Glad I found this review. I recently discovered these and have been debating on whether or not I want to pull the trigger. GameCube is so underrated and a huge part of my childhood. Ive been looking for something like this especially when I discovered they could be used handheld as joycons. Dream come true!
Great video thanks ! I have preordered it last week because it was out of stock, very happy to here positive feedback, i'm can't wait to receive my order ! I was looking for a gamecube type controller (i'm a big nostalgic) and those seem to be the best one so far for my budget.
You could also use the $30 rds industries case they sell everywhere if you just take them off the switch and put them in the space allotted for a pl in the pro vontroller
I was really disappointed when mine arrived. They feel so much cheaper than I expected for the price. Feels like the rail would snap just by the weight of the switch if I held it horizontally.

I preordered mine in early January and have yet to receive anything to confirm when my order will be shipped. Now the site says it could take two to three months. I really hope they’re worth the wait.
The Nintendo joycons are a jack of most trades but master of none. They work fine in handheld mode, and okay for multiplayer. But in handheld mode it feels cramp. With the straight vertical layout needing you to move your thumb in a cramp inducing way
One thing you didn't seem to mention was the D-pad, its extremely oversensitive. Holding left on the dpad as straight as you can, you can still sometimes without trying end up hitting up and down simply because the dpad will slightly lean in either direction while holding left.
Oh, that's interesting. I honestly haven't experienced that problem myself. Especially given the overall stiffness of the d-pad, inputs feel purposeful and precise during my usage. Even while attempting to rock the buttons in different directions, I can't get it to change directions.
I know the GameCube controllers were all cheap plasticy for when I was a kid, so this looks way too rubbery to what I’d be hoping for with a set of joycons like those to stick onto my current day Switch..
There's not any rubber on the controllers as far as I can tell (beyond the stick caps). The plastics used for the shell feel maybe a bit softer than a standard Gamecube controller, but that's likely helps with comfort.
As far as I know, you can't remap more than the grip buttons on the controller itself. However, I just checked, and I am able to use the Switch's native control remapping feature on the Wizard since it registers as standard Joy-Con when attached.
Sorry, I actually haven't played Stardew Valley. So, I couldn't tell you either way. If it helps at all, the controller really favors games that emphasize the A button, and I'm still really enjoying the clicky feel of the d-pad for navigating menus.
I'm interested on how this'll work on pc. I'm a weird dude. I want to try this with killer 7 with this so I can have motion aiming and the gamecube layout out of curiosity
@Teneesh I just got finished using the controller for Wii emulation via dolphin. Each half of the controller identifies as a joy con in Windows and worked seamlessly for basic Wii remote motions after mapping the controller.
When I ordered mine back in January, it was about 10 days between ordering and receiving the controller. Your mileage may vary though. I know some folks who ordered after me had to wait a bit longer since demand was pretty high around the time I posted this video.
@SL It might've for them, tbh. I think the amount of demand soon after their first wave shipped was more than they could handle at the moment, which caused huge delays. I'd hope they figured out their production issues by now, but who knows.
My boy got them! We are moving on up! my Joycons are coming in the mail today (I hope). Happy I ordered it before it sold out.

Just curious but are you able to map the buttons not the back buttons but the other buttons are they mapable

I don't think so, so you'll just have to connect a joycon for 2 seconds each time you need to scan one.
