my studio is in the car park next door, i walk past this place every day! i always really appreciate this house, and have always been jealous of that roof garden
It's a fantastic house but that rooftop is a dream! A dream!!! 💚🖤💚🖤 And... no pretentious architect speak - it was a pleasure to listen to the description of the build.
I love your home.... I think it is possibly the loveliest house I have ever seen in the way the space flows, the design flows and the light flows through it.
I was actually wondering if this may have been a dream job for a team of bricklayers... more interesting than what they normally get to do, and it would have paid even better because of the added complexity.
LOVE!! such a beautiful home!! I love everything about it and find it completely inspired and inspiring! Love how it harmonises with it's surroundings yet brings an unconventional beauty. Just awesome!!
Everything I dream of in a home, I especially love the greenhouse on the roof and the kitchen being out of the eye line of the reception. Great use of space…(and the builders pulley) ❤
I LOVE this house! What a wonderful design. The use of materials inside and out is inspiring. Congratulations to all involved with bringing this house into being!
This house is amazing in soooo many ways! I love that it merges all the different styles around the place, recycling and reusing materials and the atmosphere PLUS the rooftop garden! Just WOW! If I ever build a house, I will be definitely hiring you guys!!! Love, love, love...
Love the incorporation of an additional outdoor space in little London. Local authorities should take note - this could be a solution to places that can't have gardens due to space - or just being able to make larger living spaces because the garden can now be on the roof! More houses like this please!
Wow! Living in so much space definitely gives one a sense of safety without having to worry about neighbours! Wishing the family generations of joy living there! XO
Superb. So many ideas match our house the Planterbox house in Kuala Lumpur including the sliding access to the roof. Envious of the wood. Congratulations on the award. A real home.
Nicely done. What I liked most is the texture the bricks gives to the exterior walls. As a knitter, it looks like a wool jumper knitted with a nice relaxed tension. 🧶🤩✨👍🙏
OK, so I've watched all six videos. Of the six houses shortlisted, two were designed by the architect for the architect. Given the age of the designers of the Peckham House I suspect that they had family help to carry out the work. Another two houses were commissioned by wealthy families using their kids as the designers - a total unrealistic example of how house design works in reality (for them there were no commercial pressures, no time pressures). The Hall seems to be a genuine commercial relationship between architect and client but given the length of the construction programme - 5 years - and the size of the house / extent of the work I would estimate it cost well over £5m. So that just leaves the Farmworker's House which appears to be a normal client / Architect appointment and with a budget that doesn't run into the many millions. So it should win.
Much as I love interesting architecture. I can't help thinking about how even basic home ownership is becoming an unreachable dream in so many affluent western countries. There is certainly a growing problem of homelessness here in Australia, with even people in employment unable to secure affordable rental 😢
loads to appreciate here, but what kept capturing my attention throughout the film was the exterior brickwork, which to me looked like a weave , I dunno if that lands with anybody else ?
Does the greenhouse cover to the stair well not bleed heat in winter? Obviously single skin, intrigued to know how this got past regs given heat will shoot up the stair well owing to stack effect...

I am sorry to read this… studio,
This is a piece of art with place for lovely people in it. Beautiful. Like a hug that became architecture.
@@lomalinke5042 nice 😊

The house is lovely but what really stands out is the humility and warmth of the people involved.
How beautifully the scoop in the wooden fence mirrors the window in the front door & complements the arched entrance.
Wow! Clever design top to bottom. A joy to look around! Well done Surman Weston! This would be a well deserved winner.
I love your home.... I think it is possibly the loveliest house I have ever seen in the way the space flows, the design flows and the light flows through it.
Very nice. This style would make an attractive yet unobtrusive terrace of houses.
Now that's a real home! One that will only get better and better with time. Well done guys.
A bricklayers nightmare but the result is fantastic,
well done everyone involved in this project,

Wow! Absolutely beautiful brickwork.
🤩😍💯👍👍👍 The pattern of the brick work is awesome! Full of super beautiful ideas in this architectural work...
Spectacular. You must be so proud of what you created. Looks like a joy to raise a family in

I’ve watched all of the short list and I think this one is my favourite!
I LOVE this house! What a wonderful design. The use of materials inside and out is inspiring. Congratulations to all involved with bringing this house into being!
There ya go, that's some good design. Nice job chaps!
What a beautiful home - huge congratulations - very Inspirational !
What a beautiful, original building!
Beautiful and shows a nod to the local vernacular doesn’t mean pastiche
Yay for interesting brick work again! I feel like we just don’t see enough of it these days. Lovely home, I hope it brings you all the joy.

Well done...lots to like...certainly optimized the site... brick work is sublime...

Beautiful house. Love its situation. Quirky and functional and doesn’t cover two football pitches or cost £2m.
Wow, I love everything about this house. The echoes of semicircles from the front door to kitchen is sublime.
The brickwork is superb 👏
Really great! Rooftop is amazing!! 🌟
It’s wonderful. What a wonderful house.
You can sense the pride they take in the local workmanship and local style and influences, seamlessly blending into the environment. My fav!
Wat a joyful design! Compliments! 👏🏆
beautiful use of space, just excellent in every way!
There architects here 'smashed it'
Very interesting brickwork, and a roof garden. Nice!
Really lovely inside and out.

Envious of the wood. Congratulations on the award. A real home.
That end-cut flooring is both inspired and mesmerisingly beautiful ❤️
I've made chopping boards that way in my workshop and had plenty of related headaches... I can't even fathom making a whole floor that way 😂
wonderful, thoughtful design :)
Well done …..you are very fortunate to have had this experience of building and living in a real home.
Quelle magnifique maison, aménagée avec un goût exquis. Et ce rooftop est un rêve ❤️.
great. Nice to see some toys about. Its a real used space.
They really did manage to somehow reconcile the brutalist car park, victorian row & council townhouses. Lovely, context sensitive work.
Truly stunning compassionate architecture, congratulations.
This is simply beautiful👏🏻
Brilliant, just brilliant I love it.
It's a triumph! Well done to all concerned. I hope you did or do win house of the year.
Exceptional, how everyone should be living by now
6:21 Living in my to-do list. Yep that's how it is. Somehow this guy finished his tho. Top job, hope it wins.
Final point on the to-do list, win RIBA prize ☑️
Really love this. Great Architecture
Super stylish house with a lot of thought that has gone in. Love it. Would have been nice to know the sq footage
When you are lucky enough to live in a house like this…life IS better!
This is really beautiful.
What an incredible project, well done to the architects (and the architect's family)!
absolutely brilliant build.
What a dream. Loved watching
The exterior looks like a giant cute picnic basket
Excellent in every respect 👌
Absolutely beautiful. Well done guys!
This is a beautiful home 😍
The round windows and doors is a nice homage to Dorich House
Nicely done!

they kept the mature trees which is essential

Beautiful!
Very nice job!
I'm surprised the stay-on lime mortar under the stairs doesn't crack, is some kind of latex added?
Lovely, excellent design
This is stunning!.
what a nice brick box
Beautiful house, bravo !
Very well done
@0:35, I love the brickwork. I'm not sure that I like the big plain windows, but here are plenty of other elements to offset them.
You’ve done a great job
stunning

Wow! Lovely
Magnifique 💚💚💚
Smugness has definitely hit level 10 here. Bet the neighbours on the local council estate are very welcoming. :)
❤ beautiful 😍
love it!!
Love this.
Terrific.
I’d love to know how much the build cost! If anyone has any idea? Without site cost
Would imagine the land would’ve been eye watering.
@@phoenix-xu9xj: agreed. Land is by far the biggest outlay.
Sweet, just a great place to live…..
Супер!
Brave living there.
Lovely
A small detail... but how did they get approval for such a high front garden fence?
This is well cool
Fab

tresè mignon et original
How much is it cost to build?
Beautiful house. But the kitchen sink is definitely in the wrong place. Such a shame. So near perfection.....
You would have more space if you removed some of the clutter.
I think I would have felt free to ignore the car park when weaving the house into the context of the street
