At this point they basically showed us the pilot episode already and given the critic reviews if you're after a new dose of Batwoman 2.0 comedy, this is going to be funny. Yeah, can't agree more. Joker was an anarchist.... he wasn't impulsive, he was calculated... insanely calculated. Able to keep up with batman in a game of wits, and win in some instances. One of the reason's Injustice went over so well, is because it was believable.
And joker's daughter is actually the daughter of another universe's Harvey's dent and Harper's brother was either gay or bisexual in the comics and if they are having him be trans only due lack of o research into the source material rather than a well thought out reason within his backstory for the show it's even more pathetic than it usually would be when screwing up a portrayal of a comic book character on tv in live action because in contrast to most dc characters portrayed on television they often have a long storied history in the medium of comic books whereas Harper's brother was introduced at the start of the new 52 continuity and that began in 2011!!!

However, he was the symptom of a sickening society. You can look at his ending from Arthur's perspective, not the Jokers, and you may think that he's weak and pathetic.... Just got lucky with the mob and his choices happened to work out. That's not really what I got though. Arthur died when he went on TV, and shot the late night host. The Joker was born. He was laughing out of joy, not out of insanity. Joy that society was finally starting to look more like him now. Joy that he wasn't alone. From that point on I can see how the real Joker would eventually become a machine of constant maniacal cynicism. If there was a Joker 2, you'd understand. That's the point where power will corrupt Arthur, and he'll let it... Because he's already gone insane. What's evil to an insane person? What he's probably going to do now is go get revenge on everyone who was ever perceived as the enemy to Arthur Fleck, everyone he's ever considered a source of greif. Since he's insane, that's going to be everyone he knows. When the dust settles, and the mov dies down, no one will remember him, and he will be considered dead or missing along with thousands of others on a night like that. Eventually his insanity will find equilibrium, and he'll think, "I need some walking shoes" then commit bizarre crimes with his loyal followers just like the OG joker.

I'm really having a hard time not believing that these companies are being purposefully sabotaged at this point. To hire the same writer responsible for repeated dumpster fires...they gotta be trying to destroy themselves right?
I love how they don't acknowledge that the problem is the people behind the project, all their previous failures are the fault of the audience and/or the source material. But this time it'll work right? Definition of insanity.
That because people still tune in rather to give it a chance or mock it. This gives network that leg room to keep shows on and "see where it goes." The only way the point will get across if no one tune in from premiere day and by the third or fourth episode network will know if we don't tune in and keep ratings so low from 0.2 below... Network still make some money and if the overturn is not showing they are loosing a lot they will keep it going. Fake Charmed is a prime example. The rating was low, but not so low for them to cancel it by second season. But by the third ratings was so low they didn't even bring it back at all after all. They had to rewrite almost an entire season just to end it.
Calling it now, Harvey Dent murdered Batman with his 2nd personality but isn't aware of it yet. In the season finale Harvey will learn this and suffer a psychotic break and set up Two-face as the big bad of season 2 (which will never happen)
I think this show's writing demonstrates what is wrong with modern 'hero' shows. The villains are the 'misunderstood' ones. In this series they are 'framed' along with the 'hero'. Modern 'hero' shows hate, and avoid the clear cut right and wrong methods of the past. They don't want right and wrong, only what feels good. It is why this drivel is not received well. We watch 'hero' shows because we want to have clear cut right and wrong lines drawn in the sand, we want action, we want good to triumph over bad. If we wanted drama, well we'd watch a drama show!

That's the problem with casting such a wide net. EXCLUSIVITY is the only way to create a really good show. But oh no, they're INCLUSIVE and that includes the dullards and all the colors of minorities. They make shows for everyone which is in reality, is for NO ONE.
they should have just made it part of the Arrowverse it would fit right in with Batwahman. the Arrowverses version of gotham and its characters is just the worst which is perfect for this show

Introduced as 'the Joker's Daughter' and then just slowly slipping along through Batman's entire rogue's gallery as their daughter... she's actually Two-Face's daughter... So, the 'claiming to be the Joker's daughter' in the trailer and playing it up horribly? Yeah... okay... had to talk myself through that one.
@@blankadams3120 She's not. She's an on again off again member/friend of the Titans. She does tend to lean more to the anti-hero side but she's not a villain. Of course these are CW writers, so whether they actually read the comics when they wrote her character is 50/50.

If you want to know how to write an insane and conflicted character, watch the episodes of Xena, where Callisto appears. But it also helps if the actor is talented. And Jokers brat looks like she’s acting hard.
I was never a fan of Xena. But I always recognized that what the show lacked in budget in made up for in heart and fantastic acting. It was campy but the writing was good. Like Batman 66. I think because of the ease of making convincing visuals these days they have substituted for any actual plot or character or decent writing. Every TV show these days is a screensaver. Occasionally accompanied by reality show or fanfiction dialogue.
Great example. Both Lucy Lawless and Hudson Leick are fantastic actresses. By which I mean they can play people _other_ than themselves - and in that show, they even played each other's characters, believably. I've just rewatched the whole of Xena with my kids and - budget constraints and later comical CGI aside - it still holds up because of the talent behind and in front of the camera.
Misha Collins, love him. As an actor. His politics are typical, but I'm glad he has the sense not to flaunt them. For that he has my deepest appreciation and respect. I think he understands, that the fans love his acting and his skills, they like the look of his expressions and his delivery of key lines. They don't necessarily like anything else about him. That's normal, and that's ok. Glad to see him doing what he does best. Wearing a trench, looking serious, and delivering lines in a gruff voice that must actually be uncomfortable at times.
It's funny to watch actually. Conservative people who were so religious in the past are clamouring for science because of this gender pronoun stuff and Liberal people who talk about being progressive have made gender into just a feeling rather than something that can be defined
Did the same people who handled the way characters become suspects for murder, as well as putting suspects in the same cell, also provide the legal research for Velma?
If you were put in a cell with other suspects you can safely assume that the police have recording devices listening in to see who clues them in on the suspect. So, saying "I did not hire you to kill my father!" can be interpreted as.... "I hired you to do something else, and you screwed up and killed my father!". But hey, the creators once watched The Usual Suspects so they know this scene will work....
I like the idea of getting the “minds” behind Batwoman together with the creators of Willow, Velma, Rings of Power, She Hulk, and other woke masterpieces! Surely, the universe will not be able to handle such a black hole of talent, charisma, intelligence, and sheer suckiness, and something like Ragnarok will ensue! Either that, or the geniuses will have a giant pool party and jump in with a plugged in hair dryer, or something…
I wonder if they're basing Joker's daughter off the story where Harley takes her baby from him and runs away. The baby is raised by Harely, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Bruce, and Robin. Would make way more sense if that is the case. Also, they don't need evidence to arrest someone who is the most to benefit from someone's death. They can arrest you while they find that evidence that proves you either did it or didn't.

For the longest time WB wouldn’t allow ANYTHING Batman related to be involved in the Arrowverse. I know the Arrowverse is done after Flash’s season but why go from not allowing anything close to Batman until Batwoman to suddenly allowing this monstrosity?
Wait, Stephanie Brown... as in, Tim Drake's girlfriend? Tim Drake, who they retconned into a gay Robin and who now prances around Gotham ranting and raving about his Bernard? "I wish Bruce hadn't died. I never got the chance to... have him meet BERNARD!!! WAAGH!" I hate DC Comics. I hate them so very much. Why even bother with her character anymore? What's the point? Also, why kill Batman again? He's the breadwinner of the DC lineup and their only consistently marketable character. They keep killing him off and then getting stuck with his often substandard henchies. They're just fools.
I remember when the movie Waterworld was released, it was considered as one of, if not thee, biggest waste of money in Hollywood history! The film was received so badly, it pretty much ended Kevin Costner's career! With the state of the industry today, Waterworld is starting to look pretty good! In fact, things are so bad, If it was released now, it would be a huge success! We didn't realise just how good we had it back then! A time when talent and ability meant something, and good films weren't considered a threat to democracy! Where did it all go so horrifically wrong!
1:05 Speaking of acting examples... I watched that clip 3 times and still had no idea what she was saying. Switching the subtitles on, they were able to work out the first part ("I became his eyes and ears" - and I can hear it's that when I _know_ the words) but even the subtitles are foxed by the second part "Hug me his little robin"?! Presumably "Called me"... ENUNCIATE, woman!
Don't hate watch it. Don't just watch a couple episodes to be able to criticize it later. Ignore it completely and make it go away! Who signs off on these shows and says "Yes, I'm happy with the quality of this and i'll proudly put my name to it."
If ignoring them was going to work, it would have a long time ago. That's how they ended up in charge of our entire culture, because people like you don't push back against them. The "Do Nothing" strategy might be tempting, but it hasn't worked yet and it isn't likely to start. Honestly, it makes me wonder if the people saying it are just afraid.

Seriously; they say it got a "40%" because 2/5 reviewers said it was "fresh". But even those two didn't give full marks; they gave 3/5 and 2.5/5. With everyone else giving 2/5 and below. So how does the math of it work out?!

Ah, it's the Epstien effect. Allow me to explain common judiciary processes, this should apply in some sense across the pond too. So, while the individual is being held up, and awaiting trial. There is a phase known as "discovery". Here in the US, the charges were brought up by the DA (District Attorney, the guy who tells the cops, who is or isn't in big trouble) based on what was already known. Once they are in custody, another investigation will be launched to find any additional information. At the same time, the culprits will be questioned while in custody. This information gets passed from the precint detectives, to the DA, to the courts. The DA checks to make sure everyone did their job correctly, and if not, tells them "this won't work, you have this long to get it fixed." which could be as simple as them taking another witness statement and remembering to follow propper procedure. If the DA doesn't do this, the case can get thrown out by the judge when the DA pushes the discoveries through. Once the judge has the discovery information, he will convene with others. For the US, again, these other's are dependant on what level of court, and what the charges are. It will usually involve their attorney, the DA or a DA appointed/plaintiff attorney, and the judge. They will go over all the information that was discovered. Your lawyer will attempt to obtain copies of what they need, and a court date is usually set before they leave. Sometimes the case gets dropped right then if the plaintiff party concedes that there isn't sufficient evidence to obtain a conviction. This ultimately just depends on the lawyer though. After this, your lawyer has typically 24-72 hours to convene and strategize with you, the defendant. This is where you will build your case, and prove your innocence. If you are, in-fact, guilty... this is where your lawyer will try to provide you with avenues of focus, and a ...somewhat slimy... but good lawyer, will lay their cards on the table for you to let you know how they are going to try and win the case anyways. So, in summary (where's my "more you know" rainbow), killing them soon after they get into the jailhouse is the smatest move if someone wants to cover up a conspiracy. Otherwise IT WILL get sniffed out. Least hee in America. The judge WILL stumble across it just by accident, and then you have one of two choices... attempt to bribe a judge, or attempt to whack a judge... whole lot harder than killing some kids in a jail cell. Or an Epstien for that matter.... There is also what's known as a "chilling effect"... where you essentially scare a bunch of people because the main culprit just got whacked... inside of a jail house... That's a clear sign of, "talk, and this is what happens." A lot of people wisely... or perhaps cowardly... they just clam up after that. Even the media will stop reporting on it for a few weeks after the initial report.

In defense (and I can not BELIEVE I am typing this for a disaster such as this) of the 'the character I play is a major spoiler'... Steph's code name is Spoiler, so I think that they'd doing the same thing with her that they are with Harvey (he's two-faced) and the like otherwise, 100% agree with your video and good LORD I suspect this is going to be, somehow, more of a flop than Batwoman
Back in the first couple of season of Gotham it was petty good then it went off the crazy train to the nth degree, this show never had a chance. That and the comic book saturation is at a an all time peak

Can we please not just watch it during its premiere. If this show gets the most lowest numbers I think this will show the people at CW that enough is enough. Regardless if people watch it to give it a chance or to mock it if the ratings are a decent number, CW wins. We need to start showing these networks we want quality and well-written stories by hitting them in their ratings on premiere night. Please do not watch it on premiere night.
7:46 - wait - my brain hurts. in this story, they think the only beneficiary of Bruce Wayne's last will and testament killed him for the money? because this sole beneficiary might have been written out??? who'd Bruce give it to then? doesn't seem like anyone else is on that long list of recipients. Sure Bruce might donate it all to charity, but was the relationship between father and son really that bad that Bruce had to consider doing that rather than providing for his only family???? going to need some real strong evidence for that - and yet, knowing CW level writing, they probably arrested him without said evidence...

I hope you read this 'cause I'd really like to know what your thoughts are about my take on not only this, but this past year of cinematic catastrophies. Honestly, being 40, a writer, publisher and editor with some years of experience behind me, and a generally stressed individual, I cannot laugh at this crap anymore. And it's not that it's simply not funny to see disaster after disaster, but it's actually concerning and scary that the public - and even critics like the Drinker - praise terrible shows like House of the Dragon simply because they are above the standard set by everything else. I'm not going to argue HoD's qualities (or lack of) because it would take too long, but just compare it, episode by episode, with season 1 of Game of Thrones and you'll know see what I mean. But going back to my point, it is terrifying to see this massive problem of standards plummeting and the audiences praising mediocre productions, even more so for someone like me, who has been dealing with this issue for years in the literary spheres. For about 5 years now especially, the market's been flooded with Young Adult authors, who can barely write their own names, let alone coherently and with enough talent to qualify as art. Now this issue is painfully obvious with movies and TV shows, and while I think it's fun and good content to laugh at it, there should also be some signaling of a terrible danger - that of turning entire generations into functional idiots with no appreciation of quality.

I think this show's writing demonstrates what is wrong with modern 'hero' shows. The villains are the 'misunderstood' ones. In this series they are 'framed' along with the 'hero'. Modern 'hero' shows hate, and avoid the clear cut right and wrong methods of the past. They don't want right and wrong, only what feels good. It is why this drivel is not received well. We watch 'hero' shows because we want to have clear cut right and wrong lines drawn in the sand, we want action, we want good to triumph over bad. If we wanted drama, well we'd watch a drama show!

Introduced as 'the Joker's Daughter' and then just slowly slipping along through Batman's entire rogue's gallery as their daughter... she's actually Two-Face's daughter... So, the 'claiming to be the Joker's daughter' in the trailer and playing it up horribly? Yeah... okay... had to talk myself through that one.
They eventually settled on her being the daughter of Earth-3s heroic versions of Joker and Two-Face (Two Face is a woman in that universe).

Yes!!! She was one of my favorite characters.
I was never a fan of Xena. But I always recognized that what the show lacked in budget in made up for in heart and fantastic acting.
It was campy but the writing was good. Like Batman 66.
I think because of the ease of making convincing visuals these days they have substituted for any actual plot or character or decent writing.
Every TV show these days is a screensaver. Occasionally accompanied by reality show or fanfiction dialogue.
Great example. Both Lucy Lawless and Hudson Leick are fantastic actresses. By which I mean they can play people _other_ than themselves - and in that show, they even played each other's characters, believably. I've just rewatched the whole of Xena with my kids and - budget constraints and later comical CGI aside - it still holds up because of the talent behind and in front of the camera.
The character might be absolutely awful, but at least she's _trying._
Even Castiels angel powers can't save entertainment.

Misha Collins, love him. As an actor. His politics are typical, but I'm glad he has the sense not to flaunt them. For that he has my deepest appreciation and respect. I think he understands, that the fans love his acting and his skills, they like the look of his expressions and his delivery of key lines. They don't necessarily like anything else about him. That's normal, and that's ok.
Glad to see him doing what he does best. Wearing a trench, looking serious, and delivering lines in a gruff voice that must actually be uncomfortable at times.

If you were put in a cell with other suspects you can safely assume that the police have recording devices listening in to see who clues them in on the suspect.
So, saying "I did not hire you to kill my father!" can be interpreted as.... "I hired you to do something else, and you screwed up and killed my father!".

I wonder if they're basing Joker's daughter off the story where Harley takes her baby from him and runs away. The baby is raised by Harely, Catwoman, Poison Ivy, Bruce, and Robin. Would make way more sense if that is the case.
Also, they don't need evidence to arrest someone who is the most to benefit from someone's death. They can arrest you while they find that evidence that proves you either did it or didn't.

For the longest time WB wouldn’t allow ANYTHING Batman related to be involved in the Arrowverse. I know the Arrowverse is done after Flash’s season but why go from not allowing anything close to Batman until Batwoman to suddenly allowing this monstrosity?

1:05 Speaking of acting examples... I watched that clip 3 times and still had no idea what she was saying. Switching the subtitles on, they were able to work out the first part ("I became his eyes and ears" - and I can hear it's that when I _know_ the words) but even the subtitles are foxed by the second part "Hug me his little robin"?! Presumably "Called me"... ENUNCIATE, woman!

EDIT: Did you look at the actual ratings though? Seriously; they say it got a "40%" because 2/5 reviewers said it was "fresh". But even those two didn't give full marks; they gave 3/5 and 2.5/5. With everyone else giving 2/5 and below. So how does the math of it work out?!

Allow me to explain common judiciary processes, this should apply in some sense across the pond too.
So, while the individual is being held up, and awaiting trial. There is a phase known as "discovery".
Here in the US, the charges were brought up by the DA (District Attorney, the guy who tells the cops, who is or isn't in big trouble) based on what was already known. Once they are in custody, another investigation will be launched to find any additional information. At the same time, the culprits will be questioned while in custody.
This information gets passed from the precint detectives, to the DA, to the courts. The DA checks to make sure everyone did their job correctly, and if not, tells them "this won't work, you have this long to get it fixed." which could be as simple as them taking another witness statement and remembering to follow propper procedure. If the DA doesn't do this, the case can get thrown out by the judge when the DA pushes the discoveries through.
Once the judge has the discovery information, he will convene with others. For the US, again, these other's are dependant on what level of court, and what the charges are. It will usually involve their attorney, the DA or a DA appointed/plaintiff attorney, and the judge. They will go over all the information that was discovered. Your lawyer will attempt to obtain copies of what they need, and a court date is usually set before they leave. Sometimes the case gets dropped right then if the plaintiff party concedes that there isn't sufficient evidence to obtain a conviction. This ultimately just depends on the lawyer though.
After this, your lawyer has typically 24-72 hours to convene and strategize with you, the defendant. This is where you will build your case, and prove your innocence. If you are, in-fact, guilty... this is where your lawyer will try to provide you with avenues of focus, and a ...somewhat slimy... but good lawyer, will lay their cards on the table for you to let you know how they are going to try and win the case anyways.
So, in summary (where's my "more you know" rainbow), killing them soon after they get into the jailhouse is the smatest move if someone wants to cover up a conspiracy. Otherwise IT WILL get sniffed out. Least hee in America. The judge WILL stumble across it just by accident, and then you have one of two choices... attempt to bribe a judge, or attempt to whack a judge... whole lot harder than killing some kids in a jail cell.
Or an Epstien for that matter....
There is also what's known as a "chilling effect"... where you essentially scare a bunch of people because the main culprit just got whacked... inside of a jail house... That's a clear sign of, "talk, and this is what happens." A lot of people wisely... or perhaps cowardly... they just clam up after that. Even the media will stop reporting on it for a few weeks after the initial report.

Sure Bruce might donate it all to charity, but was the relationship between father and son really that bad that Bruce had to consider doing that rather than providing for his only family???? going to need some real strong evidence for that - and yet, knowing CW level writing, they probably arrested him without said evidence...

I hope you read this 'cause I'd really like to know what your thoughts are about my take on not only this, but this past year of cinematic catastrophies. Honestly, being 40, a writer, publisher and editor with some years of experience behind me, and a generally stressed individual, I cannot laugh at this crap anymore. And it's not that it's simply not funny to see disaster after disaster, but it's actually concerning and scary that the public - and even critics like the Drinker - praise terrible shows like House of the Dragon simply because they are above the standard set by everything else. I'm not going to argue HoD's qualities (or lack of) because it would take too long, but just compare it, episode by episode, with season 1 of Game of Thrones and you'll know see what I mean. But going back to my point, it is terrifying to see this massive problem of standards plummeting and the audiences praising mediocre productions, even more so for someone like me, who has been dealing with this issue for years in the literary spheres. For about 5 years now especially, the market's been flooded with Young Adult authors, who can barely write their own names, let alone coherently and with enough talent to qualify as art. Now this issue is painfully obvious with movies and TV shows, and while I think it's fun and good content to laugh at it, there should also be some signaling of a terrible danger - that of turning entire generations into functional idiots with no appreciation of quality.
The only thing most of these character have in common with their comic book counterpart id the name, they seem to have nothing else in common.
This looks amazing, like all cw masterpieces.
