look it's like juke meets soul and I am a fan of both of those.
12:36 really is the peak of your carrier, isnt it, Mat.
it's really a Smart ass
Mercedes is his father......gotcha😅😂
MOST rich people stay rich by spending like the poor and investing without stopping then most poor people stay poor by spending like the rich yet not investing like the rich but impressing them
You are so correct! Save, invest and spend for necessities and a few small luxuries relatives to on's total assets ratio.
Even with the economic recession or downturn, I'm so happy I've been earning $60,000 returns from my $12,000 investment on Short term

Best episode of all time imo
Congrats on the 100k new subscribers in ONE DAY! 8.4mil!
the chinese are building a better smart, then mercedes did the last decades...
So overpriced, you gotta be kidding me.
i love that your videos support ultra wide screens
It is the first EV that i would like to by . We don't need EV with 1000 or 2000 hp. We want to try to save earth and all the human kind. I will check the weight and the price with some options. Thank you MAT.
A good review for a Smart car !!
Really nice reviews and nice car, waiting for your EX30 comparision
That really do look good and is also extremley clever. I really like this one (#1)
It's based on Geely/Volvo SEA and pretty much every car of the family is a banger: Smart #1, Smart #3, Zeekr X, Volvo EX30 ...
This one does everything well and should and does sell very well.
Great review Mat!😸
One big disadvantage with the way the back seats fold is that there is absolutely no cargo wall to stop your cargo from leaving the cargo bay and drop in between, or crush, the front seats.
2023 Dodge Viper Hatchback :D
Gorgeous car!
I actually loved this car...beautiful
Thats a very very well thought out car, would never imagine it coming from smart.
one of the coolest and practical EV
It´s fit you very well Mat
6:04 100% agreed. Mercedes has the best gear selector in the business, and for some reason, almost all other manufacturers have some other inferior way of switching gears. Every other implementation is just waste of space!
tesla has the same
@@meinkonto6344 Yeah because they took it from Mercedes. The first gen Teslas actually shared many parts with Mercedes, including the stalks and window open buttons.
Great review!
Smart def watches carwow, those door bins are massive!
Looks very good ⚡️
Very good review of what looks like a neat little EV, quick question-when it’s re gen braking do the brake lights come on? thanks.
I can't wait to see millions of cars with their drivers glued to those little screens instead of watching the road.
Wow smart are really making great cars at the moment and this car is amazing in all aspects, it has everything and i love it. Definetly the best for that price well done smart
I'm convinced. I would buy this.
I agree Matt, it's definitely number 1.
