I'm guessing it's the same reason as several of Super Mario 64's impossible coins. The game devs had a "3 coins in a line" object that's used to place the coins, and it snaps them to the ground.
Interesting, I bet the reason this stud exists is exactly the same reason the impossible coin exists in Mario 64. There must be a spawner which creates a line of studs, but since the platform ends early the last stud snaps to the floor of the pit.
Or... The devs wanted to teach you not to jump at every shiny and think before you act. Dying trying to collect it will lose you more studs than you'll gain. It's a valuable lesson.
Perhaps the platform extended further in older builds of the game, or all of the studs in that area are shifted slightly to the left. And for whatever reason, the stud "snapped" to the floor.
I'm not sure it's accidental. The stud is so JUST off the screen that you have to move the camera to see it. And once you move the camera, it's just perfectly in frame. Not clipping off at all, a perfect view of it. To me this screams that some dev wanted to bait people off this ledge, which may even be the entire reason that room exists in the first place, given there's literally no reason to go there except for the studs.
given its not the only game with a blue stud thats impossible, it could also just be a dev joke of leaving something uncollectable to fuck with everyone
@@Kjf365 This. This whole area is fucking weird. Aside from the window-wiping storm troopers, the only way to access the area is with two different abilities. And all you get is two blue studs?
