nice one. Do you think there is a way to use the assembly node on a geometry that's not coming from a copy to points, but from an imported Obj? I assume using the connectivity node? I have tried but no luck so far

Yes you can use assemble on anything, it will take each connected piece of geo and pack it
actually, i can make it work with random Cd or P attrib, but can't rotate them with orient or N
