A 10 second car for a bargain, Luxury enough for most and all the free updates and tech you expect from tesla so your car never really feels out of date. Love this car.
Ok, considering I'm looking for a performance vehicle that I wanna keep for many years. I have 2 choice, EV or ICE. The problem is, I invest 54k usd on this Tesla. Make some mods because I wanna save weight and I do want ceramic brakes. So I invest about 80-90k in total. Now I consider a slightly used 2018-2019 911 4S PDK with ceramic brakes, that car is no slouch, 1/4 mile 11.5 @ 122 (same trap speed than the model 3, so slower under 100 mph but faster above 130 mph, I call it a tie). That car is about 80-90k used, but it's porsche certified so I should be fine for the next years. But what will happen in 10 years? Well the tesla is likely to be valued maybe 15-18k usd with the battery level at maybe 75-80% if I still live in a mild weather scenario. The porsche is likely to still be above 45k usd, just look for the price of a 2008 997 4s with ceramic brakes. Will I spend about 30k of maintainance, gasoline and porsche premium? Honestly, I don't think so.
@@karlk.6819 Stick with the Porsche. As you watch it sitting on your driveway while obsessing about what the market thinks it's worth, you'll have the comfort of believing that if you're ever completely broke you can liquidate it for more $$ than a Model 3. Plus you'll be able to pay back for all that mainteance you spent on it for the past 10 years, and insurance costs, and have some cash left over to make ends meet for a couple of months until you get back on your feet again. Edit: Disregard. After doing some more math it turns out that by comparison, for 75-80% degradation of a Model 3 battery, your Porsche would had accumulated 250-300K miles at least. And I guarantee you right now, no one will pay you $45K for a Porsche with that many miles on it (and I'm not even considering the meticulous expensive care you'd have to run it under to keep it in one piece at that milage) so you better be planning on that emergency fund right now for when you need to get back on your feet. I hope this helps. Edit Edit: Listen to this - assuming your unicorn 250K+miles Porsche is @ 30 mpg, those 250K miles are 8,333 gallons. Let's say you're cheap and also live on a state where 88 octane gas is $3 per gallon, that's about $25K on fuel alone, where an M3 is at least 3X as efficient. Do you get the point now or should I continue? Because I'm just getting started.
@@karlk.6819 Let's look at that Porsche while comparing it to a 75-80% battery degraded Model 3: The Porsche would have between 300-350K miles on the odometer by then. This will give you the best results. using this method people have ran 10.75s @ 125mph. Great content, I finally subscribed, keep it up.
@@Intervention302 I think you misunderstood me. What I said has nothing to do with weather. For all EV, better battery performance mean better power for top SPEED. It wont affect so much the torque because torque depend on motor current limit and not battery current. That's why you can still get full torque at 5% SOC at low speed because rpm is not high enough to require full power yet. So a good warm battery will improve how long your torque can keep up during the acceleration. ( for exemple, double the speed for the same torque = double power. Resumé: The better the battery performance the better your full torque will be present at higher speed during acceleration. 😉 That's also why the 0-60ft is not affected by battery SOC... you can still get the same 60ft with a 100% battery than a 5% battery because the 60ft speeed is not high enough to require high kW to your battery because you are at low speed.

Also the Plaid has three motors so there are more motors pulling energy from the pack; the M3P only has two (new design) motors, if I remember correctly.
Teslas are like the quiet guy whose opinion actually matters whilst the loud mouth ICE vehicle is spouting off about how great he is and shouting everyone down. Love a snarly motor too but they used to represent speed.. not so much these days

Awesome! Was this somehow under 50K out the door in red?
For the first week yes, back on 4/23
Now only gray applies
@@Intervention302 Thanks! You're going to upset some Mustangs with that thing.
How you liking that color
Need to wash it soon, but I love it
The 2x 11 runs were the only runs in the left lane.
Didn't actually consider that.
Left lane at this dragway, I've always hated. Hard to hook up.
It's like ice in my Cobra
@@Intervention302 Could be something, could be nothing. Unfortunately you'll have to go back to the track and do some more testing!
Great video. I love when evs beat the icers.
Oh yeah? Well if it was a 300+ mile drag race with no charging stations and only fuel stations then who would win?
@@shanecornell - Do you understand how ridiculous your comment is?
Why not a drag race to the moon?
@@Davran2742 whoosh^

How did you get red for 48k?
Opening day the MSRP was 52990 allowing the $2000 red to qualify for the rebate.
MSRP now is 54990
@@Intervention302 dammit
that Foxbody ran an 8 😮
You sure about that?!?
When you say sport mode, did you mean Insane?
No...
Acceleration is Insane. Options are chill, normal, and insane
Ride and handling is Sport. Your choice is Comfort and Sport.
Two different settings under vehicle dynamics
Considering I'm looking for a performance vehicle that I wanna keep for many years.
Turning the camera on to see behind you is smart 😭😭
Got to use what Elon gave us to use :)
Interesting this new m3p seems to only use about 1% per 1/4mile pass, whereas a plaid uses close to 2% battery soc per pass. 👍🏻
Bear in mind... 500 Vs 1000hp though. So makes sense.
Plaids battery also has around ~20% more capacity
Plaids typically use 3% SOC on each 1/4 mile run consistently.
Also the Plaid has three motors so there are more motors pulling energy from the pack; the M3P only has two (new design) motors, if I remember correctly.
Sport mode or insane mode
All runs in insane but one.
Traction and suspension in sport.
No Insane mode was run? Also I want to see it against BMW M3
Every run but one was done in insane.
why sport mode run insane
Did you kick it in insane mode?
All runs in insane mode, minus the chill mode run
@@Intervention302You mentioned sport mode though in the videos. Were you talking about the suspension?
So is he confusing sport mode and insane mode?
Longer video describes it more.
8 runs were in insane. 1 in Chill.
All runs done in sport mode for suspension and handling
Fun stuff!
Beat the truck by way more than a femder 😂
Like to see the Canadian version vs the American version. Apparently Canadian version has less power
Quite a bit less actually.
@@Intervention302 really disappointed about that.
*i think this car can go much faster if you have 18” rims and the driver is light weight like 150 pounds*
I look fatter in the photo/video than I really am... I'm 192lbs
Teslas are like the quiet guy whose opinion actually matters whilst the loud mouth ICE vehicle is spouting off about how great he is and shouting everyone down. Love a snarly motor too but they used to represent speed.. not so much these days
Nice! ⚡️🇺🇲
🤙
Same times as the Tesla Cyberbeast.
I have the same model 3, but drag racing in an electric car is a bit boring, almost no challenges and basically everyone can hit very close to the same time. every time.
I agree, it can be boring. Although, winning isn't necessarily boring :)
But I get your point. I wanted to go to get helpful data for the community
@@Intervention302
If you have fun then just do it, it was nothing personal against you and you like to race it.
The problem with electric cars is that the day everyone only races electric cars , the race will almost stop, you might as well just look at a piece of paper how fast the opponent is :)
Go drake maye!
I'm pretty pumped man
@Intervention302 patriots Nation for life bro! We'd totally jam. P365Xl too. That was a great video you did.
Slower in track mode 🤯
Takes new model 3 performance to track, let's just use chill mode and sport...... not insane. Makes sense.
Literally every run but one was insane.
Sport was suspension and traction control.
pls race a Bmw m5 or m8 🙏
2021 BMW M5: This model has a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V-8 engine with 600 horsepower and 553 pound-feet of torque. It can complete a quarter-mile in 10.9 seconds at 129 mph
Says Google.
So looks like almost exactly equal to the Tesla M3P. But the BMW would definitely pull up top.
Tesla does ok for 48k Vs 120k
@@Intervention302 100%, I just want to see a race between the two. Since the M5 has always been my dream car, but I just ordered a M3P last month. So i want to see how it holds up

you're in insane mode not sport mode. Your handling is in sport mode, IDK why you keep repeating that through your video tbh
Sport mode impacts traction control it's important.
Thats 11. zero 38. O is not a number it the alphabet.
Reaction time has nothing to do with the run.
All this for $56k before a potential $7500 tax incentive and people have nothing better to do but hate on it. Like you don’t need to be insecure, for $56k you can get one yourself 😂
