Oh boy! Here we go. These videos are going to be great as a reference. I always struggle with cutting my fabric efficiently so I love that you showed a clear plan when cutting the fabric for this block. Thanks FQS!
This looks fun! I’m gonna jump in as soon as I find a Christmas jelly roll that I like! I love that you showed the entire process from start to finish, including the sewing! Makes it much easier to follow along! ❤️
Happy Christmas in July! Thanks Kimberly and FQS team for this exciting and FREE sew along. You spoil your customers so much and I love it! Happy 4th of July too 💥 💥💥
I didn't have Christmas Jelly Roll that would work and was about to order something. I have a huge stash of yardage and decided to use what I had on hand. (I will use my cc for supplies on a different quilt-along) I am So excited to see what Stonehenge Blues with White background will look on this Mystery pattern. Thanks for giving us this great Christmas Gift
Thank you for explaining that a reason to square up each block as you sew is to not have those threads show through in the finished quilt. That makes sense to me and makes me want to do the same!
Hi Kimberly! I just wanted to say thank you for this video! It’s amazing!! 💗💗💗 I was able to sew up perfectly sized blocks. I’m using leftover Christmas fabric from years ago. I can’t wait for next Thursday. Thank you again.
Love it but I do not have a Christmas jelly roll but I am going to use the Jelly Roll I have on hand! I have think it is Little Snippets - now I need 2.5 yards background.
I have so many projects started. Over a dozen quilts ready to be quilted, 25 in progress, and 10 or more ready to start! That is the sign of a twisted mind!
Thank you, Kimberly for the tips and tricks! I ended up cutting my jelly roll strips so they were 2-1/2 inches wide like you did! I'm hoping to get these 4 blocks done by Thursday. We have two new puppies in our home so they have kept us hopping. Roxy from Hudson, WI
I love how you cut out your fabric. I also love to watch you sew. You do such a great job that it makes it look so easy. I’ve never quilted a quilt but have quilted a zippered bag. The fabric you chose is adorable. I think I will try and make a quilt this winter when all my outside gardens are finished for the year. Thank you for sharing how you do your fabric & how you cut and sew it. 🇺🇸Happy 4th of July! 🇺🇸 PS - I need to order that roller presser. It looks amazing.
Okayyyy, I am going to go completely out of the lines on this one. I am using Christmas leftovers from years past and using a black background 😬. Fingers crossed. My daughter is sewing along w us and using up more of the Christmas leftovers , she’s using a muslin background. Soooo interesting this will be.
Beautiful quilt, I was wondering if you made the smaller design boards you used in this video? or maybe have a tutorial for making one, I had to pack majority of my crafting supplies & sewing notions after hurricane Ian and I want to make a few things to have in a camper, Thanks Ginny
Awesome job, Kimberly as usual! Love the block and your tutorial is always spot on! I did the one last year too and it was so much fun. Can't wait to start this one hopefully today!
I have a question. I layered my four strips and cut the A’s and B’s. For the C squares, the pattern says to cut three, which would give me twelve squares. Don’t I need 16 squares? If I am making four- patch blocks, I would need four colored squares and four white squares. Four colored squares times four strips should be 16 squares, not 12. Am I not thinking correctly?
Trying to patiently wait for the Chill fabric to come in before making this.....it isn't working well, but we all know how that goes :) Wonderful tutorial and I can't wait to start making it (hurry Moda!)
Hi Quick question...rather than a jelly roll of different fabrics, I'd like to do a metallic white fabric with a light blue background. Since this is a mystery quilt, I don't know if that will work. Do you think it will? Thanks so much
Kimberly, please tell me the name of the presser foot you are using. It looks like it prevents the fabric from passing under the right hand side, to get a perfect 1/4” seam. Also, is it only available fir the Juki? Love your awesome videos!
What sewing machine is Kimberly using? OMG! I NEED that foot! No wonder can she sew so fast!! Please and thank you re: the machine. My Fabric is ironed and ready to be cut and sewn.
Ok, I’m using the same machine, same foot and I’m coming up short on the blocks?? I’m starting this just now, a little behind, obviously...lol. I’ve checked my cutting and it’s ok. So, what am I doing wrong to come up short? I watched ur Video, several times, to see where you’re sewing at, and I’m thinking ur using the edge of the pressure foot? Plz help.
Fat Quarter Shop yep....Yes...I see you used different reds....I used the same reds. They look amazing. This is so exciting! Thank you for all your hard work and wonderful vids and patterns 😻😻😻
Hello, I just wanted to ask if the Faultless Heavy Hold will work for the starching the fabric as that is all I can find. ?? Do I spray the fabric as much as you do. ??
Hello Geraldine! Lilly uses that one. If you spray more lightly and only on one side you can get the same results as Kimberly does with spraying the Original heavily.
Great explanations. Doing Wayside & others leftovers. Dark Grey ,champagne, silver ,gold ,copper , white. Dark center to lights Which blocks would work for that ? Or is it equally b
All we can really recommend is just make sure your background contrasts with any strips you're using. The strips, when completed, will form a cohesive design against the background.
Thanks for the Quilt Along. I've cut out blocks one and two and will start piecing today. Please consider eliminating the word "each" from the cutting directions of the background strips. It works for the jellyroll strips but not the background. Using the word "each" for the 5 background strips is confusing because it really translates as 8 - 2.5 X 8.5 pieces from "each" strip, and so on. Not possible. I know it isn't possible to make the listed cuts from "each" of the 5 strips, but it might help us out if this was changed. Thanks, Laura Reed
I have a small jelly roll, (not Moda), and it has 4 of each color, so there are 5 patterns. There are 2 darker prints, 1 light print, and 2 medium. So I'm not sure whether to go dark to light or vice versa, or go dark, medium, light, medium dark. Suggestions?
Hello Pam! Here is the foot that Kimberly used: Compensating 1/4" foot for Juki TL Series" www.sewvacdirect.com/juki-edge-guide-compensating-foot-for-tl-series-machines/ Here is a link to the foot Kimberly typically uses Universal ¼” foot with guide on the Juki TL2010: amzn.to/1jywCOE
Could you please tell me what kind of presser foot you use? I’m really new at this and it seems my fabric gets stuck or pulled down and jammed up. Sorry if it’s a dumb question...
Hello G Wenna! Kimberly is using the Juki ¼” Edge Guide Compensating Foot For TL Series Machines - www.sewvacdirect.com/juki-edge-guide-compensating-foot-for-tl-series-machines/

Hi Kimberly. I love all your videos. Helping me learn so much. I'm a beginner quilter and have a question. How would I go about increasing the finished size on this quilt?
Hello Terri! Edyta Sitar of Laundry Basket Quilts has instructions listed on her blog for how to increase your quilt size. www.laundrybasketquilts.com/blog/quilting-along-jelly-snowflake/
Hello! Kimberly prefers to use a 1.75 stitch length because it provides more strength which in the end helps her quilts last longer. Kimberly uses the Juki TL-2010Q sewing machine: amzn.to/2onygue
Hello Debby! For this quilt we are recommending fat eighths or fat quarters as an alternative. There will be some pieces that are longer than a layer cake so we do not recommend it.
My kingdom for that presser foot! lol And with the fabric being starched, it sews up so nicely.
Oh boy! Here we go. These videos are going to be great as a reference. I always struggle with cutting my fabric efficiently so I love that you showed a clear plan when cutting the fabric for this block. Thanks FQS!
Who knew it would be so fun to watch someone sew a block beginning to end...no cutaways...💗
Love this block. Kimberly your company is the best. I love doing business with you. Thank you for all the free videos and directions.
Great camera work while Kimberly is sewing. Spot on!! 👍
I'm so very excited to join the Jelly Snow Flake Mystery Quilt group! My fabric should arrive today, and I am just so excited!!!
Fabulous video. Great reminder of how to precision cut and see.
This looks fun! I’m gonna jump in as soon as I find a Christmas jelly roll that I like! I love that you showed the entire process from start to finish, including the sewing! Makes it much easier to follow along! ❤️
Yeah! My first FQS sew along!, I am sew excited. Thank you Kimberly and FQS 👏❤️🎄🥰
This little needle book is sew cute!❤️🧵✂️
Great tip about cutting the jelly roll strips to 2.5 inches. I always assumed they measured 2.5 all the time! 👍🏽❤
There would hardly be any sense in paying the cost of precuts if you can't trust the company to accurately cut the fabric! Buy elsewhere.
Happy Christmas in July! Thanks Kimberly and FQS team for this exciting and FREE sew along. You spoil your customers so much and I love it! Happy 4th of July too 💥 💥💥
I like your tip to cut the background fabric into smaller chunks to starch! And your visual about shrinkage using the strips. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing, love them!
Oh, so pretty!!! And so Exciting!!! Thank You So Much!!!
Oh how exciting, a Christmas sew along! Thank you. 🐢
I didn't have Christmas Jelly Roll that would work and was about to order something. I have a huge stash of yardage and decided to use what I had on hand. Your videos are extremely well done and easy to follow. Love the timer at the top! Thank you for all you do.
Thank you for explaining that a reason to square up each block as you sew is to not have those threads show through in the finished quilt. That makes sense to me and makes me want to do the same!
Kimberly, great video. I'm going to join in on the fun🤶🎅🌲
Your level of precision is AMAZING! Such a cute block.
Hi Kimberly! I just wanted to say thank you for this video! It’s amazing!! 💗💗💗 I was able to sew up perfectly sized blocks. I’m using leftover Christmas fabric from years ago. I can’t wait for next Thursday. Thank you again.
Love that you are using the cute little rolling pin that came in our monthly FQ box!
A Christmas in July sew along, yippee! I cannot wait to see how this turns out. Thanks FQS.
Love it but I do not have a Christmas jelly roll but I am going to use the Jelly Roll I have on hand! I have think it is Little Snippets - now I need 2.5 yards background.
Thank you. You make it look so easy and perfect.
Thank you Kimberly. I look forward to next Thursday❤️❤️❤️
Like I need another project! Running out to get my fabric today. This can't come at a better time, something to look forward to!
I have so many projects started. Over a dozen quilts ready to be quilted, 25 in progress, and 10 or more ready to start! That is the sign of a twisted mind!
Brandi Covey LoL! Not twisted, just very creative! 🧵 ✂️ 🧵
I love this! The Deer Christmas Collection is super cute!
Pretty and festive.
Cute block Kimberly and am excited to start this block....thanks
O’Boy like I need another project! I missed out on last years sew here I go. Great video and am excited to cut and sew! Be Well Everyone

So excited! Thanks for the little tips and reminders along the way. 💖
❤️❤️❤️ can’t wait to make my own blocks tonight after work!! Thank you so much Kimberly !!

My daughter is sewing along w us and using up more of the Christmas leftovers , she’s using a muslin background. Soooo interesting this will be.
Great idea. I have Christmas jelly roll strips left over. I may do the same.
What is the finished size of the quilt?
Thank you! Love this from 🇬🇧
I can't wait to get started this evening!
Thank you for this tutorial!

I have all my fabric!! I've been waiting for it to begin. It's finally here! Yay!

Yay! It’s time to start!!!
Lovely block, going to start on the weekend. I like your design board, great idea. Did you do a tutorial on making them? Thank you 😊
Hello Sandy! Here is the tutorial on how to make a design board: ua-cam.com/video/1nSZtoionpA/v-deo.html
Fat Quarter Shop ...Thank you so much 😊
I didn’t have wood so I used a strong cardboard. Just have to be careful not to bend. Lol
@@alaskaway9076 I used thick posterboard. Works well too!
Time to raid my stash!
Me too. Not using Christmas fabrics either
still waiting on my fabric to arrive from the FQS. Its been shipped can't wait to get started!!
Kimberly, please tell me the name of the presser foot you are using. It looks like it prevents the fabric from passing under the right hand side, to get a perfect 1/4” seam. Also, is it only available fir the Juki?
Love your awesome videos!
Hello C! Kimberly is using a Compensating 1/4" foot for Juki TL Series: amzn.to/1jywCOE
Looks like a fun block to sew! But I still need to choose fabric...oh no!
Hi Kimberly, would I be able to use a white jelly roll as the background fabric for the whole quilt?
She showed that on last weeks? live stream
Hello Linda! You would be able to use a white jelly roll as the background fabric for the whole quilt.
Thank you Kimberly!
I don’t think you can use a jelly roll for the whole background. Block 2 has a center square that’s larger than 2&1/2”?
What sewing machine is Kimberly using? OMG! I NEED that foot! No wonder can she sew so fast!! Please and thank you re: the machine. My Fabric is ironed and ready to be cut and sewn.
What do you guys think about making these blocks scrappy? Would it work? I am using the Flutter and Shine by Riley Blake Jelly Roll.
Hello Kayla! That sounds like a great idea. As Kimberly would say, "You do you"
So excited! Will it have a Christmas theme or can I use any jelly roll I already have?
Can you make strips from fat quarters- will the pieces be long enough?
Ok, I’m using the same machine, same foot and I’m coming up short on the blocks?? I’m starting this just now, a little behind, obviously...lol. I’ve checked my cutting and it’s ok. So, what am I doing wrong to come up short? I watched ur Video, several times, to see where you’re sewing at, and I’m thinking ur using the edge of the pressure foot? Plz help.
I have used the same fabric for all 4. Will that work? 🤔🤞 love this....thank you 😻
Hello Vicky! Are you asking if it is okay that you used the same fabric for your four blocks?
Fat Quarter Shop yep....Yes...I see you used different reds....I used the same reds. They look amazing. This is so exciting! Thank you for all your hard work and wonderful vids and patterns 😻😻😻
Hello, I just wanted to ask if the Faultless Heavy Hold will work for the starching the fabric as that is all I can find. ?? Do I spray the fabric as much as you do. ??

Hello Karleen! As long as the strips contrast with the background, it'll be fine.
So I have one jelly roll but it has only five colors. Will that look okay for this quilt?
Any thoughts on making this out of flannel? Too thick?
Hello Jerri! You can try it out with flannel, the seams will be bulky but if you don't mind that, go for it.
Thank you this is fantastic. Please can you tell me which quarter inch foot you use?
Hello Pam! Here is the foot that Kimberly used: Compensating 1/4" foot for Juki TL Series" www.sewvacdirect.com/juki-edge-guide-compensating-foot-for-tl-series-machines/

Hello G Wenna! Kimberly is using the Juki ¼” Edge Guide Compensating Foot For TL Series Machines -

Fat Quarter Shop is that a scant 1/4” or accurate 1/4”?
Hi Denise, that is an accurate 1/4" foot.
This is great!! You give such amazing tips Kimberly! What is the pins you recommended please?
Hello Nancie! Kimberly recommended the Clover 100 Count Patchwork Glasshead Pins Size 23 - www.fatquartershop.com/clover-patchwork-pins-clover-232

for the background can we use a jelly roll as well? Just wondering if in the other blocks we will be using widths wider than 2.5".
Hello Mary! Yes, some of the background widths are wider than 2.5", but you can piece together JR strips to make them if you need.
Why such a minuscule stitch length? Also, what kind of machine is that? I love the seam guide!
Hello! Kimberly prefers to use a 1.75 stitch length because it provides more strength which in the end helps her quilts last longer. Kimberly uses the Juki TL-2010Q sewing machine: amzn.to/2onygue
Can I use fabric from my Monthly Fat Quater Bundles instead of a Jelly Roll or will I need the Jelly Roll for the length on future blocks?
Hello Pattie! You may use fabric from your monthly Fat Quarter Bundles.
Since most of the jelly roll strips seem to be cut up, do you think I could use some layer cake leftovers? or?
Hello Debby! For this quilt we are recommending fat eighths or fat quarters as an alternative. There will be some pieces that are longer than a layer cake so we do not recommend it.
