People really beat the hell out of these cheap cars. They're so underappreciated, great cars if you take care of them right. Definitely better than a Caliber with the crappy rubber band CVT or the highly overpriced Dart.

Bought another very clean neon for $400 from an elderly couple in my neighborhood. They bought a new Honda CRV as a celebration present for their soon retirement. It was garaged it’s whole life!
These cars are great, comfortable and so easy to drive while still having most modern features (cruise control, hazard lights, car charger, ac, heating, and great on gas ) and there only 500$-2000 love this car
I still have my red 95 Highline EXACTLY like this one! I love it still. But the paint is fading. I noticed in this Neon the side door guard is off. Mine came off too, will get it back on one of these days. I would love to have this one too!! I LOVE NEONS!
Very clean neon. Of course, this was filmed in 2010 but still impressive, as the car would have been 15 years old by then, and it seems they were mostly seemed as disposable cars
They made power mirrors but said fuck it for the windows...whos bright idea was that at dodge?? Your going to use the windows alot more than the mirrors. You set the mirrors once and then you never use it again. Oh well at least manual windows never break
The power window option was for front only. The rear were still crank type. Kinda odd but a nice money saving feature considering you use the front much more often.

Man that is a clean little car.At this point in time you could get a Dodge or a Plymouth Neon. Man am I glad I found your channel Kyle, you have given me countless hours of entertainment.I am disabled and this really means alot to someone that has limited ways to enjoy things when you can`t get out alot.Thank you.
Mopar really is a great product. I owned a 97 Stratus, 98 Neon (purple), and test drove a Ram 1500 pickup. ALL GREAT!! You took this video in 2010, and this beautiful red Neon is a 95. The previous owners took amazing care of this fine looking little car. You are in North Carolina, and I am in Minnesota. I say that because, to find cars that old looking that nice here, they were probably hardly ever driven. Winters here are hard on cars.
So do I. They can go up to like 300k miles, they have tons of aftermarket, they're fun, safe, reliable, and good gas mileage and so on, just gotta keep the fluids serviced on time and I will go forever.
The 1995 Neon I rented back then made me fall in love with compact cars. On my way home in my Neon, I saw a new two door Accent. When I returned home, I bought a base model Accent. I liked the frumpy style of the Accent.
In all honesty, I owned a 1996 & never had any real problems with it. I replaced the head gasket at 150,000 kilometers (93,000 miles) and other normal wear and tear dealings you'd find with any car. The paint held up with no pealing or rusting and with proper maintenance the car was great. The only REAL issue I had with the car was the windows scuffing up after multiple roll ups on the driver side, as well as the weather stripping needing replacement. Gave the car to my niece who still drives it
This Neon is in excellent condition, it looks brand new. If I didn't already have my Buick Century I'd probably go looking for a Dodge Neon. I think they're cute cars. We had a 1996 or so in the past and we got it for $1.25 (I shit you not) because the body was not in good shape. The paint was falling off and the front looked like it was driven under a bus but the engine was reliable and it was great on gas. Definitely not a performance or luxury oriented car, but the Neon is great for what it's for.
People really beat the hell out of these cheap cars. They're so underappreciated, great cars if you take care of them right. Definitely better than a Caliber with the crappy rubber band CVT or the highly overpriced Dart.
You've had a few hours and I haven't heard a peep out of you. Whereas I can instantly dig up Chrysler Neon advertisements here on UA-cam from other countries.
I had one. My first car. I absolutely loved it but i had to stop driving it because powertrain had 343 000 km. Today, I drive a 98 Toyota Tercel and its the world biggest piece of shit i ever owned. I'm actually thinking about getting another neon, and put a 2.4 in it. Yes, they are sensitive, but if you take care of them, they will last for ever.
I want one too if I can find one with low mileage and great shape. But in my area they're in bad shape. And swap the tail lights with the European/Asian market tail lights.
My sister bought this same exact car brand new in 1994 and still drives it every day, AND looks like new. Here is a video from today. I drove her car to work today: facebook.com/jett.starr.5/videos/10206764179164619/
I finally got another one, a 2005 neon with 45,000 miles. I wanted to put a 2,4 first gen in it but because of different gen pcm, it might work but it needs a little bit of time. but i'm so glad the neon is back !
My dad said that he whimpered his 95 Neon to the dealership in 2004 to get a new car, and the gas float was floating in the tank, and the RPM/ Speedometer were not working Thank lord he did that
The Plymouth/Dodge Neon benefited from all that Chrysler's designer's learned from designing the LH cars. I own a 1995 Black/Grey Plymouth Neon Sport Coupe with a 5-speed designed at the Kokomo Chrysler Transmission plant and it has all the goodies but not the somewhat troublesome 32-value version of that engine. So this type of engine "delete" option gets you stainless exhaust, a power bulge hood with greater air flow, bigger 4-wheel disk brakes, the 5-speed with an excellent clutch, bigger radiator, 14 inch alloys, and an engine that I have only feed plus gas and Mobil 1 to since birth. It sounds like a fine watch and people in Priuses look agog and I pass them while getting 27 miles/gal on the road and 22 in town. If you can find any Neon in pampered condition that is unmolested, buy buy buy. You won't regret it and you can work on it yourself!! It is a pocket rocket with style!
Get your o2 sensor replaced. I was getting your kind of mileage when I first bought my Neon, got the o2 replaced and now i'm getting 34 combined mpg, better than my mom's Prius!
+Jonathan Altieri I have 99 sport and so far it's been a tough little car and sadly it does have a 3 speed auto in it and on the free way @ 65 the rpm cracks out 2950/2999 rpm. It can climb hills like a champ though. The DOHC does help much more and loves the higher rpm.
I was looking at an option of getting a Chrysler Neon as my first car but ended up with a different car. I appreciate you uploading this video on what this car is like. I always want a manual model when I buy cars and that car is fine with 5 gears as opposed to the 3 speed automatic version (that's what I found out earlier). I now know they're pretty good sturdy cars but it's a shame they're not really popular particularly in Australia but neither was my first car.
I own a 2003 Neon (sold as Chrysler in EU) and it has only 90 k (56,000 mi) on it and i'm really satisfied. In winter it's warm as hell. Of course there are some issues with cheap build quality, especially wirings under the hood are really home-made looking, but you have to keep in mind that the value is only 1/2 compared to Corolla.
1) Spray your toilet with the all-purpose cleaner from top to bottom covering everything from the tank, flusher, hinges, both sides of the lid and seat, rim, exterior bowl and base. Just douse it with product, don’t be shy. Let it sit for a minute to start to break down the dirt. 2) Add the toilet bowl cleaner into the bowl. You’ll notice that toilet bowl cleaners have an angled spout - this is designed specifically to make the application of the product under the rim easier for you. Gently glide the nozzle around the inner rim of the bowl and squirt out the product in a steady, even flow. 3) Begin wiping the toilet bowl clean, literally re-tracing your steps from step 1.Start wiping the tank cover, flusher, tank, change paper towel. Get into the hinges (more on this later), wipe the lid top, flip it up and wipe the lid bottom, change paper towel. Wipe the seat top, flip it up and wipe the seat bottom, change paper towel. Wipe the top of the rim and then get the exterior bowl, sides and base. Get into those little crevices! You can always clean the floor and area behind the toilet with a mop as opposed to doing it by hand, either way, it needs to be done. 4) Take your cleaning toothbrush and spray it with a little bit of all-purpose cleaner. Use it to get into those hinges and brush out any build up (if you haven’t cleaned your hinges in a while, you’ll understand the value of this tip). 5) With your toilet bowl brush in hand, start to scrub under the rim (don’t do it too vigorously or else you’ll get backsplash) and work your way entirely around it (lots of build up lives here). Then, spiral the brush around the inside of the bowl, starting at the top and swirling it around until it gets to the waterline. Continue swirling until you get to the chute and pump the brush in and out of the chute a few times to clean it as well. 6) DONE!! Hold the brush in the toilet and flush. Let the water clean the brush off so you don’t have to. To allow the brush to drip-dry, hold it on the rim and put the seat down. Let the brush sit for a few minutes and then replace it dry into the brush container (if it is wet and it goes back in, you get nasty build up)
I'm getting one on Friday or Saturday...for free. Tip top shape. Can't wait (: It's also gonna be the first ADM after a history of Japanese and Korean cars hehe.
The 1st gen Neons were pretty good cars for their time, but the reason why the Neon is crap is because of the 2nd generation. The 2nd gen Neon had nothing good going for it and it's just another example of early 2000's Chrysler crap.
My aunt bought a new Neon in 98, and still drives it today. Not a problem mechanically, but she has meticulously maintained it, but.. thats usually the key.
I think these are sharp looking little cars. I almost got one, but the check engine light was on and I didn't want to deal with possible problems behind it. I ended up getting a Cavalier which is just kinda "meh" to me.
I just checked with the previous owner of my car, the odometer stopped working @ 186k, and that was 12 years ago. They had the math done up on the mileage and there are over 330k miles on it. This car has been driven a lot.
There was one that got T-boned 2 days ago in Austin, TX by a 3/4 ton club cab Chevy pickup. The passenger died in the Dodge Neon, but the rest of the passengers survived. The truck looked messed up, probably a write off. Was impressed at how strong the Dodge was to save most of the passengers. But I am sure it too was hauled to the junk yard.
I had to comment on your driving skills too. Very careful attention to the details of the road. Good defensive driving skills too, particularly when you started out, and the semi pulled out in front of you. Too many people freak over things like that. By the way, the Ram 1500 I test drove was a 2013. Very nice and smooth for a big truck, and much better handling than the Ford F-150 and Chevy Siverado of the same year I also test drove. Very nice!
Kyle- your videos take much too long to load, which is bad because I love them! My brother got a new x box, and bow the wi fi is crap, so if it is at all possible could you find a a way to make them faster.
I like the custom hole in the P for the shift indicator on this car. It looks like the fuel gauge is broken or the the sender needs to be replaced. While it's true that some of the older cars have some minor problems with the fuel gauge/sender what your really saying as the salesmen is "the car needs gas and or there is a problem with the fuel system but you guys don't want to fix yet." P.s. the car looks like from your video like it's on a flat so your most likely on empty/reserve.
A high-spec 1998 Neon was the first car we ever owned after arriving to Canada (I don't know the trim, but it had alloys & fog lights). I was only mere 5 years old back then, but I still found the shape memorable then. Then the car would start breaking ever now and then (that's what you get for a used Dodge) and eventually replaced with a brand new 2000 Subaru Legacy.
Josh Carpenter I don't know the specifics (like I said I was a grade schooler then), but all I know was the Yellow Check Engine light went on every other week.
I own a 1995 Dodge Neon High line and I'm having trouble with cranking it.There's no gas nor spark getting to my engine so it's causing it not to turn over.Could it be that my fuel cut off switch has been triggered and if so,where can it be located on my car? If there's something else i can try plz give me some feed back to let me know.Thx
i had this exect car..about 3 weeks ago it was snowing bad and there was a reck in front of me and the girl ahead of me slowed down way to much and i didnt see her slow down and i slid into her from 100feet away and totalled my baby.this is the exect car...
gotta get paint redone. the neons were painted with a new environmentally friendly paint, it so hapened that the paint didnt ware well, so paint usually has to get refinished on them
I love how Saabkyle does videos on both really expensive and really cheap cars!!!
I agree!!
Charles Pay me too I like him doing cheap cars
Charles Pay This one is really expensive
I have my 95 still, bought it new in 94. 90K as of today. I STILL love it!!
I rented one way back in 2001 in San Antonio. What a fun little car. Drove it all around the state
do you still have it, and if so how many miles?
A neon in that great of shape are so hard to find.
I bought a 1999 Plymouth Neon Expresso in near mint condition and yeah they are hard to find like this
People really beat the hell out of these cheap cars. They're so underappreciated, great cars if you take care of them right. Definitely better than a Caliber with the crappy rubber band CVT or the highly overpriced Dart.

I've always wanted one when I was a child, I still want one now. It's a good looking car
im trying to see if i can get one for 500 if i can lmao
Rillix's Garage I’m looking for one. My dad had one, but he got rid of it in 2012. I miss the car so much.
Rillix's Garage Found one. It’s a 1999 Plymouth Neon Expresso. Damn I love it. Especially the 5 speed manual
My sister bought her 1995 Neon, just like this one, in 1994 and she still has it. Great little car and fun!!!!
The stickshift version is literally the most fun car I've ever driven, including GTO's and corvettes. It's a very underrated car.
not bad for a 15 year old car. very impressed with the interior condition.

First one I saw was his video on the 2005 srt4, also still subscribed 😊

they are awesome to little kids to drive it.
That they are

chinchy111 my 2002 neon was the same.
Power windows was still kind of a luxury option on a lot of cars back then.
The power window option was for front only. The rear were still crank type. Kinda odd but a nice money saving feature considering you use the front much more often.
Someone de-badged the thing. Missing a ram on the hood, and the 'neon' on the trunklid.
I noticed that too and I find that very weird.
Did you notice the door guards are missing too? Nice Neon regardless
vintagegirl1961 It was an option from the factory.
It was repainted. 1st Gen Neon’s were known for their peeling paint.
Nice little car
Still one of the greatest cars for me to drive.
Awesome job with your videos anyway Kyle.
Loved this video, awesome little car, and in the best shape I've seen in about 6 years lol.
i have a 00 chrysler neon LX in amazing condition! awesome car :D
Neon is really a superb car to drive in twisty roads. If that car had extra 100hp it would whoop todays "new modern gti" crap easily.

I want a 1g neon, but where I live they're getting hard to find.
They sell em for 300-500euros here :D
I feel confident driving mine almost anywhere. Drove it in a rainstorm this morning, and it handled it beautifully

Nice Very Clean Car, I wonder if it still around now in December 2022
@davey3710 How do you know?
A neon not in a scrapyard, truly spectacular
Right. It seemed like damn near all of them disappeared. I was shocked to see 2 running this year. I should have gotten photos.

It's also gonna be the first ADM after a history of Japanese and Korean cars hehe.
Kyle I love this video I daydream that me and my dad had that car
The 1st gen Neons were pretty good cars for their time, but the reason why the Neon is crap is because of the 2nd generation. The 2nd gen Neon had nothing good going for it and it's just another example of early 2000's Chrysler crap.
Both generations performed pretty poorly in offset crash testing conducted by the IIHS. I'd rather walk.
@@hakeemsd70m Yeah, the Dodge Neon was very poor in a crash, but the engine ran nonstop, with basic maintenance.
My 1999 Neon has 120,000 miles and the head gasket went out. I still love the car though
Scott Lantz what about SRT4?
My aunt bought a new Neon in 98, and still drives it today. Not a problem mechanically, but she has meticulously maintained it, but.. thats usually the key.
Who thought the Dodge Neon would come in dayglow florescent colors when you first heard of it?
I bought a neon in this condition yesterday! 1999 Plymouth Neon Expresso with a 5 speed manual! $2200
Damn I overpaid. This one in the video was $2,795 back in 2010.

Is it a 3 speed auto? The rpm's seem high towards the end of the video.
i’d sit and ride in that car all day and never get out.
I think these are sharp looking little cars. I almost got one, but the check engine light was on and I didn't want to deal with possible problems behind it. I ended up getting a Cavalier which is just kinda "meh" to me.
I have this same year car and it is the exact same color, 186000 miles and still running great.
Is it Automatic or Manual?
I just checked with the previous owner of my car, the odometer stopped working @ 186k, and that was 12 years ago. They had the math done up on the mileage and there are over 330k miles on it. This car has been driven a lot.
+Josh Carpenter it is an automatic. It looks just like the one in this video, just a bunch more miles. And the body isn't in as good of shape.
I think it will look better in black
Or blue, or teal, or sunrise orange.
It's a cute car I like it
neat little car. I like this body style. good video.
I live in Austin, I heard about that on the news.
if you look under the rear of the car you can see the over spray from where it was repainted but still in good shape
yes they do, i own a Chrysler Neon bro... look it up on google.
Hi i wondering if u can do a test drive of aixam crossline..
I have that car but it is a 2-door
Holy shit, i cant believe how good it looks on the inside
The Neon is branded as a Chrysler in markets outside North America. It's only called a Dodge or Plymouth in the US and Canada.
2.0L 16 valve 4-cylinder
Ahh memories!!! I had a white one and wen that pooped out. I had a green one. Both cars did really well and I loved them both!!!
How many miles on the Legacy? I been wanting one of them Legacys lately.

Sold over 6 years ago. Around ~180,000kms if I recall.
+Trades46 what were the problems of that neon you used to have? I would love to have one of those gems from 93-99.
Josh Carpenter
I don't know the specifics (like I said I was a grade schooler then), but all I know was the Yellow Check Engine light went on every other week.
+Trades46 that's happened to my old car. It sounds like the car was maintained though.
Love your videos
I own a 1995 Dodge Neon High line and I'm having trouble with cranking it.There's no gas nor spark getting to my engine so it's causing it not to turn over.Could it be that my fuel cut off switch has been triggered and if so,where can it be located on my car? If there's something else i can try plz give me some feed back to let me know.Thx
That's fine. I guess no one likes to debate.
I agree, you just don't see older neons like that in such nice condition.
You're good with the manual windows
My neighbor has one of these. She dogged that thing and a big tree limb fell on it. Still running to this day. Neons are a strong automobile.
true dat
retnin khan yep
yeah
the engine on the 1995-1999 Dodge Neon
Engine

2.0 L 420A I4
OMG mine old neon looked just like that, it was my first car. I miss it :(
So is this better than the new Caliber? I know the Neon was replaced by the Caliber.
Nice video !
How ph has the 1.8 dodge neon 1997 model????
i had this exect car..about 3 weeks ago it was snowing bad and there was a reck in front of me and the girl ahead of me slowed down way to much and i didnt see her slow down and i slid into her from 100feet away and totalled my baby.this is the exect car...
agreed. I love my '99 Neon. Wouldn't trade her for the world :)
gotta get paint redone. the neons were painted with a new environmentally friendly paint, it so hapened that the paint didnt ware well, so paint usually has to get refinished on them
I second this
