I like the neon it's cute
Just got my first car, it's a 1998 Dodge Neon. My goal is to get it as clean as this.
Go for it. The neon of that generation 94-99 is the best.
@@ExtraGloves240 agreed.
@@ExtraGloves240 Exactly. The 1st gen Neon had style. The 2nd gen is too bloated and boring in my opinion. Over 20+ years ago, my Dad had a '98 Dodge Neon Sport that looked exactly like this one in the video. However, my Dad's was a Coupe.
8 years later, do you still own it?
Over 20 years ago, my Dad had a 1998 model that has the same color, same trim, same hubcaps and same interior with the same awesome seats. However, the only difference is that he had a 2 door coupe.
I got a purple 98 2 door with 97k miles I love the thing so much.
Poor little Neon. It's got such a cute face.
NFS Underground
DOHC =Double overhead camshen engine 😂👌🏼
Its German LOL...
These cars were somewhat quick with a manual trans for a cheap ride.
Somewhat the mf could get up n go I seen one beat a Corvett
I used to have a 5 speed expresso, my first car at 18, and raced it up and down our main drag. I beat a fair share of muscle cars, the trick being to not let the weak front suspension bounce during launch. Also, it had a defining whistle at 120 mph.
Dodge Neons will always look sexy
Vanhualzombie1997 aside from the headlights that look like it got caught by surprise and the paint's clear coat peeling off 😂
wow that thing is in immaculate condition for its age in all
My aunt used to have a 1995 Dodge Neon and my mother used to have a 2003 Dodge Neon.
My aunt had 1995 Plymouth Neon Sport, then we got it. We got rid of it in 2012.
@@computernostalgia6293 My dad used to have the 1998 Plymouth Neon but then got rid of it in 2013 and as well as the 2004 Dodge Neon but then gave it back to a dealership in 2012.
Getting ready to get a 97 aqua Neon highline sedan. VERY SEXY!
i ran one of these in a demo derby thing took quiet the beatting
yeah bro I'm from Brazil and it's chrysler Neon here. I own a 1998 1.8i SOHC
When using sport for Plymouth or dodge neon the car was considered an ACR (American club racer) which was technically the rarest.
Sport for 1995 and 1996 had the same suspension (and some similar options) as the 1998 and 1999 R/T's. ACR's had 'competition' suspension package, which is very different. A 'Sport' for 1997-1999 was below the R/T, but above Highline and Expresso. It is definitely NOT the same as an ACR though. You can only get an ACR with a 5-speed manual, a neon Sport could be automatic, or 5-speed manual.
Muy buen carro
Ha ha... thanks man!
Woah, it looks just like my car O.o
So weird that the back doors have manual windows..
It was normal at the time.
meu pai é louco com esse carro
tenho 1 98 peguei meio surrado mas to levantando ja gastei 7 mil com mecanica.
Is Plymouth Neon and Dodge Neon the same?
And chrysler neon I think that yes.
some things are different i own a 95 Plymouth neon they are all good cars though most of the instrument clusters such as the speedometer or radio are bad i still need to get me a new radio and speedometer :3
Are these cars that bad? I heard some poor reviews about them, and are they prone to catching fire?
The early models had a weak headgasket combined with a drilling defect but most of those have long been replaced by the multi layered steel head gasket. Infact I'd be surprised if any old graphite gasket were on any still driving. They are reliable. I've had one since 98 still my daily driver. They get great gas mileage.
The one thing you must watch out for though is if the timing belt was serviced. Get proof of this or budget into the purchase replacing the timing belt, tensioner pulley or mechanical tensioner (two types used) , and water pump if it can not be proven.
All neons had an interference type engine so if the timing belt breaks pistons and valves meet and that's the end of that engine.
+Cragified thanks. I'm glad to know they are. However they are getting rarer to find in this generation. (94-99).
ur accent soo funny! "Pour Mirrors, Pour Doors lachs" lol nice video tho.
That looks like my car! O.o
They do not offer rear power windows on any trim level.
Steve Pratt some see that as an issue, some see it as weight reduction XD i have a 96 model and it has all 4 crank windows
Noah Linton You want the manual windows. Trust me. I’ve had nothing, but problems with the power windows
What model of radio is? I want to put one of these in my neon
Dude, that's just the factory stereo.
Never heard of that startup
But they would probably look very nice in leather, but keep some of the cloth.
So do most women
is there enough space to fit a body in there?
Connor Martin yes, yes there is.
sport AT ?????
American muscle car ?
abdullah umar no. It’s a compact
4 cyl?
Yes it comes with 4 cylinder. It's lightweight to.
Did anybody notice that there are 2 different kinds of hubcaps from one side to the other?
Mark Vance that's a neon for you, who needs 4 matching hubcaps when you have a car that's paint peels off? 😂😅
@@shagyrodgers4881 Dude, that will happen to any car over time. Besides they are nice cars. Most people didn't maintain them.
@@computernostalgia6293 i haven't maintained mine and i have no hubcaps, chill and let me talk shit on a car i own XD
Noah Linton I had one before, so I know what they are like. They are fun sporty cars!
Noah Linton Now I have another. 1999 Plymouth Neon Expresso with a 5 speed manual
Quanto custa meu sogro tem um verde e quero compra um e manda para o Brasil
AutomotiveReview I live in Ohio too.
Sounds like a lawn mower
King Yien it's because it is
@@shagyrodgers4881 Then find a mower with 150hp.

Engine knocking. Mileage too high. Don't buy it @ 3:06... and it's leaking in two spots toward the end....not good.
+Jake Smackey i think it said 114,000 thats nothing honestly, my jetta has 166,000 and my stepdads Xterra has 180,000 they both one fine.
The ticking sound is the sound of the injectors firing. The knocking you claim is very mild piston slap common for this engine type due to the cast iron block and alloy pistons with short skirts. It goes away once the engine block and pistons have expanded at operating temperature. And the 'leak' is just water condensation dripping from the slip fitting at the A to B pipe.
Don't try to sound smart. Engines fine. Jesus.
Cragified could also be a hydraulic lifter going out, but i can't really tell in all honesty
As someone who owns three of these DOHC neons, I can assure you that the engine is fine. The car was cold, half of that 'knocking' you're calling it goes away when the car reaches normal operating temperature. One of my '98's does this, and it's nearly at 300,000 miles.
The only concern I had with this car was the significant rust on the front pass side strut tower. A typical spot, but that wasn't great.
Very junky cars!
