He sure moved like Gatemouth, but he's so young here I didn't recognize him. Plus no firebird. What TV show was this? We didn't have color until 1972 lol.
To me Freddie King was the man! Blues guitar, singer extraordinaire/genius. The man could play just one single note and made it sound like magic! I love Freddie's music. I play a lot of his music on my guitar. I owe him. Found out that Billy Cox is playing on this video. Another great one! Long live their music!
For the ppl that gave this video a thumbs down don’t realize their guitars heroes learned their licks from Freddie,BB,Albert King.these guitarists were innovators not copiers
I use to see Freddie King at the Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin Texas 2 or 3 times a year and man he was great, RIP Freddie , great , great artist The Texas Cannonball
He died so young and before his career really began to take off. Signed a big record deal that would have made him but he died of a heart attack right after the deal was done
Freddie King is for people who judge with all five senses. Musical prowess unmatched by most everyone. And go go dancability unmatched by most any artist
FYI - The studio 45 is very different and worth a listen, too: fewer ripping blues licks, more repetitive riff-based verses. It's off his all-instrumental album "Let's Hide Away and Dance Away with Freddy King." The album's more famous songs are "Hideaway" and "The Stumble."
@@richardread8281 Can’t believe everything you read Richard. They were a successful band for 3 years when NOEL left. He and Jimi started to clash in the studio which didn’t help the situation. That’s when Noel decided to leave the band and join his band Fat Mattress full time. In addition, Jimi had promised Billy Cox that he would send for him years before. That was the perfect time to call his old Army buddy to join the band as Noel’s replacement. Have a nice day and Happy New Year Richard!
Am I the only one amazed by the fact he can get such vibrato while wearing his guitar so awkwardly? I would always feel like I was gonna drop it if I had my strap that way.
Thumbs down there because they didn't leave for the 70s man if you went through the 70s man you have respect for some of that s*** you got you don't know what nothing is why is the world coming to do now I know I'm getting old but Freddie King is a cool cat with the smooth groove on the UA-cam so be cool like a cucumber in the shade and dig it like a spade in the garden
One of the most influential electric guitar players in history!
No question Johnny Winter, SRV, Garcia etcetc
This was played as the exit music at my Dad's funeral last year. Except no-one left, they were too busy enjoying listening to this master at work!
HellYeah
Freddie would have loved to hear that story.
Billy Cox on bass. And Gatemouth Brown on that Rickenbacker rhythm guitar 😉
wow t/u
He sure moved like Gatemouth, but he's so young here I didn't recognize him. Plus no firebird. What TV show was this? We didn't have color until 1972 lol.
Oh damn that is Billy!!!
What an incredible player, singer, showman !
Freddie is one of THE three Kings. I love him and still listen to his music regularly.
That groove is absolutely killer man. Freddie absolutely killed it out there and did it in only 2 and a half minutes. What a legend
Groove is insane.
RIP Freddie King (September 3, 1934 - December 28, 1976), aged 42
You will always be remembered as a legend.
He is so damn good that it hurts. Love the man!
His groove is so insanely good. Every note hits so hard
He sung and played guitar with such passion an incredible amazing musician so sad he left us so early 😢

Not to mention Gatemouth Brown on rhythm guitar 😊
This is one of the coolest, hip blues videos ever! Freddie King was the master who influenced everyone. Such command, finesse, and great phrasing.
Even God Loved Him!
Imagine! I once saw Freddie open for ZZ Top! My favorite King!
what year? sounds awesome! I thought seeing the black crowes open for ZZ Top was a great combo but wow, that's way better!
The great Freddie King who sadly left us way too soon.
I've watched this literally hundreds of times now and it still gets me. Go Freddie.
When Eric Clapton heard Freddie King play he said " Now that's proper guitar playing ".
Strange Brew must've been inspired by this track
Hendrix asked to play with King and he said, "Boy, wait a few more years ..."
Boy, you still aren't over your bedtime stories.@@Rodrigo-ej5wb
If there is music in heaven, this is on the set list.
If not, then it's false advertising...
One note and you know exactly who it is with your eyes closed.I’d say that’s pretty legendary to have that much nuance and expression in your playing.
15 people that gave this video a thumbs down came here looking for their missing soul and left before they could find it
To zapewne znawcy bambusowego hip-hopu
Nor could they tell the difference between their ass and a hole in the wall. Freddie was a f*cking genius. Inspires me to this moment
HAHAHA!!!! Oh that's good!!!
Wish I could like this comment twice👍👍

Freddie was so gifted and I love the way he shared it with us.
So much better than any contemporary blues act out there.
Freddie king is badass! Texas legend....
This man is soooo underrated
He is not underrated xD He is already one of the three kings of blues
He died so young and before his career really began to take off. Signed a big record deal that would have made him but he died of a heart attack right after the deal was done
Freddie King is for people who judge with all five senses. Musical prowess unmatched by most everyone. And go go dancability unmatched by most any artist
King is an appropriate name for this " ANOTHER KING OF THE BLUES ".
Billy Cox on bass!
+curtisingy Nope. Lol...doesn't look much like him. Probably Harold Brown.
+barthur08 I stand corrected...it is Billy Cox

Top 5 guitarist ever imo
Billy Cox on bass! He got the call from Jimi Hendrix not long after!
Better late than NEVER!!!!
Yes because Hendrix was told to get rid of the white people and bring in black people.
@@richardread8281 If you believe that you are a FOOL! NOEL Redding left to join his own band Fat Mattress full time!

Am I the only one amazed by the fact he can get such vibrato while wearing his guitar so awkwardly? I would always feel like I was gonna drop it if I had my strap that way.
John Lee Hooker also had his guitar strap on one shoulder as well haha they didn't give a fuck apparently
B. B. did the same thing 😉

like ratio... that is right haha. BADASS! what an inspiration to me and my band : )
big daddy legendary badass
The great Clarence 'Gatemouth' Brown on the blonde Rickenbacker, behind Freddie.
I'm curious about the 'white tape' fretboard markers on Billy Cox' bass, any ideas out there?
Lovin' it
Awesome! Slower but funky.
This is what we want.
That vibrato - ooof

Someone should make a tutorial on how to do his solo
WOW!

I wonder if Billy Cox discussed with Jimi Hendrix about this performance!
Dig those finger pics…old school blues…not gonna see that again anytime
Just like with food the tastiest licks can be the simplest
