I found Henry when I was already a black belt. I quickly realized I knew very, very little about the true essence of jiu jitsu. It had been a long time since I had someone escape my rear naked choke. Henry did it with no hands. He's helped me improve drastically even though I've been training far less and have gotten much older, slower, and weaker. If you get a chance to train with him and pass it up, you are making a bit mistake, IMO.
Question, is the Henry Akins courses download or they only accessible online? I’m interested in the white to blue belt course that he offers, but my internet connection is not always the best with my computer.
@@christophersbyers no never bought it. But I believe he is having a black Friday special on it right now. I believe it is a good investment. Right now I have so many other videos to study, I may not have the time right now. I’m watching the Daisy Fresh white belt curriculum. I am no white belt, but I believe it can be beneficial and it can help me in my teaching journey.
I have personally put Henry in a full RNC and with no hands he escaped twice. Another black belt did the same thing and Henry escaped as well. I was freakin mind blown and dove into learning more about how this was done. It is amazing
Henry "turning into" the crook of the elbow while applying head pressure is absolute genius. A life saver for a terrible position when fully locked up. Thanks guys for the upload!
Once I started following Henry's stuff I found it hard to follow any other practitioner. I just love his philosophy and how it works well even as we get older.
I took a seminar with Henry in Virginia a few years ago. I can confirm that this move really works. He also won a bet by tapping a tough brown belt with nothing but top pressure from scarf hold. 😳
Got to train with Henry for a couple years when I was already a purple belt. Still use his pressure and mount concepts to this day, and get nothing but compliments about how heavy my 180 pound ass feels.
I use several of his escapes that I learned a while ago, he has a run out side control escape that works beautifully. All these years later and I still remember every aspect of it. That’s the sign of an effective teacher
I've been learing every Jiu Jitsu moves and techniques again, by simply watching Henry teaching in video. It improves my Jiu Jitsu a big time. The key is to adopt Henry's concepts and principles, making every move efficient with minumum amount of strength and maximum amount of result. BJJFanatics should definitely sell more Henry's videos. awesome stuff. here's a question from a newish student: when you say you're transferring your weight from your foot to your head, its essentially like the mechanics of doing a bridge? am i on the right track?
For this escape is it always one side escape. choking arm is the right one so you have to go absolutely turn on that side and everything who goes with it? The choking arm lead the leg you escape for the first step of the technique?
I actually think it’s like super important and I think that was really good stuff both of you guys I love you and I think also the Bernardo is such a good guy he’s such a humble just a wonderful person There was just a couple things that I took from it when I actually do this joke a lot of times I’m pulling so hard up on the head and then I go with the opposite hand because they can’t actually do that and if they put their arm out straight they can’t turn because their back bent. Then the other thing was it’s cool that they do that straighten out their arm and then they go belly down and then they go all the way to the back through a hip heist! But one thing you need to remember to is if they are getting out like that always transfer let them turn Pedro always told me if they wanna roll to the back OK make sure your mount them! And the other thing was is they were talking about being in Crossbody and when they trying to push them over to their back it’s really hard but not if you actually transfer that leg up underneath that on the street then you use your leg and their body to push them over it’s not very hard and that’s a lot of times when I work in an arm bar from that position or something. Then another thing too is when they turn you should pull up on the head so that road require them to turn but you can actually put your leg underneath her body and then you would still continue to hold the back and you’ll be on the back still! Put amazing you need to get out of this is when you’re in a bad situation this is a great way to get out of Rear naked back choke! Absolutely good stuff and treasures for sure
Question it looked as if he did not have full hooks in. The choke looked tight, but if he has full hooks in and you completely flatten out I would think he just continues to follow you spinning? Any one have some more insight on this thank you.
When someone is showing an escape to one of the worst positions, best submissions, and the person applying the submission is a world champion that is trying to submit him, you should stop and learn this. Then start watching what that person is doing other places.
that was absolutely a weak , loose choke by bernado haha, no flatterning out and stretching with his hooks and pressing his hips into henry's lower back , not a very strong squeeze with this chest and shoulders on the RNC., passively lettinhg him get out. Still this stuff would work on a less aggressive or less secure RNC
Love how humble Barnardo is, acknowledging his strengths and weaknesses and being open to learning from a master, whilst still being a master himself
Hes incredibly humble, but that's one of the qualities that makes him so good he's always curious and always trying to learn and improve
