Trigger warning for anyone who has issues with needles!
I just covered the needles with my hand and pretended they were at the dentist 😂
I miss seeing different faces and more authentic style, like during the 90’s and 00’s. Sure there were plastic surgery and fashion trends, but it was more natural and customized to each person. It didn’t seem like things were copied and pasted on to everyone.
I agree! Everyone looks the same it’s so boring
100%!!!
I couldn't disagree more. When I discuss fashion of today with my mother (she's 60 and I'm in my 20s) her favorite thing about today's fashion is that people on the street could be wearing anything! You might see someone walking around in full cotton/linen 1850s garb, a full disco-inspired getup, and sweatpants and a t shirt all waiting for the same bus and noone will bat an eye. I think we have more encouragement to be an individual and explore fashion than we ever have.
You are soooo right. My thoughts exactly.
Take the three women on “Friends,” for example. All three were completely unique and yet they were all beautiful.
I personally love the idea of getting back to showcasing our unique, natural beauty. Great video Laura ❤ 👄
Me too, thanks for watching 💕💕
@@Rositasparks I agree!
I'm glad, I'm tired of seeing balloon lips everywhere
Me too
Or Baboon behind 🤷🏻♀️
Ok. Don’t show Bella Hadid while talking about a ”more natural look”. Jeeez!
Only the eyes are original on that one.
She had a fox eye lift@@ls-l1518
Full lips were still big in the 90s. That’s when the big lip filler craze started. So many of my friends started getting them. A lot of it wasn’t reversible. They were using silicone. And other things.
Or permanent implants in the lips.
@@erikkasepiphany85 Julia Roberts had them!
Oh wow! Didn't know this!!
Yup! Lisa Rinna on Days of Our Lives!
Yep, I remember Laura Flynn Boyle, Michelle Pfeiffer and many others getting their lips injected or implanted back then.
Oh pls bring natural, unique beauty back❤
Doesn't create as big money as all the present day fakery, sadly.
Trends come and go. Whenever something new becomes mainstream and common it will begin to go out of fashion. It's how it's always been. That's why classic style and looking like yourself is the best. The shift back to natural looks was only inevitable once again, but that too will pass in a decade or so, and another unnatural craze will come.
Oh, the 2000s and Juicy Tubes! I bartended in NYC and people actually could mirror themselves in my Juicy Tubed lips! 😂
Lip augmentation became popular because Angelina Jolie was pretty much considered the most beautiful woman in Hollywood. People wanted her lips. The Jenner's did not start this trend.
And what is most interesting about Angelina is that most women thought her beauty wasn’t unnaturally enhanced back then.
@@MVMM-yo8rzI definitely did. XD Angelina has had work done.
Jolie started it; the Jenner's kept it going. 😝
@@MVMM-yo8rzHer lips were natural then, though! Super full since she was a baby.
@@alisonk29 her lips were natural, but she had a nose job that made it smaller and thinner, so that makes her lips look proportionally larger on her face.
Nvr got into lip fillers, and from what i know now about fillers/ Botox, so glad I didn’t. Now this is something I could get into; the cutesy lip trend 👄 💋 ❤ all about accentuating what you naturally have 😊
Yes definitely 👍 💕💕💕
It only really a problem when it’s overdone. A few tweaks aren’t gonna be a problem for you
It’s so weird to me that certain body parts or facial features can be trending
A lot of it is due to porn and cinema. Fuller lips are seen as youthful and sexy.
So happy to hear this! Nothing is better than being authentic and loving who you are! I never liked my lips 👄 and glad I never used fillers. Yay 💋
Yes I think it’s really important to be happy with the way you are!
Does this mean the trend of coloring a straight line across your cupids bow is on the way out too? I'm usually good about letting everyone do there own thing but I can stand to look at someone with that smear of lipstick over their lip.
Omg yes!!! It’s even worse when they arch it and make a “semicircle” top lip
This bugs me a lot too
They did that in the late 1940s and 1950s too. It looked like a smear then and still does.
This is why I personally will stick to good old fashioned lotions and potions over the counter to look youthful. A gallon of water a day and Nutrogena and Oil of Olay has been very good to me.
This isn't about "the world", it is about the USA which isn't the world.
I like the 1960s look best of all! Pale pink and frosted white shaded lips with more dramatized eyes
A few years ago I thought of fillers but never got them and I’m so glad for that
Thank you God that you’ve always kept me in check and allowed my natural beauty to always shine ❤ I love myself! My body is my temple ❤
I'll be so glad when the "Filler Faces" go away.....
I’m 58, and I’ve never had any fillers, Botox, plastic surgeries, etc. None of my fellow GenXer’s have either, at least none that I’m associated with out here in the ‘real world’.
I feel awful for these young women 20-30’s, who feel pressured by unrealistic beauty standards set by influencers on social media. When they continue to have work done, many falling into that BDD trap, they tend to very much age themselves prematurely.
I believe it was one of the Welsh twins that did a segment on the ‘Love Island’ cast, it may have been another creator…Either way, they were in their early 20’s to early 30’s, and every one of them looked to be a decade older 🙁.
I will be so glad when we as a society, return to appreciation of a more natural, realistic standard of beauty. I’m SO tired of bubble lips, and everyone having the same face.
Great video, btw. I love beauty history, so I’m now subscribing ☺️.
🌸💖🌸
Love this episode a walk thru all the different decades , really appreciate this one ! 👄
Thank
You
When I was in middle school I was bullied by the classmates and my family as well cuz I have such a small lips, know I feel more comfortable with my lips cuz they are vintage and unique ❤,just don’t let that stupid beauty standards define who u are you
I’m sorry that happened. When I was younger lips weren’t even a thing. I only noticed it became a trend in the last 10 years
A lot of people (black people in general) used to be bullied as well for their big lips before, thin lips were the trend, so yeah, it so crazy how it changes
Thinner lips can be beautiful. Women will so many procedures look like they don't accept themselves and their own bodies. It's sad to me.
I tried to watch, but literally couldn't because of all the needle sticking. I had to just listen.
Needles creep me out too! I will keep that in mind for future videos
Indeed 🤐
Omg I thought i was the only one!
I was like why so much needles we understand what lip filler means without watching the needle pierce their faces in every frame!
Some ppl have full lips naturally without fillers. They look much better as tgey don't stick out like filler duck lips. And I don't just mean black ppl have naturally full lips, all races have lip variety in size shape.
Yes there are all varieties of course, however by tendency the more northern your heritage, the thinner lips, it is an adaptation to cold climate, big lips are more adapted to warm climate
Love love love this channel. Thank you. ❤ 💋
Thank you 🙏
I'm so happy the vintage lip is back.
I’ll be so glad when lip fillers are over
Both lip types have their own beauty
Yes if it looks natural and you don’t have massive filler migration past your lips lines
Faces look the same thanks to fillers, they are everywhere in the face. So happy this trend is ending!!! But the look will remain unless they pay to disolve it. Good job, Laura❤
I have never seen anyone admit that the trend of wanting full lips comes from seeing black people with naturally full lips. That is a natural phenotype that we have. Kylie was inspired by black people to get her lips filled.
True! Mixed race women are definitely having their own style decade! Full lips and ample booty!
@ what?
Oh guys, never get the Botox lip flip. I sell cosmosuticals so I’ve done it. I couldn’t spit!! I’d brush my teeth and everything would dribble out the sides 😂. It did look good, though. Haha. I was comical. It doesn’t last long, either. Within three weeks I noticed it was going away. It’s a sphincter muscle, the mouth, and moved so much it wears off fast like around the eyes. Just doesn’t last long
I heard it does that but other people I know said nothing happened. I bet they gave you too many units
@ might just be how my mouth reacts, also. It did look nice :)
Sphincter muscle hehe😂 wild times we live in. I love your sense of humor about it, that’s great! I’d say we could all have a better sense of humor about these things really. It would bring people more peace.
@ haha!! I love yours!! I wish the world could laugh more together. We got our sphincter in a bunch 😂
Also, great job on the video, I love to see beauty history ❤
So glad you enjoyed this
I got fillers in 2021/2022 and it’s 2024 and I have filler migration. It’s hideous. Going to get dissolved this week!
Sorry to hear that! At least you have the option to dissolve it
Just my opinion- when “everyone” is beautiful, “nobody” is beautiful.
Eventually we all look like AI manufactured people
AMEN
Wow, I have been watching your channel for a while now and never knew you worked in medical aesthetics! Wonderful, high-quality content that you have been releasing btw. I love listening to your episodes at work :)
Thank you! Yes I have been working in medical aesthetics for a few years now, glad you are enjoying my content 💕💕
Yes, I too would prefer to see versatility again. Thankfully I’ve never been one to jump on any bandwagons, never used fillers. So many regret it now.
Honestly as someone who has naturally fuller/more shapely lips with a defined Cupid’s bow the lip filler trend was always so weird and uncanny to me. It’s always been kinda super uncomfortable too cause like I’m white and because I have full lips and the lip filler trend was a thing I got asked by strangers where I got my lips done 😭. Like nowhere I just look like this man.
That would be annoying if everyone just assumed you had filler
Im still using JUICY TUBES! My favorite, MAGIC SPELL
The Avon ad!❤❤❤❤
💕💕
I think it is also important to understand that if you have a long philtrum, lip fillers WILL look like duck lips! You have to have a face that worksnwith them.
Depends on the way the lips are filled 🤔🤔
It’s great that the shift is to embrace the beauty one is born with than to enhance it with fillers, etc. however, it seems that for some, it may be too late. The damage done to the layers under the skin is irreparable. The fillers cannot be 100% dissolved. Also, the stretching of the skin can result in a worn out appearance. People like Kylie Jenner have the resources and expertise to estheticians to make her look “pretty” but what about those young women targeted by unscrupulous clinicians?
I still like my plump lips...
Another entertaining video 🎉 Always enjoy your posts❤
Love your makeup in this video. ❤
Thank you!
Love this one. 👄
Thank you 🙏
I think lip fillers look awful! Maybe it's just my preference but I also think people look weird with a fuller top lip than bottom.
Laura please make a video about Jane Powell's diet and exercise routine please.
Wow, that would be a fun one to research!
If you are not born with big lips, big lips is not for your face. That's simple.
Appreciate your natural self !
Some women who got fillers to have bigger lips were beautiful with their natural thin lips !
I think as you age your lips get thinner. I think very subtle plumping looks ok to add hydration in just not a fan of the overfilled look especially on super young women
I was told by a doctor that botox never really desolves. It just shifts around to other places. They will pay as they get older....
I think u meant to say filler but yes. It also blocks lymphatic drainage and leads to a lot of face swelling. They now call it “pillow face”
Doctor was talking about fillers, they do build up.
Back then just getting any type of cosmetic surgery done was taboo. It's so crazy so many people have gotten it. I hope the next generation looking at their parents don't think that this should be the standard
Listen, the just pre-filler generation are getting face lifts now! Look at Christina Aguilera, Lindsay Lohan, and Kate Beckinsale. Total face lifts!
Because they've aged?
Pink women wanting brown lips.
I've also heard of celebrities getting surgical lip lifts, Like for ex. kim Kardashian
Wow that’s wild
I did one 2 1/2 years ago. Best thing I've ever done for my appearance. It was no big deal at all, it didn't even hurt much; I only needed one ibuprofen the first evening.
@@Laurajaneatelierlots of regular people do as well. It's usually done to "fix" a long philitrum (which can be very aging.)
@@Lola-AreaCode212I want one in a few years.
@@Lola-AreaCode212you look good but plastic tbh if that's you in your picture
I don’t see a fall in lip fillers at all. They are alive and well and everywhere
Oh I hope we’re getting back to naturalism.
I really despise that duck lip look. Natural is much better.
I remember an acquaintance in the mid 90s getting lip filler. I remember thinking that was unusual.
I have always had full lips and remember when I was young, hated that. I have never worn lipstick because of that. 🤷🏻♀️
I do think the overfilled look is STARTING to be on its way out, but most people do still have a lot of filler. Also, I think a lot of people (celebrities) that are desolving their filler are doing it in order to get face lifts. Rumors are that Kylie just got a face lift.
In the 80s they did surgery where they made cuts in the middle of the top lip and used collagen and implants think Michelle phifer
Wow that’s wild
I feel like every decade has two sides: the clean or earthy side versus a glam or rock side.
My best friend was getting fillers and told me she wanted to change the shape of her lips. I finally got through to her that fillers wouldn't do that. She stopped getting filler.
Moshi
Vintage lip shapes are always in style
Vintage lip shapes? You mean natural, real mouths?
i don’t care what’s in and out of fashion. i like lip fillers regardless sorry 🤷♀️
I never understood lip fillers anyway. What's so beautiful about looking like Donald Duck or looking like that fish that always vacuuming the glass walls in the fish tank?
Fillers arnt pretty. Also the overlined lip trend can go away once and for all! it looks like a sloppy juice mustache. Emphasis on the cupids bow looks so much better than drawing way over the lip line.
This the decade of the unilip, ethnic appropriation.
God bless beautiful European lips, let's get them back away from the rubber lip brigade! 👄💄🥰
I feel sick when I see the needle in the lips 🙈🙈🙈
I absolutely hated the plump, pouty Angelina Jolie Lips coz it kinda looked like swollen Chicken ass😅 and literally almost all the Fans and Followers of this Thick-Lips Craze literally looked identical with each other. And just by watching them display their inflated Lips on Instagram or Tiktok, you can really tell that they had some work done
So happy I never fell for this B.S. and have always been contented with my small Lips💋 with a naturally defined Cupid's Bow❤😊
It'll only be over if its proven to be a carcinogen
It is painfull to get lip filler
There lips look so crazy 😅I have very thin lips 😊would never think about having fish lips ever lol 😅 thanks for sharing 😊great video as always 😊
Never liked the balloon lips.
I miss seeing natural lips. They're so feminine and beautiful. Filler lips looks drag like amd masculine
💋💋💋💋💋💋
I wish thin lips were in. lol.
I'm sorry, I don't feel sorry for anyone who feels a need to look like a trout and ends up paying for their vanity and stupidity.
Unpopular opinion, but I prefer plastic beauty. Watching movies from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s really is jarring because the so called "hot people" look so ordinary and pedestrian. Like I could be the it girl back then and all I have is facial filler lol.
But you couldn't have been the it girl back then because big lips weren't fashionable. What is 'hot' changes. That's why you think those people were ordinary, but just wait. One day there will be a new beauty standard, and people will wonder why women with lip filler were ever thought to be hot.
It is jarring when you aren’t used to it. When I watch older movies pre Botox I’m surprised by how much movement people have in their face
Please watch a Victoria s Secret runway show circa 1995! I’m sure they would have been scared of you!!! 😂😂😂
I have the opposite impression. I hate this done look and Kardashian style makeup.
80s was awful lol
