I feel like the Balkans need to be spiced up a bit, in every playthrough it seems like nothing changes there, compared to what happened historically it's a shame
The core of the issue is the over stability that Austria and to a lesser extent the ottomans have had since launch. Love the game have over 900 hours and I can’t think of one time that I actually saw Austria fracture. Romania does tend to form fairly regularly but having Croatia and Slovenia or Bulgaria from the ottomans occasionally pop would give the region a lot more variety.
the amount of times my opponent is "Fearful" in a diplo play and they sstill dont back down is absurd. its like probably 1% of the time when they're fearful.
I find they only back down if the actual number is either -75 or -85 (i don't remember what max is off the top of my head). Otherwise they really don't like backing down.
just so you know, they only back down if there is at least a non primary wargoal, else they always fight it since it makes no difference to back down or fight. (it can be something silly like banning slavery or removing claims)
The reason you couldn't liberate Hungary btw was that you demanded Delvidek, which is a Hungarian state. Can't liberate a country if you're taking EVEN ONE STATE from its borders, sadly
I agree its stupid. Played a Greece game where I wanted to take Macedonia but it then wouldn't let me liberate Bulgaria. Especially stupid considering it would have given them their irl borders.
If you want to delay progress on a front you are going to lose, you can split your army into single regiments with 4 generals each. Every general on defense slows the progression until the next battle on a front, so stacking generals can delay battles for months. The same also works for naval invasions, but far more effectively. When a naval invasion is launched, you have to fully control the attached trade-node and will battle enemy fleets until the have to "repair". Ships can not actually be damaged, so instead the Admiral attached to a fleet gets disabled for some time. When you have 12 Admirals with 3 ships in total, the Admirals will get disabled in turn with enough time for the first one to reactivate, delaying any naval invasion indefinitely.
@@TobyYellsAtThings if you hate yourself, you should try to conquer Russia at the same time, as the BG also have the Russian Culture besides German as their primary culture.
It's amazing how I can spend hours watching Toby play a game I've never even touched. Not only that but I also feel obligated to ask: Are you gonna continue the A to Z series? That was awesome! Other than that, just well done on another great one and keep up the good work!!
This is kinda clickbait. We get Yugoslavia but not promised Yugoslavia. Oh well it's kinda like paradox games lately. They promise you a game but they sell whole game as dlcs. Vanilla game itself looks like demo
Honestly maybe? I haven't messed with royal marriages at all. You can get an alliance with Russia without an obligation though, I just wanted to show it's doable if that's the only option.
Ok so in Prussia's defense that wasn't a 3v1. If you didnt notice France was also invading Prussia. So for a short time it was a 3v2 for Prussia. But then it was a 2v1.
It legit took me about 12 tries to make it happen. If you can't make it work I recommend one of the Romanian countries, same strat but easier start. Just no Yugoslavia.

Also Greece NEVER gets its territories
That is absolutely going to be future DLC content.
It's usually the most stable part of the Ottoman Empire. One of the only places that don't rebel with the landowners.
And from what I’ve seen in other videos Russia is laughably weak and can’t even properly compete with the ottomans

So that's why I couldn't liberate Bulgaria as Wallachia/Romania, I had Dobruja. Sad
19:44 Toby: scolding prussia about being bad

Nice work on those pdx guides for this dlc. They came out well.
Silly challenge/video idea: form Germany as the Baltic Governorates
I didn't even know they had German Culture until you said this. Honestly I might do that one if I can get a strat for it.

A similar idea: form the Free States of America and then the United States as the Columbia District.
Watching his gdp go up and down throughout the video was the most exciting part lol

In the thumbnail Yugoslavia turns out much bigger
I like how you almost take all of Austria but then just take a tiny chunk and give them back a lot of won land 😂
i love how victoria 3 is good now (if you get sphere of influence dlc)

Fair point, tbh I had to re-record the opening so many times It just got ignored by the time I got a successful run.

Is it possible to use the royal wedding mechanic to get an alliance with Russia instead of offering them an obligation?
Have never tried Serbia but I remember playing as Russia and using that event to get married to a Serbian

4.9M GDP? Doesn't those territories have that amount at the start of the game? I'd expect GDP per capita of at least 1.25-1.5 by 1854, not 0.8...
