EXCELLENT video! Never got to fly them but came within inches of working for them at EWR (was interviewed and tested before AA acquisition and never heard from anyone lol. Oh well). I appreciate everyone who takes the time to use their talents to memorialize commercial aviation. Always close to my heart!
Great Video!!!! I Love and miss TWA, I worked there as an Aircraft Mechanic in the 1990's. Thank you very much for creating this video, it brought back many memories.
My mom was a stewardess on TWA - DC3 from Kansas City to New York. Had to quit once she got married. Loved the airline and it's people. No one today can match TWA. Thanks for the memories . . .
My dad is a furloughed TWA pilot. He too has moved on (JetBlue A320 F/O, recalled to AA but deferred it to wait until this economy improves), but TWA holds a special place in all of us. Best of luck to you.
Awesome! My Grandfather worked for TWA for over 40 years, the last 25 years as the GM in Indianapolis. My Mother as well as one of my aunts worked as TWA flight attendants before they were married....on Connie's. TWA was 'the' only airline in our family. As a child I remember being one of the first to board both the 747 and L1011 when they made their first appearances in Indianapolis thanks to my Grandfather. It was like a piece of me being ripped out when TWA was acquired by American.
This video is so good, I can't stop watching it. I watch it almost everyday. Best part: the 747 taxiing into Kennedy and shutting off its light. Also, the overhead view of Kennedy in the sunset.
TERRIFIC!!!!! I remeber flying with that great airline back in 1986 from JFK to Copenhagen, Denmark and back. I remember that trip like yesterday. Great song too! Thank you!!
That totally rocks! I love the ending with all of the planes lined up at the end. Perfect song for it too. I cant believe I almost teared up to a FS9 video...
My father was chief of flight operations for many years. I miss what TWA did for my father . Carl Icahn was a monster, he destroyed one of the worlds finest airlines. Not to mention all the wonderful people whom invested their lives in TWA. God Bless
It sure was hard work in that building. Re-stocking the carts with thousands of soda cans was indeed a pain, but... I sure earned my stripes. I mostly did "quick-turns" out on the ramp by prepping the jet's cockpits and cabins for their outbound flights. Being in and around those huge red and white birds, made my job pleasurable and memorable.
Just a 21yo uncultured kid from the South Bronx. What I learned about life in my 4 years as a TWA F/A has carried me further than my college degree. still miss you T-Dub.
wow! can't believe i came across this video. The TWA B777-200 in the 80's TWA Livery was the one i repainted back in 2003 for FS2004, it's a small world lol
I have missed TWA greatly, the last of the "classy airlines". The only one that comes close now is Continental, god help them if they merge with United. This was a well done video, thanks.
being a ST LOUIS NATIVE, I miss TWA SO MUCH. Most summers I could be found watching a cardinals game or watchin g TWA planes bringing the world to ST LOUIS. Since then St louis might as well be Tulsa, Columbus, or some other off the radar city.
My family grew up all around TWA at MKC/KCI at the TWA Overhaul Base. Talk about bringing back old memories. It could be just like yesterday, if Icahn hadn't destroyed it. Long live TWA!!!
"How was it to fly for TWA?" The word 'privilege' comes to mind. An honor as well. I had a 'balanced' career with TWA. Ten years as a Flight Engineer, thirteen as a co-pilot and finally, ten years as captain. Best wishes to you in your quest to become an airline pilot.
There is a little tribute in FS2004 for TWA: there is an airline called "World Travel Airlines" which means WTA, if you change the order is TWA, something like "Travel World Airlines". The white fuselage an red stripes are very similar.
Thanks for the info TWTR4EVER, very interesting backgund. I'm interested in yr comment - about the Super Constellation,- "developed by Lockheed to give PAn Am a run for their money." What planes were Pan Am using? Were Lockheed blocked from selling them to Pan Am? I heard they leaked oil all over the runways,- the RAF laid on special sand boxes to be placed under their engines when they very occasionally stopped at an RAF base.
This is a beautifully put together video with THE perfect choice of track by Arrow Smith. I guess a lot of it is simulation, I don't know? Is that really a StrataCruiser with the 3 fins? All airlines are struggling at present except for Air Lingus, who have loads of money. However, having flown with them once it was a frightful experience, particularly when the cost of flying was about 3 times the quoted seat price. I hope to never repeat it!
@nenblom American Airlines bought TWA in 2001, when they flew its ceremonial last flight - Flight 220 - from St. Louis to Las Vegas on December 1. It was also when all TWA routes had officially become that of AA's.
Ok, I'm NOT a flight-sim fan....BUT, this video was BEYOND Bitchin'!!! I hate to admit it, but watching this made me emotional. The line-up at the end with all the planes and liveries gave me chills. And the 747 in the last colors coming to a stop and turning off the lights was very fitting. I want to personally say THANK YOU! F@#& Carl Ichan.
TWA was one of the best airlines there ever was! As far as TWA 800 is concerned, accidents happen despite the best of intentions. The FAA/NTSB is the one that inspects and issues airworthiness certificates for each and every airliner in the sky. TWA's takeover by AA was the death knell for comfort and great customer service that used to be standard at ALL airlines. Now, we have Southworst et. al. where you're packed in like sardines & treated like cow manure.
After TWA's demise and the awful way their staff was treated by AA I have only boarded AA once since. I had no other choice at the time. TWA was a fantastic airline and even during the rough times they really tried to keep it together and they were always professional. I did notice after ICAHN got into the picture everything started to unravel fast and once he was gone they really tried but at that point the damage was too great. It was really sad for me to see them go.
Airline deregulation in the late 1970's. This spurred the demise on not only TWA but also Pan Am, National Airlines, Eastern Airlines, Braniff, Piedmont. I'm sure I missed others. It's truly sad. I flew on all these airlines as a kid.
warriordriver, Aerosim has the Tristar for TWA. It's a part of Classic Liners Vol. 2. You can get it for $35.00 as a download. It's only for FS9 aka FS2004 though.
@betelorg (PT-1) The Lockheed Constellation is born in 1939, pre WW2 with Howard Hughes requesting a 40 passenger pressurized cabin airliner from Lockheed for transcontinental flights (3,500m / 5,630km) her speed was 340mph/483km per hour. The intricate design was taken by Lockheed but Mr.Hughes was involved every inch of the way in the projects development! As the USA enter WW2 many were commission to the war effort before later being retrofitted into civilian commercial aviation!
That was a custom texture done by his friend. The aircraft itself is the POSKY 747-200. The interior I don't know but someone might have done it. Maybe his friend. The texture was never released. Maybe someday it will be.
Jack Frye and Howard Hughes' Airline. At least AAL made TWA heritage livery with one of their B737s. ^^ Jack and Howard till his last dying breath missed TWA terribly. Recommend reading TWA Howard Hughes Airline by Robert J. Serling!
This video is like gaining and losing TWA all over again. Even though I never got to expereience TWA, I heard it was a great airline. Howard Hughes would have bee proud of his "Little Airline that Could"!!!!!
No, some was sold to United Airlines, and some went to Delta. The rest went away in a bankruptcy court. About all that remains is the brand, which is licensed today to Boston-Main Airways, and is now called 'Pan Am Clipper Connection'.
@betelorg Pan Am was using the Boeing B. 377 Stratocruiser, until the Douglas DC-6B came out, then they upgraded to the Douglas DC-7C Seven Seas. I believe Eastern was another customer of the Super Constellation. The Constellation was developed as the XB-30 for bombing Japan. When, Lockheed lost the bid to Boeing, the design was converted from bomber to transport, where it proved to be superior to the Douglas C-54. The originial name of the Connie was the C-69.
@betelorg The aircraft with the three tail rotters was the Lockheed Constellation, Super Connie as it was called, it was developed together between TWA top brass Jack Frye, Paul Richter, Walt Hamilton and the one and only Howard Hughes together with Lockheed to give PAn Am a run for their money and to prepare TWA post WW2 for its big international expansion. Still for my generation (1970's) if you aim to break into the industry TWA was the airline you aim to be your employer!
Hi, WOW what a great tribute, I Love TWA. I'm looking for the TWA Tristar (2-stripe livery) Can you help me get one for FS2004? Kind regards, Mattijs (Holland)
This video makes me sad I never got to experience a flight on TWA. To anyone who got to fly with them, how was the experience? Also, since I want to become a commercial pilot, to any former TWA pilots, how was it to fly for TWA?
@betelorg (PT-2) TWA's specifications regarding cabin layouts and passenger comfort were unmatched in 2/6/46 when the first TWA Constellation open the new New York to Paris route that Juan Tripp/ Pan Am together with his bought and paid for politicians managed to keep as a monopoly for years! Pan Am will get their Constellations on 6/17/47 were as a marketing strategy were put into Pan Am flight #1, (around the world route) flight they operated for nearly 40 years!
i meant, AA should have kept more of TWA's planes, such as the 717, which could have replaced their Fokker-100's which they retired in 2004. And yes, I am a flyer of American Airlines, as can be seen by my username, which is the license number of one of their 777's.
@betelorg (PT-3) The DC-4 that evolved into the DC-6 & DC-7 would be her competitor, never as glamorous nor revered as The Constellation. The record belongs to TWA when in 9/29/57 she flew London to San Francisco in 23hrs & 19min TWA & Trans*Brasil Ailines, two airlines that I'm proud to have call home! TW/Howard Hughes & TR/Dr. Omar Fontana even some generations apart, both pioneers in the aviation of their respective countries!
Why do you just have films at JFK and LAX and not STL and MCI which MCI was the biggest part of TWA once and before it was closed TWA was based at STL.
What a great airline. TWA and Pan Am, the pioneers that ended all too soon. Sad and moving. American could have at least kept TWA's planes and employees or offered them similar jobs on American Eagle at the least.
Delta might have actually given the TWA people jobs instead of getting rid of them, like some of the former Pan-Am F/A's that are based out of JFK with DAL
I agree with you there, but if Delta brought TWA it would be worse because the bankraupcy that Delta went through propely would of ended up haveing the same result as American buying TWA.
I never been on TWA, but still imagining what it would be like in A380 or new Boeing 787 for pacific or transatlantic routes... If TWA is alive still today, then it can be compared with KLM or Lufthansa. Who ruined that beautiful airline?! I wanted to ride TWA.. T.T
I am a flight attendant, I really Feel that T.W.A. FA got screwed hard by AA. I was a flight attendant for AMR. I am happy I am not with them anymore. :)
Seriously, AA did not treat TWA's crew members well, but someone had to buy TWA eventually. Would it be better if it went out of business without being sold? And AA is not discriminatory. They have a very diverse workforce and I noticed they treat its passengers well, regardless of race.
EXCELLENT video! Never got to fly them but came within inches of working for them at EWR (was interviewed and tested before AA acquisition and never heard from anyone lol. Oh well). Great Video!!!! I Love and miss TWA, I worked there as an Aircraft Mechanic in the 1990's. Thank you very much for creating this video, it brought back many memories.
I do miss this great airline. Thank you for your service, TWA and employees!! Also, a tip of the hat to Howard Hughes.
I love it! My favorite part starts at 04:09 when the 747 parks among all the other planes, it's simply beautiful.
Awesome!
My Grandfather worked for TWA for over 40 years, the last 25 years as the GM in Indianapolis. When it was around, I always flew TWA. And, it was always a good experience. I miss it.

Thank you for making this video. Truly wonderful. TWA is my favourite airline, and you did a great job. Thanks again.

still miss you T-Dub.
I did found the aircraft of TWAs. Is in avsim. I don't remember, but someone uploaded TWA of A380. TWA lives in our hearts. We miss you TWA. T.T
Loved the final part of the video. Excellent compilation! Definitely a nice tribute for TWA...
wow! can't believe i came across this video. The TWA B777-200 in the 80's TWA Livery was the one i repainted back in 2003 for FS2004, it's a small world lol

TWA will always be in our hearts TWA = THE WORLDS AIRLINE UP UP AND AWAY WITH TWA
Great vid
Professional work
Keep it up with commercial jet vid's
If TWA was still in business, it would still be one of the best airlines of all time.
This is a beautifully put together video with THE perfect choice of track by Arrow Smith. I guess a lot of it is simulation, I don't know? Is that really a StrataCruiser with the 3 fins? This video is jaw droppingly beautiful, favourited
Beautiful video. So sad to see it gone.
TWA may be gone in the world, but never in our hearts.

BEAUTIFULL, one question, how did you manage to get fotage inside of the plane with flight simulator????
What caused the debut, i mean like Pan Am went out of service after people were too afraid due to the Pan Am 747 bomb.
DUDE..you really get the point...Congratulations.. Parabens muito bom trabalho...Alex

Why did TWA go out of service? Was it due to TWA 800?
There is one on cardatabases modified airliners section. It looks quite nice.

cool-my dad used to fly L-1011s and 747s as F/E, and 727s and 757/767 as F/O at TWA
He also flies for jetBlue now!!
I think I just noticed some AA aircraft at 2:57. Were they put there to signify AA's takeover of TWA?
Great airline, great video!
*sigh* It's a sad fact of life, not all great things last forever.
Twa a employees would have been honored. How do you walk through the cabin?
Research Carl Ichan.... He made the cuts that eventually bled TWA to death. TWA800 was just one of the final palpitations.
What an amazing video!
The thing i loved most about TWA was they were the best flag carrier because they only had american planes all boeing with the exception of TWE
Hey where'd you get the TWA Tristar, been lookin all over for one
@betelorg Pan Am was using the Boeing B. 377 Stratocruiser, until the Douglas DC-6B came out, then they upgraded to the Douglas DC-7C Seven Seas. 777 and TWA would've been such a perfect match, sad to see that would never materialize :-(
How did you make this video?
This video makes me sad I never got to experience a flight on TWA. To anyone who got to fly with them, how was the experience? Also, since I want to become a commercial pilot, to any former TWA pilots, how was it to fly for TWA?
JetBlue took terminal 5 of JFK. Terminal 5 has the name of TWA Flight Center. The movie, "Catch me if you can" appears Terminal 5 of TWA.
amazing
Actually it does work with FSX but it has a few issues. Some parts don't work well with FSX but it can be done.
i know taht but whate teh hell u mean with posetive? were u from? :P
Why do you just have films at JFK and LAX and not STL and MCI which MCI was the biggest part of TWA once and before it was closed TWA was based at STL.
TWA only had a hub at NY TWA was based at STL at the time.
What a great airline. TWA and Pan Am, the pioneers that ended all too soon. Sad and moving. American could have at least kept TWA's planes and employees or offered them similar jobs on American Eagle at the least.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't American buy TWA?
Really moving....
Who is THE MAN who destroyed the airline?
Just one tear..
@skyboi8605 really? what airline do you work for now?
SWEEEET!!!
Avsim has it. I found TWA aircrafts there for FS2004, but FSX... I'm not sure if is there...
Actually Awesome!

And AA is not discriminatory. They have a very diverse workforce and I noticed they treat its passengers well, regardless of race.
VERY GOOD
this might sound impossable but when im older ill do something about this!!!
What is the name of the greety man?
In FS X World travel now has a two different schemes, neither of which is red..
TWA = THE WORLDS AIRLINE
Part of a club that includes Gerald Grinstein, Frank Lorenzo and the Marsan brothers of Iberia..lol
He says its FS2004 aka FS9.
