this is really easy on older patches actually, hence the medium ranking. You could become a major power as a protectorate, and algeria used to start out mostly unified.
Yeah back before Voice of the People this was actually pretty fun to do, now it's just a luck of the draw as to whether France or the UK instantly annex you or not.
Algeria on older patches also starts with Interventionism which for a country with so many other backwards laws is actually a huge leg up. I did this, along with American Territory and An Empire Under the Pun back on 1.2
You could’ve joined the British PB to gain access to their huge market since they had market unification 3 and grow your economy massively while still being able to become a GP
I enjoy your videos sir! Keep it up. A couple comments you said which I think are interesting and may require some perspective, and forgive me, I'm ad libbing here: 1.) Why existing trade routes don't disappear after conquest I think that is pretty typical from a historical precedent. Unless the new ruling power wants to shut off trade entirely, which has happened before (looking at you China and Japan). Existing trade routes tend to persist. 2.) Why after releasing a country why do they not like me immediately. That's pretty self explanatory. What you just did is conquer a sovereign nation. And in a short span of time you give them some autonomy back, while making them pay you money. Who would like that? Hell we fought a revolution over taxes. I just found that funny. Keep on keepin on man! Have a good one.
Mainly just for gameplay reasons, inheriting trade routes is annoying because I just have to go an cancel them anytime I conquer a small state. Also releasable subjects give the exact same relation value whether you just conquered them, conquered them 50 years ago, or released them from your core territory. It's not a big deal but is just an annoyance because who isn't going to immediately raise relations the moment you release a subject? I view it as a quality of life change.
Having completed Barbary's Back a week or two ago, I wish the achievement didn't require Major Power status. All the hard stuff is done once you beat the French once, the rest is just waiting for recognition points.
@@TobyYellsAtThings When I did American Territory back in 1.2, Texas beat Mexico, and then I conquered Texas myself, and then an anti-slavery revolt in the US happened in 1842 that was very evenly matched with the South which I exploited to get my independence and take Arkansas. After that it was just consuming Mexico and building up to take down America myself chunk by chunk. I will say though that despite my insane luck (on my fourth attempt), it took me until December 29, 1935 to actually finish them off. As for An Empire Under the Pun, when I did it the first time, I started by conquering the territory that is modern Pakistan, puppeting Afghanistan and Persia, and then transfering the British Raj to me in the middle of Britain being busy with wars against three other great powers. Neither achievement is easy, but An Empire Under the Pun was a lot easier and less luck based than American Territory in my experience. Hopefully this helps you to do it.
Mainly because I was trying to get recognition as quickly as possible and subjects allow you to boost SoL in your own population easier. If I was going for becoming as strong as possible I wouldn't have done it this way.
No I didn't mention it, but the game doesn't allow you to target revolutionary states in diplomatic plays. that's why I could fight France but not the revolt.
@@TobyYellsAtThingsHow does the efficiency work? I mean, if you have 1 army with 3 generals attacking, that is +30 attack. How is having only 1 attacking (and therefore +10 attack) more efficient?
@@TobyYellsAtThings Then, wouldn't It be better if you have more attack? I am kinda new to the game and, despite the battle system in Vicky3 is the easiest among the other games I have watched videos about (Vicky2 and HOI4), I still don't understand how generals attack or defend orders work when there are multiple generals in an army. I also don't know whats better, if having a big army with one promoted general or with numerous non promoted generals Could you clarify me those (here in the comments or in the next video as a quick mention or something), please? Ty in advanced, love your videos ❤️
Honestly I don't fully know how it works in great detail, but you are right, it would usually be better to have as many troops as possible fighting with good offense at once. It's kind of a pain to remove generals from an army though so I don't do it much. Normally I'll just promote the good offensive general up so they bring more troops with them. The benefit of having many generals is that you can launch attacks faster, each general has to fill up the bar once to launch an attack, so if you have say 2 armies with 4 generals a piece, you could launch attack 8x faster than you could with just one general.
Hi, the nwe 1.8.6 update just dropped and the game is not letting me in, it always crashes cause the save is from an another version of the game. Can sombody help me with this problem?
Go into your files and delete all your save data. It’s annoying to lose your save games, but I had this issue with CK2 a number of years ago and that solved my issue.
I cut it out of the video but I debated hard between Kenya and the bankroll, I ended up going with the bankroll because it would help me get my SoL up faster for recognition.
Probably cool vid but pathetic thumbnail. 35 million in GDP is nothing would’ve been cooler if it was closer to 350 million. Just a tip from the cool coach.

I know and I almost decided to, but I was too afraid of getting subjugated accidentally.
but they also had vassalisation III
Impressive! Loved the video and seeing Algeria grow
Maghreb means west in arabic. They where the western part of arabia that why they call it
ah ok, that's kinda neat. I made an attempt to learn Arabic one time but decided it was too hard for not enough pay off.

20% literacy is not "terrible" not great but definitely not terrible
Pretty funny 😂
Oh man, PTSD strikes back. I... done it. I have this achievement and I don't regret losing my brain cells over this xD
Have you gotten American Territory?
@@efulmer8675 Yep, done all of the ones considered very hard xD
@@Lutawhuiklik Nice! An Empire Under the Pun made me lose the most braincells even though its the most straightforward.
thanks for playing as an algerian country

I died laughing after you started calling Russia a moron as you were adding in all your allies
You got my like, because i know how hard this archivmend is
I'll tell you, this was about the 5th attempt at recording this video, all together I probably spent about 15 hours trying to get this run.

I would have but Victoria 3 doesn't allow you to target revolutions.

Why do you put your generals to defend if you are attacking? What does it do?
A lot of times I only want my general with good offense buffs to attack so that I get better efficiency from my troops.
@@TobyYellsAtThingsHow does the efficiency work? I mean, if you have 1 army with 3 generals attacking, that is +30 attack. How is having only 1 attacking (and therefore +10 attack) more efficient?
You save on manpower that way. Basically your enemies get less time to shoot at you if you win the battle quickly.
