- Did you ever ask yourself on how to successfully raise your Pink Toe Tarantula spiderlings from baby to adulthood? Then watch this video and get the info from our team on how to perfectly raise every Pink Toe Tarantula spiderling or any other arboreal spiderling from the Aviculariinae subfamily with this method. It is as simply as it looks in the video - get your stuff together and feel free to try it out if you've already had some losses with tiny little Pink Toe Tarantula baby spiderlings - just like we all did in the beginning. Avicularia and other genera, like Caribena, Ybyrapora, Antillena, Pachistopelma and Typhochlaena - they all need special care when raising them from spiderlings to adulthood. Special needs require special tactics - these are the ones you'll learn in this video.

pink toe - Домашні улюбленці та дикі тварини
I have been researching owning and taking care of a pink toe. I have wanted a spider since my early 20’s. I can’t believe I am only just acting on it at 55. Mainly, well, only, due to my sister saying she would never visit if I had one…… Oh man, I’ll miss her! I was nervous about keeping the humidity at a healthy level along with preventing mould to grow on the soil. Your suggestion of using clay is perfect. I feel more confident. So thank you. Regards Deborah, UK
sounds great Deborah, wish you lot of success - with this method it's quite easy and safe :)
Dude ur method is genius, I’ve only used clay for my plants to prevent water draining them but never thought to use this as substrate!
Was my first Spider back in 2002.. breeded her...had 212 slings after that...it was the beginning of a long journey with over 50 different species...
your videos are awesome dude, its like im in a collage learning without the boring parts!
thanks Jordan! sounds like the college I wanna go to :D
@@birdspiders haha i look forward to our next lesson! :D
Excellent idea. I also use the deli cups which have a domed lid, so if the sling webs up on top, you can still open the cup with less likelihood of disturbing it's webbing.
Very great information. I have 4 Avicularia species and I adore them very much. Great video my friend
much appreciated! Hope they grow fast and stay healthy :)
Great video once again. So much info!
yeah, can be a little overwhelming sometimes :) Thanks!
Thank you for the interesting video.
as always!, Awesome vid!
cheers mate!
Would love to see a care vid on Theraphosa:)
Excellent. TY
Thank you so much for share 🙏🏻
Thank you. I don't think we have seramis in the US. I'll have to look for a substitute.
Is there an equal alternative for seramis as a substrate?
So about what % humidity does it reach when using that clay?
In my part of the country the air is pretty humid so I am not keeping it very moist with my C. versicolor. Just overflow the water dish a bit now and then.
The first one I had died and that I kept quite moist, cause that is what many websites STILL says. Unfortunately I was new to the hobby then and just took that advice.
honestly, no idea about the values. I usually wet the clay until it's a darker color, then wait until it dries out completely again.
Loved it. Thanks for the video.
cheers!
Good Vid! Def one of the trickier species to raise.
Psalmos tend to be easier. Found adults avics ok with just a big water dish but I did moisten occasionally.
Sadly have none left now as all gone onto breed! (Do have some psalmos growing on). Only T's I give a good soaking are Asian and my Stirmi.
Awesome information bud.
Thank you!!
So what product in the USA us recomended as a clay type substrate to do the same thing?
Thx for such an interesting video. I'm a newbie about arboreal spieces. Using Seramis for my versicolor slings but experiencing some stability problems about woods inside plastic enclosures. Not able to stabilize it. Tried also to bury it by Seramis grains :no great results. Any solution different from glue? Thx
Good advice thanks!
cheers Andrzej!
Do you recommend a specific enclosure???
Good advice. I just got slings of Avicularia minatrix, Ybyrapora sooretama and diversipes. I made more holes for ventilation than your jars. Is that wrong? Furthermore, instead of Seramis, can i also use sphagnum moss? Thanks 😊
This is a great idea!! Thank you!! How do you feed your grown spiders? Mine won't hunt or come down to look for her own food. She only eats when I get lucky enough to get a crib ket or worm stuck in her web, which doesn't happen often. Usually they get themselves free and then they die later on the bottom of her enclosure.
Could vermiculite work if seramis isn't available?
nice tips
How often do you feed slings? Great video thanks
Avicularia are my favorite I mist at least once a week depending on size . ive been using vermiculite with a few springtails just incase of mold because i live in a damp climate. Although ive never seen vermiculite mold i still worrie. So far they have done very well but its difficult for me to tell when its to wet. Ill try the clay thank you for the info. You have great videos. It would be fascinating to know the humidity levels at different heights in the wild. I dont know if you could take readings when your their but it would be very cool if you did.
Thanks a lot Sherry for your indepth comment :) We usually take readings, they just not always find their way into the videos. Will make sure that it will be more present in future videos
My north Guyana blue pink toe is weak. I have her in an icu but no change. .75 inch baby.
She was fine one day and the next she wasn’t.
What can I do to help her?
Wie machst du die Löcher in die Becher? Oder kaufst du die so? Falls ja, wo?
Can u do more of these kind of care vids, next care vid on Grammastoa
sure thing! More are in the making, will sort out on what to focus first. Grammostola is noted 👍
Excellent video
Thank you!! :)
I have 3, I use top vent but they are always up top anyway. and i have a metal mesh screen, they never walk on it. my spiders well behaved
Great vídeo. Always learning...i will search for that substrate and give it a try :D
it's worth a try for sure :)
Good tips!
cheers mate!
Wie fütterst/mit was fütterst du die kleinen, und zerstörst du nicht immer ihr Gespinst beim öffnen?
Man, great video! :) Can you make a video of sling care guide (1 to 1.5 centimeters in size)?
Do you think expanded clay balls/hydroton will work the same as seramis? Thanks!
I had not the same results as with this fine clay like structure. But it can work of course, try it and closely observe
@@birdspiders // Thanks! I’ll keep an eye out for this or a similar substance at my local gardening and hardware stores. :)
Good education vid for slings.:)
Thank you Bonnie, much appreciated
nice! do you know about using pine bark in enclosure? it looks cool and easy to obtain here(no corkbark in here). but i have heard some bad rumors about them.
you have to be careful with pine bark, because of the oil
All my Avicularias have tons of sticks and leaves and so forth in their enclosures
Wicked Tarantulas perfect! thats how you can certainly fancy up the enclosures :) nice!
@@birdspiders awesome video mate :)
It’s Thursday’s for me right now
it was a little early indeed :)
More of this bro ... i need more caresheet especially for the uncommon sp
ok, working on it :)
How are your avics so calm when transferring? Even my Brachypelmas go insane when being transferred.
that's my energy ;) they feel that I'm calm and precise - so are they. lol.
My avic is pretty calm for me as well.
What type of plants do you use? Are they in potting soil or hydroponic? I know a lot of info on the web frowns against using live plants. Sounds like you have a bad head cold. Feel better!
yeah quite a bad one actually, thanks Meg! Feeling better now :)
Danke fur das informative Video. Geht auch Vermiculite?
vielleicht :) ausprobieren und berichten 👍
Hi 🙂 may I have the size of those containers? Are they 4 oz? 8 oz? Thank you for educating us.
hey Margaret! we don' use oz here as a measurement, but they are a little bigger than 4 oz (almost 5) if I calculated correctly
I ordered a pink toe that’s arriving today, I’m setting it up in a temporary enclosure of a 2 gallon tub with a locking lid to monitor it and monitor it’s eating for a few weeks, it has basic wood substrate that it can burrow in and it’s hide is coming in tomorrow, I’m adding plants to it right now. Does that sound good?
that sounds great Kara! sorry for not getting back to you quicker
@@birdspiders it’s fine!! I’m now on my 3rd T tho 😂😂
Being on "Team Naturalistic Enclosures" i applaud you 😄 Interesting idea! Thanks for the usefull video. Have a great weekend!
Cheers Michiel, nice weekend to you aswell!
I had a gift from a friend a avi pink toe tarantula. Its a tiny lovely sling. My first tarantula. Very helpful video. Whats the best to feed a baby? I was given wax worms but i want to be sure he can take it
small enough prey items, small crickets or roaches or the mentioned wax worms :) just try out, one at a time. enjoy!
Did you tell us where to find the clay in the US?
April Rain you maybe able to get hydroton or geolite and crush it a bit. I pretty sure it's just leca beads www.homedepot.com/p/Viagrow-10-l-Medium-Viastone-Hydroponic-Gardening-Grow-Rock-2-Pack-VS10-2/303198817
Lol so you just replace the coco with leca pebbles. And only corkbark?
why does everyone use cork bark?
i've never seen it mold - and it's readily available here in Europe
Your glass enclosures are amazing and I would like to build similar enclosures. Where do you get your metal ventilation screens? The only thing I can find is the thin screens that my spider can get its feet caught in.
cheers Shawn! They are done by a lot of companies here, nothing I've built myself.... which country are you from?
@@birdspiders I live in the US and it looks like I'm going to build my own. Most of the enclosures here are acrylic and warp or glass with black frames.

@@birdspiders that is perfect, thanks! I'm going to keep my eye out for some venting that the spiders can't get their toe claws caught in but amazing how to video
No arboreals for me, thank you. Interesting video though. Thank you.
Thank you for the facts my pink toes oh growing healthy and happy 😊 is a female I call her cruella 😇
cheers to cruella👍👌
@@birdspiders thank you 🙌
What is the species you put in the container at 7:09? Great video by the way.
Same as the one before :P I. hirsutum
Iridopelma hirsutum - good eyes though ;)
How are they doing man?
they are doing good :)
I have a tarantula challenge for you. Check out my video Tarantula Whisperer. I've been doing this with my t's for a long time. Are you a tarantula whisperer?
Arachnoboards reaction to this video was pretty asinine. Anyone who follows this guide will have great success keeping any of the Avicularia genus.
Thanks Jacob! Have not seen the discussion on AB, would be interested in a link. cheers
