If she came to me wanting to go platinum I’d refuse. I had a long term client who took very good care of her long color treated hair that was very fine in texture. She was going to Hawaii and wanted tape in extensions and I told her no, that her hair wasn’t strong enough to handle the weight of them. Another stylist in the salon agreed to do it for her and guess what? A few days into her vacation she texted me that some of the extensions, along with her hair, were falling out and I told her to contact the stylist who installed them for her. I felt bad for her and was angry at the other stylist.
That's horrible..But you warned her tho...Some people are ignorant af. .😩😧
She wanted them. So she got what she deserves. No sympathy. I wouldn't be mad at the stylist they put them in. She was told not to do it.

Wait! I had no idea your hair could fall out with tape in extensions. Her hair/roots were damaged with bleach or something? 😳
I always inform clients there will be added tennsion at the base 😖.there is added weight there😱 .no matter how light the extensions are💫..it still causes breakage at root🤯..keeping them in a while is also pulling causing loss😳..if you have fine hair ..and or a sensitive scalp.🤔.I don't recommend them..🥺..or having them in for any extended period of time.🙄.that little bit of extra added hair makes a difference🤏..💥I'd get ones you can add in yourself and are able to remove.👌.you still feel the added weight of the hair reguardless💣.. tough scalps even pay the price.😱
My son started barbering school a month ago. After the first 2 weeks I was asking how it was going, etc. So he tells me they’ve only been working on sectioning, and that “believe it or not, it’s hard mom!” Oh, I believe you. It’s the base of everything…I watch Hair Buddha, so I know! 😉
Just touched up my regrowth yesterday. All I could hear was "fine sections!!" 🤣🤣 My hair definitely looks much better now because of your videos. Thank you, Hair Buddha!!

At least she knew she’d need to do it more than once and didn’t freak out after the first bleach. That’s a step up from a lot of the home bleachers

I remember a woman whom I used to be friends with. She had a horrible bleaching accident at the hair dresser back in the 90's. She had natural dark blonde hair, extemely thick and about 1 meter long and wanted platinum too badly. The hair dresser used 40 volumes and left it on for too long. While washing out the bleach, ALL her hair fell out and she had about 2 cm length left. She told me, that was the most traumatizing visit at the hair stylist and she would wear hats and bandanas for 3 years, until she went to a professional again. Since then, her hair never really grew that thick and healthy again, only to a chin length bob. She kept that and got some highlights twice a year and only went to a hairdresser in Berlin, where she used to live as a young girl. When I got to know her in 2005, she lived in northern Germany and drove every month to Berlin to get her haircut, because she never trusted other hairdressers again. Please, don't bleach your hair at home, got to a professional, they have to go to school for 5 years in Germany. If the hair dresser tells you: I'm sorry, but you can't get to platinum, because your hair is too dark / too fine/ too damaged, believe them.
Just to make you happy, I bleach my level 7.5 hair not to platinum, but level 9 (toned with 9A) so I can dye it aquamarine. I also keep it aquamarine and am not changing it every other month. Thanks for all the info that eventually made me brave enough to bleach.

Your channel came up as a recommendation from UA-cam and I got say, after binge watching the content on this channel for a day and a half I have new found respect for hairdressers everywhere and I also need to go thank my stylist. I have been with her for years and I have a beautiful head of hair thanks to her. She's talked me out of hacking it off, dying it random bright colors, and bleaching it more times than I can count... seriously thank you Hair Budda for helping me realize what she's had to put up with over the years and thank you Hilary for preventing me from destroying my hair!

If i was remotely ok with being on camera let alone editing- i would do a video just for you and quote all the classic lines
20volume, no oil, no quick blue, fine sections, dont do the roots until you are happy with the lengths, ventilation!!

I’m not a hairdresser and I’ve messed my hair up loads of times but even I know not to use oil before bleaching or colouring😫

If you have dark dark hair buy a cute quality wig in platinum. Or go low and slow and be ok being orange for a month. Your hair is attached to your scalp, treat your scalp with love and gentle care. Blasting it in bleach again and again is not ever going be good.
I got a nice white wig when I was tempted to bleach. It's nice. In some ways, it's nicer than my actual hair.
That or do it slowly and be will to have a different color as you go towards your goal. If you can’t do that, then wigs all day!
I will never EVER go back platinum. I will definitely buy a wig if I crave to be blonde again! I am just getting my hair healthy back ☺️ bleach traumatized me at the hair salon so let alone DIY at home 😭 I could never!

Honestly I was loving her hair when it was in the orange red phase, minus those platinum roots. I bet an auburn color would be gorgeous with her skin tone
I've never been that wild on platinum hair. When I've had my hair bleached in the past, I've quite liked mid-blond with nice neutral and very slightly warm tones. I don't really get the appeal of platinum
Honestly, the end result wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be.
I was platinum blonde from age 17-26.
That was my Gwen Stephani phase.
Its amazing on the right person if its not fried.
Not everyone has the right coloring but most people can pull if some shade of blonde or bronde if its the right tone.
@@cleocatra9324 most people can pull off something in the top four or five levels. Platinum does look good on some people, but more often than not, I just don't think (emphasising that this is just my opinion) that it's very flattering.

I did platinum once at 17, it was fun but SO much work. This was also before flat irons so if I didn’t want frizzy curl everywhere I had to use an iron 😂
I agree there are SO many nice blonde colors- picking the one that suits you makes you a rock star! ❤
Early in she stated that she had gone from brown (assume it's her natural color) to black. It looks as if she had 4-6 inches of regrowth from that, judging by the strong demarcation line on her first bleaching. Shouldn't she have concentrated on removing the black from the lengths before touching any of her natural color and gotten it where she wanted before going on to the regrowth section and then lastly to her scalp? To get her hair evenly lifted she should have had 3 phases to address prior to any toning.
But at least she was saved by the purple shampoo and conditioner!😂😂

Why do these ladies do this . I wanted to go silver from black box dye for years .
What I did was take my time and gradually over 12 months with the help of my amazing hairdresser im now silver and my hair is still below shoulder length .

I’m onto my 4th or 5th session w my stylist, I went from black box dye (my horrible mistake I know) and wanted like a dirty blonde, something darker but not quite brown. She’s been doing highlights every single session so as not to absolutely destroy my hair & every single time she commends me for being so patient and kind. I always tell her I’d rather be patient than rush, don’t want breakage overload!!
You should pay yourself on the back with that one- being patient with it can be hard but SO worth it. Can’t tell you how many people came to me with black box dye, wanted blonde didn’t want to be patient went and tried it themselves because I have a rule about not destroying peoples hair and then they’d come back and want me to fix their hair which took SO much more bc they had destroyed it instead of being patient.
A part of me wants to bleach my hair using all of HB's advice: fine sections, lengths first, 20 volume developer, etc. just to see (and show) it being done right at home. But I haven't used chemicals in my hair in a very long time, and I prefer a quality human hair wig for color and style changes 🤷🏽♀️
Me I'm scared to do it also. My hair was bleached professionally, even with Olaplex and died anyway so I've given up on the bleach.

I have naturally mid-dark blonde hair and even when I got my hair platinum the stylist had to bleach twice. Never again though, it really damages.

I wanted for a long time to leave a comment on one of your videos. Can’t do fine sections since I have a buzz cut. But I’ve followed your advices and bleached my hair . I went from dark brown to blond. No hair loss and no damage hair. And I’m doing this for 3 years now. Without your advices I’m sure that my first time bleaching my hair would have been a disaster. Thank your for all the advices you’re giving in your videos.

Hi! I love your videos! I recall reading in many places that only vol 20 is safe for the scalp but you said you’re OK with her using vol 30. Does that mean vol 30 is also safe for scalp? thanks :)
20vol is much better, but I was already happy that it was not 40vol

As an on again, off again platinum blonde, I learnt only too well what can happen, even with natural medium blonde hair. Thanks to HB, I learnt better technique and am again platinum as my natural white grey is growing in patchy. As to why platinum is so popular? Probably as it's rarely, if ever, natural. And like many, I was white haired as a child and slowly went darker. I tried a med blonde to cover the grey but darker tones, as you age, can add years so back to platinum.

I followed all your advice and used 10 volume developer and got my hair from dark brown to platinum in 3 bleaches (over the course of 4 weeks not at once lol) and I have gotten so many compliments and then they find out I did it myself and they’re shocked!! My response is always yes I binged hair Buddha for a good month before touching anything hahahaha
The longer boxed dye/permanent hair dye stays in your hair the harder is to take it off from your hair

Went to Sally yesterday to grab some gloves and I overheard someone asking if the purple shampoo would help tone on her hair and the assistant at Sally said yes totally it will work I’ve done it. Of course me being me said no toner is the only way to tone your hair and not purple shampoo.

You have to remember, these people are in retail sales to push their products, not trained hairdressers. I'd have no problem telling another customer what they should be using. The retail salesperson is no used to certain products like it was an urban legend.
