Congratulations! One year-the first of many I am guessing...we set off living aboard over 25 years ago intending maybe five years...and now I cannot ever envisage not being here. The sound of the water, the wind, the freedom. Thank you for all the effort you put in to creating such thoughtful and beautiful memories that we get to share, they really are very special.
One thing that stops me ,an excuse of course, is all the locks .....but I need to try it before it's too late ..how do I know if it's a good boat or not ? Where can I learn ? Happy new year
here in the US its just crisping up into autumn with the threats of hurricanes and tornadoes. Not so bad where I live but as I am very old I have time to watch the reports and can feel the devastation of those under the weight of it all. Decided to have a light supper of 1/2 sandwich and soup and wanted to have a little company so I pulled up this vlog that I remembered enjoying. Great choice, thanks for the company so much more enjoyable than texting or even phoning. The two of you are such a treat, looking forward to all new offerings, keep charming us!
We absolutely love your videography/cinematography, you really capture the tranquility of the canal network. Please please please don’t stop ! EVER! We love the way you and Andrew interact, the way he calls you Kristina, you are very funny people. Chapeau ☮️
It's 5.30am I'm sat on a coach that takes me into work every day then takes me back to my accommodation on a camp ,i drove 6hrs to get here last night , I'm saving up for my dream, thanks for all thr vids you have posted 🎉
Fabulous! You capture the joy and tranquility that living on a narrow boat must bring; over the past 6 years I’ve traveled for a short time each year on a narrow boat, Worcester to Limehouse, Birmingham and Manchester. Early planning stages for Leeds to Liverpool next year. Enjoy all the experiences on your journey!
I was going to wait until I caught up to your uploads to post this, but your ending prompted me to say it now. I’ve been watching UA-cam basically since the start, and I’ve been watching vlog style channels for the last 8 years or so and I can say without a doubt that your videos are consistently some of the best I’ve watched. You’re style is great, you are both excellent photographers and videographers. The editing is great, the music, the flow. I am consistently impressed by the overall quality. Usually channels take some time to hit their stride, but your love letter to London video might be the best video of its type I’ve watched on the platform. I don’t get the impression that you’re in this for tons of views, but I think is only a matter of time before your viewership increases 10x. Anyway I have immensely enjoyed watching these and am a little sad that I’m catching up. Thanks for bringing the people in the camera along!
On the contrary. I have to thank you both for bringing your considerable talents to this not to miss channel. You have only scratched the surface of the network, so lots to forward too. And then there is Europe to consider! Look out for the books of Roger Pilkington. It is nice to know that have enjoyed the journey - your imagry proves this to be true.
Congratulations on being on the water for a year- it has been such a pleasure to watch your growth over your journey. Your vlogs reflect a calmer, more confident presence and it is truly wonderful to see. Thanks for taking us along - it is such a treat to watch your well thought out, edited videos. I just love the purposeful interaction with nature that you portray. Here's to another year of quiet adventuring with you both!
I'm within a whisker of finally buying a boat (the funds makes sense). Your channel has been instrumental in inspiring me that this lifestyle is the right choice. A lot of procrastination later...I can not wait for this new life. Thank you
What a wonderful production! Lovely that you have found nature to be as healing as you needed it to. I'm missing never having lived on a boat - I wish I had - but I've other blessings to be thankful for. Enjoy the herons, oh, and the bats at dusk!! Thank you.
The thanks are definitely to you. Thankyou for all your fantastic videos. I got really emotional watching it as you said how boat life has changed your life, changed you in a way that you didn’t even know you needed. You said you feel you’ve lived more this last year. At that point you got me 😢. I’ve wrote to you many a time and I’ve always said I was at my happiest when I lived on a boat. We’ve just bought our 8th one, 9 weeks ago as I’ve missed boat life so much. You explained exactly how I feel in a nutshell. I wish you all the best continuing your adventure and once again, Thankyou for sharing it with us all. Lots of love xx
🙏🙏 Thank you both for taking us along for the ride. Loved your reflections. I was just thinking I wonder how she feels after living on the boat for a year and then you started on with your reflections. I love your editing and soft voice overs. ❤ I’ve fallen in love with Matilda and all of the beautiful birds that you encounter and feature in your episodes. Thank you for continuing to create these beautiful and nourishing glimpses into your life. 🥰
I must give you top marks. Especially that bit in the end when you opened up to your audience, and so tastefully and honestly cemented your own authenticity on it. Thru many things around happening lately, including videos like yours, we are seeing a new beginning on our planet that is perforce a spiritual one. We must not let anything sever our humanity from ourselves. I am now putting the iPhone down, too.
I've loved watching your journey, I really appreciate your directorial style and the gentle living that you both live and project in your vlogs. Here's to another year of lovely videos!
Thank you, this was lovely, I walk the canals in London frequently as I contemplate buying my first boat, like you I worry about the lack of space and safety but work means my boat life will need to start in London. I am also prioritising my mental health and there is a surprising amount of wildlife on the London canals.
Happy one year anniversary! You and Andrew are my favorite vloggers. I am always so happy when you post! I wish you both the very best for your second year🧡🍺
I've just discovered and am binge watching your videos. Stunning cinematography and love the banter, humour and kindness in your videos. Matilda is also so adorable. Thank you so much.
Thank you, for sharing your journey over the last year. Each vlog has been a much anticipated treat of cinematography, beauty and charm. All the very best for the next year of boating life ❤
That sammy looked YUMMY! Falling out of bed is new alarm clock for me. YES...your tomatoes will ripen - I do that ever Fall hanging tomatoes over clothes lines. Nature does healing...the Japanese call it shinrin-yoku and I'm a believer. So HAPPY for you Kris on making that discovery...it's a very personal experience not easily put in words, but you did a GRAND wordsmithy effort! I feel like I should be thanking y'all [I do] because your videos are nicely edited - thank you for sharing! Be well - many blessings! Cheers...
Just really found your channel, and its a breath of fresh air, esp given the bereavement I have suffered and caused so much anxiety and sorrow, just to listen and escape for a while is so good thank you for sharing your journey with us,
That was emotional, thank you Kris & Andrew As a gnarly auld software engineer who's been on the retail internet since the beginning, it is heartening to see the unleashing of creativity which, before, had little outlet.
Happy Boatanniversary to you both…and Matilda of course. Love low light video at the beginning. Nice concert footage. I love listening to you talk Kris about living on the boat, and life in general. Very interesting and relaxing. Had to laugh out loud when Andrew got the old grabber out. How the devil did he even spot the camera? 🤔 Great work Andrew, another save! I am glad that the people whose boats shifted when you had to get water in the pond were good natured. So glad you both chose this life and are sharing it with us. Thank you 🙏 😊🤗 Kathy
Happy Boat-aversary! Just want to say how much I enjoy these videos, the music and the images. This one especially has the same chilled out, cosy feeling in that you get watching Joe Pera Talks With You…
Thank you for sharing your adventures, the visual fest you provide is awesome. Ive been with you guys from the start and have loved every moment If new zealand had canals i would be on em. Its on my bucket list
Happy boativersary ! I've loved watching your videos from the start and they have really been inspiring . I can't live on a narrowboat as it wouldn't be practical for me at the moment but at least I have had a taste of the life. Thank you both so much and I look forward to following you as you continue your journeys. xxx
I’ve only recently discovered your channel, having been following some other canal boaters for several years. I find your videos absolutely delightful. Very calming. The videography and the choice of music is outstanding. Keep up the good work!
I am horrible about leaving comments. I found you on your most recent video but I went back to the start to watch your journey. It has been very enjoyable to watch and see you learn things along the way. Thanks for sharing your journey.
😍happy belated boativersary! Excellent winter choice and always thrilled to see the grabber make an appearance! As ever, in love with your gorgeous footage and edit.
Definitely congratulations on your first year and respect for taking what could’ve been a step to far truly glad it wasn’t. Just hope you and andrew carve out a good life for yourselves, enjoy each and every day especially with all that beautiful scenery. I’m a south Londoner through and through moved away a few years ago don’t miss it at all.
Lovely! This popped up in my recommendations last week. I enjoyed it so much I watched another, then another, eventually bingeing through the whole series and watching this one again. I've enjoyed going on the adventure with you, and of course I've loved your gorgeous photography. Looking forward to more!
no, THANK YOU! I've recently come across your channel - this is beautifully filmed I enjoyed it very much! Whoever owned the narrowboat you passed had an EPIC roof garden! amazing! :)
I was going to comment 'No! Thank you' however I was pipped at the post by 'allpicturenosound', that said, I'm 4 days behind watching due to working away... So, thank you Kris & Andrew for your cinematic & relaxing videos, they sooth my soul, especially when you end up in a pub for a few 'scoops' 😀🍺🍺. Looking forward to watching your upcoming adventures with a glass of red 🍷🙂

Happy boativersary! It’s our wedding anniversary today, so I guess we celebrate extra today! I so love your content. ☺️ Thanks so much for a year of awesome videos. 🫶🏼
What a beautiful vlog , congrats on the year on the boat 🥂🍾… I have loved all the vlogs you do and just watching where you and Andrew travel to and love the scenery you film and all the beautiful wildlife …. I look forward to many more vlogs and if I lived on a boat I wound never give the boat up it would be just idyllic…… safe travels and more vlogs 😂… so glad I found this channel ….. 📖💘
Wow, that year has passed so quickly but in that year I have so enjoyed every video done with an artists eye, look forward to the next year and following your travels.❤
Kris and Andrew. What an awesome vlog your delivered this evening. So much of your past was so interesting. We feel we are getting to know you both more. Those low water levels seem they may become a pain in the future going through the locks. We're heard of other boaters having to raise the levels themselves, It's only of recent this has been happening.Let's hope this doesn't become a big issue hey.Looking forward too see you soon.Stay safe xxx.😍 Glenn & Marion Leeds.
Congrats to 1 year! I’ve just found your channel and I’m going back to watch all the videos… amazing channel! I’ve laughed so hard… sorry, the episode where you fell in the canal and were drinking gin to not die… 😂😂😂
Happy boat Anniversary ! I really enjoy watching your videos, you just have an eye for finding the coolest shots🤩. Looking forward to the next ones👍🏼🙋🏼♀️🥰
. Le riprese sono favolose. Mi piacerebbe sapere il luogo finale dove siete arrivati. E' un viaggio assolutamente coinvolgente ... Saluti, Beppe
Nice. Daily writing is an excellent thing to do. It just sorts you out. Allows you to get a handle on things. For me, that's usually an evolutionary process over a number of scribbles leading to an unfolding. Sometimes it meanders over pages, and sometimes it just goes boom, and you find something intensely satisfying looking up at you over a paragraph or two that you can't stop looking at. A mike drop that makes your coffee taste real good. No one will ever see it, but it's always with you. Helping you flow through this life with a better understanding and appreciation, leading to a life worth writing about (or filming :-)
You’re absolutely right, that’s exactly what it’s like! You have to get a load of total crap out of the way, but then some real revelations slap you round the face. Very satisfying.
No thank you...its been a fantastic journey watching you guys. One of life's little pleasures watching your blogs with a cuppa. I saw your boat boat in May back in Berko when i was walking the canal to my mates house on the Ashby. It would have been great to say hallo in person and wish you all the best. Alistair (the bookkeeper)
@@krisatomic It took 10 days starting from Hemel Hempstead and up the GU to the Coventry and then onto the Ashby. My friend lives in Market Bosworth. The Ashby a very nice canal with no locks but not many facilities so you have to plan ahead. The walk was in May as I said earlier and I walked about 10 miles a day. The stretch between Berko and MK is easily the nicest scenery but you will know this. I am so glad you have found that living on a boat and experiencing all that lovely country side has has such a mental health benefit for you both. One day I will get a boat, after all all I need is the internet and a desk to do my job as a Bookkeeper! Best wishes to you both, Alistair
Wow 1 whole year we been watching your fab vlogs, you both are so talented you make a box of oxo look stunning, which it is the way you present it, we just got back from a trip up gu and loved Beko ,tring and the reservoir with mk being so amazingly surprisingly gorgeous, take care and all the best for year 2, see you on the cut.
We've only just found your vlog. We watch a few narrowboat vlogs, but I love the artistry on this. Instant-subscribe. Looking forward to catching up with how you've got to where you are.
Enjoyed your vlog ...I started watching canal vlogs in lockdown as it gave me space and took me away from all the bad news then....since then I follow floating my boat couple ...I have enjoyed your episode and it's all very stlyish and beautifullly done .Good luck with your next adventure as time waits for no one....... do things while you can .... as I can't believe where the time has gone
(Late) Happy Anniversary!! Thank you for sharing everything, I live by the canal and you remind me to actually see it ❤ Been following you around the internet for years, since the early gig days of, I think, the libertines? Your style just gets better x
Hey Kris, I just got recommended this video and saw your name "kris atomic" and thought omg, I haven't heard that name in a long time, I hope it's who I'm thinking of! And you are! I used to follow your illustrations a long time ago, when I was a kid with a hobby graphic design website. I put "Kris Atomic" into the wayback machine so I could have a browse of your 2009 blog page. So fun. I'm glad you're doing well, love the boat, and happy to see you are still living a creative life!!
I really enjoy your videos, especially when Matilda is in them 😺 I dream of a narrow boat life on the canals but realistically know at this point in my life it's unlikely to happen so enjoy it vicariously through you ❤
We love watching your videos. Congrats on your 1st year anniversary. It's been really interesting seeing your journey. Paul and Anne, NB Dreamcatcher on the Mon and Brec.
I just discovered your channel. This video was a beautiful experience - how calming and wonderful to see a slower pace of life. Thank you for sharing it

that’s incredible really it is

here in the US its just crisping up into autumn with the threats of hurricanes and tornadoes. Not so bad where I live but as I am very old I have time to watch the reports and can feel the devastation of those under the weight of it all.

I look forward to many more vlogs and if I lived on a boat I wound never give the boat up it would be just idyllic…… safe travels and more vlogs 😂… so glad I found this channel ….. 📖💘
Thank you for your lovely comments, it really means a lot 🥰
So loved watching, thank you for sharing ❤
Wow, that year has passed so quickly but in that year I have so enjoyed every video done with an artists eye, look forward to the next year and following your travels.❤
Thank you for watching 🥹❤️
Kris and Andrew. What an awesome vlog your delivered this evening. So much of your past was so interesting. We feel we are getting to know you both more. Those low water levels seem they may become a pain in the future going through the locks. We're heard of other boaters having to raise the levels themselves, It's only of recent this has been happening.Let's hope this doesn't become a big issue hey.Looking forward too see you soon.Stay safe xxx.😍 Glenn & Marion Leeds.
Thank you both very much ❤️ the water levels have definitely been a challenge at times! Either too little, or on later occasions too much 😮💨
Congrats to 1 year!
Thank you ☺️
Thanks so much Alistair! And do say hello if you see us again of course 😊. You walked all that way?! How long did it take you!
That’s fantastic! Very impressive.
Just seen this… beautifully shot and edited, a real treat. Will look forward to more!
Thanks so much 🥰
We've only just found your vlog.

Thank you ☺️😘
Hey Kris, I just got recommended this video and saw your name "kris atomic" and thought omg, I haven't heard that name in a long time, I hope it's who I'm thinking of!
I really enjoy your videos, especially when Matilda is in them 😺 I dream of a narrow boat life on the canals but realistically know at this point in my life it's unlikely to happen so enjoy it vicariously through you ❤
Thank you for watching! And kisses from Matilda 😽
Great video as always. Congratulations!
Thank you very much!
We love watching your videos. Congrats on your 1st year anniversary. It's been really interesting seeing your journey. Paul and Anne, NB Dreamcatcher on the Mon and Brec.
A very realistic summary. I wish you both well.
Thank you very much ❤️
I just discovered your channel. This video was a beautiful experience - how calming and wonderful to see a slower pace of life. Thank you for sharing it

You really do deserve more subscribers ❤
Hehe thank you!
