- Former Scottish first minister Nicola Sturgeon described matters as “incredibly difficult” after her husband was charged by police as part of a probe into SNP finances.
Ms Sturgeon appealed for privacy as she spoke briefly to journalists outside the home in Glasgow that she shares with Peter Murrell.
The 59-year-old former chief executive of the SNP was on Thursday charged by police in connection with the alleged embezzlement of funds.

I do find these corruption charges to be interesting, having lived half my years in the US and half in UK. So in the US corruption charges dont really stick to well known politicians till it gets to 6 figures or more and even then thats nothing, But in the UK it is rather amazing that a few thousand is more than enough to end a career, esp if it might involve naughty things. Just saying.
They usually end up in the private sector making much more off the companies they "helped" during their term. Which I believe is similar to the US.
It's little bit more than a 'few thousand' but it shouldn't matter - it's all public money that they have stolen and therefore, a crime.
