A great example of what can be done with some ingenuity, very few tools and hard work - thank you so much for sharing your ideas and techniques - inspirational !
Gracias a ti!!!
This is what i call art. There is a relation between you and the stuff you are making. And it is really obvious in your touch for every tool you held in this video. Thanks and keep going.
Thank you so much! Every set of woodworking instructions I see says, "Take your huge, super expensive power tools and do this and that." It is nice to see videos that show how to achieve great results with hand tools.
Great video, I remember watch my Grandfather woodworking with many of the same tools you were using except the the wood threading tools in the early 50's and he was well into his 80's. Thanks, it sure brings back good memories of him.
Don't make something unless it is both made necessary and useful; but if it is both necessary and useful, don't hesitate to make it beautiful. -Shaker Maxim This philosophy applies very well here. Good idea and presentation.
Unless you have a more Spartan outlook and simply focus on function vs form. In that case, beautification beyond ease of use and comfort in the hand becomes a waste of time. Sorry for the tangent here, but it's like how knife makers take the blade to a mirror polish and the handles down to a 1,200 grit finish with machinist perfect plunge lines, on a knife that's expected to be exposed to the rigours of the out-of-doors no less, and use that as justification for charging $200 or more; when 200 grit on the blade and 180 on the handle would suffice. Really, an oiled 180 grit finish gives a lot better grip than 1,200 grit and 200 grit holds oil better than a micron finish and won't make you paranoid of scratching it like it will if shows your reflection. if one plunge line is 1/32 to 1/16 inch too far forward or back from the other really affect how it cuts or sharpens? You can get a knife that functions just as well as a $200 piece for $70 from Ontario Knife Company or the like. In short, cosmetics are overrated.
It's a great plesure to watch you working....because you do it with care, good taste end...each piece of yours is a piece of art... I'm learning a lot... Thanks...
As I already told you, you don't have to thank me because you deserve all my simple words... as you are an artist. So pls keep on going making your art and giving us the plesure to watch and learn with your vídeos. We do have to thank you...!
I have never even heard of one of these tools, let alone seen one being constructed. I can see how it would be quite handy for certain surfaces. I will have to have a go and make one - thanks for the excellent video showing how to.
I've long been thinking about getting a threading box of several various sizes and this is a really nifty project and handy tool for sanding.. Sanding never really has been one of my favorite past times, but this could help keep it from being absolutely dreaded.
Normally the sanding is not the most attractive part for most of us but I can say that with this saw is a bit more pleasant haha. Thanks for your comment!!
I don't know why I've never seen anything like this ever before...if I have I certainly don't remember...This is absolute beauty! & I agree with others that the music & video quality are superb!
Jason Gardner you've never seen a "sand saw" because it is a nice project and discussion piece that unfortunately is not that useful to a woodworker. My son-in-law built me something similar for Christmas many years ago, put his heart and soul into it so of course I have to keep it on display in the shop and make sure it looks well used when he pops in LOL - But honestly holding a piece of 120 grit 1.5" wide 20" long emery cloth in both hands does a better job, faster, with far more control. If I was into building my own hand tools I'd build this only after I built all the planes and spokeshaves, f-clamps, handscrews, hand crafted tenon saw , more tablesaw and router jigs, another bench, etc that I needed. :-).
I have a feeling this is your opinion sir, & I would like to say, I think it is in the way that one uses it. I have a set of TIOGA frame stands that I stopped using on my freestyle bmx, because they were a brainchild of the industry for freestyle bmx, but the simpler axle pegs were superior, even though they were a simpler design. The frame stands were well made, very strong, i still have them & I will find a good use for them. They are/were definitely not a waste of time, but they did not serve best in their original intent. I do not call them a novelty. It's my perception here that this tool has far more merit! You just have to know when to use the right tool & that is the beauty of what this fella has produced! Definitely not a dust collector novelty. +Mikhandmaker keep up the good work!
I respect all points of view and I appreciate your comments. I personally, in addition to what I have enjoyed making it, I'm going to use it frequently.
Me too ; ) I came across this video and wanted to know what on earth a sandingsaw is. I'm absolutly blown away by the quality and aesthetics of your work and your video. I'm looking foreward to explore the rest of your channel. Have a nice day; you made mine a little bit better.
Beautiful craftsmanship. It's nice to see truly hand crafted projects... Don't get me wrong, I love my power tools. Lol. I wish I had the patience and time to do a project like that.
I love the idea I have some leather up in the cupboard that be perfect for this, will have to wait for the new shelving to be put into the workshop before I can get in there and make one ☺️thanks for such a great idea and sharing with us and beautiful workmanship 🤗
I love watching woodworkers make tools that make tools which make jigs to make other jigs or tools...kinda like putting 2 mirrors face-to-face. Nice work my friend...I subscribed so as to have goals in life !
I love working with wood and I have lots of tools for it (mostly unplugged). But this Sir, this is simply genial. You inspired me to build this nice invention. I'm happy to feel our mutual approach towards wood. The respect. Thx for sharing your knowledge. Subscribed. Regards from Hungary
Mikhandmaker Yes, the same, exact funcion, only my idea was to make it look more like coping saw, for fine details. Your is just as good and I agree, very useful.
I love it when I see someone using a riffler, especially when they're using it correctly. I don't understand why so many of the woodworkers I know disdain rifflers.
A great example of what can be done with some ingenuity, very few tools and hard work - thank you so much for sharing your ideas and techniques - inspirational !
Thanks to you for your support!! :-)
The sounds of the work. The rasps, files, sawing mixed with the music... wow. I've found my meditation. Seriously.
And thank you.
How nice to hear that! Thanks
really lovely music to go with a really great video! Thanks!
Thanks to you Jared!!
A very versatile tool and the soothing music in the background makes for a wonderful video..
Thanks Ian!
Wow. It’s so nice to see the use of hand tools to construct something instead of the easier use of power tools. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks to you for your comment, I really enjoy using hand tools!!
Excellent work!!! I like you to use your hands only. Much sensitive and no fault. Great job
I apreciase your comment Akin, thank you!!

I agree with you!!! Thanks
Thank you so much! Every set of woodworking instructions I see says, "Take your huge, super expensive power tools and do this and that." It is nice to see videos that show how to achieve great results with hand tools.
Thank you very much Felicia, I think that make sth with your own hands is more enriching.
Truly a work of art, sir!
Thank you for your comment David!!
Great video, I remember watch my Grandfather woodworking with many of the same tools you were using except the the wood threading tools in the early 50's and he was well into his 80's. Thanks, it sure brings back good memories of him.
Some of the tools I use nowadays were from my grandfather and this makes me feel happy, thanks for your comment!!
Thank you, keep up the good woodwork!
The fact you made it by hand.... Excellent! Subscribed!
