Spud Amps.. now there's an idea Ned...
Televisions don't work like that.
@@SfordRog No shit Sherlock?....
Thats exactly what he did here…
It really sounds amazing. Also because of the guitar BUT mostly because of the guitarist. Always love to hear Peter playing.
I bought one and this is a rare product that gives you both quality and usefulness for a fair price.
Yeah , very good..but have you ever played in a live band with a valve driven stack and no pedals . What many claim is a good bit of gear are clueless
@@jockster5525 not everyone can afford a valve driven stack you absolute helmet.
@jockster5525
I play bass and my Eden amp did everything I needed.
There's plenty of people who have played through a broad range, too.
I have 6 valve amps and a Helix and know there are lots of great products out there.
@jockster5525
Excellent review guys. Love the interaction of two of you and the pedal is definitely worth the price! Thanks!
Full battery rig at the end made it soo much better!
Love this pedal - takes all my overdrives really well also
Love Pete's good mood today!
23:48 I always melt when Pete plays the "Purple Rain" intro ☺
Love it! They both sound great. Already have and love a Helix but yeah.
This is an amazing rig in a box. I’d keep one in my gig bag just in case my amp has a tube go out. Such a cool piece of kit.
great vid guys, loving the rocking racoon, on your phone cap nice one.
Thanks for the chord shape on "Purple Rain" Pete!
That was the best looper demonstration. I’ve seen so far you guys are great and that was funny at the end. Oh my goodness.
Subbed. I have one, and I just learned some stuff I didn't know, so many thanks!❤
Great value.
I wish their other units would get a visual indicator of the loop length like this.
That loop should be official Line6 ad!
Been subscribed for years and years.
The Helix has had so many updates it still holds its own.
This product is absolutely brilliant. If I didn't already have an HX Stomp and Mustang Micro, I would be all over this!
I've got an LT and a PodGO, and I still might have to grab one (of each) of these eventually. lol
It is nice to have the small package. But you can still get an hd500x which is almost a helix and processes vocals for cheaper on reverb.
@@Roger-il8iw the cheapest HD500x I can find right now on Reverb would cost $230 after shipping (there is a local pickup one for $180, but it's nowhere near me). I just picked up one of these for $152 (plus tax). Still not a bad idea looking for a used HD500x, but it still will probably cost more than this, especially when used ones start showing up (bet you can eventually grab a used one of these for around $100 in a year or so).
@@RyanWrightI have an LT and a Catalyst. I can use either alone or use them together
I bought it a month ago and I think it is one of the best purchases I made in my life. It could cost more and it would be just as good. Very easy to use and incredible sound, for use in stereo. It just needs to have had a compressor.
That's a really cool bit of kit!
If you keep saying that phrase "a bit of kit" someone is going to beat you up just for the fun of it.
@@stoneysdead689 😂
Ive been waiting for you guys to do this. Even though I already have one LOL Great video.
Can you please explain this to me- I've noticed that any review you watch, within reason, about half the viewers already own it. Why would you watch a review of an item you already have? The only thing I can come up with- ppl like to have their choices validated, which explains why so many get so angry if you give it a bad review.
@stoneysdead689 Taking a big dump all over the comments section today are we
@@stoneysdead689 did someone hurt you? the hate you must carry around is very unhealthy. seek help.
@@kevone-eo6pq LOL- You ppl are hilariously pathetic and needy. Never mind- I'll ask an adult who doesn't get offended and have a tantrum simply because someone wonders why they do something as odd as watching reviews on gear they already own. Apparently, you guys are too sensitive about it to just answer the question.
Looks like the next purchase I’ll have to explain to my wife that was just so essential. Lol.
Great demo guys. Salute.
May have to sell something else. Keeps the clutter down too
I would love to see a comparison between this and the M-VAVE Tank-G, the battle of affordable modelers.
Anyway, I haven’t really found a modeler/profiler that would replace my tube amps.
Thanks for your hard work guys/gals, keep on rockin’! 🎩🤘
My very first multi-effects pedal was a line 6 floor pod. It was horrible through my amp. But it was awesome through the PA system. So I'm excited to get one of these now
Nice vid. I also dig the Ellis Killa neck pup! I've been thinking about that one, or a P90 Ellisonic.
Love the philosophy behind it. You'd think the boss ir would be simple and this complex, but this is meant to be simple while the boss is more complex with custom ir's. So nice you can just set it and jam. The looper is really nice. Sound is great imo, esp through the orange amp at the end.
I need to get a 64-24 Anderton's shirt! My 60th is this year as well. Great year, '64! Dig you two - keep up the great work!
Same here
I turn 60 in a couple of months too. 64 was a great year.
I bought one for home practice and as a recording device. It's brilliant. Side note...I sprayed the casing black. Much more pleasing to the eye.
...and voided the warranty in the process! But you know- as long as it's "pleasing to the eye".
I'm waiting for mine and plan to do the same thing.
@@Rick5150 have a day off.
At 2:17 Lee's candid "no" in response to Pete's question had me belly laughing.
Which would you rather have, this or the valeton GP-200?
Sounds great through the Blackstar HT-1R MKII I just bought from Andertons. Makes a very versatile home rig
Great product. I picked up the bass version for my GF and she loves it.
Shocking how much more it costs in the UK, it’s almost $70 cheaper here in the US, more than 30% less.
That might explain why its so expensive, given the competition in this space. At £70 - £120, it'd make sense but tough to see the attraction at this price over something from Mooer or Joyo or similar.
I still think Line 6 should have had this for a lower price around $130 in the US,it may sound good but the plastic enclosure is made too cheap and i am not sure how it will hold up over time?Even cheap china pedals have metal enclosures!
Got one, first really cool look, completely user friendly. Travel toy, bedtime earphone toy.Sounds like a $179 multi effects unit.Use a clean amp.Its fun affordable and are. Ez to use.
Great to have in case your amp blows up live
Micing room/speakers gives this POD Express an slightly boxy sound that's not there when going direct/headphones. Some people might misjudge the unit's capability for their use case. Otherwise I love your thorough demo, and Pete's playing always.
If you get this get the Boss IR2 to go with it!! If you think the tones on either are good wait until you merry them together!!
I think you need to redo the amp model demo section, because I think you had accidentally left on the boost (klon) throughout all the amp models - Pete even says around 14 minutes that they all have this underlying sound that’s the same…which means Pete’s ears and brain are incredible! but yeah, the underlying tone he’s hearing is the sound of the boost pedal across all amps. Afterwards, you can see the boost level rolling off when you start the pedals section of the video ❤✌️
Digital is way way way better than is was 20 years ago I finally gave it a try again and yes it’s really good
Why did the Hx stomp price jump from £500 to £700?
Is this a temporary supply issue? Is it related to cargo ships not getting through the zuez canal because of the houthi blockade? Or is this a permanent increase in cost?
100% worth hearing the effects with headphones
Very much in keeping with the original Pod.
I’m a huge fan of the older pods. The x3 live and hd500x are still amazing in 2024. Hd500x is literally only slightly worse than a helix.
I think those old units will be worth a lot of money one day.
@@Roger-il8iwdream on!😂 I had the HD500 and no comparison.
@@kenthhamner2641 many blind tests have been done the hd500x far surpasses this unit. It was also the predecessor to the helix. It does most of the same sounds as helix for 15% of the price.
The hd500x was used by numerous pro musicians on tours.
The stereo deleay is mind blowing on good stereo speakers. If you're listening on a phone or something, try it again on some good stereo speakers ;-)
I heard Angus Young will be using two of them in stereo on their upcoming tour of Europe. ⚡️🔥
I think during the demo it went up massively in Lee’s estimations.. He started the clip with “its actually better than I thought” 30mins of listening Pete demo it he ends with “it sounds fantastic, it’s amazing” 😂. Also, just watched the clip on east coast guitars Lee did and improving starter guitars. A new starter could have an east coast guitar and pod express and they’re off to a flyer…
Not really- you're forgetting an item that costs around 400 bucks or so- a powered cab so you can hear yourself without using headphones. Headphones are great- until you want to play with others or just want other ppl to be able to hear your playing. I was shocked when I bought a modeler and then realized- that's only half the cost- a powered cab costs as much or more than the modeler.
@stoneysdead689 the new starter could start initially with just headphones at home and this pedal giving lots of tonal options (probably better if they do😅) but naturally as they progress and want to start playing with others they would need better gear. Modeller amps like the katana are another option but significantly more expensive than this pedal. Many give up early do not spending too much early on is wise
@@stevedarby1099 By the time I bought a modeler I had been playing for over 30 years- I was pretty sure it would work out.
@stoneysdead689 yes this was probably aimed at the new starter now. Like you I bought my first modeller only 3 years ago. I started the old fashioned way with amps and terrible cheap copy guitars back in the early 80s
@@stevedarby1099 Me too- my first guitar was a Harmony LP knockoff, and my first amp was literally a speaker with a volume knob- costed 30 bucks. It's amazing what you can get now.
Anyone try throwing a boost on the front of it? will it stack well at all? I see that I can do a crunchy/distorted amp then add a DIST effect from that set, but I would also love to just add oomph whenever from a Revv Tilt Boost for instance.
Maybe the similar sound is coming from the tele twang. Next time try a fender squire or epiphone les paul. Those 2 guitars cover pretty much most players sound types without going overboard in costs and hot rodded pickups
Is it possible to use multiple effects on the same dial, For example, if I wanted to use chorus & tremolo.
The middle button knob with the illuminating just reminds me of the darts board either the prize board or the questions board, from Bullseye here in the UK.

Vauxhall Nova
@@andertons normally was a speedboat for someone for someone who lived in a block of flats.
I bought a POD 2.0 not long ago - I was a bit young for it when it came out but i actually really rate it!
I usually play through amps so this kind of thing isnt really my area of expertise but i use it into a TC Impulse and think it sounds pretty good. I particularly like that the knobs are just there and easy to use.
I think this new pedal is quite in that vein and p'rolly worth a look. Thanks guys.
What kind of gig were you at.
I bought Mooer S1 instead. It's quite similar in a way, but it seems that little Pod got better sound.
If you've already got a modeler or something comparable, there's nothing to get excited about here really. If you don't- then this could definitely be an affordable way to check it out. That said- the NUX stuff is just as good, and just as affordable- imo.
Treasure you say was a nice John Mayer London gig easter egg!
Can I plug it in directly into my audio interface? Do you guys recommend doing that or should I have something in between? And are there any other pedals that I could do that with cause GB simulated amps are the worst.
Bit late on this one bought mine a month ago from gear for music i usually would purchase from you
That's proper value for money. Epic goofery from you two to boot.
This is something I could use instead of miking my guitars and routing it to my DAW...this is my next purchase
Pete is on one today and it looks like the Capn' ain't having it 😅
I've been enjoying the heck out the ir200, but it's another couple hundred for modulation pedal. I have to use garageband, and their phaser is garbage, and getting some of those patches through the Mac security is a pain. I can't speak for the pod, but if it's anything like the ir200 sound wise, it seems like steal.
What's the riff from at 25:50? Sounds super familiar
It's kind of like a mini pedal board. With amp choices.
Regarding the Katana:Go, it’s worth remembering that the Go features Bluetooth audio streaming whereas the Pod Express does not, and you need to plug it into a device with a. USB cable in order to play along with backing tracks or your videos etc.
Not only plug it into USB-C, you have to plug it in through a camera adapter (in the case of iPhone) to play backing tracks through it.
Just ready to buy that DPT in Flint Blue. Where's the affordable one to buy? Can't find it anywhere.
www.andertons.co.uk/search?search=chapman%20dpt More coming soon.
If your using Windows 11 & Line6: Check first that they've actually have made (ASIO) drivers for your device, that has support for Core Isolation Memory Integrity. Still waiting one for my old Toneport UX2... ...and waiting... ...and waiting... ...and waiting. (And yes, you can turn it off, but getting it back on can be kinda tricky.)
I have a nux Headphone amp and soemtimes i Plug IT into my Bluetooth speaker... Wotks fine
I need to know what that 7-segment display is indicating. I haven't sleep well for so long
In the back right? It's a decibel readout.
Over UA-cam it sounds a bit wierd on the overdriven settings, specifically it loses all the low end straight into the interface, and for some reason the IR's and cab sims aren't doing their job to include those lows.
Great for AC/DC people.
I would have picked this up if I wasn’t already leaning towards the Katana Go!
I have a pod go and only used it a few times because there's just too much to choose from. I think I'd rather just have this
that volume dial is the same as what used to be on Transistor Radios...
line 6 need to make a desktop amp based on this
$4 for a roll of painters tape and a rattle can of black paint! Voila!! Excuse if I didn't catch it, but I wonder if you could plug that into the "in" side of your amps "effects loop", turn its pre-amp side (12AX7) off, and use the pod+effects as a preamp for your main guitar amp rig.?? You could leave the pedal board home, toss this in the back of the amp and go!! 8) --gary
Hey guys, the 70's called and want their rug back....😁
First time i heard you mention Traynor amplifiers
This stuff all seems to be aiming towards what I think I might want in the future, which is an amp sim with an onboard effects loop, xlr out, and like 3 or 4 easily switchable patches. So basically this, but get rid of the effects, put XLR out on it, and give me an effects loop.
DSM Simplifier.
So, a Fractal FM3?
@@robinr22 I don't know how I missed that product, but yeah that thing is almost perfect.
Pod express OR Boss IR2 ?
Way to bring up the very tense Summers/Sting feud over who should be paid royalties 😂
We need a Danish Pete delay pedal please! You could call it the Re-Pete 🤘🏼
Did I miss what that guitar is?
What is an alternative that doesn't look tat? Really want something like this
24:00 touché Mr Pete
I was thinking "replacement for my pocket POD" Then I saw the tuner and heard the price 😮
So glad I waited to hear the outro music at the end of the video, after Lee's "Bye bye!" sounding like a children's programme presenter. Epic!!
Not only for practice, but you can figure out what modulations you like without spending 600 + dollars to only find out you like one of them. Then you know what like you can spend the money you saved buying something like this.
Can I play bass through it?
LOL. watching at work and Pete and Lee and cracking me up. They seem a little bit goofy today- which is GREAT!
Really wish they had made the larger catalysts stereo, that would have really kicked ass and clearly they can do a cheap stereo processor.
Stereo coming from the same cabinet is a waste of time. You really need a few feet of space for it to work.
@@kenthhamner2641 true but as soon as you mic it up or take a stereo signal out the back or take the stereo USB out or plug in headphones it's a different story.
I send mine back today.
There is no possibility to change time on Delay.
So no Slapback Echo possible. What a bad mistake. Could have been the perfect one for all pedal.
Yes there is: that's what the "tap tempo" button is for !
@@digitalchris6681
Sorry nope, this doesn't allow just 1 (One) short slapback.
I'm not the only one who is totally disappointed by this.
you tap tempo it, or you talking about the amount of repeats? you turn the dial to light up more leds for more repeats, I think you sent it back before learning it
@@rickhammel9541
Hi Rick, that sounds good to me. I can rebuy it if it works.
Btw. I was talking about the repeats.
But i know lots of users who struggle with this problem.
I tried for hours but the LED dial only changed the volume of the delay mixed to the signal.
@@TheElrondo hmm, that seems like it might be able to changed to the amount of repeats. Good luck, hope it works for you, or you find something that does.
It sounds great, Line 6 really pushing the competition for quality sounds. But this seems a little frustrating to use, doesn’t seem super intuitive tbh but maybe that’s just me!
I agree. And wish it wasn’t plastic
"Boost will be a boost"
Water will be wet lol
At least the pod kidney bean thing from decades ago had a LCD screen. This is way too finnicky to be useful to me.
I sold my THR and replaced it with a HX stomp into a bluetooth speaker
They’re still buzzing from the “late night.”
Very good but very fisher price in design where do i get one 😂
9:21 Nice riff. 11:36
IMO it's a bit of a bad decision to have a mid boost and a mid boosted overdrive in there, but I bet if it didn't have the Klon and TS808 in there people would riot lol. I think you guys left the Klon on for most of the video, at 14 minutes Pete noticed it in the sound :')
The Helix doesn’t need overhauled at all.
Love watching your videos while I poop! Keep up the good work!
