  • This is the evolution of a plain Jane entry level Blues Saraceno Samick. I started this out because I'm a huge fan but the pickups I've had in it both stock and the next set just never did anything for it. I did a holoflash design and then sprayed some 2K clear on it and gave it some protection.
    The frets need to be upgraded to 6100 jumbos and replace the nut but after all said and done, you won't find a better sounding Samick fully loaded than this. Hope you enjoy!
    Signal chain: Plug-in is the SLO-100 ran from an Axe FX II direct with a custom made Clean Boost pedal.

    Great demo! It's refreshing to see you playing both chords and leads, which really showcases the tonal differences. Many demos focus solely on rhythm metal, making it hard to gauge the quality of the pickups. Good job, bro!

    Nice job with the guitar. Love my TV-Twenty with the Floyd and 2 parallel-axis p'ups. What a great guitar.

      I'm gonna one day replace the frets with jumbo and change the nut to a tusq. It's frets are the reason I don't slam on this guitar more. But good thing for me is I'm awesome at doing fret work!

    It turns out that pickups have more influence on the sound of the guitar than the wood from which the instrument is made!?

    • @chromaticmusic

      And the frets. I've done 4 fret jobs and it changed the tone completely

      @@chromaticmusic cool. Never thought about frets changing the sound drastically.
      However I am in the camp of pickups make more of a difference than wood.
      I know big debate in those that say wood is more important than electrics

      @@chromaticmusic I 100% second this. I just did a refret on one of my old Schecters and the tone changed drastically ( I unfortunately like it less, but what am I gonna do, put the old frets back on?).
      It makes sense. The pickups "pick up" the vibration of the strings and anything that makes contact with the strings will affect the way they vibrate. You can run this experiment with 2 identical shaped picks made of different metals and the tone will be very different!

    Is that a “post endorsement” Blues Saraceno “signature” model, kinda like the MM Axis post Van Halen?

      Not sure, but I think it's the first of the versions to be produced before the TV20S. But I'm really guessing, I'm not much on the history of Samick guitars, however my buddy is a huge fan and may know.

    Is the neck on the samick chunckier than the blues saraceno RGX signature?
    Also what frets do you usually go for? Jumbo 6100s?

    • @chromaticmusic
      @chromaticmusic  2 роки тому

      The neck on the Samick is definitely thicker than the Yamaha model. Honestly if we're not a blues Saraceno guitar, I'd have nothing to do with this one. It's not my style at all. But it goes to show that some things just need your own touch and a fine tuning and any guitar can be special.

    How did you mount your pick ups?

    • @chromaticmusic
      @chromaticmusic  2 роки тому +1

      I cut into the body but it turned out to be unnecessary. The neck height and the bridge were higher than most so I could have just mounted it with the springs and screws with no mods.

      There's actually 3 versions. It's the "b" version if I remember correctly. The 1st of the series was too hot and the 3rd were too bright. The 2nd generation was boosted mids which is where blues gets his tone

      @@chromaticmusicwait so the bridge pickup your playing here is the distortion or the Blues Saraceno version? Thought you said in the beginning that this was the hotter second version I.E the distortion.
