Bridge pickup sounds great, very awesome... but it doesn't cut it, as far as a realistic Strat neck sound. Thanks for the video! I wish they still offered that color! Nice...
Just bought a charvel from sweetwater it on the way ,that is not setup that is a oversight that someone missed and that pin not being installed properly should have been noticed, I will be disappointed if I got a new guitar and something like that was overlooked, we shouldn't be paying Sweetwater 300 dollars for a master setup when charvel should be qc ing these to play out of the box ,maybe minor adjustments from Shipping, glad you got it straightened out ,but I will be disappointed if I get my new toy and have to repackage it and wait more weeks ,they should look it over with there 55 point inspection and let us know if something is wrong before sending it to a customer 😉 thats just wasting everyone's time and getting them bad reviews, and charvel should do better theres no way that got qc ed and then checked again by Sweetwater and know one noticed, its pretty obvious to not see that 😉 great video thanks for the heads up on quality control being lacking ✌ ☮.
Have the string trees been stable? I hear a lot of folks have issues with the trees causing too much downward pressure. Ultimately causing tuning issues.
I just ordered mine from AMS ...nothing was said about set up ..since I ordered digitally....hoping for the best..I live a long way from a luthier..yikes!
I bought a guitar about a year-and-a-half ago from them and got the Plek service and I will never order again without getting that done! I can't say enough about how good my setup was on my guitars since I've been doing the Plek service from them also! I have that same guitar and even set up it will lose tune a little bit but what helped me out a lot was big Bend's nut sauce, a little bit on the nut and on the Saddles and the thing is always in tune now!
Nice! I was going to get the Plek for my new Gibsons but both "were done at the factory" so I didn't. The Gibsons are solid and perfect necks. I wish Fender would learn from them. I know this is a Charvel video.. the ProMod 24 neck is amazing too.
I got the same problem. I took mine to my guitar tech and we decided to glue the pins to prevent them from popping out. I am happy with the job done because the guitar now stays in tune well.
Absolutely brilliant playing and brilliant tone! The Duncan Full Shred works great in that guitar. I've been using Full Shreds since 1987. I've got to try one of these Pro Mods.
Hello thanks for this review. Now you have me all worried -several days ago I ordered a charvel DK 24 pro mod HH. Slightly different than yours. From Sweetwater But I did not request a set up. I always assumed guitars were ready to play out of the box. Plus I can’t afford the extra $129. I hope it’s going to be OK. Can you explain the problem you had a little bit better? You mentioned some thing about a bridge pin being too high? I’m not sure I understood what that means. Anyway I hope I don’t have to go through the hassle of sending the guitar back. By the way you’re playing blew me away, caught me off guard. Really good playing.
Sounds awesome! I just bought the same guitar at Guitar Center used mint condition ,The pickups were changed to black ,the same pickups but black..I can set up guitars in case it's not set up great.Cant wait to get it.Its cool how you were using the whammy and it stayed in tune!
Second review I see with complains about bad assembly, I'm really looking forward to buy this guitar. The other guy on the video was saying that the springs came loose inside of the guitar
Hey Rob, I have to disagree. I purchased a Charvel dk24 HSS and I liked it so much that I bought another one in the HSH version. I own many guitars and for $1k I don't believe you will find a better guitar than the dk24
I just got this model today in the orange crush finish and one of springs wasn't attached to the block, I could hear it rattling under the back plate. It was an easy fix, everything else seems good... so far.
My jvtm strat from sweet water kicks ass. Only I asked for black they told me they only had red and somehow I ended up with a white one. This was in 2011 I think
The string trees cause most of the tuning issues. I changed them to the white Graphtech trees and it made a big difference. Also keeping the nut lubricated is a good idea.
Stratisfied You don’t even need to use the string trees on the Charvel dk24’s. I run my strings above them and the break angle is just perfect. I also use “Big Bends Nut Sauce” on every string contact point. The trem lock-in screws were incredibly loose when it arrived though,. I had to turn them about 10-15 times to lock them down. Other than that everything was perfect!
This amazing Guitar MUST be giving the Boutigue builders like Anderson and Suhr fits !! lol Not that their guitars aren't absolutely killer, but the value this guitar offers is off the charts!!
If the Quality control were like so...you'd have to spend at least 200 bucks on top to get a fret level and setup just to make sure everything is in place.
Did they cover the shipping to them on the repair return? Ecaping bridge anchors must be point #56 lol. I'm hoping some day (soon) they make a roasted/carmelized neck (and that very same sculpted heel joint) with the series/parallel switch and a Floyd. Only so much those non-locking 2PT bridges can handle without going out. And string trees on 4 strings...uggh.
Those having tuning problems you need to level the bridge by tightening the springs in the back cavity. The nut slots are super tight on these so lube the nut and or have a luthier cut the nut slots wider so the string doesn't get stuck in the slot while tuning or using the tremolo. And obviously make sure your strings are stretched properly. If the base of the bridge is up too high it won't stay in tune for some reason.
Also you can shave down the top of the nut so the strings are not fully buried in the slot, which increases friction. Graph Tech executes poorly but it's a great material.
@@guyincognito320 That’s a great idea. I also realized that you need to lock down the trem post with a smaller Allen key that fits inside the post. It makes all the difference in staying in tune. I had no idea.
@@guyincognito320 Inside the bridge post there is another screw you need to turn to lock it down. Mine were completely loose and after tightening them it holds tune much better.
@Stratisfied Thanks, I didn't know that. Another factor for information sake is 1 string tree instead of 2. I've never had a guitar that seemed to need 4 strings tree'd up. Charvel seems to move to 1 tree over time. Other than that, lube all contact points and I like to install a Tremol-no and prefer down-only or hardtail most of the time. A one way trem has a hard resting point so while a two-way can come to rest in subtly wrong position.
Nice blast of Satch Boogie/Livin on a Prayer/Eruption / Mary Had a Little Lamb! 🤟😆 And you never left the bridge pozish! (That's good to know cos they only have the hss versions left at my store). Hey, if EVH could do it all with just one bridge humbucker.... 🤷♂️
Amazing playing and great demo! Yeah I'm having some issues with mine as well. One spring wasn't even in place and I had to open the back to set it :( Also have some stability and tuning issues. I'll try setting it up myself and see if it helps. Otherwise amazing piece of instrument.
One of my springs wasn't attached to the block, just hanging in there loose, rattling inside the guitar. It was an easy fix. It was very likely due to it being shipped with little tension on the strings to protect the neck.
Great folio up Cheers! I am about to order the shell pink which should be arriving in Europe within a month. Thanks to you I will have seller do a thorough quality control.
