I just wanted to tell you that thanks to your advice and BlondeMe, I got my natural level 3 hair to platinum blonde over the weekend, at home. Thanks so much! I couldn't have done it without you.
I bleached my box black box dyed hair and it took so many times with store box bleach . I am yellow on the top now and brassy orange on the lenghths. I am waiting for blondeme from ebay to finish getting to platinum so I can grow out my mostly white gray hair. I left the natural roots. Thank you for recommending blondeme .
There is nowhere to get hair done where I live, haircuts are done at Walmart unless you want to drive far away. Watching this guy is like watching a science professor. I don't mess with my hair but I love watching him. His knowledge is so much deeper than I would have guessed you need for hair. .I love this guy!!
Quick history lesson on hair dye was unexpected but very welcome. Another refreshing video with someone taking thier time, even doing a test strand. The red looked very good on her. ❤
I remember my color in the 80's. We had colored mousse by Paul Mitchell. I used that stuff after every shampoo. It was great. It washed out completely but it really added a lot of color and it helped you style your hair. I had forgotten how good those were.
I love when we get some hair history in HB's vids, its so interesting to hear how things have changed or even just what salons used to do and how trends have changed.
@@NuNugirl I'm 52, and have gone from naturally fire red, to strawberry blonde, cinnamon sugar to now almost totally platinum. I don't even know who I AM anymore!! Dying it red is way too much of a pain, I have to re-pigment it, then dye it, it doesn't last long and dealing with the roots it's just not worth it. If I did have another go, I'd go with henna. It never fades! I'd have to re-pigment, let it cure, do it again, snd root maintenance, but leaving a big white streak in front always looks nice, it's tempting. I get compliments on my "blonde" hair, and I'm like, "Thanks. I'm just OLD, though!" lol.
I'm not a natural red-head but it suits me and I love it. I've had red hair, almost continuously, for the last 15 years. I've been more of a natural red and bright fire-engine red but I'm in the middle now. I don't trust myself to colour my own hair and see going to the salon as a treat, since I don't spend much on other things. Any time I feel that need to do something drastic to my hair, watching your videos helps scratch that itch, until I figure out exactly what I want and make an appointment. Although, like many people I i did give in and cut my hair during COVID. I had a lot of fun with it and I'm not precious about my hair so it was a bit of a laugh. Sorry, that's a lot to read! I love watching your videos so take care and I'm looking forward to the next one. 😊❤
1. Her test strand is nothing like that box swatch 😂 2. If your red color is "bleeding" everywhere, you need to rinse until the water is clear. I find it's helpful to use a tiny amount of ckeansing shampoo when washing out the color.
I've done so many hair dye mistakes in my teenage years (even the horrible black box dye to... bleaching.... it went yellow 😂) but at one point in my life I dyed my hair red at my hairdresser and she used Goldwell's Elumen dyes. Holy moly the red was the perfect screaming red and it sticked to my hair so well that it was a job to get rid of. One friend of mine was jealous because she had the same colour in her ends as a dip dye and it didn't last even weeks, it just washed out so fast and mine got so stuck that the hairdresser used the colour remover twice (same brand) and a gentle bleach and my hair was baby pink 😆
My mom has gray hair, she let me dye it with a color depositing conditioner by IGK, that purple lasted months without any touch ups. I had did the ends, like a dip dye but I painted it on and blended it a little up the lengths, and a few face framing pieces. We both thought it wouldn't last that long because it was just a color depositing conditioner. I don't know if bleached hair absorbs color like gray hair does, but if it does, that color depositing conditioner might be good because, at least the IGK one I had, really does leave the hair hydrated.
I use natural instincts by clairol. It is a “demi permanent”. When I went natural I stopped using it because it wouldn’t color my hair anymore. They reformulated and now it will. From what I gather they are now using a 20v developer. Since Wella and Clairol are under the same umbrella I’m guessing they use the same idea like the wella toners aren’t permanent but use a 20 v developer.
You’re right about the semi permanent not being available anymore. I used to use Sebastian Cellophanes on my hair all the time in the 1980s and early 90s. Made my hair so glossy and shiny. Matrix used to have semis too. And Claudia had Jazzing. I was still able to buy the Cellophanes up until the early 2000 s and then they weren’t available anymore. Out of nostalgia, I still have some Cellophanes. Don’t have the heart to throw them out. The Clear was magic.
I use semi permanent hair colours there still avaliable to buy. The make is casting the colours last up to 28 washes. I buy them at savers superdrug sell them also boots chemists
Hi. In Poland there are so-called coloring shampoos, the color of which is washed off after a few washes. This is semi permanent coloring. For example, a series called "Marion".
Thanks for the “semi-permanent” info! I’m about 60%-70% gray, so rather than box dye, I’ve been getting a “color gloss” 1-2 times/ year recently. They say “about 24 washes”, so I was soooo impressed with how long the color was lasting! Now I feel like an idiot 😂
Ohhhh . . I love black and red hair and I do them interchangeably when I'm in the mood. As told to me by a hairdresser, once you put either of those colors in your hair, you have to wear it, especially the black. You're stuck with it until it grows out. I did manage to get red hair bleached out, and the hair dresser did a fantastic job, but it'd also been 6 months since I'd last dyed it red. No hairdresser I knew/know will touch black box died hair. they also all hate putting it in because it gets everywhere.
Red boys have fun as well 😂. I love dying my hair red and lucky a dark blonde so no bleach required. I started washing my hair with cold water since the last time I dyed it and the colour is lasting longer.
Ive gotten black box dye hair from black to level 9 in one session in 3hrs! But she had a spec of it behind her ear that rinsed into all of it!!! So i dont do other ppl's nightmares! I just did my 6yr growout 2.5feet of natural lvl 5ash w/ 40vol joico & got to lvl 11 pure white! I toned to beautiful silver platinum! About 8hrs & double 40vol process 2days.
Instant Color Rinse / Color Shampoos / Color Conditioner coats the hair and washes away in 1 to 2 shampoos. Semi-Permanent Colors diffuse into the cuticle layers and take 5 to 6 shampoos to remove. Demi-Permanent colors get into the cortex but only part way and the molecules are smaller / less complex so they diffuse out a little bit with each wash taking 20 to 30 washes to fade out. Permanent Color penetrates into the cortex and binds with the hairs proteins lasting for several weeks never fully fading away.
Yeah my hair needs moisture and then locking it in with heavy products. back in the late '90's they had a henna leave in conditioner with black pigments I used. The effect was that my hair looked just a little darker than usual, like the shade you get when it's a bit wet. It didn't stain things either but if you scratched your head it might be a little grey under your nails. I wish they still had that one, it left it so nice without any issue. Now they sell some stuff that people say stains everything.
My mom has been dying her hair dark brown for three decades to cover her gray. But she recently decided to embrace her gray hair. She had to call 15 different “color specialists” before she found one that would do a lift for her. Everyone wanted to bleach it!
I dyed my gray hair to help my job hunting. My stylist colored my hair. End result,:Two visits to the Dermatologist; steroids needed...got the job and went gray.
I would realy like to know, if i could use such a direct color or henné (Henna, khadi) on my damaged bleached light yellow hair ?! the last visit at the hairdresser was a completely disaster, with skinburns and also burned hair. luckily it doesn't fall out in clumps. for the last 5 weeks i treated my hair with keratin filler, hair masks, moisture treatment and buyed k18 already, but, now i have some white bands in my hair. 🙈I have to crow out this dameged hair, back to my natural color, which is between a light brown and a middle brown. Is there a possibilty to color my hair with Directions or Henna? maybe a cuper or red ?
I’ve already posted this before on another video, but once upon a time, many years ago (10+ years ago) I kept my hair dyed dark brown. When I was able to get my hair done again by my stylist, I wanted to start lightening it again. My stylist told me it would take time and several appointments to achieve blonde again so that we don’t fry my hair. We started with caramel color highlights (it was really pretty) and each appointment we took it lighter. It is a lot to remove layers and layers of super dark box dye and it will not be a one and done process. I personally think it’s worth spending the money to pay a professional stylist to at least bring it back to blonde (or close to it.)
I had black for over 22 years layers of it, black box dye with raven manic panic and using black shampoo also it was so black it shined lilac/blue it was odd looking back that I did that, the time came for a change about 6 years ago but it wouldn't budge 😂 but instead of paying a stylist here in NYC, they told me it would be over 500$ - 750$, I decided to take on myself it took almost 9 more to lift, 😭i tried 10 different products finally it lightened i think the salon. Would have fried my hair imo, because it was waist length too, there are many ways to get it lighter I had to research was a nightmare too btw😂
I have dyed red hair and it does bleed, but use colder water and then cold before you leave the shower and it won’t bleed all that much. Also, I see a professional💁🏽♀️
When I was a young woman, I used to have good body to my hair and it was healthy and conditioned. As I got older, my hair became wavy, then curly. It isn’t tight curls, but I can’t brush it or I it gets frizzy. It’s also on the dry side. I’ve spent hundreds of dollars on all kinds of hair moisturizers and conditioners, yet it’s still dry. What can I do and use to get and keep it conditioned and soft?
Hello I had dark brown hair colour which is black, I did a bleach bath now I'm at red, I want to go light brown shall do I do another bleach bath? My toner is light brown thanks 🙏🏻
Blue color is hard to maintain too. I had royal blue hair for like 5 days and it already faded to medium blue then a light blue then a yucky teal color so i went back to black hair dye.
I dyed for the last 20 plus years...box dye....this past January 2024, my scalp began to itch and then experience sores. I had to stop dying my hair dark brown. I tried growing out my hair naturally, but experienced the dreaded, "skunk stripe" Uh...NO, that wouldn't do I thought, so I chopped it all off. No regrets. Thank God for hair gel since I have natural curl, it truly tames my hair as I grow it out. It's a true lovely platinum/blond now. The last dye I used was Preference - L'oreal Ash blonde and it worked beautifully, HOWEVER my natural hair color was ready for this and I did a strand test before so I knew what to expect. I thought I'd miss being a brunette but honestly, I'm more than okay with my new plat. We have to "go with the flow" nothing stays the same, everything changes and sometimes for the better. Oh, and one more thing to add...her hair is in the exact same condition as mine was before I chopped it all off...dry, brittle, etc. She has the natural curl that I do as well. Curly hair is super fragile. I have battled with it my whole life from puberty....what a curse...however, we now have so many more products to tame it, moisturize and pamper it. She's younger than I am. When I was growing up, all we had was Johnson and Johnson de-tangler spray and that did NOTHING for our natural curls in high humidity where I lived in FLORIDA. Bleh !!!! I'm more than okay now... hair gel with no alcohol, that contains aloe, glycerin, etc. is best. We live, we learn fellow curly heads. Don't give up and one more thing....the finished product looks nice....reminds me of how my hair was when it was long and dyed a bit burgundy/auburn. Sweet. She has very good hair, lot of it, just like me - hey, I'm half Italian so I still have volume. I just am content with my plat...brings out my features people tell me. She looks great.
Patch test your inner arm 24 hours before each time you color. In the event of a new allergy much better in a dime size patch on skin instead of all over. ❤From someone with allergies
Why people dont use oxidative color removers or semi/demi color removers instead of bleach is BEYOND me!!!!! They are now available in regular stores for the general public to use!!!! We need to get these people to understand NOT to use bleach to remove color.........ESPECIALLY vivid tones!!!!
I just wanted to tell you that thanks to your advice and BlondeMe, I got my natural level 3 hair to platinum blonde over the weekend, at home. Thanks so much! I couldn't have done it without you.

That's what hurts. That was a great t-shirt. Absolute disrespect. 🥺

“Regular Hair”. Curly and coily hair are regular (common) hair types, just like straight and wavy.
We still have semi permanent wash out colour in Australia
She looks great in the red tones, if it was alike the ends!
I think some awesome blue extensions under would be an amazing change she would not regret.
Finally an intelligent woman who did strand tests. Meanwhile, she's hiding her results in low light which makes the whole thinga waste of my time.

I seen people use different things to bleach their hair. At least they haven't tried to use the bleach for the bathroom.
With the jewelry on too😭
How could she do that to Pink Floyd? If you’re going to put bleach on it at least make it look good! She does look great in that hair color
Just wanna say hello 🤗
Hello
In a Pink Floyd t-Shirt? Put her in prison!
Why didn't they remove the color first?
Why people dont use oxidative color removers or semi/demi color removers instead of bleach is BEYOND me!!!!! They are now available in regular stores for the general public to use!!!! We need to get these people to understand NOT to use bleach to remove color.........ESPECIALLY vivid tones!!!!
I love red hair! Red is more beautyful than blond!
Shouldn’t she use Color Oops first to try to remove the black box dye??
