Hey...👋 Anyone out there remember the Yardley line of perfume, makeup ..made famous by Twiggy ?!!! Omg, how sixty*seventy chics loved Yardley ... We all wore their famous yellow lipstick out...hah, I know... S****
i use her skincare routine and the vaseline base and moisturiser, me and marilyn have the same skin type, dry. so don’t use this routine if you don’t have cracked dry skin! it will make you break out or acne ❤️ hope this helped! her skincare cleared my skin, i now have clear glowly fresh skin💘
You should be 🌼 Marilyn had a lot of money and could afford this. But a good moisturizing cream can help a lot too and sometimes you don't need much to have a good skin. Just two-three products can be enough
I’ve used some of these back in high school. Cleared up everything! Started using them again recently as an adult and can’t figure out why I ever stopped using them in the 1st place.
Just letting you know the products that she used had a high concentration of vitamin a in it and other essential ingredients And it sure did get rid of scarring and old scars and it shrunk pores stopped oily skin and aging Stopped skin sagging stopped redness in the face sorry the list goes on 😂 By the way she did put the stuff also on her cleavage. Because some women get pimples on their breast and redness
This was a prescription for the skin. Interesting she was told not to eat those foods because they are full of omegas which happen to be anti-inflammatory. If you substitute regular chocolate for dark chocolate of course. Great video! I love them all!
I tried these products a few years back, and I broke out terribly. I know that her makeup artist used a lot of Vaseline on her face to help her retain moisture. I wonder if he did that because she used so many mattifying products in her skincare routine.
Haha I couldn’t even afford one of these products, let alone a whole routine! I‘m really glad that the skincare industry has evolved so much since then so that it’s possible to find similarly effective products for a low price point.
I found the Erno Lazlo cleansing bar and detoxifying oil set at TJMaxx for $7.99. It's the kind of cleansing bar that was in the Audry Hepburn video. 😁 TJMaxx also had some Elizabeth Arden night cream for $14.99.
They still sell this stuff today like crazy; I got the vitamin c peel two step treatment on Xmas clearance for $3.50 and oil cleanser/two moisturizers all under 10 dollars each. They always have the Elizabeth Arden ones too! Never more than 30 bucks and almost always a few on clearance for under $5.00
Wonderful video❤️ I would love to try all of these but they’re so expensive. I did try an Erno Laszlo product years ago but it broke me out. Thanks for showing us this❤️
This was the best, I loved the letter and the routine demo. I have a similar letter typed for me from my mother-in-law back from 1980. She sold Hollywood Accessories, which was renamed to Gail Richards, which is now Edna Skincare. She told me Hollywood Accessories split in half. One owner was Gail Richards and the other was Jafra. I used a tissue to wipe my creams off for years, I never liked it, it left micro cotton balls on my face, it got into all my creams and made the creams feel sandy. After she passed away, I started I using a warm wash cloth. That’s how I found you, i wanted to find out if there was a proper way to work all these old fashion creams. I’ve used them since I was 19 years old.
This video was awesome. I have used the Erno Laszlo products for more than 20 years and I love them. It's really too bad a lot f the core products have been discontinued. It was a very involved and somewhat time consuming routine to follow but is so very worth it. The key to the routine/line is the Laszlo cleansing ritual and splashing technique done twice per day. I always receive compliments on my skin. People tell me that it looks so soft, smooth and glowing.
The first sunscreens were only produced in the late 30s/early40s and were really thick, heavy coloured pastes for mountaineers and soliders and so on. Cosmetically unusable for normal life, certainly unsable under make-up, and the association between sun and accelerated skin ageing was not explicitly made nor cared about - they were products simply made to prevent serious sunburns in extreme situations. The earliest forumlation by the guy who founded the Piz Buin line was a mixture of red vetinarary grade petroleum jelly and cocoa butter and was as you might suspect, red in colour. A practical product for soldiers and mountaineers to smear on exposed parts but not ordinary women. Even by the 1970s, sunscreens were only promoted and used for beach/holiday use, tanning was promoted as normal and desirable, sunscreens were to avoid burning too badly, not that they really worked well - I recall factor 4 being the norm and Factor 8 eventually being the highest available when I was a kid in the late seventies/early eighties. They were stll generally thick, white and sticky, cosmetically unpleasant. Sunscreens were not marketed ever as part of any skincare routine by any US or European company for probably 25-40 years after Marilyn's death. That wasn't the case until the 21st century, really, probably the last five-ten years max that sunscreen has been promoted as skincare in the west, and even now, most women here still don't use it regularly. The Japanese and Koreans meanwhile always valued very fair skin and got on the cosmetically elegant sunscreen wagon a long time prior to this, with th big Asian cosmetics companies being very ahead of the game with their preparations and before that, women simply used gloves, parasols and sun avoidance to avoid burning and getting darker.
I love Erno Laszlo products. I have dry skin and the Phormula 3-9 cream is a miracle worker! I’ve used since they had the o’clock system. They no longer use that but I found it helpful. I use the active Phelityl oil, Phelityl soap, hydrating toner,Phormula 3-9 cream and so glad the Shake-it is back!💗
Oh my god! I was hoping you would make this video because with the recent release of her skincare many people were talking about it and I didn't know if you would make a video about it since you already made a video about Marilyn Monroe. So thank youuu!!!❤
As a huge fan of M.M. , this is a delightful video. We could imagine all those routines every morning and every night. She was wonderful in many ways. 🌷
INTERESTING VIDEO , THOSE PRODUCTS ARE NICE , BUT TOO EXPENSIVE FOR ME , MARILYN IS STILL A NUMBER ONE SELLER , SHE WAS A BEAUTY , A TREASURE, GREAT VIDEO THANK YOU LAURA
I swore by Erno Laszlo for years and I am 33. I have had to work hard for good skin but I do have phenomenal skin now. I’ve tried many products but my skin loves Erno Laszlo. I’m so sorry many of the products have been discontinued because some of them were great. They also used to make the best foundation (the mousse-like Marilyn’s Anita of Denmark). The Phelityl bar and cleansing oil and the detoxifying cleansing oil are my favourites. I also use the Sea Mud bar. I used many of the toners but my favourite was the discontinued Heavy Controlling Lotion. They used to have a Beta wash and a duo-phase cleanser too. So many products I can think of that are long forgotten. I’m a huge fan of the Normaliser Shake-It Tinted Treatment and was heartbroken when it was discontinued for a while. I know they had resurrected the product for a limited edition release, and while they do sell it again it’s the same price but more than half the original size. (It used to be 6.8 oz and now is 3 oz). The Shake-It really does work, and it looks so natural, which is hard to come by in this Instagrammer world.
Maybe it was supposed to be used like a cold cream to remove residual makeup as a second cleanse after the soap, although you'd usually use a cold cream first.
I wonder if maybe the creams in that time didn't soak into the skin as quickly as they do now? So you'd take the top layer off to continue with your make up and so that the cream doesn't sit on the skin uncomfortably?
Grandma ( who was poor eastern european) would warm her face w the cloth, apply PONDS,cleanse w more very warm cloth, then rub tiny bit of pure olive oil on face, neck, hands before bed....used to watch her.♥️
Interesting video ... one thing to bear in mind is the products are now either discontinued or very different formulas to the ones Marylin & Audrey used. In the 1950s - 70s Erno Laszlo was the prestige line of skincare which you had to either see Erno himself for at great expense or from the 1960s could buy at fancy stores like Bergdorf / I Magnin etc. But you had to only use EL and follow strict instructions.... the formulas were actually quite simple but worked together in combination.
You did an amazing job following her skincare steps. I wonder if marilyn followed all the steps herself and though wiping off the creme and tissues was unnecessary also. I think she started using Erno Laszlo in her 30s, when she was younger she was a lot more Dewey and glowy but as you can see when she got into her 30s she had more of a matte look to her complexion
This line can be used by a man. I use the white marble facial soap and the detoxifying cleansing oil. I love them, if you can splurge please do. You won't be disappointed. If it's good enough for Marilyn it's good enough for the mere mortal.
I love your channel! So happy to see love and appreciation for vintage inspired style. By the way 😊 you kinda remind me of Michelle Dockery from Downtown Abbey and Good Behavior. You resemble her just a bit.
Wow Erno Lazlo was really popular among all the famous actresses! Very expensive. I use my rosehip oil, Nivea and vaseline. Works great for me. Thank you for the video, interesting as always.
She was so lovely. It would be so much fun if you could showcase a few of the actresses diets back then. I read an interesting book called, "I'll Have What She's Having" by Rebecca Harrington & she wrote about old Hollywood stars & their diets. I think you would like it.
My mom went this route for me in the 80s for my cystic acne instead of accutane and long term antibiotics. I used it religiously for more than 10 years and had beautiful skin (and happier healthier liver!) I don't recall any of the soaps being "harsh" or "drying" ...maybe the formulas have changed. If anyone is considering these products I would highly encourage getting a consultation at the counter because there is a method to the madness. 💋

Love Erno Laszlo, first started using in the 70s. Routine has changed a bit but results are the same. Don’t be spooked by price or multiple steps, in the long run you will save money and the routine becomes habit.
Hey, does the shake it match your skin color? You seem to be very pale. I wanna buy it too but I’m afraid it’s too dark for me.. 😳 Beautifully video !! ❤️
I have all of these except the Normalizer Shake-It. I had it in the past and didn’t know they’d brought it back. Thanks for that info. Also, there used to be a big jar of stuff that had a consistency sort of like Vaseline, but it was thick and amber colored and had this great smell. I can’t remember what it was called, but I miss that stuff!
Hey, loved the video. Um, this might seem unusual, but do you know of any vintage hair removal techniques for the upper lip, for example, besides plucking?
Fascinating. How cool to have a copy of her prescription. I've never used any of Laszlo's products. In fact I only learned of them from watching your videos. Wonder why he told her not to eat the foods that were good fats that would have helped her skin? Maybe it was an allergy or they didn't know about good fats and oils. You do good work on here. Interesting find.
Are you wearing the Marilyn lipstick from your vintage doll collection? If not what are you wearing? I LOVE it! I'm dark haired and thunk I could rock it!
My nighttime facial routine... wash face. and maaaybe sometimes if I hjave my make up on and I am too tired to get out of bed, I just reemove it with micellare water xD or baby wipes xD and once in a blue moon I aply some Nivea cream, when my skin is really dry xD
I used the products for a minute. It was back before they sold the company and “revamped” it so to say. However I really liked the dead sea mud soap! It cleansed the skin really well but was pretty expensive. In my opinion it was worth it.
Don't forget to check out Marilyn's lipstick at www.vintagedollcosmetics.com

Hungary Ernő László cream set

Same I just started using her routine 3 weeks ago and this is the clearest my skin has ever been. I will never use anything else!
chrissy jones i can’t ever go back to anything else! it’s amazing 💕
Now I understand why Marilyn was always late for her appointments. But totally justified. 🤷♀️
And here I am feeling fancy when I apply moisturizer after washing my face.
😂
Same tbh😭
You should be 🌼 Marilyn had a lot of money and could afford this. But a good moisturizing cream can help a lot too and sometimes you don't need much to have a good skin. Just two-three products can be enough
@@vintagecherries 👏👏👏
I have never used these products but I was watching this video as I was doing my own nighttime facial routine. :)
Oh neat love that
Well that's because they run hundreds of dollars
She also used to apply lanolin oil all over her face and would lounge around the house with it on, even giving interviews I read.
It's still in some modern products! La Mer and Nivea.
It’s been documented that Marilyn used Nivea cream. She also used Vasoline as a makeup base to give her a glow.
I’ve used some of these back in high school. Cleared up everything! Started using them again recently as an adult and can’t figure out why I ever stopped using them in the 1st place.
to many steps, people have busy lives so I think thats why a 1 step facial cleaning system became more popular.
Just letting you know the products that she used had a high concentration of vitamin a in it and other essential ingredients
And it sure did get rid of scarring and old scars and it shrunk pores stopped oily skin and aging
Stopped skin sagging stopped redness in the face sorry the list goes on 😂

Haha no kidding
I thought the same thing.
Such an amazing video , it’s so interesting to see the exact regime Marilyn Monroe used
I tried these products a few years back, and I broke out terribly. I know that her makeup artist used a lot of Vaseline on her face to help her retain moisture. I wonder if he did that because she used so many mattifying products in her skincare routine.
Seems to me that women had problems w very dry skin back in the day....most of them loaded up on heavy ingredients....poor oily skins like myself!
I don’t think they had many options back then unfortunately
susan schaub They also used drying cleansers like soap bars.
Vaseline breaks me out too. But loved the video 👍
She may have had dry skin or they used it to wipe off the heavy makeup she had to wear on set
Haha I couldn’t even afford one of these products, let alone a whole routine! I‘m really glad that the skincare industry has evolved so much since then so that it’s possible to find similarly effective products for a low price point.
True, not to mention that sunscreen is way more prevalent and with more options too.
Well, they were for the blonde bombshell, who had mucho bucks by that point.
Not the majority of 50's women who adored Noxzema, witch hazel...
Prices of products are higher than they were in 50’s but we do have a wider variety of options now days
@@kayliegrace9294 AND, in general people have much more Mula $$$$ to shop with...👋
@Amy Woehler : yup, especially in real health food stores....some all natural awesome products.
this was somuch fun to watch...Marilyn had an inner glow as well as outside beauty, her soul shined...your skin is lovely
I found the Erno Lazlo cleansing bar and detoxifying oil set at TJMaxx for $7.99. It's the kind of cleansing bar that was in the Audry Hepburn video. 😁

I know it’s so weird to think people used tissue that way
My mom _still_ uses tissue to remove her cold cream and it seems to work for her. All it does is irritate my face so warm wash cloth it is for me.
I love the vintage doll you have in the back! I collect vintage dolls.. so beautiful.. it takes you back to a different era! ❤️🤗🤗

Hello Laura I very much enjoyed this Marilyn Monroe video! Thank you for sharing her lovely skin routines. ♥️♥️♥️
It’s interesting that there was no sunscreen. I guess back then sunscreen was only for Beach goers and lifeguards. If only they knew...

Yes it’s my Marilyn lipstick from vintage doll cosmetics
@@Laurajaneatelier gonna HAVE to have that!
Love the shake it. Mmmmm. I used to use it to blot my skin when my makeup needed a touch up when I worked at the makeup counters 💃🏻💃🏻
Great video! Where did you get that print out instructions? and the cute envelope?
Erno lazlo sent it to me ❤️❤️
@@Laurajaneatelier so cool!
The soap last forever
If you don't mind me asking, what foundation did you use for this video? Thanks 😊
The products sure did wonders around your eyes and cheekbones
Love this , thank you for sharing . I use the phenyl night cream it smells so nice and makes my skin so soft without irritation .
