its also kinda not true. she constantly tries to help and want to help but her affection is rebuffed. imagine if every time you tried to show someone you cared they asked you to stop? that would mess anyone up.
Eh, True, but even when you live rent Free and others do all work then you feel guilty and drepssed for not having a meaninging, purpose. Flower Girl's power is a lot less useless than folks seem to think. They live in an agrarian society, someone who can grow a year's worth of crops in like 30 seconds would be invaluable. But, for some reason, all she's allowed to do is flower arranging.
It's said in the novelization that Isa actually doubted if her abilities were useful to the community. It's because Abuela lived vicariously through Isa and encouraged her to be more decadent than utilize her power. Abuela was preventing her abilities from growing because she projected on Isa. That's why her making a cactus caught off guard and was the trigger to create something more useful. She thought her abilities was merely making flowers, not knowing she can create a jungle's worth of plant diversity.
Its abuela. She forced isa being a perfect child, a dainty beautiful maiden, growing a farm isnt exactly how a maiden should look like. So abuela make isa grow the plant that fit an image of a perfect maiden, a flower.
Since she seems surprised when she makes the first cactus (she calls it unexpected and new) I wonder if she knew she could grow things other than flowers. Literally unable to discover her full potential because of the mold.
I feel certain after she rebels and starts growing cactus, she can grow more mundane things like wheat and grain. Just she didn’t have to for so long. Plus she grew that gigantic palm tree in her house, so sure she could grow coconut trees.
The Bruno song is just incredibly cruel and even worse when you realize *he's right there*. "My sister has been holding in simmering resentment for 10 YEARS because I made a bad joke?" "My nephew thinks I'm some kind of pale demi-human boogeyman." "This is my niece. She doesn't remember me. Why are you poisoning her against me like this?" "Oh yeah. This is the family I wanted to protect. Definitely worth it. Mirabel, you may have anxiety but at least they don't actively hate you."

@@rushmaverick1923 A seemingly unimportant distinction, except that her father, Felix and even Abuela are all muggles. The only difference is that she failed expectation.
Dolores’ gift goes way deeper than that. She can hear every depraved secret, every horrible lie and unconscionable act in town. It’s probably how she’s so sure she’s into that guy her sister was gonna marry. She’s literally gotten to know every option in town and knows it’s her best option. Edit: thanks for all the likes and I get it, She’s her cousin, not her sister.
@@imc440 She also sings about him in the present tense "I _can_ always hear him sort of muttering and mumbling I associate him with the sound of falling sand..." and later in the choir she goes; "It's like I can hear him now, I can hear him now". It's very subtle and well played. She might be unsure wether if she was hearing him in her head or for real... which sometimes happens with conventional hearing, or else she _can_ hear everything but might not be great at judging how far things she hears are? It's also possible that if the fan theory that her room is sound-proof is correct, she might be inside her room during the night when Bruno is most active : P
Depends on her kinks of course but has definately potential. Mh, she's the second oldest of her generation... Oh oh. Antonia is 14 years younger than she is...
I was thinking about this the other day, especially when she said she knew bruno never left, and she could hear Luisa's eye twitching lmao activities behind doors would have definitely not gone unheard 😆
My theory is Dolores' room is soundproof. If everyone's rooms are tailored to their gift, then it would be reasonable to assume Dolores gets a space where she can just not hear the entire valley for a change. EDIT: Okay. Hi there. You may have noticed the more than 50 replies to this comment. Well, that's a lie, there are actually THREE replies to this comment. Since people can't be bothered to read even one of them before adding their own, I'll put them here so we can try something else, m'kay? 1. But she heard Luisa's eye twitching all night. 2. They were at Antonio's party when she heard Luisa's eye twitching, not in her room. 3. It was confirmed on Twitter by the creators that her room is soundproof. There. Now you don't have to scroll down to get the point, and we can stop rehashing the same three comments.
Yep I agree. Someone before tried to point out she could hear Luisa’s eye twitching in her room but it was sometime after that (and i never found the post again) that I realized they were all in Antonio’s room that night, probably partying all night, so it actually checks out. Poor girl tho, I would never leave my room. Especially since she can’t control what she hears.
@@Miyanoai14 I think she can sorta control it, or at least focus it. Like there's a lot of scenes where she cups her hands by her ears to hone in on a specific sound or conversation. But yeah, I imagine that people wait til night where they assume she closes her door before they start talking gossip or doing their bedroom business.
I lost it at “Surface Pressure”. Not just because of the lyrics, but because “the Lin Manuel Miranda Is Trying to Tell Us Something Song” is literally the thought I had when I heard that song!
First, I cried over that song because it felt like Lin-Manuel Miranda took my diary and set it to music! But then, the next time I heard it, yes, that was my same thought, too. I know he said he wrote it in tribute to his sister but it feels like what he might be going through, too. Did you see his other movie that came out in 2021 called *"VIVO"?* The music is amazing and he does the music AND voices the main character. And THE Gloria Estafan is in it, too!
@@dr.braxygilkeycruises1460 Love VIVO! The songs in it are so catchy. I have my gripes with it but the creativity and effort into making it outshine them.

Being able to hear things from a mile away doesn't necessarily also translate into "through walls". Stone and earth can block sound pretty effectively and I'm pretty sure every structure in their town is made of some sort of earth.
Considering those couples are relatives to her. Yeah....not a happy time. Especially when she knows that they know that she knows everything that happens within their bedroom walls at night. At this point, It's a power move for any of them to make eye contact during the day.
"Corporate needs you to find the difference between this line and this line" "The magic is strrrrong" "There is no war in Ba Sing Se" "They are the same line"
I didn’t realize the candle going out represented burn out but that makes absolute sense. I also didn’t realize Julietta was repressed but that makes sense too.
I like how the villain is "being gaslit by your grandma" instead of "the villain is grandma, who gaslit you". It's the same thing, but some people seem to have a hard time holding two facts in their head at once (Abuela's a good person who was traumatized and is doing her best AND her the way she treats her kids and grandkids has consequences). So it's good to say the villain is emotional abuse, not the villain is a traumatized woman. For those people who can't see that both can be true.
I always add into the argument that while Abuela did gaslight everyone in her family, she never gave them expectations she didn't live up to herself. Always perfect, always strong, always working? Abuela did all of that while raising three triplets alone and taking care of everyone. There's a reason she's the pillar of the village. She gaslit everyone because she didn't realize she was carrying too much on her own shoulders. She just assumed that they would be fine because she did it herself.
I haven't seen the movie, but I think someone who causes emotional abuse is qualified to be considered a villain for the sake of the story. I mean, would you think differently if it were physical abuse? The consequences of emotional abuse are deeper and longer lasting than physical abuse, though both may have psychological consequences.
I love how each triplet's power reflects their birth order. Julieta's cooking helps heal the pain of the past, Pepa's ability reflects the present, the changing times, and Bruno is the future, something that we NEVER want to talk about.
Also! Mirabel’s outfit contains elements of everyone else’s! Her glasses are the same green as Bruno’s, she wears the same style dress as Louisa, and the embroidery on it matches the colors of the rest of the family, with the symbolic miracle butterfly patterned across the top
NO! NO! NO! Many people say I am sick in the head. NOOOO!!!! I don't believe them. But there are so many people commenting this stuff on my videos, that I have 1% doubt. So I have to ask you right now: Do you think I am sick in the head? Thanks for helping, my dear tri
“If that is your real name! Oh. It is.” That’s…a good point. The doors are supposed to have names for everyone, but her door just says Abuela. Like, did it say Abuela before she even become a grandmother?
I think the door update their looks constantly hence why Abuela get that Abuela name in his door when she finally become an Abuela Luisa door is showing how currently her looks now, not showing her 5 y.o. look..Isabella too, Bruno too, Dolores too, etc BUT Antonio's door showing Antonio in his current looks So it still make a sense
Technically squib is more accurate, I suspect they used muggle because that's more well known. Squib is probably recognizable to most HP fans, but I think that muggle is more well known even to people who have never read or seen HP.
I've watched this movie twice and feel like the whole movie gets solved if they don't blame Bruno for seeing the future and just ask follow up questions
Not really. The main conflict comes from the pressure and expectations that Abuela puts on the family to be perfect. Bruno was just a casualty of that.
I always loved the disparity between the work that needs to go into Bruno seeing the future and the prophesy he sees. Imagine all that swirling sand and stuff just for him to say your goldfish will die tomorrow...
@@davidwilliams4596 unfortunately it's all too common in conversations that people aren't really listening and just waiting for the next break or pause for them to start talking.
Right, but just like we don't talk about Bruno, we don't discuss trauma in big, Hispanic families! Seriously, the footwork being done by the younger generations to work towards better mental health in our families is HUGE!
First song was just the realest thing, that entire family did need therapy. One of my favorite things to come from Encanto is the rise in families realizing they need to talk about all their hidden issues.
A family being gaslighted by its traumatized elders refusing to talk about family issues with the countless grandchildren that make up the younger generation? Where would they get an idea like that?!?!? *Sips tea in Español* 😂😂😂 But for reals, great movie and soundtrack!
I think Isabela is capable of growing agriculture, but was pressured from birth to be the ~pretty~ and ~perfect~ Madrigal, and didn’t develop her powers since she restrained herself. We saw she was able to grow more plants once she was more honest with her negative emotions. I would love to see like an Encanto II that explored more of everyone’s power evolving, and maybe Mirabel stepping into the role of Abuela since it seems like her “power” is being the core of casita.
Omg yes! Continue the theme by really showing all the good that can come from experiencing the whole range of life and not just the pretty bits. I’d love seeing Luisa content and peaceful in her soft tenderness. The shapeshifter being himself, etc.
I feel like 'my powers would grow like the GRAPES that thrive on the vine' was meant to be a hint... too bad no one in the family caught on. Maybe now they will!
I believe Bruno doesn’t have OCD but rather is superstitious. He has lived his life being told he’s a bad omen, so he does his best to keep the bad vibes away from him by throwing salt & sugar and being cautious of certain areas of the house. Or he has both, idk, this is simply my opinion.
I have OCD and it is true that Bruno's actions are very similar to my own experience. However the line between superstition and straight up disorders is very blurry. If it regularly interfere with your life, it becomes a disorder
Yeah, that *is* a large part of OCD _(although Bruno doesn't seem to recognise he's being irrational, so I don't think he could actually be diagnosed with it; knowing you're acting irrationally is required for an OCD diagnosis)._
I think it verges into OCD territory with the sheer amount he does his rituals. He has salt everywhere which means he does this consistently, holds his breath and crosses his fingers when entering a small space, and his knocking ritual is compulsive. Its made of common superstitions, but the compulsive nature is what makes it OCD!
Ok but can we talk about the song parodies?? They're straight up amazing! Not only are the lyrics genius but the singing is top notch! Not to mention the overall hillarious commentary on the movie hahah absolutely loved this one xd
@@ELeeHamm Oh most certainly idk what even was that xdd It was anything but a good performance, they didn't even get all the actors to sing their parts like in the case of Camilo or Dolores :(

Yup! The people jumping on the hate train just prove they didn't understand the story. Latino families understand how it is to have a relative like that and how difficult it is for them to admit they did any wrong
True. I saw somewhere a joke that the real villains were the townspeople who tried to out Mirabel not having gifts to the kids [which I'm very surprised they had not figured out way before] and also Dolores for not slipping up on Mirabel, but keeping her lips tight about Bruno.
Isabella actually has one of the strongest powers. She can grow any crops instantly so there is an unlimited food supply. And she can create thrones/vines and poisonous plants that can kill you.
@@cymond But how detrimental are the effects of telling a girl, "Be yourself instead of the little Disney princess your grandma is trying to make you out to be?"
The thing with Bruno's power is that they all misunderstood how to properly use it. If he sees unavoidable visions of bad things, then just use them to prepare for the thing and deal with it. Quit wasting your time trying to avoid it.
My theory is that those villager predictions had nothing to do with Bruno’s powers. 1. She’s walking around with a goldfish in a fish bowl. A goldfish isn’t going to have a long lifespan living like that. Bruno was just making a reasonable observation 2. The guy was probably eating a LOT, and again, Bruno made a simple observation 3. Bald guy probably had hair loss in the family. Again, it was a hypothesis based on a simple observation You don’t need magical powers to notice these things. Bruno either made reasonable guesses in response to being harassed by villagers OR he just blurted them out because he lacked a filter
Bruno is the hero of the story 🔮 he was already facing difficulties because people thought his predictions were ill omens, yet when he foresaw Mirabel being involved in the possible destruction of their home, he kept her safe by not revealing his vision and disappearing. he knew if he told the others what he saw they would misunderstand and be hard on Mirabel, who was only a little girl back then, so he did the best he could to protect her.
couldn't he have kept it a secret and NOT got into hiding? i always thought he went into hiding because it seemed like nobody in the village or family liked him around.

They are meant to voice the viewers' confusion, I think. For a movie, this is many characters that get introduced all at once, and despite the song, I got distracted from the plot trying to keep them apart in the beginning.
don't forget they all live in encanto and are detached from the rest of society, so maybe in encanto, no other family rivals the madrigals in how many kids they have.
Imagine what being called Bruno is like now that Luca and Encanto are out. Must be tough If you live in Italy and all your friends say "silenzio Bruno" when they see you...
Somebody might’ve already thought of this, but my theory is that everyone’s gift was supposed to make up for a personal deficit/fear Luisa = fear of being incapable Camillo = doesn’t know who he is Dolores = fear of missing out Bruno = fear of the unknown Abuela = fear of losing her home again Antonio = social anxiety And so on … but Mirabel didn’t need a gift to be whole so she didn’t get one.
@Curly-n-Girly My best guess would be the fear of nothing ever changing, so she was given the gift of growth. She was the toughest one for me, because so much of her character is shaped by her environment and the pressure to be perfect. It’s hard to tell who she was before her gift.
I found it funny how they were saying the family was so big and it was hard to keep up with who's who, when the family isn't that huge, I mean my grandparents had 8 kids and those 8 kids have 27 kids of their own (in total). So, I mean, their family is relatively average sized 😅😂
plus, i felt like the movie actually did a great job of giving them all their own personalities and enough screen time! unlike raya and the last dragon, we actually spend almost all of the movie on the casita getting to know this family, and i think that was a really good choice (although i still think dolores totally deserved her own song. i get why they didn't, since they only gave songs to mirabel's sisters, but i think her character could be so interesting to explore further. plus they could do some really cool musical stuff with that by playing on the themes of quiet and loud, which they already started doing by making her verse in wdtab much softer and quicker than the others.) (sorry that got off topic-)
The Madrigals’ powers would be great to ward off attacks from whoever attacked Abuela’s village. Bruno predicts it. Pepa screws with the weather to their advantage. Julieta can fix any injury in a second. Camilo, Antonio and Dolores spy and eavesdrop. Isabela keeps them fed or attacks with plants. Luisa could play human bowling with the enemy.
I think the real villain in Encanto is unresolved trauma. Everyone in that family needs therapy and it started with Abuela. Also, I still think Surface Pressure is better than the Bruno Song.
Actually, Abuela's name is Alma but the people in this movie called her Abuela. Also, if Julietta can heal people with the food, shouldn't she be able to heal Mirabel's eyesight so she doesn't need to wear glasses anymore?
What my family’s theory is that Julieta heals things that happened to you (bee stings, breaking arms, getting cuts, etc), but since Maribel was born like that then she can’t really heal her sight.
The Director already stated that why she didn't heal Mirabel's or Agustin's eye sight is because it's simply who they are and changing it doesn't seem right.
@@doctorkong3065 hahaha nope. It depends on the perspective, from a Philosophical Standpoint, it's beautiful that she doesn't wanna change who they are, their eyesight is basically part of their identity but from an Average person standpoint, it might sound dumb. These are the words from the directors _Julieta saw no reason to "fix" Mirabel's eyesight, since it is "just who [she is] and she wouldn't want to change it."_ Edit: Also, it does make sense with what Vivian theorized since the eyesight became a part of Mirabel's Identity when she was born with it and the same is most likely true with Agustin.
I just wish they could get more creative with it. Felix looks like Maui, Augustine looks like the King of Arendelle. Disney used to have unique character designs for everyone. For the most part, now they look like characters from other movies.
Agreed: capybaras are like someone took a bear cub's body and stuck an oversized, cute/smug guinea pig head on it with vague suggestions of that hairy butt-chicken from Shang-Chi. Which sounds terrifying, but is adorable.
They’re also nature’s friends! You can put any non-carnivorous animal in an enclosure with capybaras and they’ll get on weirdly well. I’ve personally been suggesting a Disney movie with like a capybara, agouti, coati, maned wolf, and potoo bird gang for years, because I think they’d all look really cute animated. Potoos are basically the perfect “comedy animal sidekick” design, look at that dumbass face

Amazing. Disney hit gold with "let it go" in 2013, tried to recreate it with Moana's "how far will i go", and even Mirabel's song has some similar vibes, yet it is "bruno" that becomes the most addictive (it does have really good beat, though, plus it does have a great polyphony that makes it that much more complex than all other songs)
We’re tired of “chasing your dreams” songs (tho I absolutely adore waiting on a miracle). We want catchy gossip and spill the tea songs. Clearly more relevant.
I rolled my eyes so hard when Mirabel did Elsa's stomp thing in Waiting on a Miracle. Yes, we get it, they want to recreate the popularity of Let it go, but it's so annoying. Even Isabela's song reminded me of Frozen. It's like LMM was throwing everything at the wall, hoping something would stick, and was surprised Bruno's song was the most popular. Colombia, Mi Encanto and Dos Oruguitas are my two other favorites...I wish there was more like that in the movie.
@@mischr13 funny enough the most direct reference was in the last song. When Bruno says “let it rain, let it snow, let it go” you can hear the piano start playing the beginning of let it go in the background. I believe they gave partial credit to the writers of that song.
I'm surprised he didn't mention how the grandma learned from her mistakes and how we emphasize with her at the end when we see her past and fear for the safety of her family which later on was misplaced
I think they didn't mention it because it's only a myth.. Real life toxic Grandma would never say sorry and confess her fault.. She is older, she said she saw and experience more things than you are, So she's always right..
I don't forgive her at the end at all. Sure, she feels a little bad and starts changing her ways a little, but that doesn't make up for being a garbage person for years
I went off about how screwed up this family was and how Abuela was literally abusive to her Grand Daughter and my fiance says, "Hitting a little too close to home is it?"
And the fact that this character is Luigi - wears green -has quirky attitude - is overshadowed by member(s) of their families - on the fan service, is loved more than the protagonist
To be more accurate: generational trauma. She passed on her own trauma. It's not like she was completely fine and decided to torment them just because she's the matriarch.
I love it when they change the lyrics in musical songs to be hilariously self-referential. "Surface Pressure" and "We Don't Talk About Bruno" are both such Bangers!
Nothing says I’m a Disney movie more than making a whole song about not saying someone’s name while throughout the whole song saying that person’s name.

Yeah, it hits like an emotional truck. Especially if you've lived in that sort of situation and you didn't get to wrap everything up and put your family back together after a montage.
Mirabel did have a gift, she was supposed to take over stewardship of Abuela's gift so La Casa Madrigal wouldn't die with her, but Abuela selfishly clung to it which was the cause of the problems with the house a few years later.
@Brandon Quist Every songs is mainly exposition when the characters needs to explain his story with his perspective to Mirabel.. not really her gift since if they didn't tell the exposition by sing it, then this movie is easily unenjoyable for kids.. Imagine Isabella just talk about her struggling to express her true feelings and talent, or imagine Abuela just talk explain everhthing happened in the river, no one would cry.. In scriptwriting it's important to show not tell.. Since people most likely would forget what you told them what happened, but could remember important part of the movie when you showed them what happened.. And this movie use "show and tell" its story perfectly..
The most unexpectedly popular Disney movie in a while since Frozen (while being justifiably better) with a song about not talking about somebody which ironically got a LOT of people talking about it! Who knew? Also Cristina Vee singing vocals for the parody songs here? That's neat!

Dolores’ gift goes way deeper than that. She can hear every depraved secret, every horrible lie and unconscionable act in town. It’s probably how she’s so sure she’s into that guy her sister was gonna marry. She’s literally gotten to know every option in town and knows it’s her best option.

It's also possible that if the fan theory that her room is sound-proof is correct, she might be inside her room during the night when Bruno is most active : P

Ever heard the phrase hurt people hurt people?
I haven't seen the movie, but I think someone who causes emotional abuse is qualified to be considered a villain for the sake of the story. I mean, would you think differently if it were physical abuse? The consequences of emotional abuse are deeper and longer lasting than physical abuse, though both may have psychological consequences.
@@taradonelson9242 That was what I was arguing. Hurt people definitely hurt people. That doesn't excuse the behavior.
There's no villain without trauma, I guess. It's a cicle.

One of the different kinds of ocd is thinking that if you don't perform your "rituals" exactly right then bad things will happen.
He also recites sana sana culito de rana.

If he sees unavoidable visions of bad things, then just use them to prepare for the thing and deal with it. Quit wasting your time trying to avoid it.
Bruno says: Covid!
My theory is that those villager predictions had nothing to do with Bruno’s powers.
1. She’s walking around with a goldfish in a fish bowl. A goldfish isn’t going to have a long lifespan living like that. Bruno was just making a reasonable observation
2. The guy was probably eating a LOT, and again, Bruno made a simple observation
3. Bald guy probably had hair loss in the family. Again, it was a hypothesis based on a simple observation
You don’t need magical powers to notice these things. Bruno either made reasonable guesses in response to being harassed by villagers OR he just blurted them out because he lacked a filter

Bruno is the hero of the story 🔮
he was already facing difficulties because people thought his predictions were ill omens, yet when he foresaw Mirabel being involved in the possible destruction of their home, he kept her safe by not revealing his vision and disappearing. he knew if he told the others what he saw they would misunderstand and be hard on Mirabel, who was only a little girl back then, so he did the best he could to protect her.

I thought it was rather small, too. Both sisters only had 3 kids and bruno never married so there's at least 9 people missing.

Note, she cant heal aging or baldness either, so it's possible that her power only works on injuries.

@@RainWelsh I didn't know about Potoos! they have such a cartoon face it's incredible! :D

*squib 😊
That was such a clever way to address Mirabel lol
Well, the people who married into the family don’t have a gift, right?
@@shoegal
Exactly. Technically Mirabel would be a Squib while Felix & Augustin would be Muggles.
I work at a preschool. We haven't had a song like "We don't talk about Brono" since, "Let it go". The kids sing it all day. At least with "Let it go it was mostly just the girls.
Sounds like you have on your hands a song that isn't perceived to be "gender-locked"
Sounds like a total win
At least Bruno doesn't require the vocal skills that LIG demanded to pull it off

*NOT THAT SONG ABOUT BRUNO!!*
The video's production quality is through the roof of Casa Madrigal, dude.
Where do you even find such talented singers/voice actors? Let alone producing songs of such quality. Mind Blown.
Same thing I thought
I found out that this Honest Trailer was posted because it was Cristina Vee who posted on Twitter that she was the one who sang the part of the Family Madrigal in this video. She's a well known voice actor in many anime and cartoons. She also sings covers and original songs, so it was cool to hear her in this too
“What this family needs is therapy!”
@@micahlazo8011 characters she plays are: The Miraculous Ladybug, Killua zoldyck, Mio Akimyia, latintina/darkness, Shantae, sailor Mars, ami Enan and more
Cristina Vee also voices Xochi from “Victor and Valentino.”
“The wrong kid doored” killed me. Kept asking my family if she was the villain.
🤣 I love walk hard lol
Good thing I watched it for the first time two days ago. Otherwise, that one would've went over my head.
Props to everyone who sang in this honest trailer. They have wonderful voices.
The "Lin Manuel is trying to tell us something, song' killed me. Great job with this one!
i know right!!!! "Over exposed but he can't take a break; money's great"!!!!!! BWUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
They did him dirty at his won game.
The song satire lyrics were perfect. They really do all need therapy. Multi-generational trauma squirts out in all the directions if not addressed.
The parodies you guys did was straight up hilarious!!😂🤣
"Overexposed but he can't take a break." 💀💀💀💀💀😅😅😅😅😅
"The company that colonized your childhood" how could u describe them so accurately
"Meet Mirabel, the family's only muggle." I died when I heard that. Easily the best line here.
She’s more like a half-blood squib, someone without magic from a parent who has it.
@@jbcatz5 Yes, Accurate! Unfortunately though that would also require a good bit of extra explanation; the shorthand "muggle" is much quicker and easier to understand for folks who may not be extensively versed in Harry Potter.
Capybaras ARE super cute, and even wild ones are nice. During lock down u could see them walking around Sao Paulo, whole families of capybara crossing the streets together with people hahaha so funny, they dont mind humans at all xD
I found out about them years ago, and really want to meet one.
In the parts of Colombian that has Capybaras people eat them . Though still agree Capys are really cute and super chill
This was hilarious and I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking that Dolores's hearing has unpleasant side effects.
Abuela's name is Alma, so I wonder if the door changed her name when she became an abuela?
I also have to wonder how Camilo's shape-shifting works because that could create a major invasion of privacy
Most likely door would update its appearance matching the owner appearance.. Luisa door had her looks currently instead of her 5y.o. looks, Isabella too, Bruno too, But Antonio's door didn't have his teenage or adult look, it has Antonio's 5y.o. look since it's what he looks currently..
It's confirmed that doors can change, so probabbly.
Yeah, the doors must change because every child got a door at 5-years-old but everyone's doors are age accurate. They change with time.
@@Cityweaver Well, I know that the doors are confirmed to be able change, but the pictures on everyone's doors seem to be their current age now when they were first on the door. What I think, is that Casita was trying to warn them about when the magic was fading, the ages that they are when the magic is fading were put on the doors. But I still don't think Abuela's door always said Abuela lol
@@MBZ901 I agreed, which is why I said everyone's door changes with time.
"No-Door-a The Explorer" actually made me cry with laughter
2:06 that’s what I’m saying! If she can’t turn it off that’s a huge curse!
Ok but Isabella power is more than just flowers. She can grow plants in general so she's be super useful growing food crops in a famine, in winter months or just to make the community's life easier
We don't have seasons for being so close to the Equatorial line. Even though, yeah, it could be useful and she grows flowers instead
Spices and herbs, yay
@@lgall35 that's because Abuela pressured her to be a dainty princess, concocting flower swings and things like that.

@@liziigelinas8826 🤣
Because it's similar to "Havana o nana" and also have a sort of a madrigal part in the end of that songs..
@@Miyanoai14 ohmygod! I just went and listened to it and you're right. good catch 🤣
Probably one of the most beautifully animated movie I have ever seen, love that style of animation.

I went off about how screwed up this family was and how Abuela was literally abusive to her Grand Daughter and my fiance says, "Hitting a little too close to home is it?"
If you understand that family dynamic, this movie hits like a truck.
“Creepy uncle who watches through the walls” that part has me 💀
"Getting gaslighted by your grandma" made me laugh so hard 🤣
The Luigi's Mansion joke had me 😂 John Leguizamo actually played Luigi in the live action Mario movie.
That's probably why they said it. That had me rolling too though
@@mystaplerisblue What is it with Alan Tudyk voicing animals??? Did he take acting lessons from Frank Welker????
And the fact that this character is Luigi
- wears green
-has quirky attitude
- is overshadowed by member(s) of their families

2:40 YES GASLIGHTING IS EXACTLY WHAT THIS MOVIE IS ABOUT!!!!
I always love Honest Trailers, but honestly, this one was firing on all cylinders with the jokes, freakin hilarious!
We need a full version of “This Family needs therapy”!

that would be more shapeshifting not curing, there is nothing technically wrong with her eyes (no disease/infection/injury). If she could do that she could do anything to a persons body, made them taller, shorter, blond etc.
Jared Bush says Julieta doesn't want to heal Mirabel's eyes.
The "We'll be back after these messages" was SPOT ON! Brought me right back to every movie on tv in the 2000's!
"Dolores has super hearing in a house with two married couples. Definite curse." I can't. 😂
Please say, “You do NOT interrupt the British when they’re having a cup of tea.”
1:29 Just like the Eternals, I associate each of the Madrigals with a color. Although, I'm pretty sure that movie did that for me already.
It took me way too long to realize that's not an actual song from the movie, anyway I'll be singing "This famiily needs all the therapy" non stop in my house...
You should really have emphasized how every fifth word Abuela says is either "magic" or "miracle."
So… I watched this movie because of these parody songs and now I’m totally blaming you for my puffy nose and red eyes from sobbing through most of the second act. Thank you.
Aww glad you enjoyed it!
So basically, Mirabel is like Homer Simpson in "Homer the Great" (the Stonecutters episode).
Wow, that was a strange sentence to say.
Out of all the Family Madrigal members I would like to have the abilities of, it would definitely *NOT* be Dolores's Super-Hearing.
I agree that’s a curse
I just love the clip of Alan Tudyik talking about how he went to Juilliard and now he's playing a chicken 🤣
The most unexpectedly popular Disney movie in a while since Frozen (while being justifiably better) with a song about not talking about somebody which ironically got a LOT of people talking about it! Who knew?
Also Cristina Vee singing vocals for the parody songs here? That's neat!
I like Moana far better than either of those.
