I bought this guitar new in creamsicle colors back in the 90s. Still have it. Nearly mint except for one ding where my high school friend turned around too fast and knocked it with his headstock. Such good tone. Wish I still had the pre-CBS deluxe reverb I used to play it on.
I have the Fudgesicle (more of a mocha burst). Freaking great guitars. I have 2 Vega Trem equipped guitars. The BEST trem EVER! Since you have one on your Twenty, I may have to do the same.
Great shreds my man! Had one of these (cream sickle) stolen from me out the back of a 69 Camero. This video is gonna make me swoop one from the verb. Nothing but good memories with the guitar...gonna get a vega trem as well...awesome video...subbed.
I bought my H-H model TV20 with a Floyd new when they came out. I really wanted an Ernie ball EVH guitar at the time but they were too expensive and not available where I live in Tasmania (Australia). I swapped out the term for a Schaller Floyd, changed the pickups to Dimarzio paf pro’s (To be like Joe Satrianis Ibanez) and carved the neck pocket to be rounded over. The neck is super thick and it changed my mind about guitar necks having been an Ibanez fan boy. Anyway it’s still a good guitar and fun to play. 😊👍🎸
Great review! Very thorough. I love the look of this guitar, but not usually a fan of boat necks. Would the neck pocket accept a standard Fender-spec replacement do you think? Thanks!
Not sure about the neck pocket spec... I've never considered it... I love the big neck profile. It's an interesting idea though, because I'm not a huge fan of the Samick headstock on this.
@@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear Can you measure the size of the neck at the heel? I don't like baseball-bat necks; the tuning peg schema would be just plain awkward.
i got mine for $200 on reverb at beginning of this year.. thats definitely a crazy deal because these dont come up often or cheap. if you think old samick guitars seem crap, think again, samick built guitars for most of the big mfg and the quality of these is great. in fact, they made more affordable versions of a boutique brand in the 90s, valley arts, they made some beautiful guitars, you can still find the strat or tele samick versions around with a funky headstock and scooped out neck joint. theres some really great tele versions floating around with really nice sunburst ash finish. mine has fret ends stop before it hits edge of fretboard... doing something like that takes time and theyre all perfect length. check them out!
Wow, I am going to look for one of these, this is awsome! I saw Blues play at a guitar clinic back when his Plaid album was out. I was too young to appreciate how awesome he was.
Cool guitars! Saraceno was the first endorser of the Duncan PATB. Great player. I remember when I first heard him around '89 or '90. I was part of the L.A. shred scene playing in dozens of bands in those days. I saw Blues a couple times, once with a band where he sang vocals along with a bassist, and another time a purely instrumental ensemble. He was noticeably superior to most players out there at the time. Just real style and class, and of course insane chops. Great tone as well. He played a guitar like that and one with a Floyd with a flannel pattern. Great player, one of the best ever. Back to the guitar. I'm very much a fan of 3 over 3 headstocks even though I've mostly played Strat style guitars with Strat inline headstocks. I think the Ernie Ball headstock is one of the best ever designed. They really do stay in tune, especially the American made Music Men with the roasted maple neck. But it's keeping that straight vortex that helps stay in tune far more than locking tuners. Locking tuners do NOT help you stay in tune that much. But they make string changes a lot quicker and techs love them.
im amazed no one has brought this guitar back yet. i think the body is similar to ibanez talman models. fyi, thats another great guitar to get, the prestige talman models they did few yrs ago...
I used Hipshot. Sperzel should also work, but you'll need to drill out for the guide pin. Or, Sperzel has another option that uses tiny spikes that press into your headstock. Can't recall what those are called though...
Isn't that a Radio Ten model? Considering that the pickup layout is HSS? Could the neck been swapped to TV Twenty? Awesome guitar, by the way. Always wanted one! :)
I think the TV Twenty and the Radio Ten, are essentially the same guitars. The only notable difference is that the TV Twenty, has burst or plaid finishes, with matching inlay colors and the Radio Ten, only came in black, white or red and had black dot inlays. Both models can be found with different pickup configurations, i.e, HH or HSS. I've even seen models with hardtail "Tonepro's" style bridges as well. But to answer your question, yes, this is a TV Twenty. :)
quite a nod to the evh wolfgang, but I must say I like the 3 by side headstock better. The Wolfgang wasnt even that original to begin with, Framus had a model called Nashville which could have been the direct influence ;)
"Plaid" by Blues Saraceno is one of the best rock shred albums ever made. Dimebag was a huge fan!

I have a TV Twenty in fudgecicle finish with a floyd. They are awesome guitars, I cant imagine why they don't reissue them!
Still have my Red TV-20 with the Floyd, H-H Blues Trembuckers, and single volume knob. What a great guitar. Great tone from your setup!

You are the truth! I'm going to keep an eye out on this model popping up on the 2nd hand market and will import it to my home in India.
Great chops man!!!! I want one of those TV 20s bad!
Phenomenal playing dude. Could listen all day!

BTW great playing! And I love the tones. Terrific.
I have a sweet plaid. I have had it 18 years. Love it.
Wanna sell it? Lol
@@soundofwinter no. It's the same plaid as the one in Hard Rock. Definitely a keeper.

I love these guitars sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo much. But I can never find one for sale here in Australia. 😓😥😢😭. Great playing btw dude.
@ 17:46 - A fitting homage to Blues Saraceno from the "Plaid" album, "A Lighter Shade of Pale."
Hey Chris, which locking tuner set did you go with? Will a standard Sperzel 6 in line TremLock set work?
I used Hipshot. Sperzel should also work, but you'll need to drill out for the guide pin. Or, Sperzel has another option that uses tiny spikes that press into your headstock. Can't recall what those are called though...
Blues Is so legit
I have a Samick Greg Bennett jazz bass lovely great quality
mastertheguitar has a cool Yamaha Blues Saraceno

@@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear Thanks, man! They're awesome and they're really hard to come-by, nowadays! \m/
I have a tv twenty in plain white hh Floyd bridge. Owned it since new in 1997-98
Dang super lucky brother I'm still searching for one
Boom!! reverb.com/item/40744579-samick-tv-twenty-blues-saraceno-signature-1995-purpleburst
I love these guitars soooooooooooooooooooooo much, but there so rare over here in Australia, I can never find one. 😲😢😭
Those are from the early 90s and was out before the EB Wolf
The Vega trem is a upgrade you swapped in?
Yes. I installed the Vega-Trem. It rules and everyone should try it.
quite a nod to the evh wolfgang, but I must say I like the 3 by side headstock better. The Wolfgang wasnt even that original to begin with, Framus had a model called Nashville which could have been the direct influence ;)
I remember the ads in the Guitar World magazines when he was a Yamaha artist. I think the guitar was plaid
yup, green and yellow plaid. hard to find nowadays. even harder finding a plaid samick, ive only seen 1 once come up for sale
Are these after the YAMAHA make?
Yes. The Samick was his final commercial signature brand.
These came out in 1996 and were only made for for about a year or so..
