When I was learning to play guitar in 1971, those close-ups would have helped me a Hell of a lot. My first dedicated 'blues' LP was "Freddie King Is A Blues Master", I've been a fan ever since 1973.
And so was Stevie Ray Vaughan. He learned from the best. SRV also had a great session with Albert King. Albert King is really good, SRV is just in a different league. Check it out; ua-cam.com/video/4-apz26BfHY/v-deo.html
@@petergorm I definitely agree with you on what you said about Clapton being influenced by him AND SRV - as well as the other two of the ‘3 Kings’ of the Blues 🎸!
My goodness, the passsion! He is so notee with his music, it is Beautiful. What a perfect day sitting in a blues pub, token a cigar, drinkin' a glass of bourbon and talking to a beautiful woman oh and let's not forget listen to Freddie! Then a nice groove can happen!
One of Eric Clapton's Top eight, All-Time Favorite songs. And you can definitely hear the influence of Freddie King, and this song, in Eric Clapton's Music and guitar playing.

+brad newsom Billy Cox was in the house band on this TV show, "The !!!! Beat", backing up all the guests. And the bandleader of the house band, playing the brown Rickenbacker guitar on the right, is Clarence Gatemouth Brown.
As well as Billy Gibbons, and Dusty Hill of ZZ top..Dusty even played with him on a few occasions ..said you'd better not mess up playing with Freddie...
+L3ONARDO07 They're pretty drastically different. The only two real things they share playing wise is the fact they both play out the blues scale (as you'd expect) and they both played 355's giving them some tonal similarities.
👍 Definitely 1 of the great 3 ‘Kings of Blues’ 🎸ist’s (Al and B. B.) imo! BUT I think he should wear a scarf of some kind around his neck to wipe off the sweat - like Pavarotti always did. (Although it just goes to show how much feeling and emotion he puts into his playing!) * You can also hear just how much Clapton was influenced by him, and others too.
no overdrive, no delay, hell no whammy bar, no echo just a guitar what a great player
MV............and that Singin !!!!!!!!!!
It's incredible how much control he had over his vibrato when he actually wore his guitar "wrong". He was the absolute man.
he wore it Texas style , quite different from wrong . I guess Albert Collins was wrong too . I guess Johnny Winter didn't know how to put on his strap
@@duelenigma7732 THIS!!!
We need music like this today. Love watching the band…..so much honest emotion.
Teskey Brothers
I'm dying.... this what started it all!!! Clapton, Bloomfield, Page, Hendrix, Greene, Kirwin.....there is no end to the list!
and king still the best
He lived for his music. You can see him sweatin on every single upload. Mad respect to the biggest guitar player of all times.
Nobody plays it like Freddie King!!! So much energy in those notes, you can see why he makes all those faces while playing. A pure blues God!!
This is the song that put Clapton on his path.
Jason Keith yes. Just saw the interview with Clapton where he said that. Search UA-cam “
Clapton Harrison guitar “
you can hear it...:-)
i can hear a lot of SRV singing
Eric knew how to find the very best in músic
And somehow he still ended up a racist douchebag. The mental gymnastics aren't really surprising anymore.
this gives me chills freddie kings voice is always gold long live the king

Freddie King.. The Man..
What a voice, What a guitar player.. Just so Awesome.. 👍
Best tone I've heard from a King of the blues
Just possibly the greatest electric bluesman of all time
I love how they show close-ups of the playing. Where Freddie plays with fingers picks while Magic San played with only his bare fingers.
Absolutely legendary for so many reasons, you can tell how much Clapton was influenced
Eric can Say he loves bb, buddy , muddy,...but his n1 was Freddie, i could swear
And so was Stevie Ray Vaughan. He learned from the best. SRV also had a great session with Albert King. Albert King is really good, SRV is just in a different league.

Freddie was a King!

When you see the band falling out, you KNOW that performance is the real deal.
Yes! No one plays it quite like Freddy anymore.
Bluesmen like Freddie surely are the real and original geniuses from the Front.
The others stand by the end of the row.

This is my favorite blues artist. Either him or Albert....I can’t decide
Tremendo Freddy King. Esta rola, cuando la escuchó, le voló la cabeza a Clapton. Así lo dice en su autobiografía.
Freddy could sing and play.
And write instrumental s
Pouring with sweat and soul
This is amazing.

This cut was the " B" Side of Freddy's big hit HIDEAWAY from 1960 and I preferred it
That's really interesting. Thanks

You can see where his finger pick has worn away the finish above the sratch plate 😀 cool

Fantastic video of Freddie, any info on what show this was? Or when it was recorded?
I have never loved anybody or anything. Sure. I have said so and tried my best to make people believe me. Even when I tell myself.
anyone knows the date?
What model guitar is that...Gibson hollow body cherry red? Sharp! Sho nuff! Get down!
ES 345 Gibson
When?, Where?, Who? (Freddie, yea I know that one), How?
I Need to know!!!!

Why some singers always sweat so much?
“That’s dat blues, baby 😎” But honestly it could be those nice suits and shoes they wore
There’s more band members than The Jets.
I've noticed B.B and Freddie had a similar style. Did one influence another or it kinda just happened?
They're pretty different actually
