You really nailed a lot of things in this short; One, the designs of the characters based on Tartakovsky's style looks super clean, which is really cool~ I also really appreciate, and this is my main point of focus, the small movements of Dooku's eyes when he is about to die after Palpatine tells Anakin to carry out the deed; It really delivers the sense of dread he has and the realization of the fate that awaits him.
Palpatine: "He was to dangerous to be left alive." Anakin: "I shouldnt have done that its not the jedi way." litterally 24 hours later Mace: "He's to dangerous to be left alive." Anakin: "What have i done?!"
Palpatine said that so that Anakin would hesitate to kill him when he revealed he was a Sith, and would remember that the Jedi way is to not kill unarmed prisoners, and thus would fight to keep him alive long enough that he could beat the Jedi by using the government to kill them.
This actually just made me realize something: It's been a while since I've last watched the movies, so I completely forgot Palpatine saying Dooku was "too dangerous to be kept alive", which is exactly what Mace Windu says when he's about to kill Palpatine, so maybe that line from Windu provoked a response from Anakin influenced by the regret of killing Dooku.
I’ve always interpreted that as him realising truly that the jedi are no different from the sith. here’s one of the highest ranking jedi, using the exact same justification as their enemy to kill an unarmed man
Ooh yeah that's a good point, although I think from that perspective, there's also Anakin's bias towards Palpatine with his promises of helping Padme, and Palpatine was more capable of defending himself compared to Dooku, as he still had his hands and immediately struck at Windu after he was disarmed, but your point isn't lost on me, that's what Anakin would've thought there. It's the little things you captured so well that sells this way harder than it was in life action. The eyebrows on Dooku as he thought he had a chance of getting out of this alive, the little eye movements of Anakin that showed he hesitated before Palatine made him give into temptation. And the fact Palatine looks goddamn ANCIENT with all that detail. Good stuff, looks like it could have easily come right from the source art style....
I love Clone wars 2003 so seeing more star wars scenes in this style would be epic. I'd love a mandalorian wars or new jedi order show in this format as well
I love how Doge puts further emphasis on the Palpatine looks when he's being deceptive. Just makes the scene and Sidious all the more cunningly brilliant I reckon.
Okay THIS is just amazing. This imo looks better than the fight with grievous. It’s astonishing and crazy how close this actually looks to the show! For a second I actually thought this was from it and just never aired
This is outstanding :) I always though this scene was brilliant from merely psychological perspective. Pelpatine basically ordered Anakin to execute Dooku, and then did a little bit of gaslighting suggesting him that it was only his natural urge for revenge that forced his hand. Not that Anakin was pure and innocent, but I think Palpatine step by step made him believe that he's unstable piece of shit.

One, these animations are absolutely amazing. Two, this scene hits different and harder after you've watched the Clone Wars series. There is so much more weight behind Anakin's decision when you know the relationship between he and Dooku, and the struggle in himself
I really like how you have Palpatine/Sidious look away from Dooku as he tells Anakin to kill the fallen Sith Lord. It really sells the fact that he simply doesn’t see any more use in Dooku.
I like the detail of Anakin catching Dooku's free hand, since 2003 Dooku really loved swithing grips and that's exactly what he'd do in this situation.
you should make them more expressive. in the few "talking only" scenes of genndy wars the facial expressions particularly of anakin were a lot more well done and varied than hayden's constant "teenage angst" face

I feel like that was Anakin's last hope in not falling into the Dark Side. Had he not listened to Palpatine, the events of episodes 4-9 would likely not have happened. Anakin's doubt of Palpatine would slowly grow, leaving Palpatine with no apprentice to finish his plan.
man anakin had NO remorse killing many many people. I think the only real reason anakin struggles was because Palpatine was a wittness he couldnt get rid off.
This is really well made and is such a good replication of the 2003 style! I would recommend shrinking the lightsaber width but overall this looks awesome.
It would be very interesting to see Anakin/Darth Vader at the end of the Mustafar Duel when he becomes injured. It’s a very dark scene and this style of animation would have some potential to see that done very well.

I loved that Dooku is in disbelief at first, then looks up at Anakin like "Go on... this is your destiny"
It would be very interesting to see Anakin/Darth Vader at the end of the Mustafar Duel when he becomes injured. It’s a very dark scene and this style of animation would have some potential to see that done very well.
I love how the red blasting outside makes it look more gruesome than it really is, that’s awesome 👏🏼
