If you haven't read the Helsreach novelette or the Armageddon anthology this video series is based on, you're missing a treat. This video uses dialogue from the audiobook version, in fact. That also is very good.
Ok the speech at the beginning fired me up. I went in to veteran mode lol. All the dialog from beginning to end was fantastic. They where truly speaking as military men. Calling each other out to messing with one another just to do it lol. And Inspiring your men with wisdom!!! LOVED EVERY MINUTE

This Animation shows very well the different trainings and dogmas of every mission; Salamanders prioritize defense and the lives of the citizens, any other legion could not care less over the citizens.(very few even going as far as to kill the citizens if it would lead to victory)
While Grimaldus is writing the deeds and death of his brothers.. I want to know what went down on the Rostoric Iron Works
I've watched the fan film a thousand times, I know the opening speech from Grimaldus by heart, I have a Grimadlus box I am waiting to paint when I am confident in my abilities, and Helsreach was my first real 40k book. This is by far the one piece of 40k along with ASTARTES that got me to be such a huge Warhammer 40k fan. I will fall asleep to Helsreach as a bedtime story. This is an international treasure and should be treated as such. This was the main thing that made me a Black Templars fan first and a Warhammer 40k fan second.
Brother, if you wait to feel confident, you shall never paint that box.

They would NEVER leave him there... The power armour and weapons need to be returned to the armourers for reconditioning and repair, to be passed on to a new recruit. The Black Templars especially are concerned with this, because they have SO MANY marines to keep equipped.
That said, it's yet another small step in grimaldus' slow process of growth. Finally he has to become more than a brother to his men, now he is becoming a father, with all the religious associations as well as those of mentorship.

Hey Connor, just wanted to say, that piece you spoke about dying in the field of combat really resonated with me brother. I too shared the same thought process, if im dead, do not send my brothers into the mouth of hell to retrieve my corpse. I know they would have willingly charged headlong into it, just as i would have for them. But i know i could never rest peacefully knowing that one of my men died just to recover my bullet riddled broken body. But like i said, i would have given my life gladly to recover their's! I don't know if that makes me a hypocrite or just stupid!😂

Your point of view of recovering your body if you die is one we all who fought often disagree on. On the one hand your a brother and so there fore no one is left behind. However recovering a dead body can lead to more deaths. But a dead body being drug naked in the streets by the enemy is not something any of us want to see happen to our brothers. Plus that looks bad on the news and tends to kill public support of the war effort and once that is gone the war has to end. So once your dead the typical plan is kill all the enemy secure your body and leave. Thos was a hard lesson to learn in the marines especially when enemy snipers started shooting to wound. When your brothers came to help they too were shot. So suppress the enemy before any recovering efforts can begin. War is hell and only rhe dead have seen the end to war

honestly loved the clip for the salamanders being brown/black skin , and honestly i m with your point of view on them.The xtra lore on them was a nice touch also. Cant w8 for the next one. Blood for the.... oups soz :P , you re the opposite faction on that part. Be safe and be well
I always love attention to detail from the lore in any project. Interestingly though, the Salamanders having that ebony skin like their Primarch Vulcan, much like the Raven Guard being deathly pale like Corvus Corax, is considered a flaw as Astartes have an organ, the Melanochrome, that is supposed to add more melanin to their skin as needed on worlds/environments with higher UV radiation. Basically built in sunscreen. That "feature" if you will is something I'd like to see a bit more of just because it would be interesting to see say an Ultramarine going through various skin tones because of changing environments on a planet. I've always wondered though, given that the Salamanders and the Raven Guard seem to be the extremes of that organs function, is either Legion more or less likely to develop things like types of skin cancer as a result?
I can't even watch warhammer + from Spain. Blocked in my region. But the full subscription is still available....all the little other knick knacks you get with the sub are 'offered'. No movies or series. Unbelievable

It does make sense with the diversity of the galaxy for most legions...the ones that actually pull recruits from multiple worlds or worlds with environmental diversity .....but they really should've been portrayed as the coal black colour as is lore
Still, looks good in this series and at the very least the difference in skin colour showcases the disparity between the two forces ...

Interestingly, the planet of Armageddon is/was the planet Ulanor during the Great Crusade. During the War of the Beast, the Orks turned it into an "attack moon" and brought it to Terra. The Mechanicus, while trying to figure out just how Oks teleporting technology functions, somehow managed to teleport it to its current location. IIRC this was in or around M32-33 and as far as I know is not widely known among the Imperium itself or even brought up very often in the lore. Then again, there's a lot from the War of the Beast that many people would like to forget.
