    It occurs to me that this pattern would make a really cute baby quilt in fun fabrics. It’s dynamic, has a lot of movement and in bold colors with a bit of black-and-white it would be totally cute! This is a really fun pattern! Thanks, Kimberly and Gang!

    I have the same machine and never gave thought to using the right compensating foot for piecing. Given the accuracy you achieve, I’m going to give it a try.

    This is the first project like this for me and the first patchwork I have done in about 35 years! My blocks are not nearly as perfect as Kimberly's but I sure learned a lot! It has given me the confidence to take the rest of the jelly roll and make a 2nd one.

    Love your videos. Finally I meet up with a quilter that pins blocks together prior to sewing and presses after each seam sewn! For me this helps with the accuracy of the block. I’ve recently purchased a Roll & Press tool - though I must say getting up to the ironing board is a good break from sitting at the sewing machine….

I had it arranged a little different on my design wall so I will rearrange it according to the pattern and see what I think before sewing it together. O my I have learned so much from these videos about so many things. #1 Starching was a must on my 2 1/2 strips #2 how to do points on the stars #3 it is OK to press the wrong way there is a way to fix it by a small cut and press it again #4 cutting half yards and cutting 2 1/2 strips from them instead from the whole ball of wax, so much easier to do so much manageable #5 and them putting on the borders by measuring it in half and putting a little bit pass the ends of the quilt and them measure the quilt in half too. I'm so proud, one more thing closer to a Christmas to-dos off my list. Thank You for the free pattern and all the videos to go along with it. Can not wait to see what is for next year, I'm on board totally for another one. Stay Safe till the next time.

    I enjoyed this sewing along so much! Now if I would just get it done!! Tell me what is wrong with my logic on the following .. I don’t like to press open 1/4 seams (bad hands). So what I do for borders and for binding is I press open the seams before I cut off the excess. That gives a lot of fabric to work with and I don’t burn my hands. I then go back and cut the excess down to a 1/4 inch seam. Is there a problem doing it this way? I assume this is the video that had to be re-recorded! Thanks for sharing! Great job to you, Lilly, and the lady who designs them!

    • @FatQuarterShopTX
      @FatQuarterShopTX  3 роки тому

      Hello Kathy! If you are just doing a bigger seam anyway, like 1/2", you can just cut the borders and binding wider, use a bigger seam for binding and borders and you shouldn't even need to trim it back down.

    I love your bonnie blouse lass, it is gorgeous. Your sewing machine sounds a lot quieter than some, please can you tell me what kind of Juki you have please and what is that quarter inch foot that you were using? Is just for a juki or can it go on other sewing machines? I am on the quilting part of my first quilt for my little teddybear AKA my grandson who is 5. Since he has a double bed, i made him a quilt that would fit it. He has autism like my son and my brother and he likes the weight on him, especially when he is upset, so his quilt he will be able to get cuddles from me, when he needs them most and when i'm around to give him the real thing. Harry's quilt is a disappearing 9 patch made out of Toy Story materials as that is his very favourite film/s. I’m a fairly new quilter and it just happens that none of the patterns I’ve made have had borders - except the Ultimate Beginner Quilt. In those videos, Kimberly stressed the importance of cutting the border exactly to the right length so that it would finish at the desired size. But here she specifically says not to do that. The way she marks the border length with the pins is similar, but I’m still confused about which way is correct.

      Hello Little Bay! The technique she's using for Jelly Snowflake is a slightly more relaxed method that still gets the borders perfect. By starting just slightly oversized, sewing down, then trimming, you don't have to be concerned about them falling short.

    Kimberly can you please tell me what I’m doing wrong. When ever I make stars I never have 1 full quarter inch at the tips. When I sew another piece to it. I lose all my points. How can I prevent this?

      Hello Linda! The first thing to check is how accurate your quarter-inch seam is. ua-cam.com/video/FVOCv7aoQcs/v-deo.html It sounds like your seam is maybe too small, which would cause your points to land beyond where they should, and when you piece the blocks together, you would lose the points.
