Honest Trailers was definitely holding back😅
I thought so too
“Sebastian…a crab designed in such defiance of God’s plan…” 😂😂
Honest Trailers forgot to mention how Ariel fought Vanessa for trying to take Eric from her in this version, unlike the 1989 version where the birds & sea animals fought Vanessa instead.
Not only Ariel got into a cat fight, she also murdered her own aunt 🤦♀️
@Sishel her Aunt vaporized her father in front of her. Ariel was avenging King Triton 💁🏿♂️
@@Kentrc11 Ariel = Hamlet confirmed.
@@ribozyme2899 well, that's not untrue
OH! I hadn't even made the connection before, but it's so obvious now: The Little Mermaid was a Danish tale, and Hamlet is literally Prince of Denmark!
These Disney live-action remakes are the "garbage movies" Zachary Levi was probably warning us about.
Ironic considering it is coming from Levi of all people 😂
The newer ones at least
Should’ve listened to Shazam.
I love the accountability requested upon the crustacean band 😂😂😂
So glad I passed this movie up. The classics will live on forever.
The underwater scenes make me think the CG team has never been underwater.
Yep!
“Finding Nemo”, which is 20 YEARS OLD, looked better than “The Little Mermaid” (2023).
I'm pretty sure he was just her favourite because she was the youngest and parents are usually more protective and doting towards their youngest
Whenever Ariel's not on screen, all the other characters should be asking, "Where's Ariel?"

Even when Ariel’s on screen I keep asking “Where’s Ariel?”
@@rnb2087its a simpsons reference. Its when homer makes suggestions about Poochie the Dog.
"Ariel died on the way back to her home planet." Amusingly, given she no longer can breathe underwater by the end (unless this movie changed that), that *would* actually apply.

A group of y'all said that Barbie wasn't woke, despite having: a black Barbie, Latina Barbie, transgender Barbie, and talking about feminism and feminine supremacy. I don't know if Disney realized that by King Triton having many diversified children, we can all assume he had many diversified wives. Or were some of the kids adopted.
It’s possible, but then again, the 2008 Broadway show had Triton’s daughters be multiracial and no one seemed to question that.
It seemed like they all had the same mother to me, kinda a brandy's cinderella situation yk
+ they’re mermaids so anything is possible really and them being multiracial is supposed to represent the different oceans more.
@@anastasiassecret3837 Brandy is the one of the very few raceswaps that gets a bit of leeway because That was done at the time when they didn’t get much roles like that, but it’s 2023 now and that excuse doesn’t work anymore.
Fishes do not reproduce like humans. I understand that the eggs are fertilised in the water. It's easy for me to imagine that Triton used his magic to have the fertilised eggs resemble the people of the seas that his daughter would rule over.
Somehow, they made Ursula's *horror upon realizing she inadvertently killed Flotsam and Jetsam* even more convincing here than in the animated version..
The movie is lit like a Saw movie, I'm not surprised the horror comes across better.
@@ArchibaldClumpyThat seems like an extreme example but I laughed SUPER hard nonetheless 😂
I just find it so stupid that so many people got mad about them changing the lyrics to "Kiss the girl" so that wether Ariel was consenting wasn't debated.

"While Javier Bardem's King Triton, is happy to let his beard to do the acting."
Good one!
Meh.
I loved the part where Ariel says: "GET OVER HERE!"
Or when she got her tail back and squealed "It's mermaidin' time!"
Just a reminder the story was Never originally set in the caribbean. This film did that to make it fit their story
The story was always set in denmark
You were right up until you said Denmark. That just comes from HCA being Danish and the fan theory that the sunken ship was Anna and Elsa's parents. However the original story is not explicitly set anywhere, and neither is the original Disney version, although the designs of the latter look vaguely Mediterranean to me (and most certainly NOT Danish).
This is Disney telling everyone that Black children couldn't possibly have enjoyed the original cartoon of The Little Mermaid because Ariel was White...
And I don't think that's true.
I'm not Chinese, but that didn't make me enjoy Mulan any less.
According to Rob Marshall, he hired Halle Bailey's because she was just that great a singer. They auditioned a lot of people but she was the best, in their opinion. I think for ot to be disrespectful they'd have to have hired her because of her race and not consider talent.
@@felizcuervito I do not for one second believe that.
She was hired because of her skin color.

Just state the fact that you can't recapture a Disney classic just by slapping live-action and new songs on it
They aren't trying to recapture anything. They're just trying to make money

Pretty sure the reason it’s poorly adapted is the shitty writing and special effects, not the skin color of the fictional character being different.
