Lyrics:
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey
Some say the end is near
Some say we'll see Armageddon soon
Certainly hope we will
I sure could use a vacation from this
Bullshit three ring circus
Sideshow of freaks
Here in this hopeless fucking hole we call L.A.
The only way to fix it is to flush it all away
Any fucking time, any fucking day
Learn to swim, see you down in Arizona Bay
Fret for your figure and
Fret for your latte and
Fret for your lawsuit and
Fret for your hairpiece and
Fret for your Prozac and
Fret for your pilot and
Fret for your contract and
Fret for your car
It's a Bullshit three ring circus
Sideshow of freaks
Here in this hopeless fucking hole we call L.A.
The only way to fix it is to flush it all away
Any fucking time, any fucking day
Learn to swim, see you down in Arizona Bay
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Some say a comet will fall from the sky
Followed by meteor showers and tidal waves
Followed by fault lines that cannot sit still
Followed by millions of dumbfounded dipshits
And some say the end is near
Some say we'll see Armageddon soon
I certainly hope we will
I sure could use a vacation from this
Stupid shit, silly shit, stupid shit
One great big festering neon distraction
I've a suggestion to keep you all occupied
Learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim
'Cause mom's gonna fix it all soon
Mom's coming 'round to put it back the way it ought to be
Learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim
Learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim
Fuck L Ron Hubbard and fuck all his clones
Fuck all those gun-toting hip gangster wannabes
Learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim
Learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim
Fuck retro anything
Fuck your tattoos
Fuck all you junkies and
Fuck your short memory
Learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim
Learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim
Yeah, fuck smiley glad-hands with hidden agendas
Fuck these dysfunctional insecure actresses
Learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim
Learn to swim, learn to swim, learn to swim
'Cause I'm praying for rain
I'm praying for tidal waves
I want to see the ground give way
I want to watch it all go down
Mom, please flush it all away
I want to see it go right in and down
I want to watch it go right in
Watch you flush it all away
Yeah, time to bring it down again
Yeah, don't just call me pessimist
Try and read between the lines
And I can't imagine why you wouldn't
Welcome any change, my friend
I wanna see it come down
Bring it down, suck it down, flush it down
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey
Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey

I am 46, fighting brain cancer, woke up sick today after completing round 4 of chemotherapy. This is the song I went to. It's blaring in my ears right now. What a perfect song.
A lot of these comments are jokes but yours seems serious and I hope you're doing better man.
No joke, diagnosed in Oct '21. Had it removed, doing a year of meds. I graduated high school in '95 and Tool has never left me. Every album a gem. When music causes your endorphins to flow, your adrenaline to rush, and goosebumps all over your body, it's a natural pain reliever and mood booster. Next time you're sick or feel like shit all over, listen to the song that lifts you from your chair all by itself...LOUD 👍
Oh, and I should be ok. We maybe caught it early enough.
Damn dude, we're the same age... Your comment just gave me a gut punch. Sending you prayers and good vibes that you kick cancer's ass. As for this song, you are spot on with the adrenaline rush... Good for the soul.
Your a warrior man keep up the good work!! I wish you the best in this life and sending you positive energy 🤍
I'll put some prayers in for you. I'm a stage IV cancer survivor myself....6 months of chemo and 6 surgeries...that was over 12 years ago and I'm still here at the age of 57. If it helps, I chose not to put forth anger against the cancer but projected love onto it through constant creative visualization and meditation. While doing so, I told it that it did not belong in my body and instructed it to politely leave. I have found that when one fights against something, it tends to resist and fights back. By projecting love onto the cancer, it listened and went away.
This isn't a song, its a prediction. Its that simple.
So f##king true

@@spankthemonkey3437 😖🤦♂️ my friend,
Thinking that their is any substantial difference between dems & Republicans only shows the media indoctrination you have been subjected to. That saddens me a little slightly.
Ill break it down very simply.
BOTH parties are equally corrupt. Whom do they work for? Who funds politicians when legal bribery accepted as daily business? BOTH parties have 1 job, its to "fund raise, not do whats best for the people " their real job is to funnel wealth upwards. You know this, or at least should. But i dont blame you or youre words, they are just naive & fundamentally molded by a lifetime of propaganda by the establishment. I.e. the 1%. You vilifying 50+% of the country, you're fellow Americans. Youre neighbors, friends, family. ( whom are brainwashed to think that their buddy, friend, family is crazy) it keeps us fighting eachother, instead of fighting for things like privacy, freedom of speech, universal health care, education, a living wage.
Please stop thinking that 1 party is better, they are bought by the same people.

People keep commenting how relevant this is in X year, but nobody wants to admit that this is a tale as old as time. That humanity has been humanity's greatest enemy since there were two people.
As long as there are two people on the planet, someone is gonna want someone else gone
Now what????
But only for the last 80 years have we truly had the power to actually annihilate ourselves with the push of a button.
But we seemingly prefer to do it the slow way. By repeating history, and allowing ourselves to be subservient to a thing. All the while, that thing is killing us.

Lol he meant the f word as a pejoritive term not as a literal verb 😂
One of the best songs ever made.
I am 107 years old and this tool song is what helps me stay alive. I used to listen to it in ww2
I listened to it while dropping the atomic bombs on Japan.
Love this 😹
Thank you for your service.
Son of gun 😂
Peace, my old-ass nigga.
People need this song in times like this

HHHHEEEEEGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!
@Justin L fucking right!
The fact you are talking about need... goes against the song. It is something that is inherent... but yes we need the song.. because we are scum
I've a suggestion to keep you all occupied, Learn to swim
'Cause Mom's gonna fix it all soon
Mom's comin' 'round to put it back the way it ought to be
They had a message to deliver to the world. Fell on deaf ears. Never felt more alive than I do right now. What about you?
When you look at the horror show that is modern reality this song makes more sense than it ever has.
I could use a vacation from this stupid shyt
The artists are ahead of the rest of us
The most interesting part is he always knew the truth, we didn't. We heard it at time like "yes Hollywood is fake". This is pre Epstein, pre Weinstein, pre Elon musk playing toy soldier with humans... for the prole.
It's this interesting full circle moment because of the Internet and it getting worse that now the prole knows what demons they are, and can listen to this like "oh he probably wrote this after being heinously disgusted watching some swanky party degen shit we can scarcely imagine cept now we can also cuz they are shameless getting proles involved, playing war, burning down Maui, making mobs of criminals, being the government, makin empire child labor with adult child unsupervised interactions... Lord the music was the disgust rage hope karma is real fury of decent person who knew what they really are
Get tired of these kind of comments acting like this shit hasn't been going on for a long time. Maybe it is worse now, but it just reminds me of how so many of you pukes only started paying attention in the 2010s.
Cause I’m praying for rain
And I’m praying for tidal waves
I wanna see the ground give way
I wanna watch it all go down
Mom please flush it all away
I wanna see it go right in and down
I wanna watch it go right in
Watch you flush it all away
Time to bring it down again
Don’t just call me pessimist
Try and read between the lines
I can’t imagine why you wouldn’t
Welcome any change, my friend
I wanna see it come down
Burn it down
Suck it down
Flush it down
Thank you. Low key internet babe.
Hollywood is begging to be overturned.
I always thought he said “I’m praying for mayhem” instead of rain thanks for clarifying. It still sounds cool if he did say mayhem
2024. It will all go right in and down this year. Learn to swim.
One does not simply listen to TOOL -
You experience it, mind and body.
Lumumba B.
What, are you gonna cry because people have differing music tastes to you? Get over yourself
..and Soul.
Lol what. That's just music. Granted it's good music with good lyrics, but it's nothing more.
@@cocacolaman963 I wrote that to see what kind of responses I would get. I understand it's only music.
Richard Rahl
And apparently you’re having a sook about me pointing out that music taste is completely a matter of opinion
Bill Hicks was a fuckin genius. He truly embodied generationX. He definitely spoke for me. Sad we lost Bill so soon. He lives on in Maynards music. Thanks to both of you for shaping my adolescent years.
@2strokesmoke81 no, but I will now.
@2strokesmoke81 I saw Clutch open for SOAD and I wanted SOAD to leave and Clutch to come back onstage.
There are some who say he just changed his stage name to Alex Jones.
Hicks was a prophet, man. Him and Carlin were two of the best discoveries I made back when I was giving the whole college thing a go.

Potentially the only piece of advice you can honestly give to every human who has ever lived.
"Learn to swim"
What's even more awesome is the fact that Maynard lives in Arizona
The older you get, the more this song makes sense
@@hydros25 What happens is that these songs transcend time.

True that
California is definitely sinking into the ocean soon ye

1:18 to 1:35 is a seriously underrated vocal line. It takes a lot of breath control to sing all that in one breath with a consistent tone.
Yeeee boiii. Throwin down!

What is far more amazing is that the problems can be so damned obvious before people see them for what they are.

To say this was ahead of its time is underselling this.

Maynard’s breathing at the beginning always sends chills up my spine
He's not just breathing, he's saying "hey, hey, hey"
Like you're whispering to get someone's attention!
@@ThrottleKitty I know he’s saying “hey” but his delivery makes it sound like breathing.
