There is a product called googone that might work taking that crud off. Just a little helper. I am enjoying this because I have to do my own tub drain. It totally came apart. Husband died 3 months ago and I have a lot of repairs to learn. Keep the videos coming.
The manufacturer of my acrylic tub specifies, no plumbers putty. It turns out, other brands have the same instructions. 100% silicon for the drainage gaskets. According to what I've read, the putty breaks down the chemistry in the composite material.
This is an excellent video. Great job. Of course my issue is that I can’t ever get the damn gaskets I need at Lowe’s and homedepot and it ends up taking me a day or two and several visits. 😖
This little ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxVoi3B4CB6Oygq1-vo4OTL1M_M5JkrXif tub works perfect in our 6 x 6 shower and is easy to get in and out. Also easy to drain.
My guy, next time just put the fitting in a vise while you are working on it, instead of gouging your fingers over and over! Thanks for the video though, it was definitely helpful, as well as comical too!

with one of these jacuzzi tubs I think they use chemicals in it, that would dry the seals out real fast, especially if they used a lot to sell the house before you bought it
I Wonder if anyone else has ever heard showers running just after you started your shower, while living in a apartment complex. Has anyone else noticed that even when you close your tub drain and put a drain stopper to keep the water in while you soak your feet, drain is still leaking out water, because I can hear water flowing through the drain even when the water off, and the drain is plugged, and the drain lever is turned to stop, yet water is still going down the tub drain. I noticed that even when I Did this, I noticed that I could hear water draining, even when I closed my drain and placed a drain stopper in my apartment tub it continued to allow water to drain. I live alone and I just wondered why this happens and if anyone else has experienced this problem before. Yes that is possible. And never clean and reuse the old gaskets. Their cheap just get a new one that you know won't leak once put back. And no one told you weren't allowed to say mother or father I've never heard that.
Damn it! That’s exactly what’s wrong with mine. Damn! I will need to make my hole bigger to get in there. I was hoping it would be a simple fix. What’s that tool called to unscrew the drain?
What model/ kind of humidifier? Did you check the drain line off the humidifier. Over years the clear tubing of used also becomes plugged up. The AprilAire 400 magnets could get glued down on the magnets and humidifier thinks it needs water. I have had water panels not allow water to correctly trickle through, where water would leak off. Also paint on the panel faces up when putting panel in. Let me know if this helps or if you found the cause. Also make sure the water isn’t splashing on the top of humidifier panel from the water feed hose, the plastic hose can tear from bending while replacing the panel. Don’t go through AprilAire just pick up 1/4” plastic fridge water pipe
Turn off the humidifier, remove water panel, if new keep it if not replace it, then with water panel off pour water into drain. Pour enough that would fill the whole line. If it still leaks then run it with the cover off and verify water is trickling through. If water is running down the outside pad is upside down, too much water, throttle the water feed valve to slow it, you only need a small trickle to be going on to the top of pad. Is the humidifier on supply or return duct. Supply duct applications leak from blowing water off panel. Which requires the water throttled down to very slow trickle. Let me know if any of this helped. Also verify when off the solenoid shuts down.
can I change the waste pipe only instead of the whole shoe? My drain is not leaking, I've already removed the wastepipe but I would hate to remove the drain if I don't have to!
I know I’m going to sound like an old mother hen here, but finger puncture wounds that are seemingly minor can turn into a serious infection very rapidly. I know this from experience. I got a small puncture wound from a rose bush thorn. Didn’t hurt when it happened and very little blood so I ignored it and continued working. After about a hour, my entire hand swelled up like a balloon and looked cartoonish. Went to emergency room and saw a hand specialist. Had to get admitted and put on a high dosage antibiotic IV to counter the real possibility of sepsis. Everything turned out OK after a few days in hospital. Lesson for me is don’t ignore those “minor” puncture wounds!
I've been searching how to fix the pipe where the trip lever goes since the older trip lever fall apart and i was trying to fish it out but what i was pulling was the pipe and now its leaking water. And it's being clogged. Do you know like how much a plumber my charge me to take out the old trip lever out and replace the new one.

I’m Sorry for your loss. Glad you’re staying positive and I commend you for taking on these projects! All the best.

Yes it’s hard to find the gaskets in the big box stores

You're good dude, thanks, love the step by step.

What the heck is with all them orbs flying around the basement that house has some spirits in it.

I appreciate the commentary lol.
Never reuse the old rubber for the price of what it cost to buy new it's not worth the hassle of of having it leak and re do the work.
Clamp the brass part(vice grip), then use a heat gun on the threads. A wire brush wouldn't hurt either.
Great DIY video

Just use a flat rubber tub stopper
in another youtube vedio, it shows the tub gasket can be removed and replaced directly through the drain hole. It seems no need to cut the ceiling.
No way of knowing it was in fact the gasket to begin with….
Wouldn't have been able to clean that putty off from above.
Have to remove water damaged materials anyways and allow visual inspection of repair and monitor it before patching.

Glad u removed moldy drywall
Not sure but wondering if a heat gun would soften up that hard gasket. It works on some things but not everything.
My drain and the bottom brass head of the tub turns together. Can't get it out
Use two channel locks or pipe wrenches or any combination that holds one and turn the other.
Great video. Thank you
ICP reference for extra points. 👌

Appreciate this video.
Hi Bill today I noticed my humidifier on the side of the furnace dripping water, what do you think could cause that?

@@billstools5244 it's a train humidifier
If you looked online can you match it to a Honeywell or AprilAire model? Do you have a flow through or magnetic floats inside?

Was it threaded? If so, yes. You may have to loosen shoe a bit tho to attach. Plumbing can sometimes be a huge rabbit hole. Best wishes! Jim

You should also have used Teflon tape on the outlet thread.

$250.00
@@dantheman4168 Thank you. I already got it fixed. They charge me $200
What’s the name of that tool you using ?
You don't need a new tool, lol, just use some heavy duty pilers.......the handle part. 😉 👍🏼
You just needed to reseal it with plumbers putty no need to cut the ceiling open
How much cost to fix this problem🤔
Plumber was called- 50 service fee and 150 per hour. Minimum 1 hour labor charge. So $200 minimum!
Looks like you need those gloves meat cutters use the made of stainless mesh LOL
That's the HVAC Hacker 🤡
