I suppose you get what you pay for. The Jimny is definitely no vehicle for long drives on the highway. That said, for me the infotainment is absolutely unimportant. However, for me, the improvements made to the 2019 model were worth it and almost a must! So the Jimny light would not be on MY shopping list. I got my first Jimny in 1980. Replaced it in 1990 and again in 2005. You could call me a fanboy, and I admit loving this little marvel to bits. I used to live on a small Tasmanian Island, so driving long distances was never an issue. My off-roading consisted only with dirt roads and beach travel. I can recommend the Jimny to anyone loving small cars. All three were absolutely reliable, and I had never any problems. I live now in the city, still have my Jimny and would not hesitate to get another Jimny. However, being now 77 years, I would buy an automatic one, that again would mean no Jimny Light!
Tyre pressures are a major problem on dirt roads. My tyres were are 32psi when I drove it off the lot. It was very arse-happy on gravel and squealed on round-about. I dropped it to the recommended 26 psi and it was much better on and off road.
I believe the GLX is $3000 more than the GL (lite). PS. A nice Kenwood head unit and reversing camera will cost about $1500 installed. Another difference is the tinted rear windows. Lite windows arent tinted, but shades are available on Ebay for $60. Ive chosen to go lite and spend the $3000 on extras.
It takes a standard double din radio, however you need to buy the facia/surround and that costs ~aud$300. There are some youtube vids on replacing the radio.
And unless you have a neck or spatial perception problem then you dont need a reversing camera in this 4x4 shopping trolley. Could be handy for backing up in the forest but not essential.
@@sbird7251 it’s funny how people rate a car based on stereo. A $90 head unit and $100 aftermarket speakers is better than probably the best car stereo available stock 😂
Needs the aftermarket turbo or supercharger. Awesome little rig with just a few minor glitches. Probably a bit overpriced for how basic it is. Looks like a long wheel base version is coming later this year hopefully with the turbo.
the lite and top spec model are not $1500 difference, its about $8000 believe it or not, I called around every Suzuki dealership in Victoria and they were all telling me $38k + for the top spec model. the lite was $29,990 in white and manual, much worth going for the lite if you ask me.
I just LOVE Jimny and prefer a basic one. If this Lite Jimny could be a hybrid as well, that would be great! Do you think that ever will happen? Thank you for your review! Liked your dog as well! 😀❤
Suzuki should make a 4x2 version as the bulk of them like dual cab 4x4 utes never go off road the few I see in my area are driven by young trendy females .The Jimny lite despite being low on tech there's still a 12 month waiting list .More manufacturers should make a lite version it will free up the semiconductors
A 4x2 with a SFA? They would have to completely re-engineer the suspension and front drivetrain for that to make sense. In which case it would be no different to every other Suzuki - just with less boot space because a good departure angle would then be pointless.
This is similar to the UK 🇬🇧 Special. The only way you can buy it there. Due to emissions. So Suzuki made it, into a 2 seater commercial vehicle to pass. Shout out to Berwick Nissan. They have the normal version for 47.5k. 🙃
Here in North America, I wish Ford made a stripped down, yet still usable Bronco. The base is useless as tits on a bull, yet still full of tech no one wants.
l chose the SZ4 over the more expensive SZ5 (England) because l didn't want LED headlights, £500 each to replace, l can't stand touchscreen gadgets, steel rims every time on my 4x4s, heated seats are for pussies!! money saved went on ARB front and rear lockers, now a true 4x4.
So the original Jimny is fcking poor as mouse in church on a diet, and they decided to make it even worse. Nice. You know that you can buy proper second hand offroader with a lot features and luxury right?
Would you take a Jimny Lite even with everything it loses??
Actually surprised, that it scores a 3 out of 5 for safety. 2 for sale in W.A. 40k and 43k plus onroads. 🤑
Not if the difference is only $1,500. If it was $3,000, I’d consider. And it’s overpriced to start with.
I would pay $1500 more for the old school analogue controls. Bugger the fancy tech. I wanna buy one of these. Haha

a 2 inch lift and all terrain tyres make it sooooooooo much better all round , I'm in love with mine !!!!
Does ride quality on the city/highway also improves? or at leas it does not decrease?

Had to wait 10 months for my Jimny... next week i will finally pick it up from the dealer 🥳🎉
Excellent video. I really enjoyed this.
I don't think a reverse camera would be too much of an issue for me on a car that is 8 feet long. Haha

Does jimny dash hole fit any old stereo or need a custom?

Needs to be about 5 grand cheaper
Try to experience Gurkha, an Indian off-roader from force motors. It has got manual diff locks too. Costs under 20,000 USD in India.
On time this week 😉. Entertaining as always. Keep up the great content!
Shhhhhhhhhhh 🤫
Matt is the best car reviewer in Australia! Really enjoy your style!🦭🦭🦭
Nothing beats the OG Jimny!🔥
I drive cars for more then 40 years, never had the need for cup holders and never had the urge to move my steering wheel in any direction ....

I have this jimny with 5 door base model same as this but mine is 5 speed manual. I simply love it❤😊

Or just pull a BMW and remove options all together 😭
they did that for second gens in the early mid 90s, florida was really the only buyers

My first manual car was a 1969 vw beetle
Aftermarket suspension helps with the body roll.
Do people supercharge it ?
So this is basically the LCV version Europe gets, except it keeps all the back seats etc.

Haha love this comment
In my country Singapore S$105,000 thousand dollars 😡 only use for 10 year 😡
ordered one a week ago in Panthera metal ))))
I'd pay the extra $1500 for entertainment system with reverse camera.
amazing
I think I pay the 1500 dollars get the extras not a great video Matt well done
Thank you!
no 4x4 driving on grass, you will wind up your axel. Only 4x4 on slippery ground

🤣🤣🤣 I agree 100%, especially about heated seats
You are trying to be Matt Watson toooo hard man. Makes me cringe. Great video btw👍
No this car should only be with about $18k. Even the normal one is overpriced and should have a bigger engine
You can buy a bolt on supercharger or turbo kit right here in Australia.
There's a 12 month waiting list . Currently on car sales there a few of these with under 1000km asking 40k
