For those looking for the edit, they were indeed quite hard to find for a while. I was in film school when I made these, and have since then been very busy professionally. But I recently took the time to make some small alterations, mostly in the audio mix, and I am currently uploading them to my DNS-server. @@order42show That's true, a lot of quality material in The Hobbit trilogy. It's just the whole 48fps and color-grading that made it look worse than it could've or at least less realistic. Also, some action went too far as did some effects. Trim down "filler" characters and some other needlessly long scenes of action and what not, and you have a properly good film/films.
It's always funny seeing how different edits hit different people. This wasn't my favorite at all. One thing I'd suggest is to really not watch fanedits with the original film in your mind. Comparison is a demon. Beginner's mind and all that.

My fav version. Most similar to LOTR, 2 big films worth your time. Both epic but a lil more light-hearted.
