    I came to listen to the pedals, but ended up listing to the music. Bravo!

    Thank you so much for doing this! To me the Boss IR sounds more open and less processed. I hoped for Line6 because its a great all in one solution but now I may go for Boss instead 🙏

      They are both very cool units and it comes down to what's best for your situation and what sounds best to your ears. Thanks for watching!

    The thing I like about the Line 6 is it is its own rig in a pinch, the Boss has a lot more amp flexibility but no effects.

      While not perfect, the Line 6 has been my go to for quick and easy guitar tones since I got it. If I need delay, or modulation or drive...it's all there. It's tough to beat as an all in one. My curiosity is how do the pure amp tones stack up.

    great comparison, love it! .. like them both, sometimes i find the Pod Xpress hard to dial in since for master and presence you need to press 2 buttons and dial a third one ..if the 4 outer pots would be pushpots the whole thing would be easier! be careful not to drop your axe when dialing in the Pod! Cheers from Germany🤘

      Yeah the whole play twister with the pedal to try and access features is a little tricky. Boss has some of that turn this twist this stuff as well. I’ll try and not drop the axe next time! Thanks for watching!

    The Line6 seemed to have a top end roll off on the cleaner tones that really made it seem muddy by comparison. I did think the heavier tones were better on the Line6, though. If I had to choose, it would be pretty hard not to get the Boss just for the overall quality of sound. If the highs were too bright, that's an easier fix than trying to add highs back in. I'm also not a big metal player either so those cleaner and bluesier tones are more my style. On the other hand, if I had no money to spend, the Line6 would be pretty hard to turn down because of all of the built in effects. Plus, the 'ambience' on the Boss really doesn't do it whereas the Line6 has some really decent reverbs if you're into that.

      Yeah it's a tough decision either way you slice but they are both solid units.

    With Pod Express you get many more functions (tuner, effects) but listening to your recordings IR-2 sounds much better! And Send/Return connections are also a big plus for Boss

      It really does come down to what your ears like. Everybody hears differently and there is no wrong answer. The Boss is a great unit!

    I see a little footy curled up to hear this demo! The POD Princeton sounds pretty good to me and that's probably my main concern as can add gain and OD. But I'd like to compare the Fender sims on the BOSS rather than the flat Clean. I prefer BOSS Crunch here but I know POD can get a closer Crunch tone to my tastes with tweaking. I'll rarely use any higher gain amps on either pedal. Still leaning to POD as amps are good enough and suits my use case well. But if I had the cash I'd get both, use the IR-2 for amps and turn the POD amps off and just use the OD and FX, looper etc. Now that would be a fun demo!

    • @badbrad
      @badbrad  Місяць тому +2

      That would be a killer rig. I think your right tho the Pod Express would have everything all in one plus the tuner…I seem to always go back to the Pod even tho the clean tones could be better….

    Both sound great. But I think I prefer the Boss hearing them in comparison. Have you tried them with headphones Brad? any preference in that regard. Cheers!

    • @badbrad
      @badbrad  Місяць тому +2

      I have not. I've been working a lot without headphones lately. I think the boss could sound even better on the heavier stuff with some different Ir's.

  • @Scott__C

    Thanks for that. The Line6 was a little fizzy on the Crunch. I think overall, I liked the Boss tones better, but If Line 6 had a 3 or 4 button extra footswitch to add on to get directly to some of the presets, that would be killer. As I understand it (and may be wrong), you have to scroll through with one button in order, correct?

    • @badbrad
      @badbrad  Місяць тому +1

      You can use an external foot switch with the Pod. I have yet to try it but the option is there.

    As I think is typical, the one that does more doesn't sound as good (to me); I think the Boss had way better tones, but the Line6 would be more useful in a pinch with all the features....?

    I bought the Pod Express few weeks ago just for fun. It is a nice overall pedal. However, I am usually playing real amps and the Tonex and even the Tonex is so much better in my opinion (if you have the right preset). I literally have not played the Pod Express longer than 10 minutes at a time. When I start with the POD, I think wow that sounds good. Then when I move over to the Tonex it's a revelation... But still, considering all the things it can do, and it does sound good, it's a cool pedal.

    • @badbrad
      @badbrad  Місяць тому

      Yeah for pure amp tone ToneX is tough to beat but I did have trouble with getting the gate dialed in to where it wasn't glitchy. I feel like if I could figure that out, I would go back. I still have my ToneX and I'm waiting on a ToneX One.
