It's totally cool if you watch this video and wind up disagreeing, just had a lot of (like I said in the video) complicated views about the game lately and wanted to put them in a video, especially because it relates to the kind of content I make for you guys - feel free to share your comments below or in my discord server and I'll read through them and take them to heart, thanks for being supportive towards a new kind of video and I appreciate you guys helping me untangle how I feel about this

It’s a mix bag for me. On one hand I can see some valid criticism and concerns but on the other the overall tone makes it come across as a bit whiny and to negative for me to not get defensive. I’d say these conversation style videos are good but the tone of this one isn’t sitting well. Keep up the good work mate and I hope to continue to see you at B.U.N

      This is not WoW.
      It should not become WoW.
I understand that there's not much to do from the content creator angle once the initial expansion/patch stuff is out and covered, it's unfortunate but better than trying to make the same grinds and endgame pillars interesting WoW has been trying to do since the new Legion era, most players are just sick of it because they finally see the treadmill as clear as day.
You're not wrong for wanting this stuff, I just doubt FFXIV is or ever will be that game, and that's good because as you said there are games that fill that niche already.

FF14 is intentionally designed so you can take breaks from it and play other games which a lot of us see as a positive thing. I can see how as a content creator if you tie your identity to one game how it might seem like there isn't enough for you to do. Hopefully you can branch out and just jump back in whenever there is content that interests you.

I think there's 2 things about having more content pushed out. One as stated by others, they probably don't want to make it a mono game as they stated in interviews, but the second is more practical.
Even if they wanted to push out more content, you can't simply add more people to an already running project and make it go faster that way. You'll end up with a lot more problem and usually a worse product that took just as long. Considering when the huge increase in population happened, it was way too late to remake teams for Endwalker. If they go the "more content" route, we may see the effects of more budget happen towards the end of the expansion but we'll probably only really see it in the next expansion.Another thing is that "encouraging" people to log on every day is often the exact same as "punishing" people who can't log every day. That's what happens in WoW that also pushes people away.

@LiK Eureka is side content that does incentivizes more hours dedicated to the game. So the precedent is set that they CAN do it, just choose not to. Bozja is not nearly as repeatable as Eureka. And this side content doesn't detract from the game, nor make it any way close to WoW.

  • @CaffeinatedLala
    @CaffeinatedLala 2 роки тому +97

No no no no no, as a LONG time veteran of WoW. You DO NOT want those systems that incentivise constant log-ins. It may sound fun at first, but it wears down at you to the point where you start to resent the way the game is designed to constantly make you engage with it. Some great games came out this quarter, and XIV was a freeing experience where I didn't feel like I was falling behind just for indulging in Elden Ring for weeks.
Lost Ark is built upon you logging in constantly, because it's a free to play game, they need to push as many opportunities to turn you into a spender as possible.

    • @NeTruaSsIn
      @NeTruaSsIn 2 роки тому +22

i must echo this, you DO NOT want any incentivising systems in the game what so ever, it will ONLY hurt the game in the long run. WOW is a perfect example where they introduced artifact power grind in legion, continued in BFA and in Shadowland now its basically completely inrelevent compared to before, because arbitury incentives are simple bad for the game

@Jay Bee You might want to check yourself out over who's the "brainwashed" here. Its never a good idea to capture a player with predatory retention systems to keep them playing one and only ONE game. People have lives, people have less time to do with what they wish for recreation. Games are much better spent when you are doing them in short bursts and that respect your time. And its not like FFXIV doesnt have its grindy systems; there's Card collecting, Artifact weapons, Eureka, Bozja, job grinding, glam hunting etc.

@Jay Bee Why is this a bad thing? If a person can have fun with a game, call it a really good game and then say that they aren't playing it currently, it means that there is no addiction. They are playing the game, when they want and how they want. And they can unsub when they are bored or there is nothing for them to do.
I fail to see why this is a bad thing? Do you want people to be forced to play the game all the time. I don't think such a game exists, where people are continuously just playing a game every day for years and still actually really enjoying it. Such a game literally does not exist. Take Lost Ark for example. A game that will force you to login to do stuff else you fall behind.
Are non hardcore players going to keep enjoying that game playing it every day for 4 hours a day non stop for an entire expansion cycle? No. they will quit eventually and come back later in the year or something. Or they will burnout and not enjoy the game. There is not a single game, on the planet that exists that is enjoyable and STAYS at the same level of enjoyment for a long period of time with the player-base playing it consistently.
What is wrong with taking a break from the game for a couple of months? I fail to see the bad side here.

Hard agree here, you really do not want this game to change its philosophy to be based on MAU's and player retention by any means necessary. Coming from someone who played WoW from vanilla to shadowlands, that kind of game design starts off innocuous but ultimately seeps into every aspect of the game and festers what was once good about it. Trust me on that...this game will never be the mono mmo you are looking for and honestly the days of the mono mmo are pretty much passing by in today's society.

Hi Fur Dad, big fan. Wanted to preface that before my comment! You talk about the volume of content for this coming patch and that you think the big influx of players should’ve meant we got more. I think the big issue with that point is that you aren’t considering how budgets in a company as large as SQE actually works. Despite the large influx in players last year, budgets are set or a year or 2 year basis, not instantly after something changes. Additionally, SQE will want to see that the growth and revenue can be sustained before they chuck in a tonne more money to boost content/development speed. That’s kinda just how the corporate world works (I do budget activity for the company I work from a Hr perspective and that feeds into the yearly/bi-yearly recruitment budgets). So I think your expectations are unrealistic at this time. I believe Yoshi has said that with the performance still being strong, they can increase the budget, but we won’t likely see the effect of that until the end of 6.0/into 7.0. So that’s my take at the moment. As someone who has a very busy life, this game is perfect for me. I’ve played nearly every day during 6.0 and had a blast, so perhaps my perspective is just very different to yours.

  • @davieccc

Unfortunately I don't think ffxiv is going to be the mono game your looking for. I think the game is so successful because it caters to folk with busy lives. Final Fantasy is a franchise that began at the tail end of the 80s. Many folk that grew up playing ff are well into their 30s and many don't have the time that your typical mmo requires due to work/family/ kids. For me personally it works, when I was younger I played ffxi for hours on end and I'd say it was my mono game but these days I couldn't put the same amount of time I used to when I was in my early 20s. In ffxiv i can take a break for 6 months, come back and be raid ready in a few days. I think this is one of the reasons the game has been successful. If your looking for that mono game your prob gonna have to look elsewhere unfortunately But if you really want to keep with ffxiv I'd suggest taking a step back from the game maybe log in once or twice a week to keep on top of things and use the spare time to play other games you enjoy.

    • @CroftBondG

There can be a mix of FFXI and FFXIV. It doesn’t have to be insane camping and leveling for hours upon hours like FFXI, or just play 4 hours a week like FFXIV. That’s what he’s hoping for, something in between. But you’re right that it’ll never get there, and it’s just hoping for the game to be more than it is. Sucks, but it is what it is.

"... I'm finding out exactly how slow content is released in FFXIV" I've heard this claim being made before and it's extremely dishonest. FFXIV has been on a very structured release cycle since 2.0, major update every 3 months and expansion every 2 years. The patches always have a set of guarantied content and are pretty beefy.
Maybe it doesn't turn out content as fast as fortnite skins but compared to other games in the MMO genre it's consistent and well managed, FFXIV doesn't experience anything like a 9 to 12 month content drought that some MMOs like WoW have done.

If you started in 5.3 and completed almost all of the content, I think you're probably burnt out. At the end of the day, FFXIV is just like any other game; you can only expect so much from the developers. There are a lot of things to nitpick (as with anything really).. but I've been playing since around the end of ARR and I kinda think FFXIV is the game it always has been and will be. I will say it can be repetitive but I think the best advice is to take breaks and play something else like Yoshi P has said before. To me, launching the game satisfies a particular itch, not really something that replaces all other genres/games. I'm ok with doing the same few things every week and I take original concepts getting added as a gift, not an expectation.

  • @omegaxtrigun
    @omegaxtrigun 2 роки тому +5

You have some honestly insane expectations. Everyone I've heard from has tons of things they're excited about for 6.1. Nearly everyone I've heard from feels like it's so much new content. I really don't know how you can say that 6.1 isn't enough. Like I get it, there were certain things you were looking forward to with Fem Hrothgar and Sanctuary, but those things are in later patches. They literally said "We're gonna do fem hrothgar but only when we can find the time" so ya that's probably not happening very soon. And sanctuary isn't until 6.2.
The "new adventure" thing also sounds like you built up some expectations yourself that they never implied. Yes, what they meant by new adventure is that, narratively, we just finished this big universe ending threat and now we're going off to start again into new adventures. They never implied that they were going to change how we play the game on a core level. That would be insane for a X.1 patch. You're the only person I've heard seem to think that's what they meant.
"The game lacks just fun things to do." What? You realize this is arguably one of if not the best mmos for just having fun things to do right? 6.1 has no casual content? Alliance raid, the new msq, the new side story content, hildabrand, the new player card thing that you can customize and unlock things for, etc. That's all casual stuff.
And please no, we do not need more daily incentives. I had enough of that from years of playing WoW. I love this game BECAUSE there's no dailies tied to core progression and everything is weekly so I can be more flexible.
People taking breaks between patches is fine. I don't know why you think it's so terrible that someone stops playing the game for a bit until a new patch. An mmo doesn't need everyone playing ALL the time for it to succeed.
I heavily advise against expecting any game to be your "mono game". It's REALLY unhealthy. Case in point, this video. When you play one game and only one game for so long, all the things you like about it, you end up taking for granted, and all the little things that bother you about it stick out more and more.

What takes you a weekend might take someone else more time to get through, especially if they're someone who's not already done everything else in the game and still has other stuff to do besides just what's new in 6.1
Have to keep repeating it for 6 months? Well first off, we get the next patch in 4 months, so that's false on that alone. Second, who says you have to repeat any of it? I don't know about you but I don't intend to arbitrarily repeat stuff for 6 months for no reason. I guess if you only want to play FF14 every day and nothing else that's what you might do, but I and plenty of other people don't play FF14 like that.

Look at the two "special" story raids that require their own category, had to have bandaids placed on them in the form of "you can't skip cutscenes because you're screwing over new players", and only NOW, YEARS LATER, are they able to work on fixing them.

I agree with the dungeon gear point. Asside from that, the rest of this vid was a result of short memory and unrealistic expectations. It disappointed me.
Real talk. The new money won't show up for two years. That's the reality of ALL development, not just this game. They will lose at least 60% of the players they gained pre Endwalker. In many aspects they will fail to capitalize on 2021s unexpected popularity. And that's okay. If they retain even 10% of the new influx its a financial success.
Literally every complaint that you had about the live letter had been addressed previously. Expectations for news on Island Sanctuary were set a few live letters before. And yes, the new adventure was about the narrative only. I dont get how anyone could have expected different.
Fact is, if you came into this game late with a huge backlog of content to sink your teeth into, it's on you as an individual to remember that. It's also on you as a content creator to prepare for that. I know that's harsh, and I love your content. Been subbed as far back as your hunt trains vid, but this game is not designed like the others. I dont believe that's enough. He probably doesn't either, but we can't have a conversation about that if he forgets that in his frustration.
The term "broken promises" is more harsh than anything I've written. That's for developers who have absolutely betrayed players trust. Vanilla Destiny 1 & 2. WoW, Marvel's Avengers etc.

unfortunately i think a lot of the "dead" feeling going on is because of the hype of the expansion. When shadowbringers came out i took way too much time with the story and did old content at the same time and it felt alive but i think because this expansion was the "final arc" of what we have going on people rushed through, finished the msq to not be spoiled and experience it blind, then ran the small amount of endgame stuff immediately which left people with nothing to do until savage came out.
I think because you've spent so much time doing every single thing the game has to offer you've kinda done yourself a disservice because there is nothing completely new to dive into and spend tons of hours doing. There's going to be plenty to do in this expansion as the patches roll out; maybe take some time to take a break from stuff then come back when there's more content available to spend a ton of time doing.

Differences of opinion are great to have, but I just don't understand your take at all. See some more stuff in the live letter? See some stuff about female hrothagr? Female hrothgar isn't coming until 7.0, why would anything about them be in the live letter? They thought Stormblood was going to be the last expansion...I dunno where you read that, but it's not true. Really interested in your sources for that one.
The upcoming patch has a lot more content then normal patches. This is not a game that's designed to keep your attention all day every day, it's designed to be easy to keep up with, but there is content for very hardcore players. It's never going to be the "mono" game you want it to be. It's good to play varied games, and I think you probably need to find some other games to enjoy along side it. You've only been playing since 5.3, and you've burned yourself out. The only way you'd get enough content to keep yourself entertained constantly, is through grind systems that games like WoW have, and the majority of us have absolutely zero interest in that - that's why we're playing FFXIV not WoW

It definitely sounds like a mix of burn out and lack of content to do. Unfortunately its always the same with the first major patch up until x.1, and has been since ARR. The content we have in the game is definitely a lot better than what we used to have as well. We're also set to get a new deep dungeon and a few other things, including a more difficult dungeon that is supposed to challenge players. I'm honestly not sure what else they could add for the playerbase that would add some content between patches that are lengthy. It works for Ultimate fights due to the fact that they are supposed to be challenging and time consuming.
For context, ARR only had Coil for the raiding scene, ex trials, crystal tower, relics, crafting, beast tribes, PvP and maps. We had very little to do in the meantime, and the game would go in to huge luls between content as there was no longevity to any of it. HW gave Diadem, PotD, story mode raids, savage raids and map portals. SB brought in Eureka and Heaven on High and ultimates. ShB brought in Firmament, unreal fights and Bozja. EW is set to bring in a new deep dungeon, island sanctuary, a new dungeon difficulty, a new relic area, a new ultimate and a new restoration area. It's not a huge list, but its a lot of content that should have far more longevity than what we've seen in the past.
I can see why it worries you as a content creaator though. Since you started in 5.3 though you've had a lot of content to do to catch up, so it also gave you plenty of content you could create, but as your content is mainly focused on guides and tips you will likely always hit that wall where theres no in game content for you to make content for the viewers. It may even be worthwhile to ask your viewers what other kinds of FFXIV content they would like to see? I honestly love your content, and even as a veteran player from 2.0 I've learned stuff from you that I never even knew myself, so none of what I say is meant as disrespect or to be hurtful.

Not even going to mention raiding as I know it's not for everyone, but I see you haven't done things in all sorts of type of content the game has to offer (aside Beast Tribes on all expansions areas minus ARR, kudos for that), but no Deep Dungeon clears as a full party? no Big Fishing achievements? Nothing about BLU aside the levelling achievments and a few spells obtained? No relics on ARR or Heavensward and only 2 relics on Stormblood and 3 on Shadowbringers? Golden Saucer things? little to none PVP achievments?

I really like you, and I love your content. While I can agree that there is a small amount of justification for some of what your saying overall I think the sentiment of this video is entirely off base. I’ve been playing MMOs my whole life and most people who have come to FF14 feel relieved that that aren’t required to play it as their only game. Currently I’m playing approximately 6hrs a day 5 days a week, I started playing in 1.0 but I didn’t get serious until 4.0. I still have thousands of hours of content to do. Your saying that you have no reason to log in. Unfortunately, that’s personal, you’re either bored with what your doing or you haven’t felt to urge to try something else. The game isn’t going to change for you, they have too many different play styles to account for. I raid with a static about 4hrs a week and it’s the best time I have playing the game, but I also enjoy all the other content I try outside of that.
You’re disappointed because you were expecting more from 6.1 and you got average. Players who have been here forever were expecting average and got blown away by how much more than usual were getting. It’s like SE brought in a box of donuts and your mad because they didn’t get your favorite, but the donuts aren’t for you their for everyone, if you don’t want one politely say no thanks, don’t get mad at the guy who brought the donuts.
I also don’t agree that the game is dead. I still have a login queue of 40+ everyday and every where I go is full of players. Even when I queue for a dungeon as a DPS it takes less than 10min which is far faster than it used to be. I remember in SB waiting almost an hour for a group.
I agree with your frustration about the gear, but the game is still doing it better than it’s competition. In FF they release a set and then eventually might introduce a reskin that is easier to obtain. In WoW they release 10 reskins of the same armor set and call it a patch. And they have no dye system so sometimes you want a specific piece you have to farm obnoxious content you hate for it. Even if SE released more armor sets I wouldn’t have anymore space for them my glam dresser is at capacity. Sure I would love more unique and different sets, but most people have a style they like and none of the new sets are even ever seen because they get glammed over. It’s like asking for different color toilet paper. Sure it’s cool, but most people are just going to shit on it anyway.
The new adventure is the new story, the main story arc that has been going since 2.0 is over. There was never any mention of new play styles or game modes being added, just a brand new story, a fresh start. No more hero of the world, just adventure for adventure sake.

Yet you play 30 hrs a week, I assume you don't work a full time job other wise this would not make sense cause that is a lot when you are saying it isn't your only game. Lost ark has a huge grind and commitment and I maybe play that 1 - 2 hrs a day. I am with Furry Daddy here where after the 6th expansion we are still getting the same content dropped in a x.1 patch. It feels predictable and lazy. I am willing to bet the new dungeon is 3 trash pulls and a boss x3. Sure you can talk about pvp revamp but this is the 3rd of 4th revamp of it so far. I get baffled at how people just defend this with the same excuse sorry the content is not for you. As someone who's been around in FF14 since the very beginning (waaaay back in the lawless days of 1.0) -- this sounds almost entirely like content creator burnout that you're going through. You hopped into the game and consumed the content at a fairly rapid pace (since you say you joined back during 5.3, which was only around 1.5 years ago). And now you're really feeling what the game's true content cycle feels like, and you're realizing that it isn't giving you what you need as a creator to sustain what you wanna do. You binged the game in a manner inconsistent with how the game is paced.
You say you want FF14 to be a mono game, and I'm sure that's a nice sentiment, but most of us who have stuck with the game for the time we have *don't* want that. That's what killed WoW and so many other MMOs before it -- the devs finding ways to make for a ton of tedious daily "grind"-y content that doesn't really actually offer anything substantial to the game's overall enjoyment or design.
FF14 was never designed to be a game that you spend all your time in and do nothing else outside of, Yoshi-P and the rest of the dev team have been very straightforward and honest that that isn't their end goal with the game. They want FF14 to be a good Final Fantasy game and JRPG first, and honestly FF14's big appeal has been the fact that it just respects your time as a player.
Now the comments about Hrothgar (and subsequently the Viera) customization options and stuff -- I 100% agree with you on that point. The lack of them being able to wear hats from expansions from *when and after they were released* is so weird. Same with the gear sets -- there was no reason for them to reuse THAT many gearsets for this expansion. We've had sets get reused in the past but the sheer amount of it this go around was a bit nuts. There's lots of valid criticisms to make about that game -- those are definitely some of them. And the ones your friends seem to mostly bring up also are generally valid ones the community by and large has complained about.
(That said, the fanbase tends not to like people who criticize the game for whatever weird reason. I think they have too much of a parasocial relationship with the devs. They take any criticism against their favorite game and the devs they like so much as personal attacks.)
I do think you make good points, especially towards the end here. But the comments about the game feeling dead or not having enough to do, etc. That just sounds like you binged the content and got yourself just burnt out. That might just be something you need to take a little bit away from the game and come back with a clear head to fix.

Like nearly everyone else here, I agree that this is burnout. You played 6 years of content in a third of it's time.. that's absolutely crazy. I play this game more hours a day than I'd like to admit publically and I've barely scratched the game's surface. Sure, there are things that can be improved upon but that's true for every single thing in life, let alone online games trying their best to apease everyone's tastes. The LL was lackluster, that I agree with... but that's it. Burnout takes players to a very negative space and it will inturn affect the quality of content you're uploading. Maybe take a step back, breathe, try some other games in the meantime. If XIV is for you, it will call you back and you'll, hopefully, have a better perspective on things. As for suggestions of future videos, not this. Your fan base was built on your knowledge and down to earth style with the crafting/gathering/gill making aspect of the game, go back to your roots. I'm glad you shared your thoughts in this video, and it looks like your community received it well, too! Your crafting/gathering videos helped me a lot back when I was first starting my journey into that part of FFXIV, and I will always be grateful for that, regardless of where you decide to take your channel in the future. While I disagree (sometimes strongly) with many of the points you share in this video, I absolutely respect your opinion. I'll try to share my thoughts on your points in the order they appear in the video.
About the quantity of content in 6.1, I have to HEAVILY disagree. We are getting multiple stories in addition to the MSQ (hildi, Tataru for example). We are getting multiple brand new systems (adventurer plates, trust-like system for ARR dungeons, etc). We are getting revamped instances like Praetorium and Castrum. We are getting an entirely new housing district. All the usual stuff like recipes, new dungeon, new minions/mounts, beast tribe, alliance raid, etc. We are getting an entirely new PVP mode. A new ultimate! It may not be stuff that interests you, and that's absolutely fine! I'm not trying to invalidate how you feel about it. But compare this objectively to most other .X patches, and it's not even close; the sheer quantity of stuff being added or remade in the game for 6.1 is staggering. I think this is a solid effort by the dev team to give most their new players at least 1 thing to look forward to in 6.1.
About the 6.1 live letter updates: I find it hard to understand where you're coming from. Previously, they gave us a large-scale roadmap for all the 6.X patches, as well as a few goals looking years into the future. The last couple live letters were focused on the details for 6.1, which seems perfectly logical to me. I'm not sure what else you were expecting here. Also, you were hoping for more "changes in the way we play the game." Again, I struggle a bit to see what radical changes need to be made to the gameplay loop.
FFXIV has been consistently growing its playerbase for many years (even before the recent surge, especially in NA), and it hasn't done this by giving people incentives to log in daily, or by significantly changing gameplay mechanics regularly. It's grown by being consistent, and by respecting peoples' time investment. I myself joined after Shadowbringers patches concluded, but well before Endwalker, so I don't have a first-hand account of this. But from all the friends who I've talked to who have played the game for years, active player counts have always dipped in-between patches only to rise significantly when enough content is there to bring people back, creating a "wave-like effect" that is normal for FFXIV.
About the story direction: again, I have to disagree with you here. I think it's extremely healthy that the story is taking things more low-key for awhile. 6.0 was a huge culmination of the story, just as they promised, but it's unhealthy for the stakes of a story to keep rising without end (check out WoW's current story arcs for a clear example of why that doesn't work). It's good that they "soft-reset" our character to that of a more ordinary adventurer (and no longer THE WARRIOR OF LIGHT), to keep things grounded. That's the paradigm shift they talked about earlier. If you try to tell a long-term story without any breathing room, it will suffer for it. Now, because this is an mmo with long times between major patches, I would say it's unreasonable to expect every .X patch to be a self-contained story arc like 6.0.
About the length of time between patches: they explained very clearly why they have switched to a 4-month patch cycle instead of a 3.5-month patch cycle. The amount of writing, digital assets, number of jobs, nearly every aspect that takes up the bulk of development time has increased over the years. And to the best of my knowledge, SquareEnix has not significantly increased the size of the dev team, even with the surge of players leading to increased revenue this last year, so I can understand why they need more time for patches. (please correct me if there are some numbers that I am unaware of here)
About "there's no one to see my accomplishments". I think this is a somewhat unhealthy mentality to have. In my FC, we regularly share in each other's joy when we find an interesting piece of gear to add to our glam, when we get a minion or mount that we've been farming for awhile, or when we get some sort of personal or in-game achievement. But that's different from expecting strangers to compliment my glam or mount or title. That feels great when it happens, but the true joy of accomplishments should stem from the joy of personal satisfaction, not others' praise.
About addressing player concerns: I think they ON AVERAGE do a good job of having a finger on the pulse of the community and how they feel about the game. That being said, I 100% AGREE that Hrothgar hairstyles and the ability of buns/hroth to wear headgear has been neglected for FAR too long. The game already has plenty of clipping issues with gear and mounts and character models. Clipping is NOT a good reason for denying those players access to the same gear (visually) that the rest of us players have. Clipping issues in general don't bother me, because there's such a variety of gear/hair/etc in the game, that expecting none of those things to clip is just unrealistic.
About re-releasing gear: I don't have much context on this. In comparison, did a similar thing happen with 4.0/5.0, where they re-used a lot of gear models for the stuff you get from dungeons/etc? If EW re-used far more gear models than previous X.0 patches, then I think this is a very valid concern that the devs should be held accountable for. But if it's on the same level as previous expansions, then maybe it's just those of us that are experiencing an expansion release with FFXIV for the first time that are now feeling what it's usually like?
In summary, I agree with many others that it sounds like you're just burnt out now that you've accomplished most of what you set out to do in the game, and there isn't a "stockpile" of desirable content to go through. Now, I'm not a mind reader, I'm not familiar enough with your state of mind to make a definitive analysis, so take this with a grain of salt. For myself, I still have MANY things I want to do in the game (beat an ultimate, do Bozja, get all jobs to 80 for the bestest of bois, get some treasure hunt titles, get further into the hunt scene and run some trains/spawning groups myself, get more into the clubbing scene, go hard on the new PVP mode). I play usually at least an hour a day, and for me, the joy still comes from just the small things and interactions I have on a daily/weekly basis.
Thanks again for sharing your thoughts, regardless of whether they were positive or negative. No matter what you decide to do in the future, I wish you the best, Fur Pappy!

FFXIV isn't going to change their game for the new influx of players, and seems like SE isn't breaking on that, they improve thing but not stray too far from their core and how they envision the game. If the new players don't like how Square Enix run their game then they usually fall off and play other games.

I don't want to get into lengthy discussions but the amount of downvotes and "just go do X, it's a you-problem"-type of comments kinda makes me angry. No, I don't share all of your views, but it's valid criticism brought forth in an upright manner.
    Things I agree upon fully:
*) The gearset reuse is ridiculous and I know a lot of people playing even since 1.0 have been really pissed especially about the Classical gearset. At least in my FC.
*) Hrothgar hair and face situation is unbearable. I have a Hroth and I don't play it anymore. Cause there is like one good looking hairstyle+face combination and everyone has that. No hats, no nothing. And I literally asked my FC mates after seeing the screencaps of the Hroth hair if that was meant to be an April's fool joke (unironically), because I couldn't believe they would genuinely release something like that. It feels very derogatory after leaving Hroth like that to present that as the great new hairstyle changes.
Things I kinda agree on but have a bit different takes:
*) Crafting in my opinion is extremely boring - literally all crafting is the same and you level it to 80 by spamming the same macro on every job. Every battle job plays differently, why does every crafting job play the same? And by "play" I mean you press a macro and boom, Classical gearset. If it is meant to be an activity for people to do, it needs serious attention.
*) Wrong things getting attention: My prime example is their new focus on solo gameplay and making every dungeon playable with trusts. It's a nice thought but they are putting WAY too many ressources into that. It's an MMORPG and the RPG focus YoshiP said he wanted it to have more for the next 10 years means a lot of development time will be used for just that. And that's frankly a mistake, since FF14 is more community driven than a lot of other MMOs nowadays. Their focus should be to make more casual and fun activities, extend the housing systems, give RPers more possibilities, give some fun new challenges. Maybe even do community stuff. Idk, first thought rn is make a housing thing in the midst of Limsa and give 3 community projects the chance to use it for a month to make whatever they want with it.. Maid Cafe in Limsa, Escape room, whatever. We need more community stuff and certainly not less.
*) I agree a little that we need more content. I think however the content should be made so that It can be used for longer. Take housing for example. And the insane things people are doing with housing, the fun people have in their RP venues etc. We need more of that and less of "grind this EX trial 99 times for your mount" type of content. I think the PVP changes are good and may really give PVP and PVP communities a new life. To me PVP has a long way to go till it is as fun as in other MMOs (WoW) but it's on a good way for sure.
List of things that NEED an overhaul:
*) Inventory system: It's absolutely horrible. Take a look at WoW's inventory addons to just get a grasp. Don't make 129393 different inventory spaces you have to shuffle stuff between. Especially if you have to close all menues when you want to switch between them
*) Same for glamming. It's horribly bad. Armoire needs to be gone. Glam slots should be like.. 200, not 20. Previewing glammed stuff from your inventory is not possible, unless you link it yourself in shout chat and then "Try on" to see the original look of the item or dispelling it beforehand. Why? Also why can't I wear glams on every job? I literally can tank savage raids in swimsuits. Why not in a WHM robe? Why do we have that limited color palettes, why are so many colors only available for real money (black and white that don't look like dirt.. like.. for real?)
*) PVP hotbars are a nice thought but horrible to set up first time. Abilities are sooo reduced for PvP that it kinda is not fun while still being insanely unbalanced and broken. (Try to kill a healer 1on1..)
*) Housing system has to be minimum a lottery. NEVER go back to the current system with clicking plaquards. It's basically a lottery where everybody involved wastes 8+ hours of their life, gets RSI, ruins their controllers etc. Anyone can come up with more fun systems. Make small challenges like in the Gold Saucer you can grind for additional entry tickets - you can grind max 10 a week and you can spend up to 10 for a lottery entry if you REALLY want that plot. Not bottable, increases your chances 10x over people who just don't want to do anything for getting a plot, etc. It literally is harder to come up with worse ideas than better ones at this point.
*) Housing uses a lot of glitching. Make what people try to achieve tediously with glitching possible as is. Who cares if things floating in the air "is unnatural". I have been in a haunted house where the owner put flying books into the air. Everything has it's use, even if you don't see it.
If you stuck with me for now: Try to make your own content of the game - maybe funny stuff, maybe funny tutorials, comedy.. But if you want to continue your career after FF try to make you and your personality the focus of the channel and not the game. If you wanna stick to FF, I think there is A LOT of room for things you haven't touched upon. BLU (what spells to get, how, what's important, what is not, how do BLU raids go etc), chocobo racing, gardening, housing, maximizing MGP, lore. like.. A LOT in the game.

I like your videos but you partually disapointed me with this one. I play this game since august 2020. and I still don't even have static lmao. Majority of people are thinking like you sadly, thats why there is drops in players between patches.
Have you done all side quests? Have you leveled up all classes? Have you gather all items? Have you crafted all items? Did you built your own community FC house on all data centars? Do you do content with your fans?
Did you try to make alt and visit other data centar communities and get in touch with your subscribers/fans over there and do things together with them. Is it about you or about your community?
I am getting sick of "influencers" and some streamers only things they do raids, fight fight fight. And all in their own statics or get carried because they are "someone".
How many of them acctually sit down and worked on to develop characters on all data centars and reach out to their fans and do things together with them. Yea will be boring but if you are rly that bored person doing that then you ain't community guy, you are then just another "influencer" with their own static "group of their own friends" looking to do something new. Why DrDisrispect is sucessful he does things with random people mostly.
Zepla is fcking hiding around from her fans once found her and /greet her while on stream she run away and teleported ASAP. Even tho I wrote in chat is it ok to just say hi ingame.
Zack/MrBaldy/Asmongold and his friends got carried around in all ffxiv content and then they just quit and run around playing whatever. They call thet not giving a fuck and doing what they are pleased to do. It's weird man rly weird where this community and people with their mindsets are heading I am disapointed.
For me bast part of game is freedom you have to experience ingame, farming materials, gathering, crafting, MB pricing, chilling out with friends around and just talk in VC and have online social contacts , help someone new who can't unlock flying just random acts of kindness. Flexing in house while doing housing design eighter it's apartment, private estate or FC house or shared space with others. Bringing over friends and making b-day parties. RPG. but that is also MMO in same time since it involves big number of people.
There is so much things and yet people wish to do only those things that will put them numbers up, while all those "boring things" nah.
    -
In regards to things you said about Hrotgar and gear copy/paste so fcking true agree 100% on that. I would add some other things there as well but won't now my message is already too long.

90% of my FC members are MIA atm, it's normal, people get excited for the new patch, burn through it, max everything, do everything, and then they feel there's no purpose to log in. Now, that feeling, means you burned out and a break would be a good idea.
We all have been there, it's normal. There's so much you can do, once you burn through everything and get everything, yeah, you "finished" the current game. I log in now every day just to chat and do random stuff, I don't do savage, I don't care of all that, I am just taking my own pace on everything, some days I do nothing at all and just chat.
Hell, I'm a 1.0 player and I never touched Eureka until recently lmao, that's the pace I choose to approach the game with, do what you feel like doing, I have even done some PVP once in a while, or just spend days hoarding MGP for whenever they release something new in the Gold Saucer. There's still a lot of content for me, and I'm a 1.0, I have taken many breaks, yes, XIV is a game that allows you to go as fast or as slow as you want. But definitely, once you get all your savage gear, if that was your ultimate goal, well, you completed that content. I think your opinions and feelings are valid, and it seems the devs are working on more systems with Crystal Conflict, Island Sanctuary, and Criterion dungeons to address this in some ways. But I think it’s unfair/bad philosophy to expect the devs to cater to players who ONLY play FFXIV. This is how you get ridiculous systems similar to what is in WoW that are designed for player engagement and quantity over quality. I’d encourage you to take that break eventually because you seem to be burning yourself out. If you do one thing over and over for long periods of time, you are bound to run into this issue.
That being said, I hope you don’t let the feedback from myself or others discourage you from making these kind of videos. Criticism is very important, especially for a game you pay a monthly sub to.

Very valid arguments and agree with most of them. I think most of us will agree that there are issues and the desire for improvement. Yet, I don’t agree with the sentiment here. I think your perspective is very unique as a content creator, you made playing a job on itself and it’s more easy to grow frustrated with a job than a game. As a content creator is not that easy to “take a break” or “play something else”, specially since your online persona is a character made in this specific game. It’s ok to feel this negative feelings, but I was waiting in the video for your ideas on what a completely new adventure could be, but Hrothgar issues derailed the conversation a bit. In the end this is just a patch and is a bit unrealistic to expect an expansion amount of content in it. Hope you find the inspiration you are looking for, love your content and hope you can keep doing it.

Compared to other MMOs, FF has huge patches and tons of casual content. The lack of grind/optional grinds are a feature of the game.

It's not so much that I want to see grindy mandatory content, it's just that the lack of content that I am able to do with my friends who play the game outside of high end raiding is a bit unfortunate.
I think improvements to stuff like gold saucer, adding more "hub" style areas with actual content people can do would help breathe some more life into the community. The Diadem is a great example of that but there isn't much of an incentive to do content there beyond level cap. I think the firmament and the events it had (rankings etc) is an excellent example of the content I'd like to see developed further and perhaps implemented as a permanent system.

People disagreeing doesn't make them fanboys. Secondly, and more importantly, a lot of people like this game because they don't have to log in all the time. I quit WoW because it felt like a chore. You frame this as something you think FF needs to do when its actually things you want it to do. The game reached success doing the opposite of so many other MMOs. One of my absolute favorite parts of FFXIV is that I have no incentive to log in every single day. I despise addiction-oriented systems (call them what they are), and the general lack of them in FFXIV is what has allowed me to come into this game (I joined April of last year) and not feel like I showed up to a party a decade late. There is no content in FFXIV that demands that I not take a couple weeks away from the game to go play PLA or Elden Ring and come back and slide into doing whatever content I enjoy (currently dipping my toes into gil-making activities). I think that hrothgar hair is an embarrassment and that what they've shown for job changes (RIP Ninja making the entire group's gameplay more interesting) displays a lack of awareness, but I hard disagree with anything that could give them an excuse to put in the kind of content that gates the game to (as you said) being someone's mono-game. FOMO is a cancer on game design and the fact that a decade in they have it limited to 1/2 glamour items for each event is respectable.

Encouraging people to log-on is game speak for forcing people to log on with time gated chores. If that's what you want WOW is right there but the only thing that could kill FFXIV right now is for developers to take this mindset. I will say this with as much tact as I can. YOU PLAY THE GAME TOO MUCH. Between personal playtime and streaming... I mean to think that a game can give you weekly content to match how MUCH you want to play is crazy. There are other games you can hop in and out of and that you should probably try but this is not legitimate criticism because the complaint is coming from an unrealistic viewpoint. Life can't be one thing. Try other things.

For someone who only just started in 5.3, I think the 10 years of content you caught up on finally brought you to where players who've been playing for a while KNOW how the game works and content cycles. FFXIV is not this pump out something every few weeks game. Its normally pump out a BUNCH of stuff at two points being the X.X Patch and the X.X5 Patch normally. It would not be good for the players and goes super against what the Devs want of a pick up put down type of game, having to do one small thing every 2-3 weeks and resubbing JUST to do that one thing and force yourself to use the remainder of your sub time.
The amount of content and stuff to do is someone great for me working overtime, house sits, and goes to school. And in the few years I've been playing FFXIV, they've DONE these big changes to make the game better that you want and are talking about. Its just why do we need to keep 1-upping things if they are already in a good spot/fixed? Ofc not everything is perfect but we need to be reasonable for the amount of types of work it is to work for this game, and as well as WHAT they are working with. If we are expecting huge system changes, expect it in a handful of years when there is a full system revamp since they've addressed how it is not simple
Also 6.05 was more or less just raiding and such, if people don't care for Savage or EXs, yes this is not going to be a patch catered to them, but 6.1 has a lot more casual content that also insentivies logging in frequently like Beast Tribes, new Mats/Crafting stuff, Map Drops, Weekly Custom Deliveries and also Alliance Raid loot, etc.

Compared to other MMOs, FFXIV provides frequent and smaller updates. Take WoW for example, the content updates in that game are huge and have way more content, but they come out like once every 6 months lol.
I don't think it's unreasonable for SE to consider different streams of content to appeal to players who want to keep playing between patches. So far, there's mostly harder content (which is great) like savage raiding and ultimates, but I would be nice to see some mid-tier content that players can work towards completing - like content that sits under savage difficulty but requires higher than base/entry ilvl. Just as some players are happy with taking things at a very slow pace or quitting/resubbing when they want to, it's kind of poor to expect others to feel the same way.

I've just started Endwalker so cannot say anything about new dungeons/story/gear/etc. but as a Hrothgar lover and player I genuinely thought the hairs they showed was a April's fool because I was so excited about it and was so disappointed. And it's not just the hair itself that's the issue, it's the thousand layers of issues with Hrothgar customistion. It's the fact that 90% of hats do not display on us at all, it's the fact that we have 8 haircuts to choose from right now while a recently released race like viera has twice to three times that amount, it's the fact THAT OUR FACES ARE TIED TO THE HAIRCUTS so not only can we not choose our face and hairstyle separately but we also have to use a FANTASIA to change it, it's the fairly limited hair colour collection, etc., etc.
Hopefully some of these issues will be resolved, but I think the whole hair thing was the final straw for a lot of Hrothgar players (I don't know if a lot of siblings feel the same way we do, but I know the other Hrothgar in my FC does).

I started when the game was 5.55, that is around 5-6 months ago, I have around 1200+ active hours in the game and still got plenty of stuff to do. Most days I was playing around 2-4 hours a day, rarely I was playing for more then 4 hours. I have a job, I go to gym, I also have some other stuff to take care of, some days I don't play at all.
1200 hours in 6 months its a lot of time spent in a game.
    Content will come just wait.
FF14 is really good and is fine just like it is. One of the big reasons I left Wow was because playing 2 hours a day would give me nothing, I have a job, I have a life and I also like to play the game. Making it grindier would kill it for me.
The reason I left after 1 month of Endwalker release was the fact that I had to wait 4-5 hours just to log in, nothing else. I came back 2 weeks ago.

There is content, just because you are done with it doesn't mean there is no content or the game is bad. If you play 8-9 hours a day and finish the game in a few weeks, that is on you.
What you are saying is, make the game grindier so that 90% of the community won't have time to play it (and still be relevant in the game along everyone else) just for the sake of you being able to make content.
I felt the same when playing Warframe, I finished everything there, grinded everything and got everything. When there was nothing else to do for me it didn't mean there is no content or the game is bad it meant that I spent too much time on it.
Also the story is really good, what we got is not flaccid. Its just you.
    Peace.

I watched the stream where you were compiling footage for this video and I've gotta say: you are echoing EXACT conversations I've had with my friends. We're not even "hardcore" players or anything. Some of us have goals to do Ultimates, but we've also been avoiding the game for the last 3 months because it felt like there was nothing to do anymore. The "casual" content exists, but once you've done it all...well, you've already done it all. There's only so many sidequests (especially ones that don't involve combat), your craft/gathers stop leveling once you hit cap, there's only so much to make from your craft log, ocean fishing/FETEs/Gold Saucer gets boring after a time. I'm not saying it should feel like I HAVE to log in every day or I've fucked up and will "get behind" or something, but a reason to log in at least once a week (or even a month) would be a bit helpful. And this isn't to get into your discussion on Twitch about how Hrothgar feel (almost intentionally at this point) shafted. I started as a Hroth and eventually Fantasia'd because I couldn't put up with the lack of ANY hats or even simply changing hair (w/o spending 10$). One of my friends still plays as one and they were SO grateful when I told them about there being a mod to let them see themselves in hats. But my friends, while arranging for an in-game wedding this week, have been discussing how the "we can't implement Hroth/Viera hats yet, because it's not up to our standards" rings EXTREMELY hollow when vanilla hairstyles clip through EVERYTHING. Got bangs? Clips through 80% of hats. Got long hair? Clips through your outfit. It's a bit frustrating, because even discussing that YOU personally have some criticisms/different opinions is likely to get you shredded apart by other fans

If you're looking for content to make you could do a series to show off viewers submitted glamour, maybe with a theme each week. I don't know if it's already been done but I'd definitely watch that. Plus, we all know Glamour is the true end game.

Valid remarks on the gear and character models overall, but due to my bias of starting in 2.0. I can honestly say that it's always been like this, the no reason to log in, the burnout. I believe it is fully designed that way so that you don't have to feel obligated to log in.
I've always treated this game like a marathon, pacing myself, taking small bites of content before putting it down and saving it for later. That is the only reason I've lasted for a near decade, most friends I made in ARR simply never returned, and those that are still around have their own cliques.
I find that it helps to make a personal goal, and space out that goal. I personally go into a "special" called Mentor Roulette, where you can either get a dungeon is returning players, or a somewhat difficult extreme with 7 sprouts. I find that mix bag of pain and fun amuses me throughout the day.

  • @darklorty
    @darklorty 2 роки тому +2

I'll go against the consensus and say this is not burnout. It can be, but your feelings are basically mine. FFXIV got a ridiculous amount of players that they are clearly not going to keep simply because the content release is both small and slow depending on what you want.
Considering the consistent dumbing down of classes and very little difficult/interesting content for battle jobs, why should I even play before the next expansion is announced? I'll have plenty of time by then to go back and catch up on the story and any other interesting content. People will say that is what the developers want, and that's okay, but it can be better for both people.

See, I think the opposite. I think the notion that MMOs should be mono games were what largely what killed off the majority of MMOs, especially during the era of "WoW killers".
I think that many notions of MMOs go against them being mono-games. They can't issue enough raid content to keep up with player consumption because of how much effort needs to go into their combat design. They aren't as good at PvP as PvP focused games. They can't offer as varied of combat encounters or depth as a roguelike or ARPG because of the emphasis on co-op multi-player preventing them from allowing wild, extreme imbalances (for example, this is what prevents a big part of crazy gear systems that you might find in other games). Their main attraction as mono-games is that they are good for social interaction, which can be its own form of eternal content, but if you aren't interested in that, it's not going to be a mono-game.
After a certain point, you are going to cap out and there's going to be a limit to system mastery and character progression in an MMO (again, unlike a roguelike or ARPG where more variety and more builds can be offered). While character progression feels great before then, it will never reach the point that a lot of other genres will offer, and it shouldn't try to.

big mistake. yoshi himself this game will *NEVER* be a monogame. Youre expected to take breaks from time to time.
if you've come from WoW as you say. then you know what "incentives" become. Long. boring grindfests, to make sure players are ALWAYS logged in each day.
You know what being forced to play a game each day does? To even players who love the game theyre being forced to play? THEY HATE PLAYING IT.
it doesn't matter how much you love playing the game. being forced to do something ruins that fun you so desperately want. because you're no longer doing something because you enjoy it. you're doing it because you "have" too.
and *THAT* will hurt the community more than anything else you've brought up.
if you're struggling to find something else to do in the game. go play another game. go level an at. or take a break from being burnt out my guy. this level of obsession isn't healthy.

I get what you mean, too much of anything and this is inevitable even with something we've logged in everyday for since well-forever. I reached the end of the MSQ recently and after all the feels subsided I admit I felt like...what now? The journey is complete, I dont have a static and my friends were against the flight to 14 from WoW. I love the game, the world, my roe but with the journey completed and as a PVPer at heart...I just dont have much reason to log in right now.
The way I've tried to look at it is-remember when Emet Selch asks us about the parts of the world that we haven't explored? Like...we've been here for so long but theyres so much we dont know yet. I've chosen to interpret that as "its okay to step away for a while and see what else is out there in the 'world'". I was so honored to be apart of the launch for EW after trying to catch up to it just in time meme queues and all...but we're burning out and sometimes the best way to keep the wick from burning out entirely is to step away for a bit.

I just want any 14 account or the 6.1 page to talk about hrothgar hair. None of them have posted jack but viera hair was up IMMEDIATELY so like...are the paying attention to fan outcry for once? Are they bothering to work on hrothgar ears not disappearing thereby screwing hrothgar out of not only hats but also earrings, a trait theyve never inflicted on any other race (yes I know recent hats havent added miqote ears but you have the OPTION to wear those whereas hrothgar are still in beta after 3 years)? Or is the 11th gonna get here and we look at the patch notes and oop theyve done nothing? is the 12th gonna get here and theyre just NEVER gonna fix hrothgar ears? Like I only started 14 because I was excruciatingly bored and oh hey hrothgar are hot and theres nothing in character creation saying "hey you have no options! you have to buy fantasia to alter your hair at all!" and CHRIST mogstation items still have that little "oough ouh we just dont care! this content that costs extra money to have? it doesnt work if you play the hot new races!" and thats INFURIATING players shouldnt get screwed out of gear thats costs more money to own because your race wasnt ported from ff11

I started back up during Shadowbringers. I had been in on the game before they redid the game into ARR. I have had so much fun (minus housing). Then Endwalker came out. While it was cool seeing new people, seeing a lot of the people I used to watch during my WoW days come over to FXIV, and really getting into the game over all. Love the story, the freedom of jobs (a little burned out on fates and leves), and had had fun building up a small bank of funds. I just lost the feeling when Endwalker came out, I'm not a big raider or dungeon crawler, as I lost the few ways that I got decent funds from. Now I have to play the market, I'm a decent crafter, but I have gotten a little less excited about logging in. Especially seeing a lot of really nice outfits and finding out that I'm not going to be able to get the looks. Like I said, not a raider or dungeon crawler.
I hope to find a bit more to do with 6.1 and look forward to. I don't want to feel that the only reason I am logging in is to keep a house if I am lucky to get one in 6.1

Just because there's more that incentivizes players to log onto WoW/Lost Ark for example, doesn't necessarily mean it's a good thing. It just means if you miss a day, you're now a day behind everyone that didn't take that day off. Compounding itself with each day you decide not to play that game. It sounds like a cool idea(Always having a reason to get on and such), but there's a balance that needs to be had where it goes from a fun thing to do every day into "I need to get on and do X, Y, and Z. Otherwise I'll be worse off for not doing it.". I loved the feeling of doing World Quests every day in Legion(Best "modern" WoW expansion. Don't @ me), but after 2-2.5 weeks of nonstop running the World Quest Marathon(Starting in Azsuna and going clockwise), I just got burnt out of doing it. I used to love logging into WoW to run Mythic+ dungeons, then after my group discovered Maw of Souls was the best per run AP grind(As we were all raiding at the time, and had better gear than the +15's could reasonably offer), it suddenly lost all it's fun for me. Incentives to log into a game =/= always equate to "fun".
Also, pretty sure Yoshi P said Fem Hroth weren't gonig to be happening until at least 7.0, so I'd expect more info on them around that time(Think more along the lines of Expansion Announcement LL). Looking at concept drawings of a female Hroth isn't going to realistically be anything of substance, since the picture they could show now may not even be what the final product ends up looking like.

I appreciate that you don’t want it flaccid. Same.
What I imagine for the 6.1 MSQ is it will branch into a bunch of side quest lines (the new adventures) for a while then merge into one quest when our new direction becomes more clear.
GarlondTools will show you the other items that share the same model when you search for an item if you want to find other sources (for example if you want to see if there’s another item with the same model that is dyeable).
This kind of video encourages engagement. So maybe be present in the comments for a while when you do these. I don’t think I’d want to see every video in this format, but when enough stuff accumulates, go off. I think it will be well received as long as you have substantiated your thoughts and feelings.

I literally cleared things I didn't want to but felt I should as there wasn't anything fun to do but still I log in daily as the community and helping others is super important to me. If I was a content creator, I guess it would be doing gil making, crafting and so on, but for you maybe clears at minimum ilvl would be fun, I'm sure your community will let you know what they like to watch. • @chrisanderson7820

You seem to want a gear treadmill or progression grind which is something a LOT of people have left other MMOs over. I left WoW because it was a second job and I came to FF14 because it wasn't. If you want a second job then take up a second grinder MMO. If you play any MMO until your eyes bleed then no MMO or dev team on earth can provide you with constant endless content without going down the WoW/Lost Ark/BDO grind path.
If you've only started in 5.3 then you cannot possibly have exhausted every thing to do in the game unless you have put untold thousands of hours into the game in the past 12 months. I know because I started in 5.4 and have put in around 3k hours since then and still have masses of things to do. I think you need to re-analyse why you play this particular MMO rather than ask for the fundamental style to change.

Totally agree about the gear being just reskins is a bit sucky and the hair is just super lame and I don’t believe that is the best they can do for us Hroth players. Here is to hoping Yoshi and the rest of the dev team take a little longer time in between patches to flesh out the new stuff and look into what players are asking for or about.
Though hopefully we as the community can in turn respect the dev team for their time. I’m still having cringe flashbacks to when people were asking for “moon housing when?” Immediately after they gave us a new housing district

I think you made a good point. I've played on and off since September 2010 and feel that the game has definitely expanded the content available to players, but there's a lot more work that needs to be done. It would be nice if they could consider some kind of content that appealed to pre-savage/post-EX difficulty for players. Eventually we'll have this expansion's relic weapon, but I still think there's a gap for mid tier content that fulfils a similar niche/need that savage raiding fulfils at a higher difficulty. SE have the resources to do more so I'm glad to see people pushing SE to do better.
I know people are criticising you but like most MMOs, lots of people are happy to shill for a video game that meets their needs and are happy to shit on other people who are missing out.

    1. Your argument here is simply all over the place which is why I down voted. It's not that you don't have a few decent points, but you'd follow up with something that's flat out untrue. 6.0 did get more gear sets if you count the lv90 basic tome set (gear inspired from FFIV) AND the raid pieces+ the higher ilv tome pieces. And heck, i actually do like reskins of old gear i liked, and there is plenty of awesome gear already in the game.
    2. XIV doesn't use "transmog" we say "glamour"
    3. When they promised a "grand new story" they are talking about the beginning of new plots in the MSQ since the old saga is done. It's not gameplay related. They have said this numerous times.
    4. Have you done DRS and BA and completed all the Duels in both Bozja zones?
    5. If you raid, have you done all the savage and ultimates fights in old expansions?
    6. The point you are trying to make, (and failing miserably doing in this rant) is that you want more midcore content to do that also has it's own way of progression which is a fair point.
    7. To the game's detriment, they have stuck on a very similar path of updates since way back in HW and SB with the Deep Dungeons and Eureka/Bozja being some of the little experimentation they have done.
    8. Hrothgar hair, ya that sucks...

My main issue with the game is the extreme horizontal progression. Or as I call it "no progression". Getting gear is completly pointless unless you're a) an illegal parser or b) wanna do ultimate day1. There's no nessassary for gear at all in this game. It's all just things you put on and replace with market board gear next tier. Ultimates you can do in content holes with dungeon gear later. It's all so empty. All just glam, no power gains. Everyone is the same.

you do realize you are a very small portion of the audience for this game you play it like a job because it most likely is a second job for you, which I wish I could do lol. hardly anyone has all jobs completed all custom deliveries and beast tribes just to name a few. Funny enough I've been playing since 5.3 and I've haven't even gotten close to completing all my goals and I have 73 days played in game. 4 month patches is plenty, any faster would feel overwhelming and it would turn into giving up say crafting to make sure you could complete all the raiding tiers just as an example. also the reason I hate wow right now is because it FORCES you to log in every day or you get left behind and same with lost ark its terrible game design and feels like a chore rather than an incentive. It sounds like you need to take a break, maybe just play once a week to do your vids. Also I dont know what DC you're on but Aether does not feel dead at all there is always PFs for most content. I just started my eureka weapon and the instances are slammed with people, all games will die out after the first month of content release its just a natural thing for video games. I've played wow since TBC and I honestly feel like you can actually complete it faster in terms of raids and crafting. Crafting is a joke in wow and the raids are in my eyes a bit easier. and then once your done with that its farm Torghast/ random currency for random area every patch and you cant miss at all otherwise you're left behind.

I've been playing since 2.5, so for quite some time now. The main thing I'm getting from this video just a few minutes in is that you have consumed the content so fast its unsustainable. You are quite literally playing the game faster than they can develop it.
Like other comments mentioned, its never meant to be this game where you can just play 24/7 forever. The game is designed for you to take breaks and come back. This is a good thing. You don't login in a few months and feel like you missed out and were punished for taking a break.
Another thing too is that I think you are in the minority. Most people who started last year are probably still playing old expansions and aren't at endwalker yet like you are.
Personally I like the speed. To me it always feels like right as I'm running out of stuff to do, there's even more to play. But I'm also playing other, singleplayer games
Point being: take a break man. There's a lot of other games out there to play.

You know, it's kinda funny that us vet players have been saying for years how theres NOTHING to do, but everytime we did, we got shit from the defensive yoshi p army who came with their pitch forks. Because how dare you criticise the game. FFXIV used to have more stuff to do back then. It's hard to really say if it was more content or if the content was just more grindy. If we take ARR/HW relics for example, those actually took quite a while to complete whereas current relics hardly take any time to complete in comparison. I wouldve loved to have FFXIV as my mono mmorpg game, but it probably never will be. But thanks to owning a house, you cant even really take a break from your subscription. I've always held onto ffxiv and always tried to find SOMETHING I can work towards, but I'm out of ideas now and I'm sitting on enough gil. All I do is raid log now and I'm guessing I'll play for a bit during 6.1, especially cos I'll be progging ultimate. But this expansion, I don't even enjoy raiding that much because I main pure healers and whm is currently ass and astro is just too overloaded....and theyre taking months and months on end to finally push some fixes. I still have hopes for 6.1 whm fixes because the Live letter list wasnt exhaustive, but I wouldn't be surprised if they messed it up AGAIN. IMO it's about time that people respectfully (!) criticise the game for its faults. We criticise BECAUSE we LOVE the game. If we didn't, we'd just quit and move on. So thank you very much for stepping up and actually voicing your opinion. We need more of that.

Content output might change come 7.0 I feel like, everything they already have announced is on rails and probably not going to change or be addend onto... and if they foresee more growth in FF XIV, then we might see more frequent/beefier content for the next expansion.
Honestly I just want them to fix Hrothgar as a whole!

Sounds like you just need to have a break from the game. Why not have a month off? :)

I think a lot of your feeling is coming from being a content creator, and I get and respect that. You’ve been prolific and they (seemingly) are not keeping up with you. Especially since you just polished up your rigs.
I would be interested in your follow up opinion once the content starts dropping, though I’m not so keen on rants being a regular part of your deal.
Can you do some content about modding? I’ve never done it for FFXIV, and frankly I’m a little concerned about trying it! But would be interested in how you’re doing things.

I do get what you're saying, I do not think you mean daily login rewards but maybe a revamped challenge log system where you can maybe earn a MGP card, or some extra Squadron Scrolls so you can have a small grind every week but its nothing gamebreaking. I think a lot of people just play the game for the story and glams so they just tend whenever they can. Personally I don't think they give much consideration to content thats outside of raiding and the MSQ. Maybe give us new gold saucer games? More Blue Mage stuff? The Island Sanctuary sounded fun. Or they could add on to current content like Eureka and Bozja, I'm sure they can find a way to work it into the story. But I get you it feels like theres not much to do once you've done everything availble to you or have done what you wanted to do. It feels almost pointless to keep playing the game tbh.
