Now we just need Maynard singing Wynonas Big Brown Beaver
🤟😝🤘
Hell yea!!
I don't think it'd be totally off the cards to be fair
I need "Tommy the cat" with Maynard)))
I'd settle for Jerry was a race car driver
Seeing Primus and Tool together is like watching an alternative timeline come to life 😭
It's probably been a decade now, but seeing Rammstein minus Till playing Beautiful People with Manson doing vocals, that was another acid trip alternate timeline.
Jeah it's better than Tallica with muh' stain and Nusted.
@@Megadeth_777 nuuuh tallica way better always lol
@@Megadeth_777 Megadeth fans always seething so hard in every comments section. Image simping for thrash metal, under a Primus and Tool video no less. High school tier musix taste
@@Megadeth_777 nah also Lars is best drummer ever. Tallica has so many good albums
The "Primus is just Tool with more humor" meme has come full circle
A Perfect Circle you could say
@@BreeOwnsMyHeart I see what you did there
@@BreeOwnsMyHeart Beat me to it. :)
😂
If ya know how to play music you would know primus and tool are miles apart in the realm of complexity.
I think this is the first time I’ve seen les on stage without an instrument in his hands. He’s so goofy I love it
The jams you seek are rush and primus
I was so confused because I kept hearing the sludgy bass and looking over and seeing empty hands.
"Guess I'll just wave my hands around like a magician or something."
Danny Carey and Tim Alexander on the same stage?!?!? There really is a heaven!
Justin Chancellor and Les Claypool on the same stage
Primus x Tool is a literal dream matching bro I love this
Hell yeah!!
a dual tour like that would be the ultimate ticket.
Except for the part where primus is unlistenably bad.
I'm sorry dude I'm stealing the 30 years ago thing
This is like sending a guy with broken glasses to transcribe a conversation between 2 gods..
And he forgot his pen.
Danny and Tim are perfectly in sync
Both bands feature incredible musicians. Primus is weird and funny but there's some virtuoso level playing going on.
@@victorcoleman949yessir. I saw Danny Carey drum with Primus (with Tim) a few years back at their annual NYE show.
Hearing these two drumming savants together was mind blowing. They did a drum off over Zeppelin's Moby Dick... wow. the whole show was seriously incredible.
Holy shit! I’m the kid with glasses at the two minute mark! I’m speechless! It was an amazing night that I’ll never forget, thank you so much for capturing the moment while doing a worthy cause!
Dude that's awesome....looked like you were having a blast!.....not gonna lie, just a tad bit jealous!
Killing it bro you live your best life
it pays to be very outwardly excited about the music you're excited about
It was awesome! I was in front of Justin and the person for the cause Jimmy while he gave me a Seagullmen shirt during intermission! Calling in sick was worth it and unexpectedly paid off! I’ll definitely cherish this moment here on eternity! I would also thank all the concert buds and hope to see you guys at the next ones!
Jealous as fuck dude. Looks like you were having the time of your life! Rightfully so.
My favorite Tool song, which should be covered by more bands, in fact should be mandatory for every band playing a show in L.A. to cover this song.
ABSOF♡CKINLUTELY!!!!
Yes but maby not by this guy 😅
Nah, next time Les better sing "Third Eye." Aenima is a good description of the apocalypse drive, but these cute critiques of LA, come on. Also, Les could write a new stand-up bit for the intro.
As a very, very lowkey Tool fan, and a Primus expert, this is awesome.
That's how I feel as well. I was able to catch primus last year and will see tool in a couple weeks by chance at a festival.
@@userbuddy7301 Primus will always have the best stage presence. Tool is great but they obviously focus on the art and performance, primus has fun.. a lot of fun
why the 'low key' aspect of your fandom?
You and I are similar. I respect Tool for what they do for sure, but Primus is my preferred band of the two
@@nelsonrivera764if i had to guess, because most tool fans are ravenous dipshits about it. i say this as a low-key fan of tool
R.I.P. to all those in the crowd who had their minds melted that evening. There were no survivors..... \m/
Man, Maynard really sings like a fucking champ. You really notice when someone else does his song.
Not the same without Maynard. Good, but much better with MJK. Gives me a whole new appreciation for what he brings to the band. It shouldn't have taken this for me to realize but i'm only human.
✌️✝️
I agree that MJK is a phenomenal singer. I think Les Claypool also sort of shat the bed here. He is so pitchy in this performance, but that may be partially because he's not used to singing legato phrases.
with due respect to maynard, i think claypool is really a good match for the Tool style
Yea but Les isn't trying to sing it like Maynard. He's singing it intentionally crazy.
Yeah. Compared to the original, this sounds like straight ass.
Honestly idk if that people is aware of how lucky they are to be in front of this insane collab
No kidding.
They probably don't even know who tool or Primus even is. Prob thought they were seeing Taylor Swift
Troy Van Leeuwen One of the best guests who are inventive, creative guitarists we still have. Damn that was fun to watch!
His work on the latest QOTSA album is amazing. That Paper Machete solo
And Troy Van Leeuwen 😮
Love that little vampire
He doesn't get enough credit. He is fucking badass in QOTSA
This is so weird and epic at the same time. I love both bands and hearing Les sing this song this way actually has subtle hints of The Cure to it. Like Burn from the Crow.
3:50 sounds like guitar solo from The Kiss.
i actually love les's take on this song his psychotic vocals fit so well
Tool and Primus were so very similar when they first started out, but they really took their music in different directions. They are still very similar in many aspects, but what really separates them is the sheer genius of Primus satirical themes and utterly inssane bass grooves, and Tool's ability to compose hypnotic rhythms and melodies.
I dunno if you've been paying attention to post 2000 Primus, but the improv stretches they get into are INCREDIBLY Tool-like imo, they're more ambient than melodic
There’s no similarities in their music at all loser
Similar?!
@@mugwump7049 Yes. They used to be more like each other back in the 90's, but Primus still have some progressive and grungy riffs, and Tool still do some weird Primus-esque parts here and there.
Tool had Danny Carey and Maynard, Primus had Les. The strengths of the bands were completely different. Lots of bands have a talented bass player but very few have a drummer like that.
I went to Lolla in 1993 at the Milan Dragway in Michigan when I was a 41 yr old mother of 3 (2 of them were with me, lol). Tool was on a second stage and blew us away, so amazing. PRIMUS was headlining because Pork Soda had debuted at #7 on the charts, kicking Alice in Chains down a notch. I almost got sucked into the pit (when pits were pits!) trying to get close to PRIMUS and 2 guys picked me up and set me down outside the ring, lol. Good times.
I saw tool and primus a few years back and they did a collab like this.. best thing ever
When and where was this?
I've seen Primus cover this song once, about the first minute of it... this was the first time I've ever heard of them playing together.. just curious
@Chuck Kneiss it wasn't this song but it was like 4 or 5 years ago in New Orleans smoothie king center. Primus opened for tool and during primus set I believe Danny Justin and Adam played a song together. Can't remember what it was
Southbound pachyderm! I think it was just Justin and Danny but it absolutely kicked ass live
@Zach Ferguson I believe your right and yea it was sick af
Primus covered the first minute or two of this song with Danny Carey sitting in on drums back in 2014 during Riot Fest.
It's so cool when two of your favourite bands of all time are pals. Thank you.
Troy is such a fucking pro.
Troy is the man!
Is this troy from qotsa?
@@MrSanitsuj yes sir
@@MrSanitsuj and a perfect circle which MJK sings in too, so qotsa, tool and a perfect circle are connected
We’re officially in the “Mulit-verse”
Les sounds as he's being chased by proverbial tidal wave these titans created. Love it!
I saw them tour together five or so years back. i remember amazing music and seeing fractals. lots of fractals.
Me too, I was at this show too, in the balcony. It was epic night, even though it had some sad undertones because of what the show was for it was still an amazing show.
@@DaveWossumWhat was it for?
@@Dr.Van.Nostrand Their mutual friend Jimmy Hayward was diagnosed with cancer. Jimmy was up on stage a few times playing guitar and generally enjoying himself.
@@DaveWossum That's a damn shame, cancer is a bitch. Thanks for the info.
@@DaveWossum ah man that SUCKS. Good vibes to Jimmy. Cancer can get fucked forever. it almost killed my mom. she's a fighter, though.
Primus is amazing live.
fuckin FACTS. One of my top 10 shows and I have been to a lot of shows.
they suck ooo aaa ooo ooooook ooooook
Nah...Primus SUCKS!
This is a historic moment. Also, the lyrics are very relevant right now.
Primus, please tour Europe!
Grandiooss!! Liebe Gruess usem Schwizerland👍🏻☮️❤️

Speechless about the performance...
But beyond all the praise I shower on both of these drummers in every video of either that I see... let me just say Justin is a machine... holy hell.
I wish for Tool to cover Southbound Pachyderm.
Please release a massive live double album.. triple album!!!!
I had my heart set on Quadruple album... we were almost there!
This goes perfectly with my morning coffee. 🖤
except Les is singing like dog shit lol
WoooooooooooooW! I think the 90s part of my brain just imploded. AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL!
Haven't seen Troy Van Leeuwen play that guitar since maybe the Lullabies to Paralyze shows with QOTSA
He is still playing with qotsa
@@MrSanitsujHe's talking about the specific guitar he's playing in this video.
Goddamn Primus x TOOL x QOTSA

Champion of World! Mistrzostwo Świata!
PRIMUS!!!
As a bass player, most fucking satisfying on stage bass recording in history. Props to the audio guys
epic, just so epic. Les and his crew have really made some awesome features in the past couple years (this, southpark, RUSH, etc)

Les is like a marionette with his arm movements lmao. Love it.
Ironically he is a marionette for the pharmaceutical industrial complex.
@@declineofthewest. lol what in the fuck? 😂
One of my favourite TOOL songs, great version, great all 🤘👹🤘
This is awesome. Even that security guard with the hat on is into it. Hoping for something like this at SESSANTA in a few months.
Les bullet mic was perfect for this song. Also love the shots of Danny and herb playing together. The synchronization looks so awesome.
Fun fact: did u know?
Let's bullet mic originally belonged to Mark Sandman from the band Morphine, but it was given to Les after Mark had passed away having a heart attack during a performance.
@@jonnyfavors7585 sure it’s actually Marks? I thought les just bought one like his because he was a fan and liked it.
@@pastiesandagstring yea, theres a video on youtube where he plays with morphine remaining members and also documentary about Mark Sandman. I believe Les mentions it between jam sessions.
Two absolute titans of the 90s alternative metal scene, let’s fucking go
I swear UA-cams the best site ever created. So glad I stumbled upon this
Love how second nature Justin and Danny are, you can see he keeps looking back at the drum kit for important cue parts. Danny's drum kit in particular.
This is honestly one of the best covers I've ever heard the straight guitar with the funky bass with locals sounding like an insane preacher it soooo goood
This made me so damn happy

Toolus Sucks!
Holy shiit that was unexpected. Amazing!
Cool. I don't think I have ever seen Les onstage without a bass.
Not very often that’s for sure…
Found me crowd surfing @ 5:58 on the left!
I can't wait for Sessanta. Damn. Seen Puscifer and A Perfect Circle, but will be my first Primus show. April cant come soon enough!
I have wanted Les Claypool to collaborate with Danny Carey for so long. This is the best thing I have seen on the internet in months.
Makes 1000% sense that Les would love the lyrics to this song.
Two drumsets with two drummers...I once did it, two bassists, two drummers, two guitarists, and two singers... it was F***ING AWESOME!!!
Never heard of King Crimson?
@@guitaristssuck8979 You stole my line! The double trio, or whatever they called it. And I do enjoy Primus covering Thela Hun Ginjeet.
@@spiderbass65 lol that was The frog brigade but yeah definitely a great cover! Killer pfp btw 🤘

Saw Les jam with Zappa plays Zappa years back...excellent show. Would've been out of this world if Les Claypool and partnered with Frank Zappa
Poor Les, he doesn’t know what to do with his hands without a bass in them 🥰 I’ve never been so thankful for ADHD’s existence ….a common thought when I think of how talented he is.
I think he's just mocking how MJK dances while performing
I'm hoping to see something like this at Maynards 60th Bday show.
Tool x Primus = Legendary Collaboration!
Still to this day, one of my favorite concerts I ever attended was when Primus opened for Tool in 2016, saw them in Duluth, Georgia. Incredible. After they played Frizzle Fry, they left the stage and came back in full black robes with pig masks and played "Mr Krinkle". A night I'll never forget.
Whoa 😮! Who knew this combo? I was just talking about Justin & Les being a few of my fav bassists ever! What a Trip!
I was pretty blown away to see Troy up there! I knew Tool and Primus perform together, didn't really know QOTSA was in the mix! and props to Les for not missing a single lyric!
Beau Travail comme d'habitude🔬🎼🎙Toujours un Moment de Détente🎬🔥Alex France🙏🌌
I really hope there is a tour of some kind and they come to FL.
5hrs and 1.5k likes. Unreal and THANK YOU Primus. (and Danny and Justin)
I need someone to tell me i haven't died bc this is absolutely surreal... Definitely not the combination I thought I needed but now I need more
The energy is unreal... take me there 🔥
Troy can play anything. Such a student, lover and master of the guitar whilst Rocking a hollow body.
Primus + Tool
Simplemente EPICO HERMANOOOOO!!!!
Given the nature and the original story behind Aenima, this is the perfect song for Primus to play...
This is really one of the most amazing performances. It must have been unimaginable to witness this live.
Have to listen with headphones. I wasn't getting it the first time around. Second time with headphones I was like ohhh I see. Les is threading a needle. It's close but he does it. The music in this is absoloutely incredible.
Les has pretty awesome stage presence as a front man. Fun seeing this.
