      I’ve never tried the blue monster so I can’t suggest it. I do like their tape. I will have to get a can to try out. Thank you.

      Pro tip, they make 1.5" extraction sockets for tub drains. Ended up replubing the drain anyway but man that thing was corroded as hell and came out with ease.

      @@ThatFixItGuyremoved the old drain easily! Tried installing the new one, the entire drain was turning when I tried to replace the drain! BTW, a jacuzzi tube was installed about 8 years ago! Upon removing the old drain, I did notice that the drain DID NOT have the gasket, the installers put plumbers putty instead! Any ideas on how to fix the problem?

    This was so easy to follow. We ended up having to replace the pvc pipe too. Still, it only took my daughter and me a couple hours, and that included driving back to the hardware store a couple times. Thank you for this video 😊

    For those that don't know, Teflon tape isn't a sealer, but a lubricant to allow fittings to be made tighter which helps to prevent leaks.

    • @ThatFixItGuy
      @ThatFixItGuy  10 місяців тому +3

      Right on! It is a super lube in my opinion. Thank you.

      It's also a sealer. Try not using it on gas lines😅

    First time I hear of this plumbing dumbell and it could be a life saver, I have a stubborn clog I can't get to by snaking through the overflow valve, now I realize I can just remove the drain and attack it from there, I just ordered this from amazon and should come tomorrow.. I hope it will be the solution to my problem!

      Once when I came across broken cross bars and before I watched this video, I had to chisel the plastic pieces away with a hammer and flathead screwdriver. In some areas was able to chisel in and somewhat turn part of the old drain. McGuver skills were definitely needed that day. Good luck!

    It all looks great, but I have big problem with removing old flange/rim - it keep spinning. I have managed to spin it with the tool, it kicked off the old silicon from between the rim and bathtub base, but even tho it's spinning quite easily it doesn't go up at all. I tried to spin and pool with pliers, but that doesn't seem to work either. What am I missing here? Are there kinds with no thread? Is this thread broken or unmatched? Maybe I am doing something wrong here? I also don't have access to under the bath tub as I would need to break the tiles (don't ask me - I bought this place like that..)

  • @medavis
    @medavis 2 місяці тому +1

    What was the point of the pipe dope on the gasket? Half of it seemed to rub off onto the bottom of the tub in the process of putting it in place. You don't really need to put teflon/pipe dope on these connections... they're drain pipes, so they're not under pressure!

    • @ThatFixItGuy
      @ThatFixItGuy  2 місяці тому

      I’m a cautious person and doing new construction Warranty for years have seen so many of these leak. The megalock will fill in the smallest scratches on the tub or the tub shoe. And you are forgetting about all the pounds of pressure when you fill the tub for a bath! That’s a good amount of head pressure. I would do the math, but I have to go read to my kids.

The moment i tried to turn the damn thing it snapped the cross bars, and when i tried to chisel the top it came off with a love tap. Now im waiting for my dad to come home( 😢) because the thread portion of the old one is stuck in there still.
