I kind of liked the one at 1: 50 where you explain that if there's a car behind you and you put it into reverse, the car will simply "slam on the engine!"
Great videos nick thanks. Very informative.Keep up the great work in doing videos that explains how the mbux work. Favourite for me was the parking sensors. Spot on 👍
So today I walked into a Mercedes dealership in Melbourne Australia and ordered a new car. I asked the salesman whether he had heard of Nick O’Leary. “ Oh hell yes. I hope Mercedes is looking after him and paying him well, because he does a lot for our business”. How about that Nick?
Oh really! Haha That’s so cool! Never been although I would love to one day! 🙏 Well my local Mercedes help supply some cars from time to time and I’m in contact with their Press Office who help with events and supply cars for a bit longer which helps massively. I wouldn’t be able to do it without them all! But they don’t pay me though! I used to work at my local dealer but that was a long time ago, I do this full time, no car manufacturer pays for anything. I produce all of these videos myself 🙏
Just watched this tutorial and it was incredibly helpful! I’ll be getting my Mercedes-Benz next week, and this has helped me a lot in understanding some of the features I’ll need to change 😊
Another great video Nick 🙏🏽. The Crossing Traffic option has been activated a few times by pedestrians in the supermarket car park walking behind my A250e when reversing out of a space. It's quite a shock when it happens as the brakes are applied so sharply it feels like I've hit a pillar or another car.
Oh awesome! Thank you! Well if you have any questions fire away in the comments section! Which one you potentially going for? (If you don’t mind sharing)
I noticed the same with the rear sensors on the A-class, they start beeping a lot closer to the object than other manufacturers. Though not as bad with the rear if you have the rear camera, at least you got the camera for visibility. Narrow lanes on multi storey car parks can be a beep fest, which takes a bit of getting used to if you haven't had front sensors before, but it does help stop any accidental curbing of the wheels or bodywork scrapes, so can't complain.
Nick: just took possession on my 2025 GLC 300 Coupe here in the US. Traded in a 2020 E350. This video (plus your longer one) helped update my tech skills. There has been a significant change in my MBUX version. The favorites button has been limited. It no longer appears on the big screen. Each function (radio, nav’s at, etc) has their own favorites but no over all favorites location. The steering wheel Star ⭐️ only pulls up phone favorites.
I don’t own a Mercedes but I do appreciate videos on things that tend to be hidden in the manual. We all know guys are genetically incapable of reading manuals so we need an alternate source. I like the lane assist in my car except when I’m next to a large truck. At those points I really want to hug the other side of the lane.
Hey Nick, you are the first man on YT Moto's World, which I subscribed after first video... really good job ! ;) I'm picking up my new GLC in February 2025, so this might be helpful :)
Thank you, I had that alert for speed limit this morning backing up to my garage. Car would not let me get more than 2 feet from the door (which I appreciate), and would not let me continue, even with me hitting the accelerator. I just updated all my setting to "early" as the standard has me almost on top of things before the camera comes on, and starts to beep.
Hi Nick, brilliant videos, thank you. Is there any way to turn up the sound when the indicators/hazard lights are operating? It's so faint that it's easy to forget to cancel them.
Nick, thanks! This is a great video. There is so much tech in these new cars it’s truly a process of continuous learning. Here’s a question - 2024 GLC 300 - how can we mute/reduce the volume of the incoming text message announcements in MBUX? The new message notice is offensively loud and I actually find it distracting. Have tried a few things and often end up turning off Bluetooth which is less than ideal Thanks, Mark Ottawa, Canada
Thanks Mark! Oh yes there is! I haven’t adjusted something like that myself before but I do recall seeing something in HOME SETTINGS SYSTEM AUDIO Have a look in there as I’m sure there was something called Message Announcements or something. Let me know how you get on!
Nick, thanks for the great tip video, as a new C43 owner the MBUX system is driving me insane, I almost want to get rid of the car due to the complexity of the system, Im trying everything to understand how it works and your videos definitely help, My favorite tip for this video is controlling apple carplay, I must have turned it off by accident and it hasn’t been working for several weeks, You may have saved me a trip to the dealer to get it back on,Thanks again for all the great tip you provided!
That’s alright! Glad you enjoyed the video! 🙏 Let me know if you have any questions or frustrations etc and I’ll explain. MBUX is quite easy! I definitely used a few multimedia systems and MBUX is up there as one of the best.
Dear Nick. I really appreciate your clips and d tips, clear and without any blabla adds like most of your German colleagues. One question: i have a new CLE and I am sad that the Limiter does not automatically change the speed limit when a new traffic sign comes up. I always have to double click the little button reset... Any idea to optimise this? Thanks i advance and bye bye. Thomas
Thanks Thomas! Glad you enjoyed the video! Colleagues? Oh I don’t have any colleagues at least not yet 😅 maybe in the future! Unless you meant other car reviewers etc I believe it will automatically update on cars that have the driving assistance pack but for others just a quick update from the steering wheel with the button
Love your presentation Nick. It’s just brilliant! My one big hope-I would like my screen on new GLC coupe to show a digital clock face large enough to be seen from the rear seats. It’s quite annoying that MB has got rid of the analog face dial and forgot to put the digital version on the screen!
Hi Nick, thanks for your amazing videos and really good explanation about Mercedes.❤ Can you please give some info about the sensors specially tire sensors and it settings in Mercedes?👍
Thank you! Glad you enjoy the videos! I’ve done a UA-cam short on it before, there’s just a reset button on the service menu: ua-cam.com/users/shortsuivtGMxAA6U?si=mYd5f0lcOm3nCRXG
Hi Nick, Thanks for all tips. I have no clue, how to turn off the light being turn on automatically if the driver accientally moves the hand towards front passenger side. thanks in advance
Got a separate video on that! 👊🏼 ua-cam.com/video/hS-Rn_-uHdA/v-deo.html&si=9UG5ZzrrSUIuIIy4 Video should start at the right bit for you with that link Glad you enjoy the videos!
Just watched this new video very good, however you said there is no next track button, but if you swipe the arrow on the right to the right the next song on queue will play
Not sure if its the same as in the USA, but this latest MBUX has unfortunately ruined the radio favorites / presets for the satellite radio source. It used to allow all sources to share the same favorites menu, but now it separates them and doesn’t even treat them the same way. You have to go 3 levels deep to change a satellite radio preset channel, completely defeating the concept of presets for convenience and safety. I would love for you to review that section in a future video assuming the same issue is in the UK. Love your reviews.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the videos! Sadly it’s a bit different here in the UK. We use FM/DAB radio where I think the USA use Sirius or something I’ve heard? Never seen what it looks like in person but I know it’s vastly different from people’s comments over the years.
Hi Nick. Great video. US CLE 450 driver here. Have you ever done. Segment on the Easy Enter/Exit feature? I’ve tried everything. Best I can do is get it to work for one drive then it resets itself to off. I’ve used the auto seat adjustment, but it seems six foot Americans are different sixes than six foot Germans. Help!
Thank you! No sadly it’ll cause more questions than I’ll know how to answer 😅 The reasons being, some Mercedes models can’t do it at all because they don’t have electric seats (sounds obvious but I still get questions) Another is in the UK, just because it has electric seats does’t mean it’ll have it and finally each model that does have it, it solely depends on what Mercedes have set as a threshold for it to work. Simply put if you quite tall then this feature will never work for you. I’ve observed some models move the seat forward to help you get out, some models move it back and some just do the backrest. It purely depends if it’s a coupe with large doors or a five door. However adding to your message I’ve never observed it just randomly switch off though. For me this feature won’t work as the seat going back would go past the threshold as it’s already quite far back as it is…so I have just have it off.
In Switzerland “Early warning” or “Warn all around” doesn’t make sense. Parking lots and shopping center’s garages are so narrow so the car beeps all the time. I turned it off right away.
Drive away assist should not be able to be deactivated by anyone over the age of 60 - the amount of cars I have seen and herd of launched into the front of shops due to the elderly driver slamming down on the accelerator instead of the brake is alarming!
@CM73878 it was an arbitrary figure, could be 65, maybe 70. For balance I also think the speed warnings shouldn't be able to be muted unless your over 20 for similar reasons
@ I was in San Diego visiting my dentist when an elderly lady asked me whether I could get her Lexus automatic into reverse, claiming it was faulty. I got in the driving seat and it was fine. I then realised that she was trying to pick me up. I made an excuse, she got back in and roared off at high speed!
Always great information. Maybe you can answer this question for me. My 2021 MB C300 with easy entry/exit the front seat would go back and the steering wheel up to make it easy to exit. But my 2024 C300 the easy entry/exit the drivers seat moves forward when you try to exit making it more difficult to exit and upon entry when you start the car the seat moves back. Makes little sense to me. I hope that engineer is now looking for a new job.
Thank you! 🙏 Personally what I would do is go to settings and turn it all off. Then on the door, make sure you’ve got your seat programmed in memory one, then adjust the seat to where you would like the seat to move to (for your own custom easy entry and exit). Make sure you do the steering wheel as well, the save to Mem 3. Memory 1 - For Driving Memory 3 - Easy Entry and Exit Men 2 can be for another driving position etc or for something else Or the other way round etc
Buen vídeo 😉 En mi caso en lo referente a semáforos al tener head-up display el propio coche te indica zona de semáforos o de paso de peatones. Yo desde luego recomiendo totalmente este extra
Very good as ever Nick. A couple of q's - Is there a way of setting up the parking sensors to operate at a definitive distance - say for example I want to park 6 inches away from the end of my garage? The standard and early warning option seems a bit too subjective to my mind :) I like the Traffic Light view option but if I don't have it in my car, would Mercedes be prepared to upgrade my system in order to incorporate it? And along the same lines , if there are other options that I would like in my car that weren't included from new, is it likely that Mercedes would be prepared to install them? Fyi, it's a 2023 E400d Approved Used Mercedes running the MBUX6 software. All the best.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! No sadly they are preset at a certain distance. I think I remember seeing the exact distances in the manual once but no they can’t be changed. No unfortunately car manufacturers and car dealers in general commonly only sell cars as they’re described especially Mercedes dealers. They’re not allowed to “mod” cars and add things that weren’t there. You can ask, but I think the answer is always a no. Certainly my local dealer explained they don’t offer that for various reasons. Technically speaking some things can be retrofitted, some companies offer that but then you need to know computer coding which I’ll have to admit, I know very little of! 😅
Hello Nick. I have been going through your videos, and I appreciate all that you have put together. I just purchased a new GLE, and an item that annoys me is the rear camera opening up every time I come up to a stoplight. Simply put, the parking assistance activates at slow speed on the road rather than in a parking area. Is there a way to deactivate it for only when it needs to be used in a parking area?
Ah thank you! I asked Mercedes this years ago and this is what they said. Reversing cameras used to be just mounted on the exterior exposed to the light conditions which made it show the image instantly. Because they were on the outside they got dirty very quickly. However newer styled cameras now have a retractable housing which is good for keeping it clean but the camera when it pops out has to expose for the light (daytime / nighttime / low light etc) and it can take seconds before it actually shows you an image. To combat this Mercedes will have the camera “pre-pop out” as you slow down so when you do select reverse, the image is shown instantly.
@@npoleary Hi Nick. I have the same issue with a 2024 GLA and the sound of the rear camera door opening and closing is extremely noticeable and annoying. In daylight hours the rear camera calibration will stop after 5-6 times you brake or slow down, but at night time the calibration never stops so the rear camera door constantly opens and closes. This calibration starts all over again in the daytime when you turn the car off and then turn it back on. On top of the noise, I am concerned that the camera mechanism will wear out over time and result in an expensive repair. Can you check again with Mercedes and try to find out if there is ever going to be a software fix for this issue. Many owners seem to have this problem and nobody is happy about it. My service manager actually said to turn up the radio volume so I wouldn't notice the noise. How ludicrous is that solution? Perhaps you could do a video about this issue. I'm sure many unsatisfied Mercedes owners would appreciate it.
Unfortunately I don’t know what models it appears on and what equipment. I heard it on the CLE I reviewed recently but it was very quiet so wasn’t worth a mention. According to some comments it’s more prominent on for example A-Class & GLA. It doesn’t happen on my A-Class but since I bought my car a year ago some people have mentioned it’s on the A-Class now. I’m sure the camera popping out though is just exposing the image ready to show on screen? I can’t see why a mechanism would need to calibrate every single time, that doesn’t sound right.
@@npolearythis issue is quite prominent with GLE models as well and sadly the rear camera is constantly calibrating at low speeds whenever the car is started. Oddly the rear camera image does not show up on screen even though the camera door is opening and the camera is deployed. It is beyond ridiculous that this is happening. There are numerous complaints on MB World forum about this issue.
Nick, In one of your videos for Mercedes A180 2024 you mention that you can no longer change or select next track on MBUX, well on my 2024 A180 I have certainly found with using media USB plug in hard drive the track is displayed on my screen at the bottom of my SAT NAV display and I can select next track. Now a question for you, same model A180 2024 on the heating controls my other earlier E and A class cars had the ability to set the heating to blow not only to your feet but at the same time blow onto your windscreen, on my A class 2024 that seems to have been taken away, you can direct to screen, feet or dash vents but not screen and feet at the same time........Am I correct or am I missing something?
Well you can but what I want is a physically next track button on the steering wheel. There are multiple ways you can do it, via touch on the instrument cluster, or on the main screen. I just want a dedicated button. Modern climate control systems are very sophisticated so the best thing to do is leave it on AUTO. When you then also select heat, it’ll come out near the button and near the top as hot air rises evenly distributing it throughout the cabin and de-misting windows etc. However if you select a cooler temp, it’ll come out of the front vents 🤓
Ah Nick great video again. Problem for me just bought a 24 GLA no messages are driving me mad. My last A200 I got a pop up. You have a WhatsApp message from someone do you want to hear yes or no. My GLA either just reads out every message out loud without asking (could be embarrassing) or I turned off announcements. Now I get nothing. My phone tings but no pop up message on screen. If I Hey Mercedes she says you have apple CarPlay for messaging. I make sure it’s on makes no difference. Any idea what settings are wrong?
Thank you! @ stuartbaker444 🙏 So, it sounds like you have Apple CarPlay enabled? If so: Go to Settings on your iPhone Select Siri & Search or Apple Intelligence & Siri Select Announce Notifications Turn off Announce Notifications for CarPlay
@lorins8687 haha I’m not sure people will just give their car away! 😅 Oh by the way I’m hoping you that saw my reply yesterday. There were all of those spam messages (I get those sometimes) so I replied to you, reported them and removed them. Wasn’t sure if you saw my reply as it would have been deleted after reporting it.
Great video , is it possible to turn off the feature that lowers the volume when leasing to music when approaching a stop sign or red light , Thank you
Thank you! Oh really? I haven’t ever heard that before…which model and year do you have and whereabouts are you based (as I know specs vary round the world)
I’ve heard of an automatic volume for the variation of speed. So the faster you go the more it’ll bump up the volume but it’s extremely subtle and I can’t easily measure it but I’m fairly certain it’ll be something small like up to -5dB or up to a total of -10dB adjustment. Not seen a way to turn it off though
Hey Nick. Question for your top tips videos. I have a 73 plate gla Amg prem plus. Had a 24 plate as a courtesy recently. Can I upgrade the mbux to the 24 plate version? Obvious difference is the view of the map, mine has red arrow as icon 24 plate has image of a car. Any ideas? Keep the videos coming. Thanks in advance..
Thank you glad you enjoy the videos! No sadly MBUX generations are not software upgrades they’re completely new hardware as well. Only found on the new models / facelifts etc
Love your videos Nick. I have, however, a problem with my brand new GLC - especially on the "Internet in the car". I have signed the contract but my car always shows no data package. Any solutions you might know about this?
Thank you! Ah very nice! Mercedes used to have Internet in the car but I noticed on a couple of models recently it switched to a thing called the entertainment package which I made a video about. Have you signed up for that package?
Great video as always. Can you please tell me if there’s a way to view CarPlay notifications ( not announcements ) while using MBUX’s navigation? I personally find it one of the greatest features of the car (a W206), even though some people seem to dislike it strongly but it seems I must choose between the two which I hate.
Awh yes that’s how they work, they are completely separate. They’ll never be integrated because they’re made by two separate companies. (Unless car manufacturers adopt the next gen CarPlay but that doesn’t exist yet) You can use the MBUX navigation but you’d have to go into CarPlay and then come back out of it and even then it’ll only read notifications over Siri
CarPlay notifications while using MBUX’s navigation is not possible but when using a Tbox (Plus CPC200) it's easer to switch to Carplay. Even when I play Internet Radio (Dragon Radio via Chrome browser) the volume is muted for a few seconds when I get a WhatsApp message. All this while using the MBUX navigation. The Internet radio keeps on playing when using the MBUX navigation. I always use the MBUX navigation and if really needed I put the navigation in front of me on my EQE SUV so that my passenger can use the Tbox while I'm driving. Watching UA-cam, Netflix, Disney+,....... on your W206 will make your day.
You can do, but it won’t remember personalised settings or suggestions though. If you’re concerned at that sort of thing, Mercedes actually are very transparent with privacy I’ve noticed. Here’s something dealers won’t tell you, I used to work at one sometime ago and I had that question asked a couple of times over the years. If you’re after the most minimalistic experience with regards to data / tracking etc Make a Mercedes me account (or Mercedes me ID). Link your car. Accept the terms of Use but do not tick the other boxes which say things like product improvement etc. just the top box is all that’s needed. Then this is the best bit, go onto the app and you physically select one by one what you want Mercedes to be able to do. Most people will select activate all, but you for example could select everything apart from vehicle location or any others that are of concern. If you want to chat more privately about it, email me here: “contact@npo-media.co.uk” Happy to help if you have more questions about it!
Great video, Nick. Some sterling tips, thank you. I see that at 5 minute 11 seconds there are phone numbers in view. Not sure if this is okay with you. FYI.
Haha thank you! Yeah they’re local businesses, I checked 🙏🙏 I could blur them on UA-cam I guess to be on the safe side but they’re public numbers anyway 🤓 Thanks for keeping an eye out for me! 😜
Request for new video: my Mercedes is on order, so not very familiar with the dash layout, so apologies in advance if this one is obvious and trivial. Re dashcam …. I understand how to set the Mercedes dashcam (manually … hope it can be automated) on to loop recording. But what do we do after an incident which we want to keep “as evidence”. I.e. how to stop recording to prevent it overwriting, how to view in vehicle, can we search on vehicle screen for the incident (presumably at end of the recorded footage), save recording e.g. for sending to someone? Thanks Nick.
Thanks for the suggestion! Ooo nice! So Dashcam is a manual start in the UK, so you just factor that in before you start using it. I’ve read in comments it might be different in other countries though. I have a dedicated video I made on it this year on my channel if you want to watch it, it highlights everything you’ve asked here. ua-cam.com/video/xkXyOzoLpO0/v-deo.htmlsi=gTrNlBiocAV_38y9 The dashcam camera in the UK is like a video camera, you hit start and it stops when you leave the car. There are no extra parking modes or incident saving compared to a 3rd party dashcam. If you need those I’ve reviewed those separately: ua-cam.com/video/8ebjU6TelQ8/v-deo.htmlsi=FwC2kCX_UwIxXAh0
How do I get my dashcam to loop record automatically? I live in Guernsey where there are no geo restrictions, it’s just so annoying having to switch it on every trip. C300 2022 model saloon
Loop recording refers to recording and then when the memory stick is full, it’ll start over. It’s the same here there is no “Auto Start” you have to start the recording session manually.
I have made a video already on the favourites menu but I could make a newer one more up to date one if you’d like! I’ll add it to the list though of possible future videos!
@npoleary Hi nick, Is it possible to set a master phone for each profile so when Wireless Apple Carplay Starts it uses the master phone to connect if there are 2 phones in the car for example. Many thanks.
Is it true MB is going to stop making the A Class soon? How will that impact price for second hand A Class? VW stopped making the Scirocco in 2018 and I was thinking of buying a used one but the prices was staggeringly high.
Next May I am taking my 2021 cla180 on the continent for 8 weeks . Does this effect the opposite side lane assist, can I change my Speedo to kph as the main view, and can the electronics change headlamp beam.
Ooo nice! Lane Assist is fine as it’s just looking for lane markings, it’ll work the same way. Certain elements of the Speedometer can be changed from the centre screen on the middle of the car: Home Settings System Units Headlamps it depends what lights you have, are they LED High Performance Lights or MULTIBEAM LED. Have a look at your light cluster outside and see what it says 🤓
Not found it an issue with Mercedes, but on some cars lane keeping assist can get confused by potholes and start try and fight you when you're driving in a straight line but go over a pothole!
Oh yeah I’ve never had that with pot holes. I had it yesterday with roadworks but even then I was a bit confused at the lane markings because it was foggy and pitch black. I toggled it off just in case for that section of the road
Sorry, just seen your reply. It did catch me by surprise the first time, but now I know it's a possibility and I am prepared for the possibility. Roadworks are an interesting one. Depending on how they are laid out, roadworks might force you to 'change' lanes according to the lane keeping assist systems, when you are just following the road and any temporary lanes and contraflows that might exist. Another example why the driver should always have final control and a choice in what they use or don't want to use - they can deal with real world variables that might trigger the sensors.
Hi nick I've got the new mercedes cla 250e regarding direct commands I've only got 2 listed on my car how do you get more direct commands is there an update.
Oh really only 2? Out all the car’s I’ve reviewed I’ve always seen a whole list of them so not sure why there would only two commands. Might be worth getting in touch with the dealer! I’m sure they can check for you
Nick thank you so much for this, my friend and I learnt all we know about our mercs from you. I never looked at my manual book thingy lol . I’ve ordered a GLA 250e AMG line premium plus I was told I will get the new 2025 model, they did not have one in showroom . Can you please do a video on the 2025 model. Thanking you in advance Nick ❤
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it! Well the 2025 model won’t have a different shape as it’s only just had a facelift. But…there will be of course be the new registration and any specs that might have changed etc But yeah if I get my hands on one, I wouldn’t mind covering it again and see what’s different 🤓
Forever MB has had a reheat function in their cars having to do with humidity control ( i believe). For some reason in my 2024 S580 sometimes when I turn off the car the internal heat function kicks on….?
I’ve seen it on some cars but not all of them have it It was called “rest” where it drew heat from the engine. However that sounds more like auxiliary heating more than anything else. On the central screen at the bottom there’s a climate menu, have a look in there for anything to do with pre-entry climate control.
I just bought a 24reg A200 Premium Plus and I have a problem I can find no reference to on the internet. The interior reading lamps keep automatically switching on while I'm driving. I'm guessing its supposed to do that, but how do I switch the auto function off please? When I reach over to touch the display the passenger light comes on, when I pull my hand away it goes off again. Its kinda dangerous at night
@@npoleary Top man! Thanks Nick. I knew if there was some little factoid I needed answering, you would be the chap to ask. The car is great, but that one thing was bugging me. And those Adaptive LED lights are utterly insane! Thanks
@PlanetScribbles no worries! It’s quite cool! Except for the fact I don’t often lean over to the other side of the car to get things 😅 I’d probably have it off as well, but it could be useful for others!
Is the dash cam standard on premium plus glc? I cant find a dash cam app in my Glc 300d premium plus, build date Sept 9 2024. Does that mean I dont have a dash cam?
Depends on the specification of the car, you’ll have to ask Mercedes themselves. In the UK they update the specification about 3 times a year with new brochures so dealers would know! 🙏
For some reason in the Netherlands the camera for augmented reality, traffic light view and dashcam is only delivered on AMG cars, even if you have a full option AMG line car the camera isn’t mounted. 😢
Mercedes I’m sure like most car manufacturers adjust their specification throughout the year a few times (new brochures, adjusted pricing, specs etc) so keep an eye out! You never know it might come back!
@@JJD7618 klopt ja, volgens mijn dealer ook, Van Mossel. Maar in andere landen wordt de camera gewoon nog geleverd. Nu heb ik een full option EQB AMG line maar zonder augmented reality, traffic light view en dashcam. 😡
Is that the one where it adjusts the volume for the speed you’re doing? On some models I’ve seen an auto volume adjustment in settings on the radio or media page.
Really not sure on that one sorry as I’ve never visited a country without access to Mercedes me You’ll have to ask to ask someone who works at Mercedes
Probably I wouldn’t use that system though to track a car though because of this. I made a video about it a couple of years ago. It’s more for personal use to see where you’ve parked 🙏 If you need it for tracking for theft, I’d recommend getting a tracker installed 👌🏼
Yeah you can have the PIN enabled for one profile and off for the others (up to 7). Or have all the PIN’s off, or have all the PIN’s on. Up to the person and their profile! 🤓
It can but then it still adds another step, which may become annoying if you’re just one driver / owner. Plus not all cars have a fingerprint sensor. I know this model did but there’s been a few that don’t have it.
I bought a new GLA200 and auto stop start sporadically turns engine off in heavy traffic. Known GLA computer communication fault. 4 weeks for me to get a refund from MB head office. Terrified driving not knowing when I would be rear ended or roll back on a hill. Other GLA owners told to turn off auto stop start fuel saving feature as a "FIX". Unacceptable
ah disappointing that the pin on startup is only for personal profiles. i wish it was something like tesla's pin to drive. which is another layer of added protection so ur car doesn't get stolen even if they stole ur keys.
Haha sadly I can’t control what adds are played at the start, during or end of the videos. However…it does reflect on your browsing session so maybe you’ve been browsing for BMW’s! 😝 haha That or German cars, they’re all pretty good! Thanks for watching though 🤓🙏
Hmmm…so the PIN is purely for locking your profile on the multimedia system. So if the car is started with the key, then it can be driven away. The only difference with the PIN enabled is that someone can’t get into your profile to see your sat nav home / history etc and adjust your settings.
So I have naturally very long legs, I mention this in my reviews but didn't feel the need to mention it here in this video as it wasn't relevant. I have to sit in a certain position in a car or my legs will hit the steering wheel even with the other adjustments that can be made.
Unfortunately I have very very long legs, I mention this in my car reviews but didn't feel the need to mention it in this video as it wasn't relevant. If I sit closer my knees will touch the steering wheel so I have to sit much further back than most!
Sadly no I haven’t experienced snow for a long time here in the UK. It’s been many many years! However as an EV it will be a lot heavier so hopefully should grip the road better. And if you have snow tyres like winter tyres it’ll be the best it can be

Spot on 👍
Ah no sorry, I said: “You start to move…it’ll just slam on the anchors”. ⚓️
I did say it quite fast to be fair 😅
Thank you! Glad you enjoy them! 🙏🤓

@@npoleary MORE OF THESE PLEASE!!!
Oh really! Haha
That’s so cool! Never been although I would love to one day! 🙏
Well my local Mercedes help supply some cars from time to time and I’m in contact with their Press Office who help with events and supply cars for a bit longer which helps massively. I wouldn’t be able to do it without them all!
But they don’t pay me though! I used to work at my local dealer but that was a long time ago, I do this full time, no car manufacturer pays for anything. I produce all of these videos myself 🙏
@@npoleary well you’re definitely noticed. Keep it up!👍🏼
Just watched this tutorial and it was incredibly helpful! I’ll be getting my Mercedes-Benz next week, and this has helped me a lot in understanding some of the features I’ll need to change 😊
Oo very nice! 👌🏼 what did you go for? (If you don’t mind sharing)
Thanks for watching!
@@npoleary CLA Coupe
Nice! 👌🏼
Thank you! Yup! I can vouch for that.
It even does it reversing onto my drive sometimes! 😅
Just found you Nick. Great video. Getting ready to buy a new Mercedes and I guarantee I’ll be watching all your content. Thank you.
Oh awesome! Thank you! Well if you have any questions fire away in the comments section!
Which one you potentially going for? (If you don’t mind sharing)
I love my new GLE Coupe more and more when I watch your videos. I learn a lot.
Thank you! 🙏 glad you enjoy the videos!
Ooo nice 👌🏼
Glad you enjoyed this one!
Yes might need to make an updated video on that one!
Gran video, Nick. Me encantan estos tipos de vídeo. Un saludo
I have had my new Mercedes for 9 months now and l am still learning new tips thanks to your videos. Keep them coming.
Thank you! Glad you find them interesting!
Haha yeah I don’t read manuals (sort of)
I learn by pressing buttons and if I need to…then I’ll go to the manual 🤓
Hey Nick, you are the first man on YT Moto's World, which I subscribed after first video... really good job ! ;) I'm picking up my new GLC in February 2025, so this might be helpful :)

Love these videos, Nick, more HOW TO rather than RATE different models. You are the best on how to, thanks
Awh thank you! Just keeping a balance of content as I know people love these videos but then also do enjoy the reviews too! 👀
Aha there we go! 🙏
Yes I wish it was early by default!
Hi Nick, brilliant videos, thank you. Is there any way to turn up the sound when the indicators/hazard lights are operating? It's so faint that it's easy to forget to cancel them.
Thank you! No sadly not seen a way to do this on any Mercedes, they’re programmed at factory I believe 🙏
Have tried a few things and often end up turning off Bluetooth which is less than ideal
Thanks,

Nick, thanks for the great tip video, as a new C43 owner the MBUX system is driving me insane, I almost want to get rid of the car due to the complexity of the system, Im trying everything to understand how it works and your videos definitely help, My favorite tip for this video is controlling apple carplay, I must have turned it off by accident and it hasn’t been working for several weeks, You may have saved me a trip to the dealer to get it back on,Thanks again for all the great tip you provided!
Yes this is a new thing my old A200 no problems my new GLA the Hey Mercedes and Apple CarPlay seem to class all the time
That’s alright! Glad you enjoyed the video! 🙏
Let me know if you have any questions or frustrations etc and I’ll explain.
Unless you meant other car reviewers etc
I believe it will automatically update on cars that have the driving assistance pack but for others just a quick update from the steering wheel with the button
Love your presentation Nick. It’s just brilliant!
My one big hope-I would like my screen on new GLC coupe to show a digital clock face large enough to be seen from the rear seats. It’s quite annoying that MB has got rid of the analog face dial and forgot to put the digital version on the screen!
Thank you! 🙏 glad you enjoyed it! 🤓

Hey Nic, love your videos! We have a GLE450/2024 and I find it often forgets my seat and steering wheel settings. What am I doing wrong?
Thank you! That sounds like you’re not using a profile, have you linked the car to your Mercedes account?
Love the vids as always Nick 😁👍

Help!
Thank you!
No sadly it’ll cause more questions than I’ll know how to answer 😅
The reasons being, some Mercedes models can’t do it at all because they don’t have electric seats (sounds obvious but I still get questions) Another is in the UK, just because it has electric seats does’t mean it’ll have it and finally each model that does have it, it solely depends on what Mercedes have set as a threshold for it to work.
Thanks very much
Love your videos and reviews, can you please do the same but with BMW idrive system?.
Thank you! Possibly! I might look at that in the future! We’ll see 👀
I do have something booked in 🤫
Push and hold mute on rhe steering wheel will also turn off speed limit warning.
Who's that bloke presenting this vid? Lol😂 Nick always wears black jeans and black t shirt. See you next week fella. Great vid as always.
Haha I do for a lot of it
I just kind of always have, from time to time I might wear something else 😅
In Switzerland “Early warning” or “Warn all around” doesn’t make sense. Parking lots and shopping center’s garages are so narrow so the car beeps all the time. I turned it off right away.
Drive away assist should not be able to be deactivated by anyone over the age of 60 - the amount of cars I have seen and herd of launched into the front of shops due to the elderly driver slamming down on the accelerator instead of the brake is alarming!
Over the age of 60! You have offended an awful lot of people out there.
MB Operating System MBOS looks promising hope it brings some good features
Can’t wait to check it out!
Thank you! 🙏
Personally what I would do is go to settings and turn it all off. Then on the door, make sure you’ve got your seat programmed in memory one, then adjust the seat to where you would like the seat to move to (for your own custom easy entry and exit). Make sure you do the steering wheel as well, the save to Mem 3.
Memory 1 - For Driving
Memory 3 - Easy Entry and Exit
Men 2 can be for another driving position etc or for something else
Or the other way round etc
Buen vídeo 😉
En mi caso en lo referente a semáforos al tener head-up display el propio coche te indica zona de semáforos o de paso de peatones.
Yo desde luego recomiendo totalmente este extra
Very good as ever Nick.
A couple of q's -
Is there a way of setting up the parking sensors to operate at a definitive distance - say for example I want to park 6 inches away from the end of my garage? The standard and early warning option seems a bit too subjective to my mind :)
I like the Traffic Light view option but if I don't have it in my car, would Mercedes be prepared to upgrade my system in order to incorporate it?
@@npoleary OK mate. So it's a no,no,no. Never mind:)
Thank you! @ stuartbaker444 🙏
So, it sounds like you have Apple CarPlay enabled?
If so:
Go to Settings on your iPhone
Select Siri & Search or Apple Intelligence & Siri
Select Announce Notifications
Turn off Announce Notifications for CarPlay
@lorins8687 haha I’m not sure people will just give their car away! 😅
Oh by the way I’m hoping you that saw my reply yesterday. There were all of those spam messages (I get those sometimes) so I replied to you, reported them and removed them. Wasn’t sure if you saw my reply as it would have been deleted after reporting it.

Great video , is it possible to turn off the feature that lowers the volume when leasing to music when approaching a stop sign or red light ,
Thank you
Thank you! Oh really? I haven’t ever heard that before…which model and year do you have and whereabouts are you based (as I know specs vary round the world)
@@npolearygood to hear from you , 2022 C300 , I’m from USA thank you
I’ve heard of an automatic volume for the variation of speed.
(Unless car manufacturers adopt the next gen CarPlay but that doesn’t exist yet)
You can use the MBUX navigation but you’d have to go into CarPlay and then come back out of it and even then it’ll only read notifications over Siri
Great!
Hi Nick, could you tell me how one can turn down the sound of the left and right turn signals?
Sadly not seen a way to make them quieter or louder on Mercedes vehicles. They’re all fixed at factory with no settings to adjust afterward.
@@npoleary Such a sharp tick on them, cotton in the speaker ;)
Hi. I’ve been considering a A200 for a few weeks now. Q can you use it without logging in / no profile? - just don’t want MB to follow me around etc.
If you’re after the most minimalistic experience with regards to data / tracking etc
Make a Mercedes me account (or Mercedes me ID).
If you want to chat more privately about it, email me here: “contact@npo-media.co.uk”
Happy to help if you have more questions about it!
Great video, Nick. Some sterling tips, thank you. I see that at 5 minute 11 seconds there are phone numbers in view. Not sure if this is okay with you. FYI.
Haha thank you! Yeah they’re local businesses, I checked 🙏🙏 I could blur them on UA-cam I guess to be on the safe side but they’re public numbers anyway 🤓
Thanks for keeping an eye out for me! 😜
No worries. Perhaps they'd liked the possible extra business. 😊
Haha maybe!
I have a dedicated video I made on it this year on my channel if you want to watch it, it highlights everything you’ve asked here.
ua-cam.com/video/xkXyOzoLpO0/v-deo.htmlsi=gTrNlBiocAV_38y9
The dashcam camera in the UK is like a video camera, you hit start and it stops when you leave the car. There are no extra parking modes or incident saving compared to a 3rd party dashcam. If you need those I’ve reviewed those separately: ua-cam.com/video/8ebjU6TelQ8/v-deo.htmlsi=FwC2kCX_UwIxXAh0
Hey nick, what do you think about the 2025 cla Mercedes have started teasing?
I’ve just come back from Germany…video coming soon.
That’s all I’ll say for now….👀
@ 👀👀👀
Zero Layer is also available on my 2024 EQB ;-)
How do I get my dashcam to loop record automatically? I live in Guernsey where there are no geo restrictions, it’s just so annoying having to switch it on every trip. C300 2022 model saloon
Loop recording refers to recording and then when the memory stick is full, it’ll start over.
It’s the same here there is no “Auto Start” you have to start the recording session manually.
Suggestion, show on the steering wheel how to set favorites on your display and mbux
No sadly not for CarPlay, it’ll just connect to the last connected phone. You can do it for MBUX Bluetooth though 🤓
Can you make a video on Ridevu when it arrives in UK cars? It's currently not available in the EQS as advertised.
Oh yeah I heard of something announced at the start of the year…not heard anything since though
Is it true MB is going to stop making the A Class soon? How will that impact price for second hand A Class? VW stopped making the Scirocco in 2018 and I was thinking of buying a used one but the prices was staggeringly high.
I’ve heard this rumour…if I hear anything official I’ll make a video about it!
Certain elements of the Speedometer can be changed from the centre screen on the middle of the car:
Home
Settings
System
Units
Headlamps it depends what lights you have, are they LED High Performance Lights or MULTIBEAM LED.
Hi Nick can you do a video on reheat for 2024 Mercedes vehicles?
Reheat? Like on plug-in hybrids and EV’s? The heating function?
Hi nick I've got the new mercedes cla 250e regarding direct commands I've only got 2 listed on my car how do you get more direct commands is there an update.
Oh really only 2? Out all the car’s I’ve reviewed I’ve always seen a whole list of them so not sure why there would only two commands.
Might be worth getting in touch with the dealer! I’m sure they can check for you
@npoleary thanks nick will speak to the dealership
Nick thank you so much for this, my friend and I learnt all we know about our mercs from you. I never looked at my manual book thingy lol . I’ve ordered a GLA 250e AMG line premium plus I was told I will get the new 2025 model, they did not have one in showroom . Can you please do a video on the 2025 model. Thanking you in advance Nick ❤

Well the 2025 model won’t have a different shape as it’s only just had a facelift. But…there will be of course be the new registration and any specs that might have changed etc
But yeah if I get my hands on one, I wouldn’t mind covering it again and see what’s different 🤓
@@npolearyThank you ever so much for your response I do appreciate.
Forever MB has had a reheat function in their cars having to do with humidity control ( i believe). For some reason in my 2024 S580 sometimes when I turn off the car the internal heat function kicks on….?
I’ve seen it on some cars but not all of them have it
It was called “rest” where it drew heat from the engine.
Oh I’ve already made a video on that: ua-cam.com/video/hS-Rn_-uHdA/v-deo.htmlsi=yg_Z6Z5PnLsJukaf
Hope that helps!
@@npoleary Top man! Thanks Nick. I knew if there was some little factoid I needed answering, you would be the chap to ask. The car is great, but that one thing was bugging me. And those Adaptive LED lights are utterly insane! Thanks
@PlanetScribbles no worries! It’s quite cool! Except for the fact I don’t often lean over to the other side of the car to get things 😅
I’d probably have it off as well, but it could be useful for others!
What model is this car?
GLC Coupe ☺️

Access protection is really annoying, I disabled this feature after watching this video
@ Thanks Nick. Highly appreciated, keep the good vids coming.
For some reason in the Netherlands the camera for augmented reality, traffic light view and dashcam is only delivered on AMG cars, even if you have a full option AMG line car the camera isn’t mounted. 😢
Chip shortage according our dealer (wensink)
Mercedes I’m sure like most car manufacturers adjust their specification throughout the year a few times (new brochures, adjusted pricing, specs etc) so keep an eye out! You never know it might come back!
@@JJD7618 klopt ja, volgens mijn dealer ook, Van Mossel. Maar in andere landen wordt de camera gewoon nog geleverd. Nu heb ik een full option EQB AMG line maar zonder augmented reality, traffic light view en dashcam. 😡
Can you cover the loudness/speed volume?
Is that the one where it adjusts the volume for the speed you’re doing? On some models I’ve seen an auto volume adjustment in settings on the radio or media page.
Yes.
Yeah have a look in settings at the bottom of the radio page / media page 👍🏼
need review for all the apk on MBUX
How can i create an account on the new MBUX if the Mercedies me is not working in my region?
Really not sure on that one sorry as I’ve never visited a country without access to Mercedes me
You’ll have to ask to ask someone who works at Mercedes
@@npoleary In Egypt it's not working unfortunately
If you turn the pin number requirement off and the car was stolen, couldn't the thief turn off the vehicle location on the system? Just asking👍
Probably I wouldn’t use that system though to track a car though because of this. I made a video about it a couple of years ago. It’s more for personal use to see where you’ve parked 🙏
If you need it for tracking for theft, I’d recommend getting a tracker installed 👌🏼
Can one turn off the PINs & still choose between multiple profiles?
Yeah you can have the PIN enabled for one profile and off for the others (up to 7). Or have all the PIN’s off, or have all the PIN’s on.
Up to the person and their profile! 🤓
What about the fingerprint option, doesn’t that eliminate the need to put a pincode in? Just scan your fingerprint
It can but then it still adds another step, which may become annoying if you’re just one driver / owner.
Plus not all cars have a fingerprint sensor. I know this model did but there’s been a few that don’t have it.
Lovely :)
Mbux 7 only right?
Tips 2, 3, 4 & 6 would be relevant for the previous gen MBUX 😇
Is there really only one USB-C socket in my car? Can I get more fitted?
What car do you have? 😅
That would be cool! 👌🏼
Wouldn't surprise me if Nick receives a £1600 repair bill from Mercedes for damage to the front registration plate 😂
That would be an expensive number plate 😅
From "Bought a new phone? Change these settings" to "Bought a new car? Change these settings?"
Cars are becoming too complicated nowadays
Not complicated, just more customisable 🤓
Cars have been like this for years where you can customise these things
lol I get a bmw add before your video starts
Haha sadly I can’t control what adds are played at the start, during or end of the videos. However…it does reflect on your browsing session so maybe you’ve been browsing for BMW’s! 😝 haha
That or German cars, they’re all pretty good!
Thanks for watching though 🤓🙏
Will the PIN stop car thieves?
Hmmm…so the PIN is purely for locking your profile on the multimedia system.
So if the car is started with the key, then it can be driven away. The only difference with the PIN enabled is that someone can’t get into your profile to see your sat nav home / history etc and adjust your settings.
0% hate, I recommend an other voice for the Spanish audio track, this one is annoying :p
UA-cam are rolling out this audio dubbing feature, is it accurate by any chance? You can change it on the settings at the bottom of the player
Turning off the pin
Yeah 👍🏼 defo one I’d recommend! 🙏
Your seatbelt is too low on your shoulder!
So I have naturally very long legs, I mention this in my reviews but didn't feel the need to mention it here in this video as it wasn't relevant. I have to sit in a certain position in a car or my legs will hit the steering wheel even with the other adjustments that can be made.
Sittng position is terrible.
Unfortunately I have very very long legs, I mention this in my car reviews but didn't feel the need to mention it in this video as it wasn't relevant. If I sit closer my knees will touch the steering wheel so I have to sit much further back than most!
Is there any way to change the voice of the navigation in the new mbux? The woman’s voice is really annoying.
No sadly not, a lot of cars only have one voice these days :(
Do you by any chance known if EQE SUV is good in snow with snow tire as a daily driver?
Sadly no I haven’t experienced snow for a long time here in the UK. It’s been many many years!
However as an EV it will be a lot heavier so hopefully should grip the road better. And if you have snow tyres like winter tyres it’ll be the best it can be
Ah Nick great video again.
Thank you! @ stuartbaker444 🙏
So, it sounds like you have Apple CarPlay enabled?
If so:
Go to Settings on your iPhone
Select Siri & Search or Apple Intelligence & Siri
Select Announce Notifications
Turn off Announce Notifications for CarPlay
