1:27 In the 70's - 2000's, networks use to cancel shows if the viewership fell to 10 million and lower. We're talking about shows that use to pull in, say, 20-70+ million during their prime. They threw that all out the window when just having content on their service was more important that quality and viewership. 1.86 million viewers would have been deemed a catastrophe for a show and the network.
When Firefly got cancelled, it was "only" pulling in about 4.5-4.7 million viewers per episode. And that's after Fox was jerking it around, repeatedly changing the night it was on, playing episodes out of order, preempting the show for something else, etc. 4.5 million viewers for a modern CW show would be hailed as a world-shattering triumph and paraded through the streets.
Yea they tell themselves “well streaming is so popular and some people are waiting for the season to end so they can binge watch it” which is true but still people are only willing to do this for GOOD shows not filth like these what a bunch of morons
"I have another dead name for you... Bruce Wayne!" Thats such a good line, actually, but they use it as another insult. Why? It's a very good transition from the awkward trans topic back to the murder case. If they had continued with the interrogation after it no one would make a fuss about the trans topic, because it would be a set up for this line.
the problem about the "dead name" part is that the writers of the show ACTUALY think that is subtle. Because to them direct would have been the character straight up saying. "Btw I'm trans and I prefer he/them". those people don't understand subtle.
Subtle for these people is usually the most un-subtle thing ever. "I dropped some subtle hints that they should think about remodeling their house... so I crashed a car into it, lit it on fire, and then pissed on the ashes."
The modern audience they are seeking is the narcissistic modern viewer. The writers are narcissists and they think everyone else is. Having characters who have a moral code, who are selfless, is anathema to them. This is why stories like Druss the Legend cannot be turned into a series. They have morals. They have characters who see they are only a part of a larger whole. Things like the "Iron Code" are not what modern writer is capable of understanding. This is why many still read, we enjoy characters who seek more than themselves.
It's not great to generalize all modern writers. It is valid to generalize most modern CW writers, I don't think any good writer wants to be associated with the CW.
@Frog Salesman true. Yet for most screenwriting currently the trend is fir CW style writers. Rangs of Power for instance. However, Asian writers are producing some fantastic work.
Narcissists make for awful characters. There's no dynamic there other than serving themselves and blaming everyone for their mistakes. Who wants to read that crap.
She Hulk and Captain Marvel comes to mind--you don't even need to spot some subtle clues of narcissism, they practically reek of it while also revealing to us the narcissism of their makers. The saying of good fiction reveals truths about the world while bad fiction reveals truths about their author has never been truer in this age.

I'll be honest, I completely forgot this show was even a thing until this video popped up in my UA-cam suggestions. Glad to know that my first assumption about this show being an absolute dumpster fire was correct when I saw the trailer many months ago. Best of luck, Gotham Knights TV show; I think you're really going to need it.
What the CW doesn't understand about batman is that the whole point is what if there really was a billionaire who was on the people's side, putting his money where his mouth was and didn't actively take credit for because he actually cared. That's why he doesn't kill and more than that, he goes out of his way to make sure no one dies because "even the bad guys have families" said by Bruce in batman year one. The CW and Zach Snyder doesn't get what makes not just batman, but a lot of these characters so special.
It's on 57 audience score now and it will keep falling as more people watch it. Won't be surprised if it ends on parity with the critic's scores eventually around 20-25 percent.

Because a lot of modern comics are written by angry, bitter people who hate the industry they work in. So they write characters with the mindset of "What would I do if I had these powers", and the characters come across as extremely non-heroic, and more like villains themselves.
We stopped watching US TV a LONG time ago. Korean shows just fill up most of our watchlists. They’re good, but if they’re bad you know they END in like, 16 episodes usually. So you aren’t investing YEARS into characters, and actors can go on to other projects and grow, show their range. One guy we first saw in a show where he was a serial killer, then the next one he was the lead in a comedy, then he was a special operative in an action show, like the dude has RANGE.
I recomend Superman and Lois, they respect the source material and the interactions of Clark needing to be both a hero and father makes for some great drama. Even if Season 2 dragged out a bit longer then it should have

The writers for the comics from DC found out. The company is launching a new publishing initiative and I read an interview that featured a bunch of the writers talking about what's coming up. Almost none of the hires done strictly for diversity were featured. People like Megan Fitzmartin can go back back to fanfic sites to write their stories of male characters fucking each other for all the other suburban chronic masturbaters to flick their beans to.
Depends on what you genre you are into. Tons of dramas available. If you aren't zombie'd out, All Of Us Are Dead is good. If you like something with a supernatural element, The Uncanny Counter is good.
Chinese shows are funny because everyone calls eachother aunt, brother, sister, uncle without even being releated so you never know who is actually releated and who is not xD Guy: "She is my sister" then proceeds to kiss her Ok... wtf?
That was a very insightful review. It is simultaneously maddening and depressing what these utter incompetents are doing with the priceless gifts they have been bequeathed.
Try reading the actual comics, where characters like Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman have been published continuously for 80 years. I swear the writers hate superheroes, hate superhero fans and hate everyone who has ever written a superhero story. _Dark Crisis: Young Justice_ legitimately pissed me off it was hateful. The writer actually has one character, a former superhero named Arrowette, call her supposed friends Superboy, Robin and Kid Flash "three privileged idiots". Superboy is a clone of Superman who literally had no childhood. He was created in a lab to be a superhero and has done that and actually died saving the planet during _Infinite Crisis._ That's some amazing "privilege".

The irony of saying that Batman is a billionaire who beats up poor people, when mostly what he does is dismantle organized crime, and fight supervillains. I don't get it; why they stubbornly keep making those Batman shows without Batman - where Dark Knight either left Gotham or is dead? They try to make this idea work for at last 20 years, since failed "Birds of prey" TV show was first released and yet they keep doing the same thing and expecting different results...
Really quick rewrite: Batman's dead, sure, and several separate characters who don't know each other take up the cowl. Each one playing on a different part of the Batman mythos, and hating the others for taking up the wrong part of the story. Kind of like a set of Batman religions infighting. Hire several different Robins, each playing up the Bat persona so Gotham doesn't know exactly what happened to the Bat. Sure, bring the Court of Owls into it, maybe they killed the Bat, maybe they didn't, but you can be damn sure they are going to test each new variant of Batman that pops up, and maybe take encouraging pupils under their wing.

All the franchises and IPs keep hiring people who hate the source material, hate the project that they are working on, and the fans. And then they wonder why nobody is watching it.
8 hours after this video came out, the critic score has stayed at 18%, while the audience score has dropped to 52%; I suspect the audience score will continue to drop until it settles at the Batwoman level.
Since you mentioned that Jensen Ackles was supposed to play Batman but was unable due to contract, that sounds to me like they were trying to get fans of Supernatural. Which tells me somebody in the "writer's room" knew this would bomb without help 🤣
CW’s recipe for a great Batman show - (1)Kill Batman (or at least an alternative version); (2)Say Batman is a murderer; (3)Play diversity bingo; (4)Twisted morality - e.g., using a trans murder suspect’s name from the birth certificate is worse than murder; (5)Attack anyone who dares to criticize the show; 6)Keep pretending the show has … viewers; (7)Get cancelled, and then promoted to ruin the next show! Sounds about right for a network barely worth the $0 it sold for…
What i dont understand, there are so many fine book writers in the world> Crime, Sci-Fi, comics, fantasy etc. , but Hollywood just cant dig up, just one useful skilled writer who CAN write a decent screen play. ?
Imagine you have a refrigerator filled with the leftovers of your favorite meals. Different tastes, different styles of cooking but all your favorites. So, one night you take several edibles of high potency and the idea comes to mind to dump all the meals in a crockpot, because; Hey! If you loved these taste treats separately, they have to incredible mixed together. Each container, plate and tray of your delights are put into the crockpot. Because you’re now hungry, you set it on high, so it will heat up faster. Then you take more edibles and you pass out. When you wake up the next morning, you have another gummy and realize you haven’t checked the crockpot. You see it’s a little drier, so you add water and on the spur of the moment, toss in a few things from the cabinet. You’re not sure what it will do to the mixture, but hey! What the hell? And each time you check on it, its eye-watering aroma filling the air around you, you pop another edible and go, ‘Naw. Needs to cook a little more.’ And this goes on for the next week. And for another week after that. Continuously heating what is now overcooked and spoiled dinners that you think will be fantastic! Then serve. This is ‘Gotham Knights’.
I think that's what people call their original names when they change their names. Transgenders always change their first name to their favorite other-sex name.
That was a great analysis and summary of Hollywood's deplorable viewpoints and actions. Talk about "...saying the words I never said." lol Good job, mate!!
The cast of supernatural are way too good for this tripe, but I guess a paycheck's a paycheck. Can't blame em really, everyone who played in supernatural was awesome.
Ok, I get that WB wants to save Batman for the movies cause that's their cash cow. But what's with all the Batman shows without Batman? Birds of Prey, Batwoman, Pennyworth etc. Since they can't use the character, they gotta come up with some sort of excuse as to why he's not around. If they can't use the character, don't do it then. That's like wanting to do a Fantastic Four show, but not having the rights to all 4 characters and creating an annoying robot to take the place of one of the characters. So they can use the name The Fantastic Four. Otherwise, it would be The Terrific Three.
To me they really missed a chance here to do something cool if I had written the thing it would have spent at least 5 episodes building up to Batmans death with the Death being a massive rooftop to rooftop pitched battle with the court of Owls and Deathstroke closing in I mean Batman deserved to go out in a Bat-Blaze of glory not fade away...sorry for the rant 🦇
You don't get "representation points" when you spend excessive amounts of time and energy pointing out what you did, and break your arm patting yourself on the back for it. That's how NOT to do it. See also Rings of Power. How to do it right? Watch "The Batman" again, and notice that it is, in fact, a black man playing Commissioner Gordon. The filmmakers didn't draw attention to this, they just cast experienced and excellent character actor Jeffrey Wright, and let him be excellent. And people liked that movie a great deal. Funny how that works.
6:40 Maybe that's why Batman is dead. They couldn't get Jensen Ackles to play him so decided to pitch him through a window rather than recast the part. I know that's probably not true...... but I'm grasping for a *good* explanation.
I paused it and read the whole thing and I think it really could be. there is slightly too much detaqil for it to definitely be an AI script, but it is certainly possible. But even if it isn't, it is extremely fake. it is trying way to hard to try to make the show seem, not just a good watch, but legitimately awe inspiring. I can't imagine even the legitimate fans thinking this was anything more than ok.
Consider this: today's writers realize that they don't know how they can improve on the old stories; so, in a magnanimous gesture to future writers, they are lowering the bar.
I do seriously wonder how long writers are allowed to work on scripts. It's not always the case that these writers are completely moronic in story-telling but some of them are. Seriously what is happening to script writing? Like I go back and watch films/TV series where the budget on some projects was pretty much pennies compared with todays budgets are and most of them had solid story telling. There were character arcs that happened in a single episode or big plots that unravelled over a few. Now yes there were obviously small plot holes or continuity errors etc in films and TV series back then. Some older shows being just god awful. The mediocre shows weren't amazing in quality and often the CG and VFX were eye blinding but still they had solid fountain in the writing/story and the problem was in those smaller details. A metaphor for modern story telling in TV and film would be like watching someone build a skyscraper on quicksand. Yes some of the flashy details like CG, costume + set design, VFX, Sound Effects etc are solid but the foundation of the story (Aka writing) is just non-existent. I wouldn't be shocked if you told me these scripts were produced the night before filming and they just hand the actors a list of bullet points.
During the interrogation I almost broke down in tears.... BECAUSE THESE BASTARDS ARE FROM WOKIE WOKEVILLE!!! Apparently you can't deed name potential killers in Gotham. Yeah, Gotham so scary..... UM, that is not GOTHAM!
This scene was my breaking point in realizing this was not going to pretend to be good. You have decent interrogations with relevant information for Batkid and Duela, then the other 2's scenes are just "this is what minority they're representing" and that's basically the only information they get in the entire episode.
I lost all respect for Misha the second he said the phrase "Don't dead name him" and then "leave the room". I know he is acting a part, but Misha you agreed to that bc you are on that train. Gone.
Fascinating seeing these writers try to create relatable/ likable characters...and fail miserably (they can't even write established characters with mountains of cannon 😂)
The biggest problem with these shows is that the writers are awful. When working with legacy characters, that legacy has to be respected. On top of that, if you're going to make the show about new characters, you need to be able to transition older characters into mentor roles while introducing new characters to be likable. The fact that these kids are introduced as criminal punks with ties to bigger criminals in Gotham is already a huge mistake. However, that can still work if you can make them somehow forced into this role unwillingly. But, that is not the case here. They willingly choose to be bad. This immediately makes them unlikable. They're neither heroes nor vigilantes. Compare that to people who did successfully inherit Bruce's legacy at one point or another, Terry McGinnis and Dick Grayson. Even the comic book version of Carrie is more suited as she became an independent hero like Nightwing. Killing Batman off and having these kids take over all his stuff is immediately problematic. It means you're not going to have a peaceful transition of power where Batman is incapacitated somehow and is forced to take on a mentor role to guide these hooligans. Not only that, but you have to elevate them to the point where they're going to be able to defeat someone who was able to take down Batman. Unfortunately, the first episode already depicts everyone as incompetent. No matter how this ends, Batman is going to look like an idiot and the people who brought down Batman are going to be brought down by a group of incompetent teens.
From your review of ep1 I can certainly see why both the RT score and the viewcounts are as low as they are. They could have found a better actor for Batman Jr, but the ones for Jokerette and her 2 accomplices are even worse. Maybe all the good young actors were scared off by the atrocious script, lol. As you said, their best hope for good press is having Misha Collins, to get the Castiel fans on board- but the fact he's Harvey Dent does not bode well for his character! Also, it's pretty telling that the showmakers themselves are using him as "bait"- as though they know deep down that the Gen Z-targeted identity politics stuff isn't going to do the trick.
3:41 An AI wrote that review. Lacks specifics and is just a word salad like Howard Stern radio show where he’ll talk about the smallest detail for hours to avoid “dead air.”😂

Way more shows these days tbf
Yea they tell themselves “well streaming is so popular and some people are waiting for the season to end so they can binge watch it” which is true but still people are only willing to do this for GOOD shows not filth like these what a bunch of morons
I lost it when Disparu responded to them saying “I just want to take up space”
And if you ask them to take up less space, it's "fatphobia" in Hollywood.^
"Delightful. And what else do you bring to the table beyond filling space?"
Waiting... and waiting...
"I have another dead name for you... Bruce Wayne!"
Thats such a good line, actually, but they use it as another insult. Why? It's a very good transition from the awkward trans topic back to the murder case. If they had continued with the interrogation after it no one would make a fuss about the trans topic, because it would be a set up for this line.
I would have "made a fuss" about it, if by that you mean pointing it out.
the problem about the "dead name" part is that the writers of the show ACTUALY think that is subtle.
Furthermore, wtf even is a “dead name”? More made up super libtard nonsense…

CW couldnt paid the critics any longer.
Surprised they got 44% with a deadnaming joke.
More like: I wish you plague, & for your parrot to choke on an elderberry...
i mean if Disparu gonna review it,we'll watch it,anyway, even if we don't know a thing about the show/movie because it's gonna be fun ride!
The most astonishing thing about this show is that the characters are 15. I know this is typical with live action, but man, they had me fooled.
I honestly don't mind. I am only watching it for the lols. I have no expectation it will be any good, but if it is so bad it is funny... I am all in.
I never buy any of these people being fifteen. They, at their most youthful-looking, could pass for 20-somethings...
Why this creepy obsession with teenagers in Hollywood? It's not subtle.
@@crakhaed Because Hollywood, Disney, and D.C. are all comprised of child-groomers and pedos. The message 🌈
Here's a message 🖕
Media continuing to push woke projects over and over and over again is like Mac from 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' trying to use a Dave & Busters Powercard at TGI Fridays and not understanding why it doesn't work.
CW lives by the saying that, lunacy is doing the same thing again and again, and expecting a different result.
Those kids and their daddy issues reminded me of the Scotish character Dave Landau played in a skit. He's dancing in circles singing, "I luv me kilt" then an announcer speaks with him. He says, "I was never one for readin', me father beat me every Sunday". The announcer simply says, "Thats great!",
One of the things thats been annoying me with modern comics is they seem to play more into the criminal fantasy then the hero one.
Even if Season 2 dragged out a bit longer then it should have
do you have any good kdrama recommandations? i just finished the glory (its so good and the end is so satisfying) but i don’t know what to watch now 😢

It's actually an epic piss takes from the writers to see how bad they can be without being called out.
No. They're true believers, religious zealots, that think success and adoration are owed to them for their courage in taking on the social institutions and cultures of oppression.

No, it's propaganda for a metal disorder.
I second that about Korean shows. Been watching a lot of shows from Korea, China, and Japan recently.
Any good interesting ones?
Any Recommendations?
Depends on what you genre you are into. Tons of dramas available. If you aren't zombie'd out, All Of Us Are Dead is good. If you like something with a supernatural element, The Uncanny Counter is good.
I enjoyed the historical drama Dae Jo-yeong
Chinese shows are funny because everyone calls eachother aunt, brother, sister, uncle without even being releated so you never know who is actually releated and who is not xD
Guy: "She is my sister" then proceeds to kiss her
Ok... wtf?
It kind of mirrors real life, in a way - the police are spending more time on lecturing people about "dead naming" than fighting crime...
Not a superhero show, not an action show, not a detective series, not a crime drama, not a teen drama. It is nothing.
@@BiggieTrismegistus These ingrates worship diversity without having even the smallest comprehension of what true diversity is. Even the word "hispanic" is racist, as well as the newer appellation LatinX, ignoring the ethnic diversity of the Baja from the Yucatan, Oaxaca from Nuevo Leon, Izabal from Suchitepequez. It's like, Ok, Batman is dead and we're going to replace him with B-list super heroes. That alone sounds like a set up for failure.
When they fall into a casting of someone that people liked in another show which a ton of people did love, but that doesn’t make people like shows.
Wow! Who could've seen this coming? 🤔🤔🤔
I just watched three commercials in a row with a female spokesperson with all the answers as the men watch with slack-jawed idiocy.
The irony of saying that Batman is a billionaire who beats up poor people, when mostly what he does is dismantle organized crime, and fight supervillains. These aren't exactly people stealing bread in order to feed their families. Meanwhile, Bruce Wayne, through Wayne Enterprises runs homeless shelters, and job placement for the poor.
I think you’re correct that the dichotomy between the two in ratings proves the critics are only honest when it doesn’t matter.
Sure, bring the Court of Owls into it, maybe they killed the Bat, maybe they didn't, but you can be damn sure they are going to test each new variant of Batman that pops up, and maybe take encouraging pupils under their wing.
that's an awesome take! too bad these days CW don't have any capable writers to execute such appealing idea.

I’m pretty sure some TV shows and movies forbid you from acting in other things during production. Actors agree to it when signing the contract
I love that the audience score dropped by 3% from the start of this video to two minutes in.
Yeah, ‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’ was a superb drama, and Park Eun-Bin is now massively popular. I prefer K-dramas, anime or ANYTHING that isn’t ‘Batwoman’ or ‘Gotham Knights’. The audience score is down to 51%, because watching children acting like children is too much, even for Zoomers.
Which tells me somebody in the "writer's room" knew this would bomb without help 🤣

lmfao "gossip girl" well done great review

Needs to cook a little more.’
And this goes on for the next week. And for another week after that. Continuously heating what is now overcooked and spoiled dinners that you think will be fantastic!
Then serve.
This is ‘Gotham Knights’.
It’s weird how Hollywood hates anything masculine… all while trying to make every female character as masculine as possible…
To the point where they parade around a woman who has surgically mutilated herself to look like a man to cover her insecurities.
Without this video I wouldnt have ever known this show even existed.
Thanks to Gotham Knights I actually kinda get WB's Refusal to use Batman in Live Action TV.
I'm going to go with Jack the Joker's opinion of Gotham... "This town needs an enema!"
I'm pleased to say I have no idea what a "dead name" is supposed to be.
I think that's what people call their original names when they change their names. Transgenders always change their first name to their favorite other-sex name.

i dont think it will
If Batwoman got a season two I don't know what it takes to not get a second season for a CW show.

I think so. Look what happened to Mindy Kaling’s Velma. The show is travesty yet it gets second season.
"Look, everyone, we've got one." LOL. Sad but true. That so nails this insane mentality.
We must remember that, in Hollywood, 10 is the new 16 (Naomi).
I know that's probably not true...... but I'm grasping for a *good* explanation.
i didnt even know this show existed till today, so thats a good sign
You're on fire in this one.

That long review you mentioned could be an AI creation. Feels that way.
Excellent video Disparu!
Consider this: today's writers realize that they don't know how they can improve on the old stories; so, in a magnanimous gesture to future writers, they are lowering the bar.
The modern audience must have been lobotomized to enjoy shows like this
I do seriously wonder how long writers are allowed to work on scripts.

This scene was my breaking point in realizing this was not going to pretend to be good. You have decent interrogations with relevant information for Batkid and Duela, then the other 2's scenes are just "this is what minority they're representing" and that's basically the only information they get in the entire episode.

Well said
From your review of ep1 I can certainly see why both the RT score and the viewcounts are as low as they are.
You know it's bad when your domestic audience is turning to foreign television for entertainment.
Personally I think you're being generous using the word "People" in relation to the positive reviews. Try the "AI" instead.
3:41 An AI wrote that review. Lacks specifics and is just a word salad like Howard Stern radio show where he’ll talk about the smallest detail for hours to avoid “dead air.”😂
As yourself, I have also dived head first into Korean shows. Would you happen to have any recommendations for great ones?
