I just want to say how good a job Sandi is doing hosting the show. I was a bit worried it would die once Stephen left, but I think she's doing a great job filling his shoes

Shawn Robert Doyle it's so nice and refreshing to see this comment for once instead of the usual, "the show is trash now," that I see so often on these videos. Sandy is doing a marvelous job.

Sandi is a fantastic successor to Stephen. They each hosted the show in their own unique way. Sandi's QI is a much more relaxed affair, yet still full of information and tons of laughs.

+kisbie As far as I know, they're friends as well as collegues - besides having worked together several times when Sandi was hosting The News Quiz, she attended Susan's wedding, and possibly the other way round, not sure exactly how long they've known each other - so it's more good-natured ribbing amongst friends than just a random jab. :)
And yeah, her singing can sometimes go a bit off the rails, but I've also heard her belt one out beautifully on an episode of I'm Sorry, I Haven't A Clue, so I guess it just depends. :)

I work on sets. One day Julie Andrews strode up to me on her first visit to set before she started working officially. I happened to be standing beside the director. In my career I have been around countless celebrities and never once really cared. It's just a job. As Julie Andrews stood there gushing about how happy she was to join the cast and crew, sometimes directly at me, I felt like a 7 year old. My entire childhood flooded back and if she had asked me a direct question I wouldn't have been able to speak a word. True story.

Alan was quoting lines and lyrics from the movie " the sound of music" but he was doing it in a rough accent. He was also doing it in a way filled with innuendo. Which if you've seen the movie is well out of place, for who'd be singing the lines. In most cases Julie Andrews. It was quite funny to an old fogey like myself, or in this case Sandy, who's heard all the lines before.
Think of your favorite frilly little character who's always prim and proper and then all of the sudden they sound like your chain smoking drunkard uncle when they open their mouth.
It's a shock to your senses and can make you laugh.
Comedy is like food. Everyone likes something different. Or has a different point of view they are seeing it from.
But just because I don't like bell peppers doesn't stop stores from selling them. or people from stuffing and cooking them.
My two cents, hope this helps.

Funfact: Although Sound of Music is certainly one of the films most strongly associated with Austria, very few Austrians have ever seen it. It is well known in Austria that it is very popular in the English speaking countries and also in Asia, and the tourism sector markets it accordingly, but the film itself and its songs are largely unknown within the population.

Alan was quoting lines and lyrics from the movie " the sound of music" but he was doing it in a rough northern almost cockney accent.
My two cents hope this helps.
